//------------------------------// // Chapter 38: First Day // Story: Guest Star Kelduo: Justice from Afar // by The Kelduo //------------------------------// This was the day! I was sure of it! I'm going to make myself an awesome new friend! After I got up and left AJ's barn (she let me sleep there for the time being), I went to find her. However, she wasn't in her bed, and I didn't even find her outside bucking apple trees. Come to think of it, I couldn't find any of the Mane 6 out and about. I decided to visit the square to see if there were any potential friends to make, but it was quiet as well. I glanced over at Twilight's Castle, and my eyes settled on a big school building near it. It seemed really busy... Oh, of course! It was Monday, a school day! Maybe I could learn something there. As I trotted through the hallways, I began to wonder what the students would be like... only to barely dodge a brown thing barreling towards me. "Oops, Yona sorry!" Upon closer inspection, it was a young yak girl, who was apparently named Yona. I replied, "It's no big deal, Yona. I wasn't looking where I was going. My name's Keldeo, and I'm a Sword of Justice. I'm not your average unicorn, because I'm from a faraway land. Where are you from?" "Yona from Yakyakistan! Also, what Sword of Justice?" "The Swords of Justice are a group of heroic creatures who protect their land from danger. My friends and I somehow ended up here after defeating a really tough, monstrous bad guy in space." "Whoa, you sound strong!" "Yep, I'm strong enough to defeat an ice dragon with help from my best friend, Pummel Fist. You really should have been--whoa!" I was surrounded by a purple aura and was dragged into a nearby room. Twilight was sitting in a chair behind a desk. "I'm glad you came to the School of Friendship, Keldeo! What do you think of it?" "Well, I only just got here, but I already ran into a yak named Yona. Actually, she was the one who ran into me." "You mean you met Applejack's star student? That's great! As for you just getting here, I have a list of things for you to do here, starting with the highest priorities." Twilight thrust a very long list into my face, and I picked it up with my hoof. "Hey, Keldeo, why aren't you using your magic to pick it up?" "Yeah, well, my horn doesn't do magic." Twilight raised an eyebrow. "Really? It... can't? What can it do?" "It would be easier for me to show you." I concentrated my willpower into my horn, and it grew to several times its original length, glowing orange. "This is the reason why they call me, Virizion, Cobalion, and Terrakion the Swords of Justice: We can all use a move called Sacred Sword. I, however, went beyond that, transforming into my Resolute Form so I could use Secret Sword, my signature move! And to think that I can't even use magic..." "That's really interesting, Keldeo. Maybe we can meet at my place after school so I can teach you how to use magic. As for now, Spike can carry the list for you." "Okay, that works. See you later, Twilight!" As we left the room, Spike looked over the list. "Okay, so first, Twilight wants you to choose a class, followed by making a friend in that class. Here's the thing: Each of the Bearers of Harmony has their own class on their element. Which element do you want to learn about?" I looked away sadly. "Spike, can I tell you a story?" "Sure, I love stories." "Okay. Back when I was training to become a Sword of Justice, I really, really wanted to battle Kyurem to achieve that status. That's why, while the others were sleeping, I decided to sneak off to Kyurem's lair to challenge him. Once inside, he asked if I was worthy to fight him. I lied, telling him that I was a Sword of Justice so that I could battle him. I was too weak to defeat him, and my horn was broken. The Swords of Justice came and tried to intervene, only to be frozen solid. Overcome by fear, I fled for my life, never looking back. But when I met Ash Ketchum and his friends, they vowed to help me come back and finish the fight. After admitting my lie, I gathered up all my willpower and became resolute, and I picked up what I had put down. I would have won, but I sacrificed victory to protect my friends from a stray Freeze Shock. My lie brought me to where I am now. It was my downfall, but it allowed me to meet Pummel Fist, my best friend. I knew, as soon as I saw Pummel, that it was our destiny to meet, but I didn't know it would be because of a lie." Spike wiped away a tear. "Wow, that's... really deep. Your story must be an inspiration to everyone who knows it. Considering the moral of your story, I guess you want to learn more about honesty, right?" I gave a sad smile. "Yeah, that's right." "That's a great idea. Come on, I'll take you to Applejack's classroom."
