Chapter 28: Battle of Red Cliff (III)

Twilight Sparkle and her friends screamed wildly as they entered into the Book of Ages. As they landed on the ground, they came across the Ancient Land of Ma. They all entered it as they're ready to face it. They witnessed the land was in turmoil as Imperial Court argued with each other while civil war broke out between peasants, rebels, imperials, warriors, nobles, warlords, ministers and even the Emperor.

Stallion: Through the storm,
Through the darkness,
The once peaceful kingdom
Lost its Love and Harmony
Turn into grief despair

Virtue Dragon, Blade Dragoon and Warpath Temper prayed and bowed down before the altar as they make a vow of sworn brotherhood. They joined up with various brave and compassion warriors in journeying across the land to help troubled ponies.

Azure Phoenix stood on the Imperial Palace's entrance as he held his sword up high proudly as his Imperial Phoenix Army. His army cheered wildly and proudly. They all went from territory to territory for conquest and control of the land.

Claw Tiger smiled proudly as he led his Tiger Warriors to deal with rebels. As he was dying, Claw Tiger passed the sword to his eldest son, Brave Tiger. Brave Tiger led his warriors in reclaiming Wuhu River for his clan. As he died, he passed to Courage Tiger as the new Leader of Kingdom.

Stallion: The destiny is now yours

Virtue Dragon helped ponies as well as showing kindness and compassion. His warriors of Western Dragon Kingdom fought bravely and determinedly to defend the innocent.

Azure Phoenix recruited more of warriors and strategists under his banner. He led the Imperial Phoenix Kingdom army across the land for conquest and world domination of empire.

Courage Tiger was in great doubt and pain about his past. Nevertheless, he stood proudly on Water Tiger military naval ship, along with others. He was leading them to defend his home.

Desired a land of unity.

Three kingdoms marched into the battlefield as they all charged into it as they began battled with each other fiercely and firmly.

Twilight Sparkle and her friends witnessed the holographic form of history records about the heroes and villains from Qin Dynasty Era into the Three Kingdoms Era. They were amazed and shocked, but sometimes angered and upset while others - pained and despair.

Azure Phoenix and Han Zero stood before Royal Sisters. Both sides held each other hooves for the moment before the princesses disappeared from sights, including Han Zero. Azure Phoenix slowly turned and faced his two biggest rivals - Virtue Dragon and Courage Tiger. Three Rulers held anc crossed each other's their swords up proudly. It created the magical aura forms of Greenish Dragon, Bluish Phoenix and Crimson Tiger stood up and roared wildly as the mightiest warriors in Land of Ma!

"Anticipating the great battle at hand, the Alliance of both Courage Tiger and Virtue Dragon Forces searched for any chance they might have at victory." Narrator narrated, "And so, Skysoar worked together with Riverstrike to find the solution."

After Tigress and her team made it back to home safely, all the officers of the Alliance have gathered at the war council for meeting and making strategy. Tigress provided the large roll of map involving of Imperial Phoenix campsites and navy positions. They even set the navy battlefield with chess pieces as well. All of them looked and studied carefully on both the map and chess battlefield. They were trying to find a way to defeat the enemies.

"That's sure lots of them," Saber commented in shock and concern.

"Yeah," Aqua agreed as she turned and looked at Tigress, "I can't imagine of how you girls able to get through it."

Tigress smiled, "Thanks to both Gallus and Silverstream, they covered our asses during our spying. Who knew your magic of friendship with them got us through?"

“Yeah, even though it’s sometimes can be a bit useless…it actually works this time.”

“I agree.”

"Hate to be rude or something," Smolder asked in annoyance, "How the heck are we gonna beat the crap of bad guys?!"

Courage hummed in concern as he looked at the chess battlefield carefully, "Yes. I agreed. We're truly outnumbered and outmatched against the Imperial Phoenix Army, even though we got rid of their only naval admirals."

"Yes. How do we overcome it?" Virtue asked in concern.

“Beat them up? Eat them? Send them to Tartarus?” Smolder ask sarcastically, making everyone else look at her. “Hey, just pointing out how some folks, whom I won’t named, tends to act.”

“Yeah, we won’t say who or what.”

As everyone gave some thinking about the strategy, Riverstrike and Skysoar looked and studied the battlefield map carefully. as if they're looking for clues on it. They soon noticed something about the map. They found most of naval ships are connecting to each other by strange strings-like drawing. They became intrigued and amused by it. They turned to Tigress.

"Lady Tigress, what are these scribbles? The ones that connected to each other?" Riverstrike asked curiously.

"Those? Those are the linking chains," Tigress explained while looking at the map, "According to Admiral Cai, he said that the connecting chains with each other ships helped keeping the soldiers and marines balanced and not feeling seasick. And also, they can split up the chains, allowing them to user pincer attack on the ship."

"This means we would be having hard time to take them down," Saber said in concern.

Tigress scoffed, "Let them try. We can take them down. Count on it."

“Right, anyone who tries anything, we will send them to Tartarus!” Aqua exclaims with a cheerful yell.

“Damn, looks like I influenced you all too much.” Smolder said, amazed yet at the same time concern.

“That’s how it works in war, Smolder.”

"Hold it. There's more," Skysoar said calmly. He turned and looked closely at the battlefield map. He noticed something amiss on it, "Azure Phoenix has placed himself at the dangerous positions. The area he chose is a mistake and impossible for him to use his navy to escape. And there is only one way for him to escape is through the hill."

“Oh yeah, looks like we will definitely get him!” Aqua exclaims with an eager laugh. They just need to block off his escape afterwards and he’s dead.

“Indeed, and the war will be ours.”

"But how are we gonna defeat the navy?" Virtue Dragon asked.

SNEEZE! Smolder groaned as she blew her nose hard. She snorted some smoke and a bit of fire out from her nostrils. Riverstrike and Skysoar were amused by it. They have the idea of turning the tide.

"You're thinking what I'm thinking," Riverstrike asked amusingly.

Skysoar nodded in agreement, "I do. Thank you, Smolder."

"Huh?! What?!" Smolder asked in surprise, "What did I do?"

"We shall use fire attack," Skysoar said calmly, surprising the ponies. He continued, "And since the ships linked together, we can use that as our advantage. Our fire attacks will burn and spread across the ships. The Imperial Phoenix Navy will be destroyed for good."

"Ooh!" Everyone commented in surprise.

“Geez. I was only sneezing, didn’t think this will actually help.” Smolder said amazed yet awkward at the same time.

“Sometimes the little actions can help.” Skysoar explains calmly.

Anchor scoffed as he moved the ships towards the enemy navy, "Leave it to me. I will lead 20 small ships with lots of straws, and oils. I have the best experience with the navy when I was 12! And believe me, no one is better than me to sail the ship! Once we reach our targets, we will burnt the ship down. Once that is dealt with, the main ship shall proceed and head towards the campsite. That is where we finish our enemies off for good!"

Apollo laughed happily, "Nice work, old timer. I can't wait to see the looks of our enemies' face!"

"You've said it!" Warpath agreed, "I would like tear them to pieces! Count on it!"

“All right, so what’s the big plan here?” Aqua ask Riverstrike eagerly.

“Right, give us the word. We will do it!”

And just before Riverstrike could say anything, he felt a breeze on him. He turned and looked at the flag, which was blown from the northwest wind. He became uneasy and worried about it. He took the torch and placed it close to the ship chess, which was burning now. Everyone was confused and uncertain. They then found the fire was burning on the allied chess pieces, instead of enemies. This make everyone uneasy and worried.

"As I feared," Riverstrike said in concern, "As long as the northwest wind blows, we will burnt alive instead."

Rainbow scoffed, "Not a big deal. We, Pegasi, can turn the tide. I mean we can create clouds and storm."

“Right, this will be so simple, a Dragon could do it.” Pinkie remarks with a squee.

“Yeah….HEY!” Smolder exclaims, wondering if Pinkie was making fun of her kind or not.

"Unfortunately, we have one problem. We don't have much time," Riverstrike said in concern, "Unless..."

"I might have the idea," Skysoar said calmly and firmly. Everyone turned and looked at him. He continued, "With group of Pegasi's help and ability and my conjuring spell of powerful wind storm, we will turn the southeast wind on them! I will required one night."

"Do you believe it will work?" Virtue Dragon asked.

Skysoar sighed, "I admit it. This is one spell I have never perform before. But it's the only idea we have."

Riverstrike nodded, "Agreed. The enemy will launch the invasion sooner or later. We can't afford to wait."

"It's a long shot, but we need it now," Ben said firmly and calmly.

“Right, the sooner we take them down, the sooner we will get Twilight and our pals back.” Rainbow said with an eager smile. Ben and the rest of his friends nodded in approval….although some of the past ponies have looks that said otherwise.

Courage and Virtue Dragon looked at each other. They nodded firmly. Virtue Dragon spoke, "Skysoar, good luck on conjuring the wind storm spell."

"You two as well, my friends. My father and brother believed you both can handle it." Courage said to both Riverstrike and Anchor, "We're counting on you three."

"Lord! Riverstrike, Skysoar and Anchor reported firmly.

"And what if they tried to escape?" Aqua asked in concern.

Saber nodded in agreement as he was looking at the battlefield map. He looked at the mountain and forest, "If his navy get burnt and destroyed, then he will make an escape through there."

Everyone groaned in annoyance an frustration. Skysoar remained calm and firm, "We won't let him get away. I can assure you for that."

Virtue Dragon sighed, "If you say so. Let's hope we can capture him before he could escaped."

“Okay, we ready for this?” Ben ask the others who nodded and mumbled in agreement.

“Come on, we got some flank to beat!” Rainbow exclaims excitedly and in determination.

"Let's bloo this!" Pinkie cheered happily. Everyone groaned in annoyance. She yelped, "Sorry! I mean let's do this!"

The Alliance of Virtue Dragon's and Courage Tiger's are making serious preparation for their great battle of Red Cliff. Anchor worked with Thunderbold, Pirate Scythe and Trip of creating and making the fire explosive devices, which only can be used for fire attack on the navy ships. Apollo and Hammerod led the soldiers gathering and loading up lots of straws, oil pots into smaller ships. Blade Dragoon, Warpath and Dragonspear helped and trained the Alliance Soldiers for the serious battle. Skysoar ordered his soldiers to gather both ingredients and items for making preparation for prayer. Ben and his friends are helping them out as they hoped that they can end the war very soon and rescue their friends from Imperial Phoenix Army.

At the Jing Province's Palace, Twilight was inside the study room as she was studying some languages. She then received reports from Anger, Armorhide and Strict Stalker. She became shock and scared, as well as worry. As much as she wanted to be happy and relieved that her friends are coming to save her and others, she doesn't want Azure Phoenix to die yet because she wanted to know how and why he was able to turn into Mystic Pony. She sighed as she turned and looked at the generals.

"This is bad, really bad," Twilight said in concern.

"I don't understand..." Armorhide asked in concern.

Twilight explained, "Without the admirals to help Azure Phoenix, the Imperial Phoenix Army won't stand a chance to win."

"That's preposterous!" Strict Stalker protested angrily, "No one can defeat and destroy our navy force!"

Twilight sighed, "Not if both Skysoar and Riverstrike comes up with a strategy that could destroy his force and kill him!" Three generals gasped in shock and concern. She continued, "If the northwest wind changed, the fire attack will spread and destroy the ship. He has nowhere to escape but ran through the forest and hills to get here safely."

"No..." Anger said in concern, "We must do something! Azure Phoenix is the only warlord, who can bring order and peace to our land, not these rebels! I will not let them destroy our effort especially Rhino Armor's and Schemetrick's! Theirs must not be in vain!"

"We will," Twilight said firmly, "Listen closely. It's a very dangerous gambit."

Twilight began to explain her plans to Anger, Armorhide and Strict Stalker. They became shocked and concerned about hers as they felt that her plan may prove to be risky but also the only way to save Azure Phoenix. What must they do?

Inside the Water Tiger Main Camp, Courage Tiger and his allies including Rainbow, Rarity, Sunset, Ocellus, Yona and Carrie were gathered for some more discussion about the latest situation and also making next plans.

"The preparation for the assault is complete," Apollo said firmly, "We're ready to attack. But..."

"I am still having doubts that we can win," Thunderbold said in concern, "I doubt the wind will change. Not even Pegasi can do that. It will take lots of Pegasi and also having large amount of energy and determination to do so."

"That's not the only thing we should be worry," Hammerrod added, "If the wind do change, Anchor will lead the fire attack ships. But I fear the enemies will try to prevent him from succeeding his mission. Unless we lowered their guard down, we might not have the chance."

Everyone chatted and muttered in concern. Pirate Scythe scoffed, "I've got one. Why don't I can go and sneak around to sabotage their weapons and ships, so Anchor will go and do his job."

Trip scoffed, "If that will kills you for good."

"What was that?!" Pirate Scythe demanded angrily.

"Enough, both of you!" Thunderbold scolded angrily and sternly.

"My lord, I have the idea," Anchor asked firmly and calmly. Everyone turned and looked at him. He continued, "I can fake a defection. I'll invent some excuses,so you can punish me with 50 lashes. I'll then fake my surrender in anger, so Azure Phoenix will believe and allow me. And that's when I can set sail on my fire attack ship in range at his navy!"

Everyone gasped in shock and concern of what they just heard. Anchor can't be serious!

"But that could kill you!" Sam exclaimed in concern.

Hammerod nodded in agreement, "And not to mention, you won't able to perform your duty! You mustn't do this!"

"You must not do this!" Scarblade pleaded.

“Yeah, the idea will ended up with you killed and Azure Phoenix winning this!” Courage protests in alarm.

“Right, please rethink this!” Rarity insists frantically.

Anchor scoffed, "I have served three generations from Lord Claw Tiger to Lord Brave Tiger and now, Lord Courage Tiger. I would gladly to give my life for them! I will not let anyone come and destroy my home."

"Anchor..." Courage said in shock and concern.

"I appreciate your dedication, but I will not accept the idea," Riverstrike said firmly and calmly, shocked and disappointed Anchor. He approached to the old humanoid bulldog. He patted him, "Like they said, if you have serious and real beatings on your back, you won't make it out of life. I will never treat my generals that way."

Though touched, Anchor spoke in concern, "But my lord..."

"Do not worry, Anchor, the wind will come. Once you hit the first and second wave of navy; then Apollo, Scarblade and Thunderbold will lead the rest to take care of others while you destroy the main flagship." Riverstrike said calmly and firmly, "We should be worry about stopping and capturing Azure Phoenix alive, and also freed the rest of our friends. That's our main objective and promise. We will succeed it."

Anchor, disappointed that his plan was rejected, sighed. He smiled humbly, "Yes, commander. I will not fail you!"

“Thank you. Now prepares yourselves.”

“Yeah, hopefully this will end well for all of us.” Sunset sighs as she shakes her head at this.

“Right, I feel like we have been doing this for a very long time.” Carrie mumbled a bit.

“You and Yona both, human.” Yona agrees with Carrie.

Pirate Scythe scoffed as he cracked his hooves, "We won't! Not if we catch up to them in hurry."

"That is true," Riverstrike said in agreement, "But if we lost him, I can only hope that Skysoar and his lord will do it."

Rainbow smirked proudly, "They will."

Aqua nodded, "Yeah. They will stop him. We can count on them."

“Right, not like something unexpected will happened at the very end.” Ocellus comments, making the others looking at her in concern. “What?”

“Bad thing to say, Ocellus.” Carrie points out to her friend with a sigh.

Courage Tiger stood up, "Then, let us got! To battle!"

Everyone stood up and bowed before Courage Tiger firmly and humbly, "LORD!"

On Virtue Dragon's war council chamber, Virtue Dragon and his officers were gathered as they too were making plans for defeating and stopping Azure Phoenix while rescuing their allies for good. Ben, Applejack, Starlight, Pinkie, Phobos, Sandbar and Smolder were there as well.

"Skysoar, how is the preparation for prayers?" Virtue Dragon asked.

Skysoar smiled, "It went well. By midnight, the wind will blow from southeast and the fire will burn down enemy ships for good." He shown his serious and firm looks, "But there is no doubt that they will escaped Tiger Clan. It is up to us to find and stop him for good."

Ben sighed, "Finally..."

“So tell us what must be done here.” Applejack insists to Skysoar in determination.

“Right. What’s the battle plan?” Starlight ask anxiously.

"We all know what happens next after the fire attack began," Skysoar looked at the battlefield map, where all chess pieces were in place. He then placed and moved Azure Phoenix's towards the mountain, "He will no doubt try to escape via hills and forest, in order to reach Jing Province. It will be a long journey for them, but it's the only path they can use and escape since their navy will be gone. We will ambush them on the exact places."

"So, where do we begin, Skysoar?" Virtue Dragon asked.

Skysoar turned and looked at the Virtue Dragon's Forces. He spoke, "First of all, Dragonspear and Master Cooler will take 3,000 soldiers to ambush Azure Phoenix's retreat units at the narrowed route through forest. Starlight and Smolder will assist them in first ambush. Next, Lord Warpath and his daughter, Twinkle Star will ambush the enemies at the valley. Pinkie and Phobos will help them. Finally, Lord Blade Dragoon will lead his unit at the small road. That will be Azure Phoenix's final destination. Ambush and capture them alive. Ben, Applejack and Sandbar will assist you. This is a perfect strategy to end this all. There can be no failures."

Everyone nodded and bowed humbly and calmly, "Yes, my lord!"

"Father, with your permission, I would like to accompany Ben and his friends too," Saber suggested, surprising everyone. He continued, "I want to make sure that they're alright, and also capture Azure Phoenix too."

Virtue Dragon nodded, "Good to hear it. You may. Good luck, everyone."

Everyone stood up and exited the camp, leaving both Virtue Dragon and Skysoar behind. Skysoar halted Blade Dragoon to remain behind for more discussion. Suspicious of Skysoar's plans, Saber has to find out of what they're planning. As soon as all of his friend left, he remained behind of main camp for eavesdropping. Virtue Dragon, Skysoar and Blade Dragoon began to have discussion.

"What is it, Lord Skysoar?" Blade Dragoon asked.

"Twilight is coming," Skysoar said calmly, surprised both Virtue Dragon and Blade Dragoon.

"T-That's great news!" Blade Dragoon exclaimed in relief. He smiled, "If we do achieve capturing and killing Azure Phoenix, Twilight and her team will be freed and reunite with the rest of her friends! They do not need to fight for him again."

"I'm afraid you misunderstand the situation, Master Blade," Skysoar said dryly, shocking Blade Dragoon, "When I said she's coming, she's not coming back to us. She's reinforcing and rescuing Azure Phoenix and his allies."

"What?! Why?!" Virtue Dragon asked, "She saw everything! She shouldn't help him now!"

"Despite of that, she withhold the belief and principles of friendship." Skysoar said dryly yet calmly, concerning his allies, "Meaning that she remain on his sides, despite what he has done to the world. She was delusion and fool to believe that Azure Phoenix can be change for good. She will fight and resist us than allowing us to rescue her and her friends."

"What can be done?" Blade Dragoon asked in concern.

Skysoar sighed, "Kill her. If her friends stand in our way, kill them."

"WHAT?!"

"Yes. It is the only way for us to achieve our mission, and also ending this war for good and fulfill our lord's dream."

"With all due respect, Lord Skysoar, I wasn't trained to break my promises to my friends and kill innocent ponies, who are our friends'! I cannot do it."

"I know. But you and I know it since the day you left Azure Phoenix's service. She and her friends could left, but they remained behind. You know what it means..."

Blade Dragoon hummed in concern and uneasy, "But... This isn't right."

"I know. But it's the only way," Skysoar said in shame and guilty, "I am sorry..."

"Brother..." Blade Dragoon pleaded Virtue Dragon. His older sworn brother looked away in shame. He was in shock and concern. He sighed in defeat, "Very well. I will comply."

"Good. But you must mention this to anyone especially Ben and his friends," Skysoar said firmly, "I fear they will stand in our way."

Blade Dragoon nodded firmly, "I understand."

Blade Dragoon turned and exited the camp in disheartened. Virtue Dragon sighed, "I fear he won't do it. Blade Dragoon is the pony of valor and honor. He would never kill the innocent ponies or even breaking the promise."

"I know..." Skysoar said mysteriously, shocking Virtue Dragon. He continued, "Do not worry. Everything will reveal at the end..."

Unknown to the group, Saber has heard of everything. He became worry and scared. Breaking promise is one thing, but killing Ben's other friends is something else. He can't let it happen, but he has to let Ben and his friends know. Somehow...

In the late afternoon, Imperial Phoenix Army are almost finishing with their preparation for invasion on Red Cliff. Azure Phoenix and the rest of his officers have worn their battle armors. They're now standing before the large naval flagship. All of them were about to aboard the ship.

"My lord; my lord; my lord; Stop," A familiar voice calls out. Azure Phoenix and his Imperial Phoenix Officers stopped at once. They turned to their back, where they found Master Ratio stood before them. "My lord, you mustn't do this! You're gonna get killed! We must withdraw now!"

"No, I will not." Azure Phoenix spoke out softly more than he used to be.

Master Ratio hissed, "My lord, have you forgotten Twilight's warning?! If you continue with this path, you would likely get killed! Please, reconsider before it's too late!"

"My ambition cannot be stopped! I must realize it for the sake of those, who have given their lives for this. I must do it."

"I understand that. And they wouldn't want you go this far to die for nothing."

Azure Phoenix sighed, "I know, my old friend. But I come this far to stop now. I must succeed and win. If you fear of death so much, then you may leave and return to Jing Province now. Look after my son and daughter-in-law. They and my future grandchildren will become the future of this army."

"My lord... I..." Master Ratio begins to speak, trying to think what to say. But he gave up and sighed, "Very well. I shall accept this order. But please, do not die..."

"I know."

Master Ratio turned and left the main camp. He was heading back to the Jing Province at once. The Imperial Phoenix Army couldn't help but feel uneasy and concern about the path their lord has taken especially Twilight's warning.

"Lord Azure, please, don't do it. Your army won't make it out alive. You know it too." Fluttershy said meekly. Despite his jerkass like actions before, even she feels that he doesn't need to die like this.

Silverstream nodded in agreement as she spoke, "Please, we must get out of here before it's too late."

"Come on, guys. You know Headmare Twilight's right. We can't stay here too long! We've gotta get out of here now!" Gallus exclaims in concern. He rather get out of here while the getting's good.

Imperial Phoenix Officers remain silent as they're both uncertain and worried and also feared of disobeying and betraying their lord.

Azure Phoenix remained silent for the moment. He turned and approached to the cage, where Nyx and Spike were inside. He opened and let them out, surprised the group.

"Why?" Nyx ask Azure in surprise. This is unexpecting...

Azure Phoenix sighs as he explains, "If this is my destiny, then so be it. All of you are free to go. Go to your friends if you must. I will stay and fight till the end."

Everyone was in shock and concern to hear what the Leader of Imperial Phoenix Army has said. They couldn't believe it.

"I did not expect that." Spike said. Before, Azure would rather harm his former allies than to let them go back to their friends. Now; He's letting them go? Has recent events suddenly changed him?

"Huh. I wonder this is what mommy meant." Nyx whispers quietly.

"Wow, maybe he isn't all bad." Gallus spoke as he shakes his head at this, this changes things indeed.

Fluttershy spoke out softly, "I... I don't know what to say..."

"Just go. Never return here." Azure spoke out softly. He didn't do so out of anger or disgust....more like the Azure Phoenix that they all know him as in the present.

Fluttershy remained silent for the moment. She sighed in defeat, "Alright..."

"Wait, you sure?" Spike asks Azure in concern.

"Yes, I am....now go. Go now before I change my mind." Azure said calmly. He's giving them the chance to leave now, best to make the best of it.

"Are you really...." Nyx begins to speak to Azure more concerned.

"Don't question. Just go."

"Let's just go now." Fluttershy mutters a bit; Best not to test this right now.

Fluttershy and her team turned and left the Imperial Phoenix Main Camp They're all headed straight to the forest, where they have disappeared.

"My lord, why,” Axen ask Azure. He is amazed yet disbelief by his lord's sudden change in nature, to the point that he will let the prisoners go just like that.

Snaptrap concern and confuse ask, "Are you sure this is a good idea?"

"Yeah. Why the change of heart," Laxtinct ask Azure seriously.

Azure Phoenix just sighs once more as he answers, "It doesn't matter. Right now we have our mission to accomplish."

Navy Arrow hummed, "I wonder..."

"Lord Azure has the heart. I knew it." Bullhound spoke out in realization, doing so quietly. The recent events had changed him so much. Perhaps Twilight was right that friendship can find a way.

"My lord, are you certain if you want to continue with this? The danger is coming to us soon. We should leave while we still can." Bladestrike suggests seriously to his lord. They may not live to fight this battle. It's best to leave now.

Woren looked at the sun setting, adding, "Indeed. The wind will change its direction, and the enemies will use fire attack on us. It's best not to take that chance."

"If the enemy use fire attack, then we must prevent it. No matter what happens, they must be destroyed before they reach us." Azure explains calmly to his men. "That will be our main priority. If we do succeed it, then we're close to our victory. The world will be ours soon."

"I will take the lead, making sure they won't get close to us." Blazefist volunteers as he bows his lord.

Clawdestroyer bows as well, adding, "I shall assist him as well." Blazefist will likely need all the help he can get here.

"So, do I. It would be better to have more officers to hold the line." Axen said with a nod. They need all the officers they can get for this battle, even though it will likely not end well for any of them.

"Do as you pleased. Prepare for battle now." Azure ordered in determination. No more delays, it's time to get this done.

Imperial Phoenix Army bowed to their lord as they exclaim, "My Lord!"

Blazefist, Axen and Clawdestroyer have gotten on the smaller boat. They headed to the front line and boarded naval fleet first wave for the battle. Azure Phoenix and his army boarded on the naval flagship.

Bullhound hummed as he looked at the sky again, "I've got a bad feeling about this. Don't worry, buddy. I'll protect him at all cost. And after the battle, I'm gonna plow the field in your name, Rhino. Count on it."

The Alliance of Virtue Dragon and Courage Tiger are making the final preparation to fight and repel the enemy force especially using the fire attack against them. Skysoar and his team including Rainbow have set the altar at the isolated hill, accompanied by Lady Marvel, Rainbow, Ocellus and Yona.

The Alliance of Virtue Dragon and Courage Tiger have finished their preparation. Courage Tiger and the Water Tiger Clan have prepared the naval fleet especially Anchor and his squadrons have set up the fire attack ships. Rarity, Sunset and Carrie were with them.

Virtue Dragon and his forces have gone behind of Imperial Phoenix Main Camp, where they set the ambush on the enemies. Ben and most of his friends are with them now.

Courage Tiger and his allies are standing on the military stage before the Water Tiger Soldiers. The leader was making an inspirational speech to them before the battle.

Courage Tiger begins giving out his speech, "Soldiers of Water Tiger Clan, I hope you all are prepared for the final battle against Azure Phoenix. The enemy has indeed outnumbered and outmatch us. And we might not have the chance to defeat them."

Water Tiger Soldiers chatted and muttered in concern about it.

"However, we have come this far, all thanks to Riverstrike and Skysoar. We're now taking a huge risk to turn the tide against the enemies. Despite that, this is our only chance to save our home. There will be danger ahead, and also ponies will die too. But your sacrifice will not be in vain until we chase and repel the invaders back to where they came from. That is my promise." Courage Tiger sighed before adding, "If you wish to leave, leave now..."

Water Tiger Clan remained silent for the moment as none of them have spoken or even wanted to leave.

Anchor came up as he spoke, "My lord, I am happy to give my life for you and this state! No matter the cost, we will be victorious!"

Sam nodded as he spoke as well, "Yes. This is our chance to shine and repel the enemies once and for all!"

"Well said, Master Anchor and Master LaMauche. We have come this far. There's no turning back! We must push forward till the end!" Apollo exclaims, slamming one hoof onto his chest.

Trip shouted out in determination, "I too believe in it! I will fight."

Pirate Scythe scoffed, "Well, you're not getting the glory that easily."

"All of us do. We do it together as one." Thunderbold said in agreement. He is willing to risk his life to put an end to this war once and for all.

Hammerod spoke out as he bowed, "I am happy to give my life for this good of my kingdom. I made my promise to Lord Brave Tiger. I will turn my back on it."

Water Tiger Soldiers began to shout and cheer wildly and happily about keep on fighting.

"Nice going, brother!" Tigress exclaims with a wild cheer for her brother.

Aqua spoke out with a grin on her face, "Yeah. You've finally got your guts."

"The time has come. Are you ready?" Riverstrike spoke out to Courage Tiger, preparing for the biggest fight ever so far.

Courage Tiger pauses to think on this then he spoke, "I am. It's my turn to take the lead."

"Well, they are ready for anything, aren't they?" Rarity asks Sunset and Carrie as the girls watch on.

"Yeah; I just hope they know what they're doing." Sunset said with a little sigh. She wonders how this battle will turn out for everyone.

"They are soldiers. They will do what it takes." Carrie added to the two ponies, "Though I am nervous."

"So am I, Carrie; So am I."

Virtue Dragon and his forces have stationed at the isolated hill, where Skysoar and his team have set up the altar. They're preparing to strike. Ben and his friends joined up with three generals for the ambush party.

Ben, Applejack, Sandbar and Saber joined Blade Dragoon's Ambush Unit. Starlight and Smolder are with Dragonspear's team. Pinkie and Phobos teamed with Warpath's Team. All of them are ready to set up by the signal.

Skysoar, Lady Marvel and some unicorns were gathered before the altar. They all prayed and chanted firmly and calmly. Skysoar performed ancient ceremonial dance with his sword dancing. Rainbow and her team of Pegasi are on the sky as they're prepared to give out their best to blow the wind. Yona and Ocellus were guarding the area.

Virtue Dragon sighed, "This is it. Everyone, be prepare for anything..."

"Oh yeah; Looks like we're ready to kick some flank," Rainbow exclaims in determination.

"Man, time for some ouch time." Sandbar mumbles a bit, feeling a bit dread by this.

"Yona's ready. Right, friend Ocellus," Yona ask Ocellus who nodded a bit. "Yeah, so is Yona.”

Saber sighs as he gave a serious look to Ben. He got to somehow tell him. The pony spoke, "Ben, there's something I need to tell you."

"What is it?" Ben begins to ask Saber, wondering what his friend wishes to tell him.

"I... " Saber hesitated a bit. If he tells Ben, it will be betraying his father. If he doesn't, it will be betraying his friends. He thought about, 'How am I gonna tell him? I can't betray the pony, who is my father. But I also can't betray my friends. He still needs to know about this.'

"Saber, you're freaking me out."

"Ben... Do you still trust us, even though there are things you may not like it?"

"What? What are you-?!" Ben begins to speak up in alarm. He doesn't like what Saber is suggesting, even though the future prince has no idea as to what it is yet.

Saber interrupts Ben, "I need to know, Ben. Do you still trust us?"

"What the darn are you talking about? Of course, we do." Applejack said, bewildered by this. "We're family. We stick and help each other, no matter the odds."

"Right; just like she said; whatever it is, I'm sure we can handle it." Ben said calming down. Saber on the other hoof isn't so sure. How will he handle the fact that his father's group is going to have Twilight killed and get rid of anyone who could stand in the way of that?

"Y-Yeah, I supposed so. So, whatever you do, you do what is right. And I'll be there for you." Saber said uneasily. He should tell them the truth, but it doesn't look like the message is going through.

"Cool."

Applejack patted Saber on the back, giving a chuckle as she spoke, "Don't worry, we know we can trust you especially me. You're like a brother to me."

"Yeah. You're like a sister I never have before too." Saber added, giving a warm smile at this yet a sad one at the same time.

Pinkie bounces in, giggling playfilly, "Aw, you two. Will Friedle and Jason Marsden, you guys will always be buddies till the end. Just like what you did other works.

"Wait? What?"

"Forget what she said. She's a little bit crazy." Ben explains to Saber with a light chuckle. It's best not to even ask for an explanation but just to go with it.

Pinkie gave a stern glance at Ben, snapping, "Excuse me?!"

Most of Imperial Phoenix Soldiers and Marines have boarded the fleets. They all armed with their bows, arrows and weapons. They're all prepared for the final battle at Red Cliff. Azure Phoenix and his officers are at the flagship as they're facing and looking ahead of the Red Cliff Fortress.

Azure Phoenix didn't spoke for a while until he finally spoke, "It's almost time."

"My lord, remember the fire attack ships. The wind is going to change soon." Woren said to Azure seriously.

"I know. Signal to Blazefist, Clawdestroyer and Axen to prepare to attack."

Bladestrike nodded, speaking, "Understood."

Bladestrike took the flag as he waved it hard, signalling to other generals. Blazefist, Axen and Clawdestroyer, on their own ships, spotted the flag waving.

"That's the signal. Prepare for the attack." Axen said to Clawdestroyer seriously.

"If the wind changes, we must not let the fire attack reach our fleet." Clawdestroyer added in precaution. They must not let the enemy hit them, wind or no.

Blazefist added in determination, "While I'm still standing, none shall pass!"

Skysoar and his team continued praying firmly to the altar. The Alliance of Virtue Dragon and Courage Tiger were still waiting for the signal to launch the attack.

"Hmm....the wind is blowing from the southeast." Courage Tiger said seriously, noting how the wind is blowing, "Looks like we're in for a big battle."

"Indeed." Skysoar said with a nod.

Suddenly, Rainbow felt the breeze on her neck. She turned and looked around. She found the trees and leaves blown away from the southeast wind.

Rainbow gasped, "It blows; No way!"

Skysoar didn't waste time in calling out to Rainbow, "Rainbow; Now!"

"Alright! Let's blow it away!"

As ordered, Rainbow and the team of Pegasi were gathered above their allies as they all flapped their wings for unleashing powerful might to give the boost to wind blowing from southeast.

Skysoar sternly nodded, speaking, "The time is now. Go and set up the ambush."

Virtue Dragon nodded while calling out to the troops, "Soldiers, go forth!"

As order has been given, three squadrons set up and marched out at once. They headed to specific locations that Skysoar have given.

Skysoar speaks out quietly, "Riverstrike, it's your turn now."

Riverstrike felt the wind blew from the southeast. He was in shock and surprise.

Riverstrike spoke, "The wind. It's blowing."

"Incredible; He did it." Courage Tiger added. Skysoar has done his job and got the wind to blow in their side's favour. Now is the time to take advantage of this.

"What are we waiting for? Let's do this!" Aqua insists eagerly to her allies.

Riverstrike spoke in agreement, "Indeed. Anchor, now it's time!"

Riverstrike waved the signal flag to Anchor. He and his squadrons are on the docks, which were closed to fire attack ships. They spotted the signal.

"Averyone, to battle," Anchor calls out to the troops. Anchor and his allies quickly boarded the fire attack ships. They set sails. They're sailing straight to Imperial Phoenix Ships. Anchor grunted, "I have served you all... Lord Claw Tiger, Lord Brave Tiger and now, you, my lord."

Clawdestroyer's Griffon Guard spotted the ship. He rang the bell: General, fire attack ship is coming!

Clawdestroyer squawked, "Shoot them down! Shoot them down!"

"The Griffon General spotted them! Quick fire at the enemies," Axen calls out to the troops quickly.

"They're not allow to reach our navy! Kill them all! Split the ship now!" Blazefist screams out wildly, giving out the next order.

As ordered, the archers quickly loaded and armed with their bows and arrows. They began fired them at the fire attack ships, which they managed to hit and struck down on some of marine troops. And at the same time, the marines and soldiers struggled to pull the iron bars in splitting the ships.

Azure Phoenix and his officers were on the flagship as they're awaiting for the report. The soldier appeared and bowed in respect.

Imperial Phoenix Scout explains, "My lord, enemy ships are coming! The fire attack ship are heading this way!"

"Shoot them down now!" Azure orders sternly.

"They're still trying! The enemy ships are getting close to us!"

"No..."

Anchor remained firm and brave as he's fighting till the end. The fire attack ships are close to enemy naval fleets.

"This is it!" Anchor said. He lighted the torch on the oil strawed box on the fire attack ships. "Now we're cooking! No one leaves until all enemy ships lighted up!"

Anchor's Squadrons screams out in determination, "YEAH!"

Most of marines have lighted up their fire attack ships. They are close to the enemy fleet.

"Behold! This is the burning desire of the three leaders of Tiger Clan!" Anchor exclaims in determination.

Spotting the fire attack ships are getting close to their ships, Blazefist hissed: Abandon ship! Abandon ship! Order Lord Azure to leave the ship now!

Imperial Phoenix Guard screams out frantically, "Too late!"

Blazefist, Axen and Clawdestroyer spotted some fire attack ships are coming too close to them. Three of them screams out at the same time, "Oh shit! Get off the ships now!"

However, it was too late. The fire attack ships have rammed straight to the Imperial Phoenix naval fleet, causing a tremor on ships for soldiers to fell down or drop on the sea. And at the same time, the fire attack ships' burning flames have spread and burnt down the naval fleet and also affecting the iron bars, which connected to others.

Blazefist, Axen and Clawdestroyer fell into the sea, escaping their death. Most of Imperial Phoenix Soldiers got killed by burnt out alive and even drown to death. Some managed to escape through swimming.

Anchor kept on giving out the orders, "Keep on pushing forward! Head towards the flagship! Azure Phoenix, you're mine!"

Courage Tiger and his allies have boarded on their fleet. They have witnessed the battle.

"We did it. We absolutely did it!:" Courage Tiger cheers out wildly.

"Oh yeah, as Rainbow would said, we are awesome!" Aqua cheers out eagerly.

"Well, not the word I would use but that would work."

Riverstrike calls out to his men, "Everyone, to battle! Set sail!"

As ordered, Water Tiger Clan has set sails. The naval fleets are heading towards the Imperial Phoenix main camp now.

While most of naval fleets got rammed and burnt down by the fire attack ships, Azure Phoenix and his officers spotted Anchor and his units are coming towards them.

Laxtinct screams out in horror, "Oh shit! Here they come!"

"Cousin, we've gotta leave now!" Navy Arrow exclaims in alarm. It's best to get out of here before....

Too late as Snaptrap scream out frantically, "Too late!"

BOOM! The flagship got rammed, causing powerful tremor on it. It is now on fire. Anchor and his team began to climb up to the ship. They all armed with their weapons.

"No! This cannot be happening!" Azure exclaims in horror. These changes of events shouldn't be happening at all!

Anchor gave a slasher grin that would freak out Hannibal Lecter if he exists in this word. He spoke darkly, "Phoenix! Your head is mine."

Bullhound roared as he blocks his path, "Back off, dog! I won't let you get to him."

Bullhound roared as he formed himself a bowling ball. He charged and rammed straight to the Bulldog Diamond Dog off the ship.

Bladestrike rushes over to Azure, saying seriously, "My lord, get to the boat now! We must leave now!"

"This is terrible! We must escape now!" Worren spoke out seriously.

Laxtinct yelps as something almost hit him in the flank, "Yeouch! That hurts! I hope my brother won't get the Elemental Element of Fire to burn everything down especially killing the Hippogriffs!"

Azure Phoenix sighed, "Yes, you are right. We must escape now."

Azure Phoenix and his allies quickly boarded the small ships. They're heading straight back to the docks now. Water Tiger Clan fleets have arrived at the scene. Sunset spotted Anchor on the sea.

"It's Anchor! Help me out!" Sunset calls out to Rarity quickly.

Sunset and Rarity levitated to bring Anchor back to the ship. Apollo and Carrie helped as well. The bulldog Diamond Dog coughed heavily while spitting water out.

"Anchor, are you all right?" Rarity asks Anchor in concern. Granted, it wouldn't be like her to be concern for a Diamond Dog, but as Rainbow found out before with Trixie, not every Diamond Dog are ruffians....some of the time anyway.

Anchor spits out as he answers, "I am fine. But Azure Phoenix; He escaped me."

"Rest now, my friend. You've done enough. Leave the rest to us. It's our turn now. Hunt them down now!" Riverstrike exclaims sternly. Anchor's troops had did their part, now it's Riverstrike's turn to finish the job.

Azure Phoenix and his allies have arrived at the docks. They're now regrouping with some soldiers at the main camp. And just before they could do anything, more of fire arrows were shot out and hit some of camps, causing and spreading the blazing fire across the camps.

It has caused the panic and shock on Imperial Phoenix Soldiers. They began to scream and ran for their own lives. Water Tiger Clan naval fleets have arrived at the docks. They all climbed down from the ships as they charged and attacked Imperial Phoenix Army, routing and killing most of them.

Azure Phoenix and his officers tried to calm down and rally the soldiers to them. Unfortunately, none of them listened as they're too scared and worried to panic and ran for their lives.

Laxtinct yelps in horror, "This isn't good! They're too scared to do anything!"

"It's not point to stay here and regroup! We must escape." Snaptrap said in agreement. The enemies are outnumbered them all, the soldiers are too scared. There's no chance at victory right now.

"We have no choice." Azure admits with a defeated sigh. Even he knows when to fold them. "All units, rally to me! We must escape!"

"I shall lead the vanguard. Bullhound, with me; Laxtinct and Navy, stay with our lord. Protect him! We'll clear the front." Bladestrike spoke out quickly. They got to keep Azure safe until he's in safety and out of enemy's reach.

"Leave it to us!" Navy exclaims in determination.

Navy brought the Blaze Dragon - Shadow Runner to Azure Phoenix for using and riding. They managed to round up their soldiers by 5,000 only. Azure Phoenix and his unit began to escape.

While the Imperial Phoenix Army is making their escape, they encounter Thunderbold has blocked the way.

Thunderbold exclaims in defiance, "You won't breakthrough here!"

"Go! I'll hold him off! Elite Troops, with me," Bladestrike insists in determination. it wouldn't do good to keep Azure here and risk him getting captured or worst.

Bladestrike and Thunderbold roared angrily as they both charged and swung their axes and halberd at each other for few times. His elite troops of 300 charged and engaged enemy troops. Bullhound charged and rammed most of the soldiers, making way for Azure Phoenix and his unit to escape while knocking and killing Water Tiger Soldiers.

As Azure Phoenix and his army climbed the hill, they were blocked by Trip.

"Sorry, the road is blocked!" Trip spoke out smugly to the enemy.

"Cousin, get back!" Navy said to Azure sternly as he steps up. If Trip wanted a battle, then he got one.

Laxtinct spoke out as he got up in front as well, "You won't get him without the fight."

Trip screamed wildly as he charged straight at Azure Phoenix and his escapees. Suddenly, the lake bubbled out loud. Axen and his 300 soldiers emerged out and attacked the soldiers. He slammed his axe on the ground, causing the tremor and quake on them. He even swung and slams his axe at Trip against the tree's trunk hard.

"Keep away from my master!" Axen exclaims to Trip sternly.

"Axen! You're alive!" Laxtinct exclaims. He is relieved that his friend had survived the whole ordeal before.

Axen grunted in pain, "Barely. The fire almost burnt my face."

"Blazefist?! Where is he?!"

"I do not know. We got separated. We must keep on going."

Azure Phoenix nodded firmly as he and his army continued pushing forward at once. As they just arrived at the crossroad, they heard the bell ringing. They looked up and found Hammerod, Pirate Scythe and his crew came out of nowhere to surprise attack them.

5,000 soldiers have reduced to 3,500 now. Hammerod and Pirate Scythe have killed most of soldiers. They turned to Azure Phoenix.

"Got you now," Pirate Scythe said wickedly. He just need to kill Azure and it should be over.

"Prepare to die!" Hammerod added in the same matter.

"My lord, get back!" Snaptrap ordered Azure quickly.

"Watch out!" Woren calls out as he pushes Azure so that the two can dodge an arrow that almost got him.

"No!" Azure screams out in alarm as it looks like they won't be able to get away this time.

At least, he thought that was the case. But a familiar voice spoke out, "Behold! Clawdestroyer is here!" And just before Hammerod and Pirate Scythe could do anything, Clawdestroyer and his Griffin Guards dived down and slammed dunk on both generals down.

"Clawdestroyer!"

"Go! I'll hold them!"

"So, will I!" Axen exclaims, getting his weapon ready. He will hold off the enemy while the remainder of Azure's group make a break for it.

Clawdestroyer and Axen fought and held off the enemy troops including Hammerod and Pirate Scythe. Azure Phoenix and his forces continued their escape.

The Imperial Phoenix Force had arrived at the forest, where they found Tigress, Aqua, Apollo and the units.

" No!" Azure yells out in alarm. It looks like almost every one of the enemies are determined to keep him from getting away!

"We've got you now!" Tigress exclaims with a smirk. Azure isn't getting away this time!

"It's over." Aqua spoke out in determination.

"Stay away from them!" A familiar voice spoke as Blazefist and his elite troops jumped out from the bushes. They then charged and engaged with Tigress and her unit.

Laxtinct gasped, "Blazefist! You're alright!"

"No..." Aqua spoke out in worry. Azure is one thing, but not Blazefist....

Blazefist spoke out but is sadly secretly conflicted too, "Sorry, princess, I won't let you harm them."

"So, do I. Just when we become friends, and now we're fighting. I hate it."

"Me neither. Duty comes first, princess especially family."

"Feeling is mutual, Blaze." Aqua said in agreement. Of course, in another time and space, they would've stayed friends....or maybe even more.

Blazefist and Aqua charged and engaged a duel by swinging their Falcon Spear and Water Tiger Claws at each other. Tigress and Apollo tried to take them down, but halted by Laxtinct and Bullhound, who charged and pushed them off.

"My lord, go!" Bullhound calls out to Azure as he and Laxtinct fights the enemy off.

"We'll hold them off!" Laxtinct exclaims in agreement.

Azure Phoenix nodded as he and his allies continued their march to escape. Blazefist, Laxtinct, Bullhound and their soldiers of 800 hold off Tigress and her army as long as they can.

Azure Phoenix and his unit have entered and take forest route. They were on their way to escape, but got blocked by Courage Tiger, Riverstrike and their main unit including Rarity, Sunset and Carrie were standing in the way.

Azure Phoenix groaned, "No."

"We have you now!" Courage Tiger spoke out in determination.

"There is no escape! Give up!" Riverstrike orders Azure sternly.

"We don't want to kill you, Azure." Sunset said, unsure yet determined. "Just give up and this won't end in bloodsleed."

"Come on, you don't have much troops left." Carrie said in agreement. "You don't want to end this in vain."

Navy Arrow, Snaptrap and Woren moved to the front as they armed with their weapons for the fight. And just before anyone could do anything, a large boulder tumbled down and slammed to the ground, blocking their way.

"What was that?" Courage spoke out in confusion.

Riverstrike spotted someone on the mountain. He gasped in alarm, "What the?!"

Rarity gasped, "Fluttershy?! She helped them?!"

"What the buck is this?!" Sunset calls out in shock and alarm.

"What is she doing?" Carrie asks in alarm and worry. "Doesn't she remember whose fault this war really is?!"

Fluttershy climbed down and bowed before Azure Phoenix and his allies.

"Fluttershy; what is the meaning of this?!" Azure yells out to Fluttershy in disbelief. He already gave her permission to leave, so why is she doing this?

Fluttershy explains to Azure, "Helping you. Knowing Twilight, she hated to see you died."

"Why?"

"You're her friend. Come, this way, we're getting out of here."

"How do I know I can trust you?" Azure asks Fluttershy in concern. He already had done a lot, including separating Twilight from her friends and worst.

"It's your choice." Fluttershy answers. Azure can either let Fluttershy help him or not.

"Cousin, there is no other way." Navy said calmly to his cousin. They got a chance to escape, best to use it.

"In fact, we might as well take the offer." Woren admits in agreement. They are out of options so this is better than nothing!

Azure Phoenix groaned, "Very well..."

Azure Phoenix and his allies followed Fluttershy through the cave, which led them to another forest.

They then later regrouped with Bladestrike, Axen, Clawdestroyer, Blazefist, Bullhound and Laxtinct. And to their surprise; Gallus, Silverstream, Spike and Nyx were there as well.

"You too," Azure exclaims in disbelief. Why in the world would the rest of Fluttershy's group still help them out despite Azure allowing them to leave?

Bladestrike explains to Azure, "Believe it or not. If not for Spike the Brave and young Nyx, I would have been finished and killed. Using the enlarged spell on Spike's Shadow and Dragon Flames had scared the enemies off."

"We owe it to Gallus as well." Axen said with a nod. Gallus has helped out as well.

"Indeed. I'd never thought he would come back and save us." Clawdestroyer admits, grateful for the help.

"And not to mention, Silverstream help us too." Blazefist adds. He may not like the Hippogriffs, but at least with Silverstream, he made a big exception.

"Guess not all Hippogriffs are bad." Laxtinct admits with a meekly chuckle, not noticing the annoyed look on Silverstream's face. Her kind isn't bad!

Bullhound added as if thinking the same thing as her, "None of them do."

"Well, it's better than nothing." Gallus remarks with a shrug as he crosses his arms. "Plus, Twilight wouldn't forgive anyone if the Mys...."

"....miss the chance to see you again!" Nyx yelps as she interrupts what Gallus was going to say quickly, giving out a nervous smile.

"Plus you let go so we kinda owe you." Spike admits as he scratches the back of his head awkwardly. After all, Azure let them all go, so repaying the debt is better, right?

"We're so fortunate to be alive." Snaptrap admits with a shrug.

Woren groaned, "Agreed. I hate to be roasted chicken..."

"I don't believe it." Azure said as he shakes his head at the luck that his side has right now.

Fluttershy explains kindly to the disbelief lord, "Believe it or not. It's the truth. And plus, we wanted to make sure Twilight isn't isolated or doing something stupid. She needs us. We're her friends."

"Plus, Celestia wouldn't forgive ya if her future daughter in law was...." Gallus added but Nyx quickly nudges him, "Ouch, what?"

"Not sure what you're on about, but fine." Blazefist said, puzzled by the comment but decides it's best to just leave it.

"Bunch of fools..." Azure sighed. "Thank you."

"Yeah. We owe you one. But we'd better get out of here now." Navy Arrow said, knowing it may not be long before the enemies would try to attack them all again.

"Right, best to get while the getting's good," Silverstream added in agreement. They wonder what their standing with their other friends are now that they pulled this stunt? Would they understand?

"Screw this, we're outta here as they would say." Spike comments quickly.

"Yes, we should." Azure said with a nod.

Azure Phoenix and his allies began their march now. They're escaping and heading back to Jing Province before the enemies catch up to them. They have to reach home safely.

At the Jing Province's Palace, Twilight, Anger and Strict Stalker have gathered 3,000 soldiers and armed with their weapons as they're preparing to march out and save Azure Phoenix and their allies from 'The Battle of Red Cliff'. After the preparation has been made, they all marched out at once. They left Armorhide behind to defend Jing Province now. Two hours have passed as they were marching through the long road, hopefully that will lead them to Azure Phoenix. They then come across to Strikespell, Master Ratio, the carriage that was carrying the sickly Fluteheart, and some 500 soldiers.

"Lord Strikespell! Master Ratio! Lady Fluteheart!" Strict Stalker exclaimed in relief.

"What the?! What are you all doing here?" Strikespell demanded firmly. He turned and looked at Twilight, "Why is she here?"

"Rescuing your father," Twilight said firmly and calmly.

"Really? After what he has done to you and your friends, you still willing to save him?"

"Yes, I am, Lord Strikespell."

"You're indeed foolish yet strange pony I ever met." Strikespell commented in surprise, annoying Twilight. He sighed, "However, I am glad that you're on our side. If not for you, we wouldn't have come this far."

Master Ratio nodded in agreement, "Indeed. You are indeed a hero."

Twilight sighed, "No. I'm his friend. As a friend, I must help him till the end, no matter what he did."

Strikespell and Master Ratio bowed to the ground humbly, "Thank you, Oracle Twilight."

"Come on. We have to move. Strikespell and Master Ratio, head back to Jing Province's Palace now," Twilight said firmly, "The rest of us will continue our march and rescue Lord Azure and the rest."

Strikespell nodded, "Understood. Keep them safe, Oracle."

Master Ratio nodded, "Indeed. Our future is depending on you and Lord Azure."

Twilight sighed, "Yeah... Of course..."

Anger grunted, "Let's move it now. Cousin needs rescue now!"

Twilight and her unit marched out at once while Strikespell and his quickly moved and headed back to Jing Province's Palace. Hopefully, they can find and rescue Azure Phoenix, his units and her friends.

Azure Phoenix and his remaining forces have managed to escape Water Tiger Clan's relentless assault and fire attacks. They continued their travelling through the forest for hours. By dawn, they have arrived at the forked road that could lead them back to the Jing Porvince's Palace. They're now taking a break for the moment.

Axen hissed in pain as he placed the water gourd on his face, "Damn it. I cannot believe that we have lost the battle. We have barely begun."

"No kidding," Laxtinct agreed, "Shouldn't have started this stupid campaign in the first place. Without the Admiral Cai and his Vice Admiral, we're doomed."

"Yes, Major Laxtinct, I agreed with your concerns," Woren said in concern, "Twilight's prophecy has come true. We have lost this battle. Have we listened to her carefully, we wouldn't have suffered this humiliation and defeat."

"Yeah. This is the first time to feel defeat in our life..." Blazefist said in shame. He sighed, "I wish we would have done something to prevent this."

Silverstream patted Blazefist's back, "It's okay, Blazefist. No need to get upset and worry about it. We'll just have to work hard and better, so we can try again." She cleared her throat, "Just hope it's not another massacre again. I hate it."

Gallus sighed, "Tell me about it." He then turned and looked at the forked road, "Shouldn't we get going or something."

Snaptrap hummed calmly while looking at the forked road, "Indeed, we should. The enemy won't be far behind from us. They'll be able to catch up to us soon."

For strange reason, Azure Phoenix laughed out loud yet amusingly and wildly. This shocked and surprised the rest of Imperial Phoenix Army. They have never seen him laughing especially when he's at the verge of defeat.

“Hoo boy. He lost it. He finally lost it.” Laxtinct groans out as he shakes his head. “Someone get this guy a strait jacket, we’re screwed.”

“Lord, why are you laughing?” Woren ask Azure Phoenix in disbelief. “We are losing here.”

“The only one we saw laughter like that is when the bad guy got something up his sleeve.” Silverstream remarks in concern.

“Give us a clue here.” Blazefist said to Azure seriously. “What gives?”

"Cousin, what the heck was that about?" Navy Arrow asked in concern.

Bullhound hummed fearfully, "Was there something funny about my tummy again?"

Azure Phoenix sighed calmly, "No... I am merely laughing at both Riverstrike and Skysoar Intellect. They claimed to be military genius?" He scoffed amusingly, "What a load of crap! If it were to me, I would have set the ambush here to take down the enemies for good."

Laxtinct yelped in shock as he pointed his hoof, "Like that?!"

Imperial Phoenix Army looked at Laxtinct's direction. They turned to the left side of forked road, where Dragonspear and his cavalry units emerged and coming down. And at the same time, Master Cooler and the rest of archers including Starlight and Smolder emerged out from the bushes. Smolder has lighted up the arrows. They all armed and aimed their arrows at the Imperial Phoenix Army.

"Ambush!" Bladestrike exclaimed in concern.

Clawdestroyer groaned, "Just what we need. I hate ambush!"

"Azure Phoenix! Surrender now! You have no chance to escape!" Dragonspear demanded firmly.

"Give us back our friends now!" Starlight demanded firmly.

Azure Phoenix groaned, "Damn it! I have to stay alive!"

"My lord, go! Clawdestroyer with me!" Bladestrike ordered firmly.

Clawdestroyer nodded, "Understood!"

Nudging their Dragon Ride, Bladestrike and Clawdestroyer roared angrily and firmly as they charged and engaged with Dragonspear, who easily and swiftly blocked and deflected the attacks while thrusting and striking his spear at them both. Both Imperial Phoenix Generals struggled to fight and take him down. Nevertheless, they refused to back down and continued their fierce duel.

Azure Phoenix and his main units quickly make their escape. Master Cooler and Starlight ordered their archers to fire the arrows at once. The archers shot down most of enemy troops. Some nearly struck down the Warlord of Northern Ma. Luckily for him; Bullhound, Woren and Snaptrap came to his aid while the rest of generals swung and spun their spears and blades in knocking down the arrows. They're almost to the right side of forked road, which was blocked by Master Cooler and his unit. Fluttershy flew before them as she gave them the 'Stare', which shocked and scared them. This allowed Azure Phoenix and his main units to escape.

Wounding both Bladestrike and Clawdestroyer, Dragonspear was about to finish them off. If not for Gallus and Silverstream ramming and pushing his White Speed Dragon; he wouldn't have fallen while defeating his enemy generals. And so, four of them make their escape at once.

Dragonspear grunted in pain as he slowly get up. He then found Azure Phoenix and his main force have escaped. He groaned in defeat.

"Damn it. They've got away," Dragonspear cursed angrily, "But why? Why would Fluttershy and her friends still help them?! They should have escaped!"

Master Cooler sighed, "I wish I knew. But let us hope that our allies can catch up to them."

Starlight and Smolder have their own private discussion, regarding of Fluttershy and her friends helping Imperial Phoenix Army.

"Maybe we should have capture them," Smolder said in concern.

Starlight sighed, "I know. But still, Twilight believed that there is good in Azure Phoenix. I normally doubt it but there must be a reason why he became Mystic Pony."

Smolder groaned, "Like I know about that."

Reduced to 2,500 soldiers now, Azure Phoenix and his army continued their journey after they escaped Dragonspear's ambush. They're now have arrived at the small hills. Struggling to continue with their journey to Jing Province's Palace, they all were exhausted and hungry. Their movement became very slow and dragging.

"At this rate, we will not able reach base in time," Snaptrap said in concern, "We should rest now, my lord. And also, our soldiers to be fed."

Blazefist sighed, "He's right. We won't stand a chance against another ambush or attack if we're in this state."

Azure Phoenix groaned, "I supposed so. Rest now. Find and cook the meal now."

As ordered, the Imperial Phoenix Army stand down at once. The soldiers looked around and collect some ingredients. They then cooked them for their leaders and themselves. They managed to cook some mushroom soup, some mint leaves and Bok Choy rice. They all ate their meal as fast as they can. And at the same time, both Bullhound and Laxtinct were on guard duty. They're keeping their eyes on any sign of enemies.

While the Imperial Phoenix Army was eating their meal, Azure Phoenix was staring blankly at the mushroom soup. This alerted Fluttershy and her friends.

“Uh, Mr. Phoenix, sir?” Fluttershy ask the lord meekly. “Are you all right?”

“Right, seriously dude, you aren’t hurt are ya?” Gallus ask Azure in concern.

Azure Phoenix sighed, "I'm fine. And to be honest, I was having thoughts. I'd never thought that Virtue Dragon and Courage Tiger would be able to overcome the odds. I have defeated my rival for countless times, and never have I lost the battle to him. I've known Courage Tiger to be administrator. I have underestimated him and his leadership. He truly knows how to handle the situation."

Woren nodded, "Indeed. Many times Admiral Cai has warned. We were ignorant and overconfident to listen."

"That's what led us to our greatest defeat," Navy Arrow said in shame, "This is so embarrassing..."

Axen sighed, "I'm ashamed of it. We have underestimated our enemies and their strategy."

"Underestimate them?" Azure Phoenix asked in surprise. He then snickered and laughed, "Underestimate them?! Ha! That's a good one!"

Azure Phoenix continued with his laughing, which once again confuse and scared his Imperial Phoenix Army again.

"Again? Is her serious?" Gallus asked in concern.

Silverstream hissed, "I think I'd prefer Lord Azure, that doesn't laugh and serious with his work. Laughing Azure really creeps me out..."

"My lord, what are you laughing now?" Snaptrap asked in concern, "You should kept your laughing to minimum. I fear the enemy is closing by."

Bullhound nodded in concern, "Yes. It's not a good omen."

"Good omen?" Azure Phoenix asked amusingly, "Bad omen for them mostly. They should have thought about setting ambush here."

"Hate to be bearer of bad news! We've got company!" Spike reported in fear.

Imperial Phoenix Army looked up again as they found Warpath, Twinkle Star, Pinkie, Phobos and the army of spear and archer units have blocked the road. They're armed and aimed their weapons at the enemy troops.

"You've gotta be kidding me," Navy Arrow asked in shock.

"Why does it have to be him?!" Laxtinct asked in fear.

Warpath scoffed as he readied with his Forked Bladed Serpentine Spear, "Got you now, Azure! Your head is mine!"

Bladestrike hissed as he got up and armed with his Twin Tiger Axes, "Battle position! Bullhound, Axen, with me! The rest of you, go and get our lord to safety!"

As ordered; Bladestrike, Bullhound and Axen charged and engaged with Warpath, who firmly and strongly blocked and held off the attack. And at the same time, he fought back fiercely, which scared and weakened them a lot. Azure Phoenix and his Imperial Phoenix Army make their escape. But they were blocked and halted by Twinkle Star and her shield units. Pinkie, Phobos and the archers fired the arrows again at the enemy troops, which slowly dwindle the numbers again.

Refusing to give up, Laxtinct screamed wildly as he charged and rammed himself and his War Hammer at the shield units. This allowed Navy Arrow, Blazefist, Gallus, Silverstream and some archers fired their arrows in wounding and killing the enemy troops. And at the same time, both Woren and Snaptrap unleashed the Fear Spell, which blinded them from looking at them. This gave Azure Phoenix and his main unit to escape now.

Seeing their lord and his main unit escaped, Bladestrike and his allies screamed out loud as they gave full power of swinging their weapons in knocking and pushing Warpath off. They then make their escape at once.

Pinkie groaned, "Cupcakes! They've got away!"

"Indeed." Twinkle Star said in concern. She turned and looked at her father, "Father, forgive us."

"Don't worry, kids. My brother will get them," Warpath said confidently, "We did lots of numbers on his soldiers. No way they can get out of here alive."

"Hope so. Can't stand on fighting with Nyx..." Phobos said in concern.

Pinkie sighed, "Tell me about it..."

After barely escaping Warpath's Ambush, Azure Phoenix and his army continued their journey back to Jing Province. However, the sky has darkened as it has hailed down the raining on them. While continued marching through the sloppy and muddy roads, his army slowly decreased and dwindled. Most of them have died from wounds, hunger and cold. Their numbers is now less than 1,000 soldiers. Azure Phoenix was alerted of the situation. He became more concern and uneasy about it. He knew that he won't able to stand against the next ambush. He and his army must reach to Jing Province's Palace, no matter the cost.

Passing through the valley, Azure Phoenix and his remaining unit have arrived at the open field. They then found Blade Dragoon and his company including Ben, Applejack, Sandbar and Saber standing before them. Azure Phoenix and his main force were in deep shock and fear of what they just saw.

"Aw come on!" Laxtinct and Bullhound exclaimed in annoyance.

Navy Arrow groaned, "No kidding. I don't think I can start another duel."

"Indeed. We're at the limits now," Axen said in concern and uneasily, "This could be the end of it..."

Bladestrike grunted as he armed with his Twin Tiger Axes, "Then, so be it. We will die with honor to protect our lord."

Clawdestroyer sighed, "We're out of option. Let's do this."

"Yeah. One last battle together," Blazefist agreed.

Imperial Phoenix Generals and their soldiers armed themselves with their weapons as they're preparing for their 'last' fight against Blade Dragoon and his company at once, despite them reaching their limits.

"They won't make it out like this!" Nyx exclaimed in concern.

Spike nodded, "You have to stop this!"

“Right. You can’t send your generals to fight to the death.” Fluttershy said in agreement. “You won’t win here.”

“Right, come on, at least think on this.” Spike remarks in agreement.

Azure Phoenix sighed, "There isn't a way. This will be my end."

"No, my lord. There is one chance," Woren said firmly and calmly. Azure Phoenix turned and looked at him, "Since you have treated him well, Blade Dragoon is honorable pony and also feel indebted to you. If you plead him now, he will surely let us go."

Snaptrap sighed, "It's risky, but the only way to escape our death..."

Thinking of what Woren and Snaptrap has said, Azure Phoenix sighed in defeat as he has no choice but to take the risk and plead Blade Dragoon to let him and his allies go. He then slowly approached and stood before Blade Dragoon and his army. Imperial Phoenix Army remained behind of him as they remained vigilant and alert to protect their lord. Fluttershy and her team remained on Azure Phoenix's side.

"Fluttershy! Thank goodness, you're alright!" Applejack exclaimed in relief.

Ben sighed, "Yeah. You have no idea how worried we are."

“Right, you got no idea how messed up things has been lately.” Sandbar comments.

“Well, you probably do, but still…”

"Blade Dragoon..." Azure Phoenix said calmly and firmly while looking at his former general, "It's been a while, hasn't it?"

Blade Dragoon nodded firmly, "It has, my lord. But now, it's over. This is where it ends."

"Perhaps.. I'd never thought that my life would be end by your hoof," Azure Phoenix said in shame and upset, "To think after everything I have done for you, you have decided to finish me. How cruel the fate is..."

Blade Dragoon sighed, "I wish it didn't come to this, Lord Azure Phoenix. But my duty comes first. I must take you now."

"Yes, I understand. This is where I meet my end..." Azure Phoenix sighed in defeat. He sat down on the floor. He then spoke, "None of you must interfere this. This is where it ends."

"My lord!" Imperial Phoenix Army exclaimed in concern.

Blade Dragoon hummed in concern. Bladestrike exclaimed angrily, "Blade Dragoon, have you forgotten your debt to our lord?! Are you willingly to kill our lord in cold blood especially when he is defeated?! If so, then you're no different from Devil Destroyer. I have hope that you're not like him."

“No, please! Don’t kill him!” Fluttershy exclaims frantically to Blade Dragoon.

“Think on what Azure is saying!” Spike exclaims in agreement while the rest with his team agrees.

“Bladestrike, what were you thinking?” Applejack demands to Bladestrike angrily. “You don’t have no idea what we do to get here.”

“Yeah, and comparing him to Devil Destroyer?!” Ben yelps to Bladestrike in disbelief. “That’s harsh!”

While Blade Dragoon was still thinking and had a heartache about the debt to Azure Phoenix, he and his ambush unit yelped in surprise upon hearing the battle cry. They turned to their back, where they found Twilight and her reinforcement have arrived. They then surrounded Blade Dragoon's Army.

“Wait, Twilight?” Fluttershy ask in surprise and concern.

“What is she doing here?” Gallus whispers to his team in concern.

“Twilight,” Ben ask surprised yet happy to see his love again.

“Weird.” Nyx said concerned about this.

"What? She came?!" Azure Phoenix asked in shock and surprise.

"Wow. That was unexpected..." Navy Arrow commented in shock and surprise.

Bullhound smiled, "I knew. She will come! She always come and rescue us."

"Just as he predicted..." Blade Dragoon said in concern and shock.

"Twilight, what are you doing?!" Ben demanded.

"Saving Lord Azure Phoenix. That's what." Twilight said firmly.

“What?! Twilight, I know he is your mentor and this isn’t like him then as he is then, but have you forgotten about the chaos and massacare he caused?!”

“Now to mention the jerk was the reason you got split from us to begin with!” Sandbar protests to the head mare in disbelief.

“He’s right.” Applejack said in agreement. “Give us a good reason to believe you.”

Twilight sighed, "I know. But I've made promise to two ponies. I'm willing to stay with him till the end. That is my duty as Princess of Friendship."

Everyone was in deep shock and surprised by Twilight's speech and determination. They didn't expect her to remain fiercely loyal to Azure Phoenix, despite the damage he has caused to the Land of Ma.

“Darn, when you put it like that, she got a point there.” Spike mumbled quietly to himself a bit.

“Still, talk about honour before reason.” Gallus chuckles a bit though yelps as Nyx nudges him. “Okay, seriously? Quit doing that.”

Blade Dragoon sighed as he armed with his Blue Crescent Dragon Blade, "Then, I have no choice. For the sake of my brother and his dream of benevolence, I must defeat and kill you! Twilight Sparkle, prepare yourself!"

And just before anyone could react, Blade Dragoon charged as he swung and slam his Blue Crescent Dragon Blade at the shocking and worrying Twilight. Luckily, Anger and Strict Stalker blocked and deflected the attacks. He got pushed back. And just before he could do anything, Saber and Rogue quickly got in his way, halting and blocking him from moving.

"Father, have you lost your mind?!" Rogue asked angrily and shockingly.

"Yeah, what has gotten into you, boss?!" Bullock asked in concern.

Hook hissed, "Yeah. What the heck are you doing?!"

“What the hell?!” Ben yells out angrily towards Blade Dragoon. “Is he trying to….”

“Yes, and suddenly I’m starting to doubt even being his pal.” Sandbar said in shock and disgust by this.

“The buck,” Applejack yells out in alarm that Blade Dragoon is trying to kill someone she considered to be a sister.

"Son! Saber, move aside now!" Blade Dragoon demanded firmly.

"No! I won't," Saber said firmly. Blade Dragoon was in shock yet angry. He continued, "Uncle, have you forgotten what Bladestrike has said? You and I know this is wrong! Skysoar was wrong about this! We've made the promise to Ben and his friends that we will save Twilight and her friends."

"But..." Blade Dragoon said in shock and concern.

"Father, please don't do it," Rogue pleaded.

Bullock nodded, "Yeah! Think about it, boss! You can't do this!"

"I beg of you! Don't kill her!" Hook pleaded, "She's Lord Ben's friend."

“Don’t kill, mommy, please! She is doing what she felt was right.” Nyx said worried.

“You even harm her….” Ben mumbled a bit but Twilight stops him from finishing by shaking her head. “Ugh, fine.”

Blade Dragoon gave some thoughts of what he was doing. He sighed in defeat and shame, "Very well. Go, my Lord Azure Phoenix and Princess Twilight. Leave this place..."

Azure Phoenix and his Imperial Phoenix Army sighed in relief. All of them quickly take their leave at once. Twilight and her friends were still behind as they were looking at Ben and his friends.

"I really hate this..." Ben commented dryly.

Twilight sighed, "I know. But Ben, you know we want Three Kingdoms to be friends than enemies. If you can-!"

"I know. I will try my best. I just hope you stay alive."

"Me too, Ben. Me too."

“Right….” Twilight said as she nuzzles her love. “No worries, this isn’t the last time we will see each other.”

“Ugh, I wish I could join ya…..this is hell.” Ben sighs sadly.

“I know. Come on, let’s go.”

“Yeah….bye daddy,” Nyx said sadly as her group joins Twilight while they take their leave.

Twilight and her friends trotted off and regrouped with Azure Phoenix and his main forces. They're now heading back to Jing Province's Palace. Blade Dragoon and his allies can do now is watch them run away with their lives.

"Saber, what the heck was that about?" Ben demanded angrily, "Why kill Twilight?! I thought you guys promised us that we will rescue and get them back home!"

“I didn’t sign up just so I will kill somepony I cared about!” Applejack yells furiously at Blade Dragoon furiously.

“Yeah, what you did was uncalled for and borders on wanting to kick your flank all over this ground!”

Saber sighed, "I'm sorry, Ben. It's complicated and messy."

"Father..." Rogue asked in concern.

"I couldn't do it," Blade Dragoon said shamefully, "I was too shame to kill Azure Phoenix and Twilight because of my debt and promise. I am ashamed to my brothers and you all. Forgive me..."

"Blade Dragoon?" Ben asked in shock and concern. He hissed, "I don't understand. I understand Azure Phoenix must die, but why her?! Why did you all want to kill Twilight?!"

"Because she will interfere my master plans for my lord. I cannot let that happen," Skysoar said firmly and calmly as he teleported himself before his allies. He glared at Ben and his friends, "You should not have interfere it."

“Seriously, dude?” Sandbar yells at Skysoar in disbelief. “You promised to help get them back, now you decided to pull this?!”

Skysoar scoffed a bit, "This is for the greater good. I have high hope that you will finally forget her and help our lord. But instead, you hesitated and failed to do what is necessary to save our land. You chose friendship over mission."

“And what you did was a load of horse crap!” Ben yells out furiously. He wanted to attack Skysoar but kept his emotions in check. “We’re doing this to save the world, not kill those we care for!”

“If what you got in mind involves killing Twilight, then buck you!” Applejack snapped furiously at Skysoar. “No murder is worth being necessary to save our land. Friendship is magic, not murder or cruelty!”

"It doesn't matter. Everything is in set," Skysoar said calmly as he looked at the sky, "The whole purpose of letting Azure Phoenix escaped with his life, so that we have enough time."

"Time for what?!" Applejack demanded.

“For you being a dick,” Ben scowls furiously at Skysoar. “I swear to the Gods, if you or any of your pals pulled a stunt like that again, we will take our pals and say buck you, we’re outta here!”

“Whoa, Ben, Ben,” Blade Dragoon exclaims in alarm by this. “You don’t want to do that.”

“I don’t care! But seriously, what is he even on about?!”

Skysoar narrowed his firm eyes, "For Lord Virtue Dragon's rise to power. It is time to walk a path fraught with great danger. The Three Kingdom Strategy can finally begin..."

While Blade Dragoon and his team remained firm and calm, Ben and his team can't help but feel uneasy and worried about Skysoar's plan, involving of three forces, which resulted death and losses. Sooner or later...

Ben hissed, "I've got a bad feeling about this..."
