Winning Her Heart

"First Impressions Aren't Everything......Right?"

Every Saturday, early in the morning, Twilight would go for a nice, long, walk, at her favorite park. It was her dear friend Rainbow Dash's favorite park too. Dash is the one who recommended it to Twilight. Twilight liked to walk at this particular time because it wasn't as crowded or loud, and the golden light coming from the rising sun made things ten times as beautiful.

It was always the same routine. Twilight would come to walk around the entire park once, have a picnic lunch there, read a little of whatever book she was reading at the time, and left.

But today was just a little different.

Today, she saw someone she had been dying to see again. The someone who made her believe in 'love at first sight'.

That very someone was just walking past. It had been a quite a while since the two had met, but Twilight could recognize those majestic and beautiful sky blue eyes anywhere, any day. She saw the someone of her dreams.

He saw her too, their eyes met for a moment. Then, he started to approach her. Twilight was a nervous wreck. Did her hair look okay? Should she have put on some makeup that day? Was her outfit too formal, or not formal enough? Did it look like she actually got the recommended eight hours of sleep last night?

All those questions didn't matter, because he was right there, standing in front of her.

Is it me, or does he look even more breath-taking than last time?

"Hey, you're that girl. Twilight Sparkle." His voice was so soothing, she could listen to him talk all day.

Twilight opened her mouth, but couldn't get the words out. "Y-yeah," She finally managed to choke out.

"Nice to finally meet you again! I'm Star Hunter." He said.

Star Hunter? Where have I heard that name before?

"I'm Twilight Sparkle, but I suppose you already knew that. I mean, you just said so yourself, just now. So...yeah.."

What's wrong with you Twilight? Pull yourself together.

"We met a few weeks ago, when I delivered that letter." Star Hunter changed the subject.

"Yeah. No offense, but I don't really take you as a mail man kind of guy." Twilight said.

"Yeah...me neither. I was helping out my uncle that day. He has a daughter, which makes her my cousin. You might know her. Her name is Derpy Hooves."

"Yeah I know her! She's the one with the...um...eyes." Twilight giggled.

"Heh, yeah." Twilight and Star Hunter sat in silence. Twilight couldn't help but steal glances towards Star Hunter. Hopefully he didn't catch her staring. If he did, he didn't seem to mind it.

He is the cutest person I have ever met!

"So, um...your friend Rainbow Dash. I met her again, twice actually. She talked about you." Star Hunter broke the silence.

"Good things, I hope?" She met with him, and she didn't even tell me? Is there something I'm missing here?

"Well...not exactly."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Twilight's smile faded.

"She said that sometimes... 'you can be a jerk'." Star Hunter said.

"What? She said I can be a jerk?" Twilight looked angry.

I can't believe she said those things about me. Why would she do that?

"Don't worry, I don't believe her. I think you're an amazing person, and I've only met you once before."

Those words made Twilights cheeks burn bright red. "T-thank you."

Suddenly, a faint ringing sound was heard. Twilight soon realized it was coming from Star Hunter's pocket. Star Hunter grabbed his phone out of his pocket.

"Sorry, I gotta take this..It's uh..um..my mom, yeah my mom." Star Hunter walked a few feet away from Twilight. Twilight didn't mean to eavesdrop, but she couldn't help but over hear the conversation. Or parts of it, anyway.

"Hey. No, no, I'm not doing anything that important right now."

"Look, I'm sorry I left you like that, okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, of course. I'll be there in ten. Don't worry."

Star Hunter hung up, and turned to Twilight.

"Hey, I uh..I gotta go. Here's my cellphone number. You can text me anytime you want." Star Hunter quickly scribbled some numbers onto a piece of paper, and gave it to Twilight.

Then he turned and left, leaving Twilight all alone.

Something was off about him. Almost like he didn't want to be here...

Scratching her head full of pink, violet, and blue locks of hair, Twilight wondered if Star Hunter was really all that.

"He was probably just in a hurry. After all, first impressions aren't everything."

"Right?"

On Monday morning, Twilight was really excited to tell all of her friends that she met Star Hunter out of school just the other day. Before she could do that, however, she wanted to talk to Rainbow Dash about something first.

"Hey Rainbow?" Twilight said when she reached Dash's locker.

"Huh? Oh. Hey Twi." Rainbow was caught off guard by Twilight's voice.

"I wanted to talk about something."

"Oh. Yeah sure, what is it?"

"You see, I met Star Hunter on Saturday and he said-"

"Hold up. You actually met him? And on Saturday?" Rainbow looked gloomier than ever as soon as she heard that news.

"Yeah. Is there a problem?"

"Nope....no problem at all. Continue, what did he say?"

"He said that you said I....can be a 'jerk' sometimes. Do you really think that? Have I been doing something to upset you? If I'm being a bad friend, you could just let me know." Twilight looked a little uneasy. The question made Rainbow feel uneasy too.

"Well...I..um..I think that sometimes-" Rainbow was about to come up with a response, but just then, the bell rang.

Saved by the bell... Rainbow thought.

"We'll have to continue this discussion later. I'll see you in biology...." Twilight hurried off to Advanced Physics, which was her next class.

So they met, huh? And he told her what I said about her? Man, I'm never trusting this guy again.
