"No way! It's the whole gang: You, Luigi, and paper you!" I knew Button Mash would be amazed when I gathered the Paper Jam trio back together.
Paper Mario gave a thumbs-up, while Luigi said, "Oh yeah!"
"What's the occasion, Mario? Some kind of sweet adventure around Equestria that involves beating up a bad guy or two?"
"Not this time, little guy. We were actually going to visit Applejack to help her harvest the apple trees, and we wanted to see if you wanted to come with us to watch."
"A chance to be with the Mario Bros? I'd never pass up that offer! Mom, can I go with the Mario trio?"
"Of course you can, Button Mash. Don't get yourself in trouble!"
"Thanks, Mom! Ooh, I've always wanted to say this! Let's-a go!" It made me glad to see Button so happy.
When we reached the farm, Applejack was working up a sweat bucking the apples out of the trees alongside a large red stallion. "Hello, Applejack!" I said. "Who's your big red buddy over there?"
"Oh, ya mean Big Macintosh? He's mah older brother. Ain't that right, Big Mac?"
The stallion replied in a deep voice, "Eeyup."
"...He don't talk much. Usually, y'all can only get a 'yep' or 'nope' outta him."
Paper Mario jumped twice and tipped his cap to Big Mac. I explained, "Paper me doesn't talk much either. He normally uses body language to get his message across. But that isn't why we came here. We wanted to help you harvest the apple trees. Can we?"
Applejack smiled. "Well, sure ya can. I'd like to see how good y'all are at it, so show me what ya got!"
"Oh yeah, Mario time!" I pulled out a cannon that looked like a barrel and had a red and green arrow on it. Luigi and I got in, and it split into eight cannons, with either me or Luigi in each one. That's-a right--four of me, and four of Luigi! We fired ourselves at various trees, knocking down apples from each, and removing our clones.
"Huh, you're pretty good. But can y'all do without fancy thingamajigs?"
"You haven't seen anything yet!" I motioned to Luigi, who nodded. He jumped towards me, and I grabbed his hands to swing him around and around like I did to Bowser before letting go, sending him flying into an apple tree. His kick knocked down enough apples to bury him! "Will that do?"
"I gotta admit, that's really good... at least, for one tree."
Paper Mario flashed his hammer, and Luigi and I nodded. We pulled out our own hammers, and I hammered the ground. Then Luigi hammered my hammer, and Paper Mario hammered Luigi's hammer, creating a big shock wave that knocked down a bunch of apples from all the trees around us.
I think we impressed Applejack and Big Mac, because their jaws were dropped. "...Whoa. Y'all are the real deal!"
Button smirked. "You wouldn't be so shocked if you knew Mare-io like the back of your hoof!"
After a hard afternoon's work, with AJ and Big Mac being repeatedly amazed by me, Luigi, and Paper me the whole time, we returned to Button Mash's home to rest. Well, until... "So, what's next? We going to do a Mare-io Party, or act out a battle scene, or...?" Mama mia! Here we go again!
"Button, dear, maybe we should let them rest first." Mother knows best!
