Soarin's eyes were shut, but his senses were wide awake when it happened. He felt a dash of wind fly against his coat bringing a familiar scent with it to him from when he used to work in the Weather Factory. The spice from rainbows. Slowly, he opened up his eyes and there in front of him was a cyan blue mare. He recognized her from the Best Young Fliers Competition. They had talked after, but out of exhaustion from the traumatic fall he had taken, he paid no attention to the mare's appearance. He felt idiotic on how he didn't to, she was stunning. His eyes trailed from the beautifully tailored,spectra-colored dress she was wearing to her rose colored eyes as they met with his. Soarin suddenly felt warm inside, As if the pie she saved was within him. Anxiety had grown in the pit of his stomach and made it ache. Why was Soarin the Wonderbolt nervous? It was unlike him. After many of the life threatening tricks he had done, He had never been this nervous before. The anxiety and passion grew as they stared more and he felt the exhilaration of flying burst into his body. He felt as if he could stare at her for hours. He felt at peace, yet so nervous while looking at this beautiful rainbow manned pegasus by just looking into her rosy eyes. Her scent, along with the apple pie, filled the air. Rainbow noticed his strong gaze and couldn't help but stare back into his gleaming emerald eyes. Something about the colt lit a spark in her, but maybe that was the fact that he was her idol. But this felt... Different... A feeling she had never felt before with any colt. She couldn't explain it. She tried avoiding it, but with their eyes locked, the spark emitted more passionately. She felt heat in her face and prayed it wasn't noticeable. They both couldn't articulate anything. They stood and stared for which seemed like forever. Soarin thought of asking her if they could hang out one day or go to the park, but out of sheer nervousness, he spat out "You saved it! Thanks" , grabbed the pie, and trotted away. Maybe next time he thought. 3 Days Later... Soarin woke up with a jolt as celestia's sun peaked through his window. He winced in pain from his aching muscles that came with the daily warmup routine for the Wonderbolts. He got to his hoofs and trotted to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. His light blue coat shriveled with sleep, his usual bags under his mid green eyes. He noticed he had a rather sad look on his face, but ignored it and went on his normal routine for getting ready. When Soarin got to the Wonderbolts HQ, he got straight to his warm up. Even though it had been 3 days after the gala, he couldn't get this mares eyes out from his mind. It haunted him in a beautiful way. But he didn't let it get in the way of his job. No, his passion. He dreamed of joining the Wonderbolts since he was a young colt, but was never rooted to follow the dream. His schoolmates and His own parents, who showed no affection to the idea, didn't seem to care when he would go on about how when he got older, he would want to apply. He never got support from them, and didn't expect it from them. It only made him stronger. It made him more devoted to his training. And finally, against all odds, he got in. He's not gonna let one night get in the way. He unfurled his wings and dashed forward, hoping the wind from his flying would help him forget that night. Most importantly, Rainbow Dash. Dash grumbled and pushed her muzzle deeper into her cloud pillow when she felt the sun beat down on her. She tried falling back into sleeps grasp, but it was no use. She was awake. She got onto her hooves and stretched her wings. She gave a sly smile. She was no morning person, but her self pride turned on for the day. She trotted over to her nearby bathroom and examined herself in the mirror. Her vibrant spectrum colored mane was messy and out of place. With a couple shakes of her head, she was satisfied with the look, and started for the window, when she saw the golden laurel sparkle from the corner of her eye. She held it in her hoofs, taking in its realistic detail and involuntarily placed it over her ear. And as the headpiece touched her head, it was as if the memories of that night flew back to her mind simultaneously. Although the night wasn't as satisfied as she wanted it to be, she felt good around the end of that night. The thing that was most memorable was the look in Soarin's eyes when she gave him the pie. Even though it was a very short moment, she felt as if it lasted forever. Dash felt silly for obsessing over a short moment in time, but ever since, she had been batting her feelings. All through flight school she was bullied by young colts and the occasional filly. It had taught her to be skeptical with almost everypony. But with Soarin, she felt comfortable to be around, as if he would protect her somehow. Again, she pondered the idea of him being her idol that is causing her to feel this way, but she just couldn't answer that question. She felt something in her very being that she never wanted to let go, but it was gone. Just like the night at the Gala. She wanted to stare into his eyes once more to refresh that feeling. "Hmmph... I sound like Rarity.." she mumbled softly to herself. She threw off the headpiece and dashed for the window. Nothing would get into her way with her flying... Although something caught her attention... A pink cloud?
