//------------------------------// // Prologue: Birthday Disaster // Story: A Daedra's Kingdom // by Randablitz //------------------------------// (Previously in Wolf of Oblivion, Canterlot Castle, Winter P.O.V) Suddenly the sky began to darken for no reason. “What’s happening?” I asked. “It’s not even seven ‘oclock yet!” I said as I looked at the clock. I turned my attention to the window and saw a giant golden and complex rune in the sky, causing swirling clouds and what seemed like harsh winds. Then suddenly strange beings with various types of armor appearing out of nowhere. “Some things never change I suppose.” I heard dad say as the castle started to fill with invading soldiers of an unknown kingdom. The soldiers advanced towards me, but Mairon summoned his sword. “Back away.” He warned. A soldier with a shield and sword ignored him and lunged for me, but Mairon slashed the soldier with finesse and he fell to the ground; dead. “Mairon, take Winter and get out of here!”  Dad yelled as he blasted a small group of creatures with a fireball. Mairon nodded as he took my hand and we ran out of the room. “Can you fly?” He asked. “Yes. Why?” I asked. “We’ll head for the hangar Inkaizo set up for the orbital station." he said. “Okay, hold on to me after we jump.” I said as I gave my wings a couple of flaps. Mairon nodded and we sprinted for the nearest balcony and we jumped off the railing. As we were in free fall, Mairon wrapped himself around my body as I used my wings to stabilize us in the air. “Nice save.” Mairon said with a smile. “Thanks.” I replied. “Watch out!” He cried as a beam of magic barely missed my wing. Despite the near miss, the displaced air from the spell threw off my flight and ended up crashing into a building, briefly disoriented by the impact, I realized we were too far from the hangar, and I didn’t want to attempt to fly with a minor head injury. The worst part was that there were more soldiers everywhere. These soldiers looked different from the ones before and the threw some sort of glowing blue stone at me and three magic projectiles flew towards me. I moved my hand to activate my lightsaber, only to find it wasn’t on my belt anymore. “Oh no!” I gasped. The red and blue soldiers moved closer to attack me, and I raised my hands to hopefully block them. Just as they were within blasting range, my right hand lit up in bright light that sent all of the soldiers in the vicinity flying into the walls and fell to the floor. The light began to subside and I ran away to find Mairon, but I draw a small clump of gold mist entering me. “Huh, this is new.” I said as I patted my chest. “I guess all that training in swordplay has a purpose other than lightsaber combat.” I mused. The ground suddenly started shaking and the building I was next to were somehow wrenched out of the ground, causing me to tumble around until I eventually fell out of the window and landed on the street...or so I thought. Looking up, I could see I was on what seemed like a chunk of some Canterlot’s streets and building rubble that was on the rubble island, much more rubble and many buildings that I didn’t recognize flying around in a twister. Mairon was starting to wake up. “Meleth? Where are we?” He asked. “I don’t know, but it looks kinda pretty if we weren’t being attacked by those soldiers .” I replied. The rubble island suddenly shuddered and I saw a huge golden glowing tree could be seen in the distance. We looked up and saw we’ve seen before. “By the Valar! It’s enormous!” Mairon exclaimed. “It’s beautiful.” I replied as I held my onto Mairon as we looked out at the giant golden tree off in the distance. “Is that tree similar to the ones you said Melkor and Ungoliant destroyed?” I asked. “No. This tree seems to be more than a source of light, but a massive landmark to keep us centered.” He said as he pulled my lightsaber out and handed it to me. “Let’s see if we can get to where that tree is.” He said as he walked down the path that laid before us. We walked up to a massive archway and we saw a statue of a woman. Our sightseeing was interrupted by something that looked like a science experiment gone wrong lane in front of us and began to swing its two swords at us. We dodged a few swings, but one hit me in my left arm. “Lucky hit. Shame it’ll be your last.” I said as I flexed my wings. Mairon continued to dodge the creature multiple times, but was sent flying when the creature smacked him to the ground with its shield. I didn’t hesitate to strike a blow while the creature was distracted, but the creature screamed as I charged at it. I immediately placed my hands on my ears to block the sound, but the creature smashed Mairon and I underneath its shield. (Cave of Knowledge, 3rd P.O.V) In a dark cave somewhere in the new land Winter and Mairon have found themselves in, a horse with horns came up to the unconscious couple. “They are chosen. I wonder if they have what it takes to become the next Elden Lord Torrent. Let us leave them with a gift to help them on their way.” A mysterious woman says as she places two sets of flasks near the unconscious couple and leaves them.
