A Surprise Visitor at Paradise Estate

by Brian Sheil

Ghost Pony spotted and identified

Twilight Sparkle and her friends were all standing in front of a beautiful old manor as the sun sets over Equestria. Mayor Mare stands with them.
“So, this is Paradise Estate.” Twilight said.
“That’s correct.” The mayor replied. “In the days of Ponyland, ponies were all living in a beautiful place called Dream Castle. However, shapeless purple creatures called Smooze oozed on in and destroyed that place. Fortunately, the mystical troll known as the Moochic used his magic to create this place.”
“I thought something like this would crumble after two thousand years.” Rarity wondered.
“From what I heard,” Applejack said, “the mayor had workers from all over to have this building rebuilt and restored.”
“So, why are we here?” Rainbow Dash wondered.
The mayor gave a scary answer. “For the past four nights, ponies claim they saw glowing lights in Paradise Estate. But, no lights were turned on. I’m thinking, a ghost is in there.”
“A ghost?!” Pinkie Pie shouted, hiding behind Rarity.
“Pinkie, darling.” Rarity said. “There are no such things as ghosts.”
“But, if the mayor is right, and there is something in this place,” Twilight figured, “we should at least check it out.”
“That’s the spirit, Mane Six!” Mayor Mare happily said. “I’m heading back to Ponyville. Let me know what you find.”
As the mayor leaves, Twilight and her friends march towards Paradise Estate.
“Come on, girls.” Twilight Sparkle commanded. “Let’s find this thing.”
“If it’s a ghost,” Fluttershy wondered, “I hope it’s friendly.”
The six pony friends carefully walk through the gates. Soon, they enter the estate, looking around with astonishment on their faces.
“Sweet Celestia.” Rarity said. “This place is amazing.”
“Yeah.” Rainbow Dash added. “Those ponies of Ponyland were lucky. Get a load of this living room!”
“I agree, Dashie. Twilight and I can lounge well on this furniture.”
Twilight looks at the couch, and agreed with Rarity. “Great place to sit down for some reading.”
“Girls!” Pinkie shouted from another room. “Look at this!”
The other ponies caught up to Pinkie. Rainbow sees an opportunity to tease the party pony.
“What’s wrong, Pinks?” Rainbow asked sarcastically. “See a ghost?”
“That was not nice, RD.” Applejack interjected.
“It’s not a ghost.” Pinkie answered. “I’m squealing about this kitchen. It’s gorgeous!”
The ponies look around the kitchen. Pinkie is right. It is very roomy.
“I’ll bet Granny Smith would be jealous of this room.” Applejack said.
“Mr. and Mrs. Cake too.” Pinkie added. “They would probably love this place.”
Rarity realized that somepony is missing. “Has anypony seen Fluttershy?”
They were all starting to get concerned until they heard Fluttershy’s voice.
“Hey, girls.” Fluttershy called from the next room. “Take a look at this.”
The others went into the next room, which turns out to be a nursery.
“Aw.” Twilight cooed. “This is so adorable.”
The nursery has everything to take care of baby ponies. Cribs, changing tables, storage bin for diapers, and other things.
“Wow!” Pinkie chirped. “This is a great place to take care of Pumpkin and Pound Cake.”
“And, baby Flurry Heart too.” Twilight added.
Suddenly, they heard a mysterious voice call to them. “That’s a good thought.”
They turned around, and saw a shocking sight. A transparent light magenta pegasus with a blue mane and tail. The pony also had blue lightning bolts for a cutie mark.
“Oh my.” Twilight gasped. “A ghost pony.”
Everyone was surprised as the ghost pony walked towards the alicorn of the group.
“Princess Twilight Sparkle.” The ghost greeted. “It’s an honor to meet you.”
Twilight was surprised from that greeting. “You know about me?”
“I do. As well as the rest of the Mane Six.”
The ghostly pegasus walks up to Rainbow Dash. “Hi, Rainbow Dash. How’s the speedster of this team?”
Rainbow looked at the ghost and realized something. “You kind of look like me. Color of body, mane, and tail are different of course. But, you could be my twin.”
“Don’t forget my cutie mark.”
Dash realized that the ghost is right. “Oh yeah. You have two lightning bolts. And, I have one. Plus a cloud.”
The ghost walks over to the party pony. “What’s up, Pinkie Pie? A little scared of ghosts. Huh?”
“A little.” Pinkie answered nervously.
“Don’t panic. Not all ghosts are scary, you know.”
Suddenly, a white glowing portal appeared.
“Sorry, friends.” The ghost said sadly. “I have to go back to the spirit realm. Nice meeting all of you. Hope to see you again.”
The ghost pegasus flew through the portal, then it closed.
“Hoo-wee.” Applejack said. “That’s one energetic ghost pony.”
“I agree.” Rarity added. “At least she’s friendly.”
Twilight Sparkle got her friends gathered. “Let’s go home, everypony. We’ll discuss more about this in the morning.”
The next day, at her castle, Twilight and her friends discuss their experience last night.
“A ghostly pegasus?” Spike yelped. “I sure missed a lot.”
“Believe me, Spike.” Twilight replied. “This ghost is a fascinating pony. And, it was friendly to us.”
“I wish I saw that ghost last night.” Starlight Glimmer said. “I’d like to learn about it.”
“If you weren’t busy helping Trixie with her magic act.” Rarity indicated.
“That’s true. Trixie’s act has been getting better since I’ve been helping her.”
Fluttershy starts to wonder about this whole thing. “Are we going back to Paradise Estate to see this ghost again?”
“Looks that way to me, sugar cube.” Applejack answered.
“With some extra help.” Rainbow Dash added.
Pinkie’s eyes widened. “Extra help? What do you mean?”
Rainbow Dash gave everpony a good suggestion. “Paradise Estate is from the days of Ponyland. Right?”
“That’s right, Rainbow Dash.” Twilight replied.
The speedster then continued her suggestion. “Who do we know that used to visit Ponyland on a regular basis?”
They realized what Rainbow’s idea was. Then, they all shouted the answer. “Megan!”
“Right. If we bring Megan here, she might help us identify the ghost.”
“Rainbow Dash is right.” Twilight said happily. “This ghost might be a pony from her past.”
“I agree, darling.” Rarity added. “Besides. I think our human friend might want to see Paradise Estate. Since it’s part of HER past as well as this ghost.”
Later that day, as the sun sets over Ponyville, Twilight and her friends return to Paradise Estate. This time, Megan tagged along with them. She was shocked to see the building.
“Oh my gosh!” Megan uttered. “I can’t believe this place is restored. I spent many nights here.”
“We figured you appreciate this place, Megan.” Twilight figured. “Especially since you remember it.”
“But, what about this ghost pony?”
“Y’all have nothin’ to fear with the six of us by you side.” Applejack informed. “Let’s go.”
The group of friends entered the estate. Inside, they all look around.
“Wow.” Megan cooed. “This sure takes me back.”
“Too bad we’re not sight seeing, darling.” Rarity said with concern. “We are looking for that ghost.”
“That’s true, Rarity.”
The group entered the nursery. They all look around as Megan gives a short explanation. “I remember when baby ponies are well cared for here.”
“Those baby ponies must’ve been so cute.” Fluttershy wondered.
Suddenly, Pinkie saw a light outside the window. “I see a moving light out there! It might be the ghost!”
The group went outside. They soon discovered something amazing.
“A swimming pool?” Rainbow shouted. “Awesome!”
Then, the voice of the ghost pony called to them. “Hi, Mane Six. Glad you can come back.”
Everyone turned and saw the ghost pony. She smiled at the group.
“That’s the ghost we told you about.” Twilight informed Megan. “Turns out she’s connected to this place.”
Megan slowly walked up to the ghost pony. The group of friends were concerned.
“Please be careful, Megan.” Fluttershy said with concern.
Megan and the ghost pony looked at each other for a few seconds. Suddenly, Megan smiled and called out a special name. “Firefly!”
The ghost smiled back. “I thought you’d recognize me, Megan!”
The girl and the ghost pony soon hugged each other. That’s when Megan got shocked. “How can I hug you? You’re a ghost!”
“Believe it or not,” Firefly explained, “the spirit realm lets certain ghosts hold things and other beings as if we’re still alive.”
“Wow. That’s interesting.” Megan soon cuddled the pony again as tears came down her cheeks. “It’s good to see you again, Firefly.”
“It’s good to see you again too, Megan.”
The Mane Six watched with warm feelings in their hearts.
“Firefly. Huh?” Twilight Sparkle said. “That’s a good name.”
“And, what a sweet pony she is.” Fluttershy added.
The white portal appeared again on the wall. Megan noticed it. “Firefly, does this mean you have to go back?”
“I’m afraid so.” Firefly answered. “But, don’t worry. We’ll see each other again. Bye, Megan.”
Firefly flew back into the portal, and it closed. Megan stood, almost frozen as Rarity approached her.
“Are you okay, darling?” Rarity asked.
Megan looked at the elegant pony. Tears are still flowing. “I’ll be fine, Rarity. It’s just a warm feeling seeing Firefly again.”
“What’s your connection with that filly anyway?” Applejack asked.
Megan wiped the tears from her eyes, calmed down, and gave an answer. “Firefly was the very pegasus that took me to Ponyland in the first place.”
“The pony that started it all for you.” Fluttershy said. “That’s so wonderful.”
“That pony was very friendly to me.” Rainbow Dash stated. “Do you think Firefly is my ancestor?”
“Could be.” Megan answered. “I never thought of that.”
Megan and the Mane Six left Paradise Estate and headed back to Ponyville. Everyone wondered what other ponies from the past will visit Equestria.
