They all were recruiting and training their army for the next battle as they do not wish to make same mistake again after underestimating Azure Phoenix's army adapting to the naval battle. And at the same time, they have sent three spies - Tigress, Ocellus and Smolder to enemy camp for spying and learning more of their enemies' strength and weakness, that could be used for their allies to turn the tide against them. Thanks to Ocellus's shape-shifting ability, she managed to infiltrate the enemy camp while carrying the supply wagon, which contained Tigress and Smolder, covered by blanket. After entering the enemy base's supply depot, they began quickly left the wagon and headed off to begin their spy. All of them worn Imperial Phoenix uniforms. Three spies have witnessed the military training and might of Imperial Phoenix Army. The enemy troops were relentless, fierce and determined in training their combat and adapting to new surroundings on both ground and naval battle. The spies also found many soldiers were suffering seasickness. They were all admitted to the medic tents, where Fluttershy and some medic staffs were checking and treating their wounds as best as they can. Strikespell was there as he was looking after his wife Fluteheart, who has yet recovered from her seasickness. This make him worried and uneasy to see her in terrible conditions. "After surviving the first battle, the Alliance of Virtue Dragon and Courage Tiger cannot afford to underestimate their enemy's disadvantage again," The Narrator narrated, "So, all they can do now is to train their army and prepare for next battles, as well as observing and learning more of Imperial Phoenix Army's strength, weaknesses and strategies. Hoping, they could find a way to tip the balance to their favor before they could engage the naval battle. And so, they sent three best spies to enemy territory to do so." Tigress, Ocellus and Smolder headed off to another area, where they found a large number of soldiers were playing Cuju, which is also known as a soccer game. They have found 12 Jing Province Ponies worn white uniforms were challenging with 12 the blue uniformed Imperial Phoenix Soldiers. To their shock and surprise, Gallus was among the soldiers and playing on Imperial Phoenix Side. he score is 10:12. They even found Azure Phoenix and his officials were sitting on one long bench on the stage as they were watching the event with pride and enjoyment. "And at the same time, Azure Phoenix has double the training of his military army under the tutelage of Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt for their naval battle, as well as solving his army's seasickness problem." "I can't believe Gallus is playing soccer for that jerk!" Smolder complained in annoyance. "Technically, it's called Cuju for the Land of Ma," Ocellus corrected her. "Potato, po-ta-to! What's the difference? It's still soccer!" Smolder exclaimed in annoyance. Tigress shushed, "Quiet. We have to get near to the stage to find out of what's really going on." Ocellus and Smolder nodded firmly. Tigress then led her two friends passing through the crowd quietly and cautiously as they're approaching to the stage. They stayed close to the stage while watching the event as they eavesdropping on the enemy conversation. "Wow! Lord Azure, you really enjoy this sport," Bullhound commented happily. "Indeed..." Navy Arrow agreed in amazement, "What changes your mind, cousin? You don't usually play the game until you finish the battlefield. So, what's the catch?" "Nothing special, Navy Arrow," Azure Phoenix said calmly as he looked closely at Gallus, who was quick and swift in moving and kicking the ball to his teammates, who passed it back to him. This allowed him to score the goal in hitting the box hole. He hummed thoughtfully, "I'm merely seeing which soldier is effective and good enough to be next commander of the battalion. And I believe you know whom I'm referring to." "Uh... Michelangelo?" Laxtinct asked happily, making Azure Phoenix glared at him. He yelped, "What? I was just asking." "Gallus, I presumed?" Clawdestroyer answered firmly, making Azure Phoenix smiled a bit. He sighed, "I hate to admit. He does have the potential, but what he lacks the most is his resolve and determination of getting the job done. If there's anyway I can reach him, he would have become a great commander of the army." "I agreed with General Clawdestroyer's assessment," Bladestrike said firmly and calmly, "Gallus's indeed a brave fighter, but what he does not have is motivation and resolve. If we do give him a mission with consequence, then he would become of what we expected." "Speaking of 'expectation'," Snaptrap said calmly as he looked at Azure Phoenix, "My lord, the enemy hasn't make the move since the first battle. I feared that they clearly making a plan to turn the tide against us." "Master Snaptrap is right. We were lucky that our little training has minimize the damages and repel the invasion as well," Woren said calmly, "Our troops are still adapting to new changes. And we need the plan that could prevent them from being distracted and falling to sickness." "I agreed." Azure Phoenix said firmly and calmly. He slowly turned and looked at Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt, "It's the reason why I'm relying on both admirals with training and strategy." Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt bowed humbly, "We are honored, my lord." After few rounds have passed, Imperial Phoenix Players have won the Cuju Game. Both team bowed humbly before Azure Phoenix, who approached to them while looking at Gallus. "Gallus, am I right?" Azure Phoenix asked firmly. Gallus nodded a bit. He continued, "I must admit. Gallus, you possessed some great skills especially playing sports. And I know you will not trust me, but you will do as I command because your friends are working with me until we end the chaos. This means you must kill the enemies including Virtue Dragon and Courage Tiger. Or there will be consequence." Gallus scoffed in annoyance, "Figures... What do you want me to do?" "I'm promoting you to be battalion commander of the General Clawdestroyer's company and also his Second-in-Command." "Wait?! What?! Are you kidding me or something?!" "I do not joke, Gallus. I am serious. So, do not fail me," Azure Phoenix said calmly and firmly, shocking and worrying Gallus. The blue Griffon bowed humbly. He then turned to his army, "My brave soldiers of Imperial Phoenix! If we win this battle, then next five years, there will be no taxes to pay for whole family!" "Thank you, Prime Minister! We will do our best!" Imperial Phoenix Army cheered wildly and happily. The Imperial Phoenix Army cheered and applauded happily to hear Azure Phoenix's proposal if they win the battle. Tigress, Ocellus and Smolder couldn't help but feel worry and uneasy about it. -------------------------------------------- Gallus returned to his quarter, bringing along with his new uniform and badge. He tried them on at once. He now worn Chinese Military Commander's Armor and worn a helmet. He then looked at the mirror. He hummed happily before showing off his muscle and fighting skills. "Congratulation, Gallus. Looks like you've made as the commander!" Smolder's voice commented. Gallus was surprised as he turned to his back and found Tigress, Silverstream, Ocellus and Smolder stood before him. Gallus gasped, "Guys, you're here!" He charged and gave his friends a warm hug, "What the heck are you doing here?! And how did you get here?!" “Spying and blending in.” Ocellus explains to her friend happily. “That and this place has the second worst security ever.” Smolder comments with a light chuckle. Gallus scoffed, "I'm just glad to see your guys." He then showed off his commander uniform, "So, what do you think?" “You look like a dork. But you’re kind of our dork.” Smolder comments with a shrug. “You ain’t no princess yourself.” "So, you're here to rescue us or something?" Silverstream asked curiously. "Not exactly," Tigress said firmly, "We're here to spy on our enemies. To find our what they're doing and planning." “Right. We want to end this silly war thing and get our friends back ASAP.” Ocellus explains to her friends calmly. “That means…” “Yeah, yeah, we get it.” Gallus said, rolling his eyes in amusement. “We ain’t in school, kid.” "Spies?! Oh! I wanna play spies!" Silverstream said happily. Smolder yelped as she grabbed and held Silverstream's beak, "Silverstream, are you trying to get us killed?!" “Right, shhhhh. Come on!” Gallus insists, shushing her. “Bad enough that Azure Phoenix is making life for us a living Tartarus as it is!” “Yeah, like what he said!” "Oops! Sorry," Silverstream apologized. "So, do you need help or something?" Gallus asked. Tigress nodded, "Yeah. Just make sure no troops come close to us when we're spying." She then wrote down on piece of notes before turned to the pigeon, "Since you both are commanders of the army, you can handle the troops." “Right. The last thing we want is have our heads cut off.” Smolder remarks, shuddering a bit. “Disgusting.” “Tell me about it.” Ocellus remarks in agreement. Gallus shrugged, "Sure, why not?" "This is gonna be fun!" Silverstream exclaimed playfully. -------------------------------------------- At the Red Cliff Main Camp, the Alliance of Virtue Dragon and Courage Tiger were recruiting and training their army for the next naval battles. Blade Dragoon, Warpath and Dragonspear were training their army, along with their new friends - Hammerod, Thunderbold, Pirate Scythe and Trip. Virtue Dragon, Skysoar Intellect, Saber, Courage Tiger, Aqua, Riverstrike, Apollo, Anchor, Sam, Ben and his friends about their next plan to fight and repel Imperial Phoenix Army as they do not wish to repeat the same mistakes again. Suddenly, the pigeon flew and entered the main camp, surprising the group. Skysoar noticed it as he whistled gently, attracting its attention towards. After taking the pigeon, he took the piece of paper from its talon. He read it carefully while the rest of his friends looked at him. Skysoar turned and looked at his friends, "Clearly, the Imperial Phoenix Army is getting fierce and determined before with the naval training especially Admiral Cai and Admiral Pitt are coming up with new strategy due to many soldiers are still suffering from seasickness..." “Well, this could give us the advantage.” Ben said, scratching his chin thoughtfully. “Right, seasickness can be a pain in the flank.” Rainbow remarked as she slams a hoof in the other. “As Applejack would tell you.” Rarity giggled. She recalled how funny it is for her friend to get seasick sometimes. "And also, both Gallus and Silverstream are being promoted to be Second-in-Command to Clawdestroyer and Blazefist," Skysoar added with tone of playfulness. "Wohoo! Way to go, Gallus and Silverstream!" Pinkie cheered happily, "They're the battalion commanders!" "Is she always like this?" Aqua asked in annoyance. “More than you know, darling.” Rarity explains to Aqua with a shrug. “Just don’t ask her who she talks to when no pony is there.” Rainbow added. Anchor hummed, "Still, if what the message said is true, then we'd better strike now before they strike back at us. We can't afford to delays!" "Yeah. It would be too late for us to stop them." Apollo said in concern. “Come on, let’s kick some flank already!” Rainbow exclaims as she flies up to kick into the air. “The more we delay, the less this story is done with!” Pinkie complains, to some of the others’ confusion. “I feel like we have been doing this for years!” “Random, Pinks, random.” "Now, hold on, everyone," Riverstrike said firmly. Everyone turned and looked at him. He continued, "We still do not know what kind of strategy our enemy is possessing especially we are dealing with Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt." "And also, I need to remind you all that Grand Advisor Wiserton has reported that we're shortage of arrows," Sam added in concern. "And I can bet I know who is the fault of this mess again," Saber said in annoyance. "What? The bad guys were chasing us! You can expect me to fire some confetti and streamers at them, can't you?" Pinkie asked in concern, with a shrug. "For once, Pinkie makes sense. And she has the point. Those guys were relentless of chasing you guys off," Rainbow said calmly. Rarity nodded, "Indeed. If Pinkie hadn't think of using volley of arrows at the enemy, Red Cliff would have been theirs." “Yep! Thank you, thank you, I love you all!” Pinkie exclaims to everyone, including the audience. “Our show is ending this year, so make sure you support us in our finest hour!” “Uh, what is she talking about?” Saber asked Rainbow in concern. “Don’t ask.” Rainbow said to Saber uneasily. "Either way, we must find a way to turn the tide," Virtue said in concern, "We still outnumber against them." Courage nodded in agreement, "Indeed. The fallen warriors and ponies of Wuhu River is depending on us. We must turn the tide." "And how are we gonna do that?" Applejack asked in concern. "Since Pinkie used a lot of arrows, I will take that responsibility," Skysoar said calmly. Pinkie groaned, "I said I'm sorry!" "So, how many do you require?" Skysoar asked calmly. "100,000 arrows. Do you believe you truly can handle it?" Riverstrike asked. Skysoar wrote down the notes as he passed it to Riverstrike, "If I cannot come up with 100,000 arrows, then you shall have my head." "WHAT?!" Everyone asked in shock. Virtue was in shock and exclaimed, "Skysoar, have you-?!" "I will give you 10 days for you to complete the task," Riverstrike said calmly. Everyone turned and looked at him. He smiled, "I'm compassion and considerate pony, not cruel and selfish." “Well, we will use that time to prepare.” Ben said thoughtfully. “But not the delays.” “10 days, no problem.” Rainbow said in agreement. "No, I just need three days," Skysoar said calmly. Pinkie gasped, "WHAT?!" "I agreed with her concerns. I do not accept joke, Skysoar," Riverstrike said calmly. "Do not worry. This is not a joke," Skysoar said calmly. He smiled slyly, "If I'm not mistaken, you wish to eliminate Admiral Cai and his Second-in-Command Pitt. Then, you need 10 days to do so." Riverstrike scoffed a bit as he wrote down his note before passing it to Skysoar, "No. I just need three days. If I failed, then you may have my head as well." "My lord!" Water Tiger Clan asked in shock. "Riverstrike, you cannot be serious!" Courage Tiger exclaimed in concern. Virtue Dragon nodded, "Please, you two, this is not the time of competition! We need to work together, not against each other." “Yeah, darlings. Lives are at stake.” Rarity said with a nod. “As well as those outside of us.” “And with so many comments! Sheeeesh!” Pinkie complains in annoyance. Sam bowed humbly, "Please, re-considerate it." "We've made our minds," Riverstrike and Skysoar said calmly yet firmly, "May the best strategist win..." Rarity groaned, "They cannot be serious." “Hey, no one ever say life is easy.” Ben said in concern. Nothing in life is ever easy.” “And I got a feeling that they may not joking.” Pinkie said thoughtfully. She could tell when somepony is joking or no. "Yona not understand." Yona said in confusion, making everyone yelped in shock before dropped to the ground hard. She looked confuse and uncertainty, "Now Yak is confuse!" -------------------------------------------- On the next day, Azure Phoenix and his officials are meeting up with Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt at the harbor. They both have come up with strategy and solution to the soldiers' seasickness problem. Unknown to the group, Tigress and her spies were on hiding on the ship's tower as they watched and eavesdropped on their conversation. "Welcome, Prime Minister. We've been expecting you," Admiral Cai said calmly. "Admiral, I hope the naval training goes well, as well as you have the strategy and solution to our current problems," Azure Phoenix said calmly and firmly, "Dr. Fluttershy informed me that the soldiers are getting weaker and sick each day, and even advise me to retreat. So, I fear that she's right. I should considerate it." "Do not worry, my lord. We have the solution. And the naval training went well," Admiral Cai said confidently. He then turned and looked at some ships. He explained, "We also have the solution to the problem as well. By using iron beams, we join most of the fleet together as one. That will help and make the fleet stable for Imperial Phoenix Soldiers to adapt and steady themselves like a solid ground. Not even a storm could make them tremble and feared, and even having seasickness." Azure Phoenix hummed, "Can they separate?" "Of course, my lord," Vice Admiral Pitt said calmly. He turned to the ships. He unsheathed his sword, "All units, split the ship!" As ordered, the marines quickly removed the nails and ropes as they quickly pulled and moved the iron beams aside. The ships split into two or more. This tactic shocked and surprised Imperial Phoenix Army. "By unlocking iron beams, it separate the ships. The fleet will move into pincer formation and strike them down at once," Admiral Cai, "That would be our greatest advantage to take the enemy down." "Impressive. Twilight was right. By having you on my side, you two are truly naval expert genius," Azure Phoenix said calmly. Admiral Cai and his Second-in-Command bowed humbly before him. He turned and looked at the timid skinny lighter green Earth Pony with dark dark magenta colored in bun shape mane style while wearing yellow robe, "Timid Magenta." "My lord?" Magenta asked. "I have a mission for you. Since you and Riverstrike are childhood friends and classmates, I want you to go and convince him to surrender to me at once." "Surrender?" Magenta asked in surprise, "I don't know, my lord. I don't think he would give up so easily." "After two months have passed since our previous battle, he hasn't make the move. It convinced him that fighting me is pointless and stupid. Tell him and his master that they will be spared and rewarded if they surrender and deliver Virtue Dragon's head to me. Nothing more, nothing less. Understand?" Magenta nodded, "Understood. I shall go now." Azure Phoenix sighed, "I feel very good mood today..." He turned to his officials, "Return to your post!" Magenta headed of to make some preparation for journey. Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt continued with naval training. The rest of Imperial Phoenix Officers returned to their posts and continued their duty. Tigress and her allies have seen everything. "That is not good..." Smolder said in concern. “Tell me about it. With those two on their side, we’re bucked.” Tigress said seriously. “They could wiped us all out.” Ocellus whispered in fear. "What are we gonna do?" Silverstream asked in concern. "One, can you tell the soldiers to do something else?" Tigress asked in annoyance while pointed at the back of direction. She and her friends turned and found the battalion stood before them. She groaned, "You two are battalion commanders. You give orders?" "Oh!" Gallus and Silverstream said in realization. Gallus cleared his throat, "Soldiers, this is your commander's order! I want you all to continue playing and practicing soccer!" "What he said!" Silverstream exclaimed playfully. "Sir, yes, sir!" Imperial Phoenix Soldiers exclaimed firmly. The Imperial Phoenix Soldiers turned and headed off to perform their duty. This surprised and shocked Tigress and her group. "Wow! I loved being commander! I can boss and make everyone do what I want!" Gallus exclaimed happily. Silverstream giggled, "Who knew that being commander is so much fun?! I wonder why Headmare Twilight didn't put this in our school lesson?" “I guess when it comes to friendship, war is another thing.” Ocellus remarks in agreement. “Next to prank calling and annoying the head mare almost every week.” Smolder comments, giving a delightful smirk. She can’t recalled how many times Rainbow shows how fun prank calling is and escaping the wrath of their head mare at the same time! Tigress sighed as she took piece of paper and ink, "Enough, chitchat. Let's get back to work." "What are we doing?" Ocellus asked. "Mapping the enemy camp's positions," Tigress said firmly, "We split up and cover the ground. And also, watch yourselves from Imperial Phoenix. We don't want them get too suspicious of us." “Right, good luck, guys.” Smolder said in agreement. Time to get back to work. “May the Force be with us.” Silverstream said happily, making Tigress give her an odd look. “Star Wars….long story.” Tigress and her spies split up to cover the ground while mapping out the enemy's positions, which could be useful and helpful to the Alliance for turning the tide against the enemies. -------------------------------------------- Two days has passed... Skysoar was alone on the small island. He was humming happily and warmly while looking at the clear sky, with cloud moving around like a snake. And at the same time, both Sam and Marvel were gathering troops, scarecrows and straws on the ships. Virtue Dragon, Blade Dragoon, Warpath, Saber, Ben, Applejack, Starlight, Sandbar and Yona have arrived at the scene. They all looked worry and uneasy about Skysoar's taking a gambit. Warpath blinks as he turns to Blade Dragoon, speaking in concern, "Brother, I don't know about you. But I think Skysoar really lost his mind for real." Blade Dragoon agrees as he spoke, "Hmm... Warpath's right. I understand he studied Art of War and strategies. But I fear this gambit he take is risky." Saber nodded while adding, "Not to mention, two days has passed. We only got one more day to find and get more arrows. He hasn't done anything at all." "Yeah, it's like he's waiting for something but not reacting to it." Sandbar remarks in worry. "What is that critter up to?" Applejack asks in annoyance. Virtue Dragon sighed while looking at Skysoar, "Skysoar, what are you doing? You're running out of time..." Marvel spoke up from nearby, "My lord, you should not be worry about my husband. He knows what he's doing." Warpath groaned a bit, "If you ask me, he's got no plan at all." Sam sighed, "Master Warpath's right again. He made no progress at all, other than asking me prepare twenty ships, scarecrows and straws." "I don't know. The scarecrows are good at scaring crows but not the enemy." Applejack said, glancing at the scarecrows. "Right; Yak doesn't want to scare crows. Yak wants to fight the enemy." Yona argues in agreement. "So why the useless tactics," Ben ask uncertainly. Starlight spoke up in concern, "Think we should ask him?" "We should. I fear he's going to get himself killed." Virtue Dragon said seriously. Skysoar is going to be dead if he doesn't do this. Virtue Dragon and his allies approached to Skysoar, who was muttering and singing happily while looking and admiring the sky. Skysoar muttered happily: By night, the Milky Day By day, snaking clouds. "Well, say what you want about him, he is a good singer." Ben said, impressed by Skysoar's singing ability. "Singing won't save the world this time." Sandbar said as he shakes his head at this. Virtue Dragon chose this time to interrupt his friend, "Skysoar." Skysoar turned. Upon seeing him, he smiles and responds, "Ah, my lord. What can I do for you?" "What can you do?! How about stop taking a risk and do something at once?" Sam nodded while continuing, "I did as you asked. You only got one more day to collect the arrows. But so far, you did nothing at all." "Yeah. You're gonna sweat in hell!" Warpath yelled out angrily and annoyed with Skysoar's lack of progress. "Technically, he would sweat in Tartarus....but way way down deep." Yona said with a chuckle. Of course, the yak spots everyone else giving her looks, causing her to chuckle awkwardly. "Yak be quiet now." "Still, they got a point." Applejack said with a sigh. "What's the point in this?" "I assure you that I have a plan." Skysoar assures while he passed the tortoise to Yona. He turned and looked at the sky again. "Little Yak, please tell me if the tortoise sweat or not?" Yona looked at the tortoise. She looks surprised while exclamining, "Wow! Yak sees tortoise sweat; so, why tortoise sweat?" Skysoar smiled as he adds, "If my prediction correct, the fog is coming..." "Fog," Everyone spoke puzzled. "With all due respect, Skysoar, what does fog have to do with collecting arrows?" Sandbar asked as he scratches his mane puzzled. "Why fog?" Yona asked, agreeing with her friend. "All it does is making stuff hard to see." "Yeah, how will that help us?" Starlight asks Skysoar with a frown. "In time, you will learn and see it for yourself."Skysoar said with a light chuckle. This doesn't comfort anyone else at all. "Everyone, please, put your faith in my husband. He has never failed you or anyone before." Marvel insists comfortingly. If her husband got a plan, he explain it in mysterious ways. "That's what worries me the most..." Virtue Dragon remarks with a frown. "If this plan fails, we're all bucked." Ben groans out as he slaps his forehead in annoyance. "Still, best not to underestimate the estimated," Applejack said calmly to Ben. "What my big brother once said from the war." ------- Following his lord's order, Timid headed straight to the Red Cliff Fortress. To his luck, the Water Tiger Soldiers allowed him to enter and greet his old friend, Riverstrike. They both were having feast, chat about their old times and enjoying listening to music and drinks. Both of them were laughing happily and wildly. "I can't tell you how much I miss this party. Just the classmates only," Timid spoke in amusement at this sight. "And not to mention, you were that cold, who loved to sing and play music. Who would have thought that you became a Chief Commander?" Riverstrike laughed playfully before took a big drink, "Things change, old friend. And we have our own career to make." "Hey, do you remember our old teacher? When we were 10, you clubbed him from his flank. As he turned around, he found me holding it in my hoof, which I have no idea how. He then gave me the beatings!" Riverstrike laughed, "That's because you're always slow." "You're too cunning and mischief! Always trick me getting into trouble. Don't even think that you could get away with you copying and using my hoofwriting on exam!" Timid remarked, recalling a stunt that his friend once did. Riverstrike laughed once more, "What can I say? I used to love being a prankster." Timid scoffed a bit, "Yeah. A prankster likes to prank me a lot!" Aqua, Rainbow, Rarity, Pinkie, Sunset and Carrie were there while hiding behind the walls. They were eavesdropping on the conversation. "Huh... Who would have thought that Riverstrike was a prankster?" Rainbow asks in disbelief. In all her life she never thought Riverstrike to be a prankster like her and Pinkie. "Well, everyone got a little secret." Carrie admits thoughtfully as she scratches her chin. "Right, Aqua?" "Who me," Aqua ask a bit embarrassed. "I got nothing to hide." "Yeah, sure." "Why can't we join the party?" Pinkie asks with a pout. She wanted to join the party and have fun. Not stay here and be in hiding! "Because Riverstrike said that he and his old friend want to have privacy." Carrie points out to Pinkie as to why not. The two wants privacy, they should respect that. "Yeah, if they want us to join them, best to let them ask first." Sunset said in agreement. "Still, even I got to agree that staying here is a bit boring." "If you're bored, think of your boyfriend." Rainbow said with a smile as she thought back to Soarin'. "Buck I sure as Tartarus thought of mine." "Oooh, don't get me started." Songbird came up to them, speaking up suddenly, "It means my husband has the plan for Azure Phoenix's emissary to use. " The group turns, startled upon seeing her. Pinkie was the first to greet her, "You are?" "Lady Songbird, wife of Riverstrike. I assure you that my husband knows what he's doing." "If he does, Riverstrike sure has a weird way of doing so." Aqua explains as she shakes her head. "Then again, most of the greatest warriors do." "Look, they're doing something else." Carrie said, spotting something else is happening. And sure enough it did. Riverstrike cleared his throat, shouting, "Bring me my sword!" Timid was surprised by Riverstrike. The Guard brought the sheathed sword before him. The Chief Commander unsheathed and pulled the sword. And at the same time, the paper also came out from it as well. It dropped on the floor. Timid spotted it. While Riverstrike was busy performing sword-dancing, Timid moved slowly and stealthily to approach and grab the letter. And just before he could grab it, the sword jabbed on the letter, which scared him to back off. Timid looked up and found Riverstrike was looking at him. The Chief Commander levitated it before hid in his pocket while smiling at him. Timid laughed uneasily, "That was quite an excellent display of sword dancing, old friend..." "Old friend," Riverstrike spoke suspiciously. He sheathed his sword, silencing the musician from playing the music. Everyone and even Timid were in shock and concern, "Have you truly come to visit me or acted as Azure Phoenix's emissary?!" Timid nervously responded, "W-What?! I don't know-?!" "You can stop pretending, Timid. I already know that you're serving Azure Phoenix by news across my homeland." Timid scoffed, "Fine. It is true." "Out of all talented officials, I'd never thought you would be serving that tyrant!" Riverstrike snaps in disgust. He can't believe that he himself will live to see the day when someone he once trusted as a friend would serve someone like Azure Phoenix! "Tyrant; Do you even know who you're talking to?! He's the Prime Minister of Qin!" "Nothing but power hungry warlord, who slaughtered the innocents for the sake of defeating and capturing Virtue Dragon." "That was his fault! He should know that taking peasants with him would put them at great risk! If he surrender, then we wouldn't wage war here!" Timid points out angrily. He is correct somewhat. Taking peasants with him when Virtue Dragon knows that doing so will put them at risk was a terrible move on his part. Riverstrike roars in anger, "Unlike your lord, both mine and Skysoar's lords have compassion and benevolence. They would never harm the innocents. As advisor, you should have against his order!" "Get myself beheaded?! No thanks. I rather not be Oracle Twilight! She caused a lot of problem lately because of her stupid friendship philosophy. Everyone knows that the only pony you can trust is yourself!" "Horsecrap," Rainbow and Sunset muttered angrily as they kept on watching. "I agree. There is nothing wrong with friendship." Sunset said furiously in agreement. "If they have give it a chance more so than not, Azure Phoenix wouldn't be an evil monster." "Right; the ponies of the present would be disgusted at this." Carrie comments in agreement. She wonders how the Mystic Ponies would feel, especially Azure Phoenix, if they were to see how they used to act right now. "Is that so? Then, do you think she can be trusted?" Riverstrike ask Timid, challenging him. Timid pauses a bit then he spoke, "Well... No. I supposed. But my lord trusted her a lot since they met. He considered her to be a daughter and heir to his power. She never makes mistakes. She is the key of bringing our lord victory." Riverstrike smirked, taunting, "Is that so?" "What do you mean?" Coming from the dinning hall's entrance, Apollo came to Riverstrike from behind. Apollo bows as he spoke, "My lord, I have urgent news!" "Apollo, can't you see I'm having a guest?! What is it?!" Riverstrike demanded impatiently. What is it that is so important that Apollo would interrupt him like this? "It's urgent!" Riverstrike groaned, "Excuse me for the moment, Timid." Riverstrike and Apollo exited the tent for their private discussion. Timid, curious and suspicious, slowly moved towards the entrance as he was eavesdropping on their whispered conversation. "My lord, I'm truly concern about the arrows since Major Pinkie used them a lot." Apollo explains seriously to his lord. Riverstrike sighs as he respond, "I don't blame her since she was defending our ship." "Still, do you believe that Skysoar can be trusted with this task?" "I don't know. But if he failed, then I will have his head." Apollo gave a thought, scratching his chin as he spoke, "Hmm... My lord, perhaps we should ask our friends to help us to get the arrows." "No. They have more important mission to deal with." Riverstrike answer sternly. Apollo hummed, "According to the latest report Thunderbold managed to get, Admiral Cai and Pitt claimed that taking Azure's head will take some time. I fear that-!" "Do not worry. They know what they're doing." Riverstrike then took and passed secret letter to Apollo. "They write it to me." Apollo read it carefully. He arches an eyebrow, responding, "I see." "So, Admiral Cai and Pitt are working with them?" Timid muttered quietly in concern. "I can't just report to Lord Azure, without the proof. I guess I need to take the letter from him first." "What letter?" Aqua spoke from out of nowhere, startling the hell out of him as he turns to see her. Timid yelped in shock, "What the hell?! Are you trying to scare me or something, maids?" "Who are you calling maids?!" "Right, none of us are maids!" Rainbow remarked then gave a boastful smirk. "We are "maid" to be awesome!" Pinkie laughs playfully, loud enough that Riverstrike heard her and came back in, "Hee hee. Good one Dashie!" "Timid, I see you met the tiger ladies of Tiger Clan." Riverstrike said with a smirk on his face as he glances at the girls. "They are?" Timid spoke out, calming down while giving a nervous chuckle. He hopes his friend doesn't realize that he was listening in and suspect something. "Sorry about their rude behaviors. Anyway, I'm done with my business. We should continue with our drinks." "My lord; please, do not go overboard again. You almost drunk," Songbird coos her husband while nuzzling him. He is getting close to dropping down like a fly. Riverstrike scoffed, "Whatever! I can do what I want. Come to my room!" Riverstrike helped and dragged Timid as they were chatting and laughing happily. They're heading straight to the chief commander's quarter. "So I wonder what letter Timid is on about." Sunset said in concern, recalling what Timid mentioned before he was startled. "Whatever it is, must be serious." Carrie said seriously. Timid must be up to something, big time! -------- In the middle of night time, everyone was asleep peacefully and quietly. Inside the chief commander's quarter, Riverstrike slept peacefully while Timid slowly wake up. He turned and found his childhood friend was asleep. And just before Timid could get up, Riverstrike, still asleep, landed his right hoof on his chest. This annoyed and frustrated him. He slowly moved his hoof aside. He quickly got up and took out the secret letter from Riverstrike's sleeve. Timid unfolded the letter as he began to read them out softly: "We surrender to Azure Phoenix, not because of profit but out of desperation. We now have Imperial Phoenix Army entrapped in camp. Soon, we will deliver his decapitated head to you. Further reports to come... Admrial Cai." "What are you doing?" A voice spoke out from out of nowhere. Timid yelped as he turned to his back. He found drunkard Riverstrike, who smiled happily and amusingly at him. "Looks like I pull another prank on you." Riverstrike gave out a big chuckle, making Timid gave an awkward chuckle. Timid laughed uneasily, "You always enjoy pulling pranks." "Trust me. I'll do it again." Riverstrike mumbles. He went back to his sleep while yawned out loud. "Prank again..." Timid scoffed, "This time, you won't." Timid sneaked out of Water Tiger Clan's main camp. He was heading straight to the dock, where he parked his boat. As he was boarding, he got grabbed and held by Aqua. She wasn't alone. She has her friends with her. "Where do you think you're going?" Aqua demanded suspiciously. Timid is up to something, she and her friends knows it! "Just going back home. Nothing else! Honest!" Timid insists nervously and worried. They obviously are on to him! "I don't believe you. I think you've stolen something from Riverstrike. Wanna give it back?" Rainbow demanded, holding a hoof out. Timid will give what he took back if he knows what's good for him! "Right; you are his friend and friends don't steal from each other." Sunset snapped in agreement, "Unless it's for a good reason." "But your reason isn't so good, is it?" Timid yelped, "Please! I beg of you! I just wanna go home! That's all I want!" "Wanna do hard way? Fine! Meet my knuckle sandwich!" Aqua snapped as she prepares to hit him hard. Timid would've been down for the count....if a familiar pony hasn't stopped it in time. And sure enough, Songbird has arrived to the docks, interrupting the soon to be carnage, "That's enough; If he wants to go back, let him go." "But he stole something from Riverstrike!" Sandbar protests in alarm to Songbird. "Right; Pony can't let evil pony go." Yona said in agreement. "It doesn't matter. Lord Riverstrike will understand his situation. Let him go home." Songbird demanded sternly, tapping one hoof onto the pier. Aqua was annoyed and angered as she reluctantly let go of Timid. "Thank you, my lady. Thank you so much." Timid said, bowing in respect to the mare. Looks like he has fooled her big time! Timid boarded his ship as he rowed and headed off now. Aqua and her friends turned to Songbird. "What was that about?! He stole a letter from Riverstrike!" Aqua scowls in protests to Songbird. How could she be so stupid to let him go like that and take something that could spell the end? "Right, what gives?" Sunset ask Songbird in disbelief. "What if that letter has important information!" "We already made a lot of mistakes, some less than others." Applejack remarks with a scowl. Songbird smiled strangely as she spoke, "That's the idea. It's what my husband wanted Timid to do." "Huh? Mind saying that again?" "Wait. You mean you let this happened on purpose?" Rainbow asks as she arches an eyebrow at this. Riverstrike arrived to the docks, smiling as he explains, "Indeed. It's part of my plan." "I don't get it..." ---------------------------- In early morning, Skysoar is set sail to find and collect the arrows. He invited Saber, Sam, Ben, Starlight, Rarity, Applejack, Yona and Sandbar for his mission. They're now inside the strawed ship-like, and it was filled with some scarecrows. As the strawed fleet sailed out, the rest of 20 strawed ships also followed it. The strawed fleets have now entered the fog, which could led them to nowhere. While Skysoar remained relax and calm, the rest of his allies were uneasy, worried and scared. The strategist took a sip of his drink enjoyably and slowly. Everyone remained silent as they're waiting for his answer. He did not reply. Sandbar scratches his mane, puzzled as he spoke, "I just don't get it. What exactly are we doing?" "Right, darling; He should be doing something right now." Rarity said suspiciously. "Well, he should do something!" Sam exclaims impatiently. "At this rate, our world would end before his war could!" Starlight hummed, "Where have I seen this before? I know read it from somewhere..." Ben nodded as he adds, "Yeah, me too." Sam scoffed as he grabbed the scarecrow, "Mr. Scarecrow, this fellow won't tell me a thing of what's going on! Heck, he even drags me to trouble for no reason." He then grabbed and held cup. "Well, you and I are gonna enjoy our drinks." "Uh, scarecrows don't talk." Starlight points out awkwardly to Sam. "Yeah, but still!" As the strawed ships entered the fog, Sandbar noticed something ahead of them. He looked shock and worried. "Ah... Guys, why are we entering the Imperial Phoenix territory?" Sandbar asks nervously. If Azure's forces see them, they're bucked! "Wait, he's right!" Yona gasps in horror. "Pony's crazy!" "Why are we going in there?!" Rarity screeches like a wild harpy. "We're going to be dead! Oh, I wish I got my fainting couch right now!" Sam yelped, "Don't tell me you're gonna surrender to them, Mr. Scarecrow?!" Yona gulped, "Yak heard that Imperial Phoenix hate yaks! Yak don't want to die!" "Yona, Yona calm down." Starlight said hugging the horrified yak. "Skysoar must have a reason for this." "Right, I hope he does." Applejack said a bit nervous. Ben spoke out clearly, "Skysoar, whatever you're doing, you'd better tell us now." ------------------------------------------- On the Imperial Phoenix docks, the soldiers were patrolling the docks while keeping their eyes out for the enemies. On the watchtower, the guard noticed something amiss within the fog. He saw the shadowy figures that almost looked like ships. Watchtower Guard gasped, "Enemy! Enemy ships approaching!" Watchtower Guard rang the bells, alerting the Imperial Phoenix Army including Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt. They boarded the fleet as they set sailed out from the docks. They're heading towards the enemy ships. Vice Admiral Pitt reports to Admiral Cai in concern, "Admiral, we mustn't get too close to the fog. It could be ambush." Admiral Cai nodded, responding, "In that case, we just need arrows to do the job." "Yes, admiral. Archers, to your position!" The Imperial Phoenix Archers armed with bows while loading them up with arrows. They all aiming theirs at the enemy ships. They're now in offense positions. "Do not fire until I give the command!" Admiral Cai orders sternly to his troops. ------------------------------------------- BANG! The Water Tiger Marines began beating the war drums, shocking and scaring Sam, Ben and his friends while Skysoar remained calm and firm. Applejack covers her ears, screaming, "Oh boy! That's not good!" Rarity screamed, "We're gonna die!" "Skysoar? Skysoar!" Starlight calls out frantically. "You better tell us your plan!" "How could you stand there, being so calm," Sandbar yelps out to Skysoar, noticing his position. "Mr. Scarecrow, stop banging the drums now! Are you trying to get us killed or something?!" Sam yells out to the scarecrow frantically. Skysoar spoke out calmly to his allies, "I assure you. They will not come because they feared the fog may covered the ambush." "Oh! Now you decide to talk with me?!" "Right, Skysoar, this is serious!" Ben exclaims seriously to Skysoar. "If we die here, I will never see Twilight again!" "Or any of our other friends to boot," Sunset exclaims in agreement. "Yona not understand. Are we fighting or are hiding?" Yona spoke out in worry yet puzzlement. They should be fighting the enemy and yet they are hiding instead. Skysoar smiled, explaining, "More like asking them to shoot at us. All ships line up!" 20 strawed ships lined up while facing to the large Imperial Phoenix fleet. Everyone else screams out at once, "WHAT?! Are you kidding me?!" "Okay, there is confidence and plain stupidity!" Applejack exclaims frantically. "We're going to get clobbered!" Right, at least let us in on this whole thing and we can play along!" Starlight exclaims in agreement with her friend. "Everyone, remain calm. I have the plan." Skysoar said calmly to his allies. He seems confident for some reason. What is he even up to? Sam groaned, "No, you don't." Skysoar smiled slyly. "You wouldn't!" "Fire!" Sam screamed, "Are you out of your mind?!" ------------------------------------------- As ordered, the Water Tiger Soldiers released the volleys of arrows straight to the Imperial Phoenix Fleet. Instead of hitting the targets, they missed. This caused Imperial Phoenix Soldiers laughed amusingly and loudly. Admiral Cai calms himself down enough to give out the first order, "Let's show them the means of volley; FIRE!" As ordered, the Imperial Phoenix Archers fired their volleys of arrows through the fog, which hit the strawed ships; this shocked and scared most of ponies to scream and panic in fear. Skysoar remained calm and firm as always. "Okay, I want to abandon ship right now, right now!" Rarity exclaims frantically as she prepares to jump ship right now. "But yak still can't swim!" Yona protests frantically. She isn't in the mood to jump into the water with no way of swimming! "And even then, they will pick us off in the water!" Sunset exclaims frantically as well. "Someone help us!" Sam screams out like a mad pony. Skysoar sighed, "What part of 'remain calm' do they not understand?" ------------ After Timid returned to the Imperial Phoenix Main Camp, he shown the secret letter to Azure Phoenix, who was both shock and anger yet suspicious of the letter. He has summoned both his officers and advisors including Twilight's friends for discussion. Azure Phoenix was having hard time to believe about Admiral Cai's betrayal. He wanted to vent his anger and kill him, but also heeding Twilight's instruction to avoid catastrophe. Azure Phoenix growls out, "I don't believe this! This secret letter is no doubt turning us against each other!" Timid bows down nervously, "With all due respect, my lord. I don't believe that Riverstrike is capable of copying pony's hoofwriting." "Whether this is a trick or not, we must access edthe situation carefully." Woren insists sternly. They can't afford to make a mistake. Snaptrap nodded, adding, "We must follow Oracle Twilight's instruction. If what she said is true, there could be disaster to our military navy." "Or worse, we could be dealing with mutiny. We can't let that happen." Navy added in worried. "One false move can and will cost us the war or anything else." "Anything else you want to report, Timid?" Azure asks Timid, trying to calm down from the revelation. Timid explains, "Other than letter, I heard that Riverstrike and his allies are getting arrows from their friends here. I suspect that is Twilight's friends." "Impossible!" Navy yells out angrily. "How in the hell are they able to do that?!" "And how would they even do so with us keeping a close eye on them!" Snaptrap yells out furiously. "I say we punished them right now!" Bullhound however spoke up in defense, "My lord. They haven't done anything wrong! I oversee it." Clawdestroyer nodded, agreeing, "Gallus was with me for training the army while Silverstream assisted Blazefist in navy training. Dr. Fluttershy was too busy with treating the patients. Spike and Nyx are with you. None of them tried to deliver the arrows to our enemies." Azure Phoenix scratches his chin with one hoof, admitting, "That is true..." "My lord, perhaps we should question the admirals." Bladestrike suggests to his lord while bowing. If they want to confirm the betrayal, best to do so before anything else goes wrong. Strikespel agrees, saying, "Master Bladestrike, to confirm our concerns and fears, we must confront them before we deal with them." Azure Phoenix nodded, ordering, "Summon Cai and Pitt for questioning!" "My lord, they're both still training the navy." Blazefist reminds his lord of his. The two in question are training the navy at this moment. It may be a while for them to be brought in. "Laxtinct, bring me the surrender letter now. Comparing them will tell us if they're fakes or not." Laxtinct saluted, exclaiming, "Yes, sir!" He then begins shuffling and searching through his pocket. He passed the surrender letter to Azure Phoenix. "Here you go!" Azure Phoenix levitated the letters as he looked carefully on them for comparison. As he inspecting the letters carefully, he groaned in anger while his face was burning in red as he crushed the surrender letter. Spike gulped, "I don't like that look of his." "Yeah, don't I know it." Nyx said in agreement. When Azure gets mad, he REALLY gets mad. Azure Phoenix spoke out darkly, "So, Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt are indeed traitors..." This will not go well at all.... -------------------- Skysoar's crew continued banging the war drums as loud as they can. They annoyed and frustrated Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt to waste in shooting the arrows through the fog in hitting their strawed fleet. Eventually, Ben and his teammates managed to calm themselves down, thanks to Skysoar's suggestion for using scarecrows as their shields. As the volley of arrows continued shooting and dropping on the strawed ships, all of them are filled with more than 10,000 arrows. This has pleased Ben and his allies. "That is enough. We can return home now." Skysoar said thoughtfully. He then turned to his friend to give out the next command, "Cheers!" "Skysoar, you sly fox! You really outdid yourself again!" Sam laughs out eagerly. He now can see what his friend was up to. ------------------------------------------- As ordered, the Alliance Fleet halted beating the war drums as they turned and sailed back to their territory now. Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt were amused and pleased that they have drove the enemies back. Admiral Cai chuckles cruelly, "Well done. Those fools will think twice of what they're doing. Return to our post!" Vice Admiral Pitt nodded as he gives out the orders, "Return to your post!" As ordered, the Imperial Phoenix Navy returned and sailed back to their docks. ------------------------------------------- Inside the cockpit, Skysoar smiled happily and proudly as he and his allies emerged out. They found themselves at the clear sky with sun. They got out of the fog, and sailing back to their home. Skysoar taunted, "Thank you, Prime Minister Phoenix!" "Yeah, thank you for NOT being a friend!" Sandbar laughs out eagerly. "Yeah, he has no idea that he fell for a big ploy." Applejack jokes happily. Sam laughed, "This is incredible! We have more than 100,000 arrows for sure!" Starlight gasped, "Of course! By using the fog, the enemy troops wouldn't dare to come because of ambush, so they have to shoot the arrows at the strawed boats, which are strong enough to held them tight." Ben laughed, "Borrowing the arrows. Nice!" "So, how did you know about the fog, Mr. Skysoar?" Sandbar asked Skysoar curiously. Skysoar grins as he explains, "A clear Milky Way and snaking clouds signal fog is near. If you know how the nature works, then it'll become greatest asset to your advantage." "Of course; that Pegasus always do something like that." Rarity scoffs off in amusement. "Yaks spend time in cold, but never figures out how nature works." Yona said with a grin, "Clever pony!" Sam laughed, "Truly incredible, my friend. Truly incredible! No wonder your brother considers you to be better than him." Skysoar smiled, chuckling, "I'm just good at it. That is all." Unknown to Ben and his allies, who were sailing back to their base, one ship was left behind and drifting towards the Imperial Phoenix dock. ----------------- Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt have returned from the battlefield. They climbed down from the ramp. They then found Azure Phoenix and his army stood before him. The admirals were surprised and shocked to see their lord was here. They put their armors properly. They then approached and bowed before him. Admiral Cai spoke out calmly, "My lord, we appreciate of you to come and see us, but I believed that a small victory deserve this." "Small victory; how many troops did the enemy send?" Azure Phoenix demanded sternly to his soon to be former admiral. Vice Admiral Pitt bows as he admits, "Forgive us, my lord. We could not see because of the fog. But we repel them by firing 100,000 arrows at them." "Is that so? Why did you not pursue them?" "Forgive us. We feared the fog might cover some ambush, so we did not pursue." Admiral Cai explains calmly to Azure Phoenix. He and Pitt have no idea that they have fallen for a ploy. "You know? I can't help but to think that you're hiding something." Azure Phoenix snapped sternly, much to the two's concern. They don't like his tone of voice at all. And just before Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt could explain, there heard some shouts from left bank. Everyone turned to the direction, where Laxtinct and his soldiers brought the strawed boat to the dock. Laxtinct picked up and thrown a scarecrow before them. Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt were in shock of what they just saw. The rest of Imperial Phoenix Army chatted and muttered in concern about it. Timid smirked proudly as he has proven right. Admiral Cai nervously begins to speak, "My lord, I-!" "Can't you tell the difference between soldiers and scarecrow?!" Azure Phoenix spoke out. His tone became angry. "100,000 arrows?" Now his tone is that of fury. "You two are truly imbeciles!" Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt bowed down, begging, "Forgive us, my lord!" "Today, it's arrows." Azure Phoenix scowls as his tone became fury. He thrown the secret letter down adding, "So, tomorrow will be my head, am I right?!" Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt were shocked and confused. They both picked it up while reading it. They both became shock and scared. Admiral Cai spoke out in protest, "T-This is the work of enemy! Riverstrike is turning us against each other!" Vice Admiral Pitt nodded fearfully, protesting, "We have nothing to do with this! Honest! No spy of ours could be stupid enough to-!" "SILENCE,” Azure Phoenix roared out in a fury so great, you better be quiet or risk his wrath. The Imperial Phoenix Army yelped in concern to hear his tone of fury. "Uh oh; He's angry now." One soldier mumbles to another in fright. "I know. Those two are dead." Another soldier mumbles in agreement. The others soldiers kept quiet out of fear that Azure will hear them and put their heads on the chopping block. "I trust and honor talented ponies, but there is one thing I have despised the most - deceivers and traitors! Guards," Azure Phoenix screams out in fury. The executioners have arrived as they grabbed and held Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt tightly. The admirals pleaded and begged for their lives. Azure Phoenix thus gave the command, "Off with their heads!" Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt screams out futilely, "My lord, please! Don't do this! I served faithfully to you! I am honest! I give my life for you!" The executioners dragged and moved the admirals to the docks. Azure Phoenix was just too furious and angry to listen to reason. He turned and found Ratio, who has returned from the farm to get noodle ingredients. "What is going on," Ratio spoke out in alarm upon seeing the execution is about to take place. Azure Phoenix spoke out sternly to him, "I'm executing both admirals for deceiving and betraying me. Twilight was wrong about them." "What?!" "I know. Twilight lied to me! She wants me dead, so she can reunite with her friends! When I get back home, I'm going to punish her!" "I'm not talking about that! I'm talking about executing the admirals! Without them, who's leading the navy or even predict the weather?! Without them, we're doom!" Ratio spoke out in alarm. He's right. With Cai and Pitt dead, there's no one to lead the navy or predict the weather! They got no chance! Azure Phoenix looked shocked and concern as he realized the mistakes, "Halt!" SLASH! It was too late. Azure Phoenix slowly turned his head as he found the executioners have executed both admirals. He became shock and concern as he realized of his mistakes. "W-What have I done?" Azure Phoenix spoke out quietly and in horror. He has made a huge HUGE mistake. "You doomed all of us. Twilight foretold the catastrophe!" Ratio explains as he picked up the secret letter. "This is the fake letter! This is not Cai's letter!" Azure Phoenix shocked answers, "How can you tell?" "I have sharped eyes to know the writing difference. This is Riverstrike's hoofwriting. He tricked you. Now, we're finished..." "No... No... Noooooooooooo!" Azure Phoenix screamed in anger and fury, shocking and scaring his army off. They have never see him lose his calm demeanor. "Wow. He really lost it...": Smolder mumbles to her friends. "Tell me about it." Silverstream said in fright. "I don't like him when he's this way." "He deserved it." Gallus mumbles quietly. Azure Phoenix deserved this karma all right. ------------- Skysoar and his allies have returned to the Red Cliff Fortress. Apollo, Warpath and their soldiers have arrived at the docks, where they helped unloading and carrying the pack of arrows into the fortress. Anchor was counting down the pack of arrows as he was making sure they're accounted for. The rest of their allies have gathered and witnessed Skysoar's latest success. Ben and his team regroup with Rainbow and her friends. "It's been one crazy day, isn't it?" Ben asked amusingly. Rarity huffed in annoyance, "By crazy, you mean, almost get killed by volley of arrows in the fog?! Yes, it is!" “Well, could be worst. We could’ve been killed by the enemy.” “Well, right. I will give you that, Ben.” Rainbow nodded a bit, "I supposed so. But I still don't get why would Riverstrike and his wife let that chicken get away with the letter? I mean it's supposed to be secret and important." Starlight hummed thoughtfully, "Good question. He must have some kind of plans..." “Well, he must have some reason.” Ben said thoughtfully as he scratches his chin. “We should ask him….” "I'm sure we'll find out soon," Sunset said calmly. "That's odd?" Anchor's voice said in surprise, attracted Ben and his friends to turn to the veteran Diamond Dog. They all approached and checked on him, who just finished counting the arrows. He scratched his chin while hummed thoughtfully, "I thought there could be more of them. I only counted them 97,000 arrows..." "That's impossible! That can't be less than 100,000! It should have been more!" Sam protested in concern. “Did Pinkie use a lot of arrows too much again?” Rarity asks in annoyance. “No, she wouldn’t be that silly more than once.” Starlight said in Pinkie’s defense. Anchor hummed in concern while looking at the fortress's entrance, where it was completely empty, "Believe it or not. That's the final count. There's no more arrows..." Sam hissed, "What are we gonna do now?" “We should to keep Skysoar safe.” Starlight said in concern. “Right, otherwise….” Rarity begins to agree but Anchor cuts her off. Anchor sighed, "No. Once he gave his word and sign on the gambit document, he has to face consequence..." “Hoo boy. This isn’t cool.” Ben said with a deep frown. “Skysoar is going to meet his death very soon.” “Worst yet, we can’t do a thing about it.” Sunset comments sadly. ------------------------------------------- At the training area, Lady Marvel has invented a new weapon called repeated-arrow firing crossbow for both armies to train and use in firing at the targets. She and her husband were helping and teaching them of how to use the new weapons. Virtue Dragon, Courage Tiger, Riverstrike and the rest of their allies have arrived and checked on Skysoar while witnessing him helping teach and train the soldiers with new weapons. "I see you didn't waste time from training soldiers with new inventions," Riverstrike commented in pleasant, "Quite impressive for a strategist and politician." Skysoar fanned his fan on him while laughed a bit, "Not really. I was just killing my bore time when I'm done with my tasks, that is all. Inventing new weapons and technology are my hobbies." Riverstrike smiled, "I see. And I thought music is your hobby." "My lord!" Sam called as he and his allies have arrived. "Let me guess. Not enough?" Riverstrike asked dryly. Virtue Dragon and his allies especially Ben and his team became scared and worried. Courage Tiger looked worried about the latest situation. "97,000 arrows," Sam answered uneasily and nervously. Riverstrike looked unimpressed and annoyed. He cleared his throat, "My lord, it's only less than 3,000. It should be suffice for the army to use arrows." "Wrong." Riverstrike said firmly, "When Skysoar make a promise, I expect him to keep it. And since he did complete his task, what must we do?" Skysoar sighed while calmly fanned on him again, "So, what must be done?" Everyone was in shock and concern to hear what Riverstrike has demanded. Virtue Dragon and his allies, nervous and worried for Skysoar's life, slowly unsheathed their swords and readied them for the fight. Courage Tiger also doesn't like it, so he has to wait for anyone to say the word before he could protest while the rest of his officers did the same thing as well. "Come on, guys. Let's not be hasty..." Rainbow said in concern. Aqua nodded, "Please, Riverstrike. Don't do this!" “Right, you can’t kill a pony just for not keeping a promise. Even Pinkie wouldn’t go that far!” “Think before doing this now!” While Sam was still nervous and worried to speak up, Anchor noticed some troops have just enter from the docks. And to his both surprise and annoyance, he furiously found them holding another pack of arrows. "Idiots! What the hell have you been up to?!" Anchor barked angrily, scaring the soldiers. He growled, "Never mind! Put them with the rest of arrows." The soldiers yelped in fear as they quickly moved out while carrying the arrows with them. Virtue Dragon and his allies sighed in relief that Skysoar has indeed completed his mission. "This is great!" Sam exclaimed in relief, "Now, we truly have 120,000 arrows! Mr. Intellect has completed his mission." "Yes, indeed, I have," Skysoar said calmly and firmly. He turned and looked at Riverstrike, "What about you? Have you completed yours?" Everyone went in silent again as they looked at each other before looking at Riverstrike, who remained firm and calm, standing still. They have forgotten about his bet, involving of killing both Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt. Sam yelped, "Skysoar! W-we only just joking around! I don't think this is serious!" "Is it?" Skysoar asked dryly. Riverstrike scoffed as he unsheathed his sword, "Of course not. I must honor the deal. My lord, punish me! And for any reason, anyone else must not interfere the execution, even you, my lord." Courage Tiger was in shock and concern by Riverstrike's willing to go through with it. He reluctantly grabbed the sword as he readied to execute his brother's best friend and brother figure. The rest of his officers and soldiers were deeply shocked and worried. Wanting to protest and plead for Riverstrike's life, they were forced to obey their Commander-in-Chief's order. Virtue Dragon and his allies were in shock and concern. Skysoar remained firm and calm. "Hey, isn't this a bit much?" Saber asked in concern, "Let's just forget about the bet for once. Call it even?" Ben nodded, "He's right. Let's think about something else. Like not involving 'executing'." “Yeah, this is bucking ridiculous!” Rainbow exclaims frantically. “Wait until the next part of this story!” Pinkie exclaims randomly, confusing some of the others. “Stop with the randomness right now, Pinks!” Suddenly, Lady Marvel spotted a pigeon flying towards her. She grabbed it. She took a piece of paper out. While reading the note carefully, she quickly passed it to her husband, who also read it as well. "Well, this is the surprise of the event," Skysoar commented. Everyone turned and looked at him. He continued, "Azure Phoenix has executed Admiral Cai and Vice Admiral Pitt." Everyone was in shock and surprised by the latest event. They wondered of why would Azure Phoenix executed his own admirals. Realized something amiss, they turned and looked at Riverstrike, who smiled slyly and amusingly. Skysoar smirked as well. They awed in realization and surprise. "I still don't get it," Pinkie commented. Starlight sighed, "Pinkie! Both of them have predicted each other's strategy! Skysoar predicted the arrival of fog without Pegasi's help and collecting arrows by 120,000. So, Riverstrike purposely write down on the letter, making it like it came from Admiral Cai especially involving the arrows and Azure's life. Because of Skysoar's strategy, Azure killed his own admirals." "In other words, Riverstrike tricked Azure Phoenix to do it," Ben concluded. “Ah ha!” Pinkie exclaims, holding a hoof in victory. “That’s what you got in mind a few paragraphs or so ago!” “So you convinced Azure into killing his allies.” Ben said thoughtfully. “He must not have been happy about it.” “Hey, after all the horse crap he pulled on us lately since he took Twilight from us, he deserved it.” Rainbow mumbled furiously. “War is hell. As one would say.” Courage Tiger sighed as he returned the sword to Riverstrike, "Honestly, Riverstrike! Your pranks sometimes scared me half of death! You know I hate that a lot." Virtue Dragon nodded, "I agreed. Same goes to you, Skysoar. The gambit is very unnecessary." “But seriously? Don’t scare us like that again.” Rainbow groans a bit to Riverstrike. “Right. I can’t get anymore scares.” "Well, all I can say one thing," Sam said calmly, "You both are truly talented military genius. Impressive." Skysoar smiled, "Either way, we have completed our missions. Azure Phoenix will be no doubt gone crazy and lose his tantrum for three straight days." "Indeed," Riverstrike agreed before sighed, "Pity. I'm gonna miss Timid..." ------------------------------------------- A day later, Azure Phoenix has recovered from losing his tantrum after the death of his admirals. He and his officials are having feast at the tent. While most of them are enjoying their meal, they also kept their guard up while keeping their eyes on their lords, hoping he hasn't gone mad. Azure Phoenix sighed before taking a sip of his drink, "I admit it. I was rash and foolish to judge on ponies, without giving some thoughts. So, tell me, do I look like a mad pony?" "No, my lord!" Imperial Phoenix Officers protested in concern. Strikespell sighed, "Father, you must take it easy. Don't push yourself hard over the mistake you've make." Azure Phoenix chuckled, "Do not worry, my son. I'll be fine. In fact, I'm feeling great now. Timid Magenta?" "My lord?" Timid asked curiously. "Since you have served me well for five months, I believed that you deserve the reward," Azure Phoenix said calmly. He turned and looked at Silverstream, "Sergeant Silverstream, pass the drink to him." Silverstream nodded happily as she brought and passed the cup of wine to Timid, who looked excited and happy. He took it up. He bowed, "Thank you, my lord." Timid took a big sip of his drink. After drinking his wine, he yelped in shock as he felt something funny in his throat. And just before anyone could ask, he spitted some blood on his meal and drinks, scaring everyone except Azure Phoenix and Strikespell out. And just before they could ask, Timid fell to the ground motionlessly. Everyone was in shock and scared of what they just saw. Strikespell sighed, "Looks like you won't live long, Timid. How disappointed..." "W-What just happen?!" Laxtinct asked in fear. "Silverstream, what did you do?!" Blazefist demanded. Silverstream gasped, "Wait! Wait! I didn't do it! Honest! I didn't kill him! I didn't put poison in it!" "I did," Azure Phoenix said darkly, shocking his officers and Silverstream. He turned and glared at Timid, "You are truly useless advisor. You not only cost me my admirals, but also ruining the perfect strategy that Twilight has built for me to use! Now, the enemies are planning to take us down." Spike gulped, "Okay. It's official. I'm freaking out!" “That explains why it’s not a good idea to piss him off.” Silverstream added nervously. “If you don’t mind the language.” “We deal with worst. Trust me.” "Pass my next order!" Azure Phoenix exclaimed angrily. Everyone turned and faced to him. He continued, "I appoint both Blazefist and Silverstream as both admiral and vice admiral of the navy since they received the training from Admiral Cai. I want the army's preparation to be done within three days! We must take down Red Cliff and capture both Virtue Dragon and Courage Tiger alive! No more delays!" "MY LORD!" Everyone exclaimed in concern. Gallus hissed while muttered in concern to Silverstream, "We've gotta get Smolder, Ocellus and Tigress out now." Silverstream nodded fearfully, "Yeah. We have to find them now." ------------------------------------------- "By the order of Prime Minister, the army's preparation must be made within three days! We must invade and conquer Red Cliff! Virtue Dragon and Courage Tiger must be captured alive, no matter the cost! Delays will not be accepted!" The announcer announced firmly. The Imperial Phoenix Army quickly make their final preparation for the invasion. The blacksmiths were building and sharpening the weapons. The soldiers trained very hard, as well as making final preparation for the invasion. The marines were moving and loading up both supplies and weapons into the ships at once. They cannot afford to delay especially when Azure Phoenix is angry after the death of his admirals. Tigress, Ocellus and Smolder has witnessed everything. They became uneasy and worried. "This isn't good," Tigress said in concern, "We have to get back home now." “Yeah. They need to know what’s going on.” Smolder added seriously. "Ocellus, return to home and tell them everything about it," Tigress said firmly. "Me? What about you?" Ocellus asked. "You're the changeling. You can turn into animals and escape. For us, we will find another way. Now go," Tigress said firmly. Smolder nodded firmly, "Don't worry about us. We'll be fine." Ocellus hissed as she transformed into a pigeon. She then flew off at once. She was flying straight back to Red Cliff Fortress. Spotting some soldiers coming from the cornered tent, both Tigress and Smolder quickly leave at once, avoiding them being spotted and found by the Imperial Phoenix Soldiers. Everywhere they have gone to, they almost got cornered and trapped by them. They came back to the small tent, where both of them got grabbed and dragged inside. Within the camp, Tigress and Smolder found both Silverstream and Gallus were inside. All of them sighed in relief. "Guys, you have to get back to your base now," Silverstream exclaimed in concern. Tigress nodded firmly, "We know. But problem is we're stuck here." Silverstream passed ad placed her jewel around Smolder. She looked confuse and concern, "What is that?" "Silverstream! It's your pendant! I can't take it!" Smolder exclaimed in concern. "You have to," Silverstream said in concern, "I can't keep it with me for too long. Azure is already know about my pendant! He's gonna use it to turn all of his ponies into Seaponies!" "The what?!" Tigress asked in confusion. Gallus sighed, "The Seaponies are the best pony swimmers that can travel and swim across the sea. If Imperial Phoenix used this pendant on his soldiers, they'll be too fast and swift for your navy to stop and beat them especially in surprise." "But this is your family heirloom." Smolder insisted. Silverstream smiled as she hugged Smolder, "And I'm trusting you to take care of it. Can you do it?" Smolder was uncertain and reluctant as she sighed, "Fine. I'll give it back when we get out of here." Gallus nodded, "You'd better go now. We'll find a way to make excuse." Smolder nodded firmly. She grabbed and held Tigress close to her. She then held the pendent in activating its powers. They both transformed into two pigeons. They all flapped their wings as they began to fly and escaped the Imperial Phoenix Main Camp. Gallus and Silverstream did was watched and hoped that they escaped and returned to Red Cliff Fortress in time. Two pigeons managed to regroup with Ocellus, who was few miles away from the Imperial Phoenix Main Camp. "Smolder? Tigress? Is that you?" Ocellus asked in surprise. Smolder and Tigress nodded firmly. She looked and noticed the pendant Smolder was wearing. She gasped, "Is that-?" Smolder nodded, "Yeah. It is. I have to keep it safe for now." Tigress groaned, "You couldn't have turn me into an eagle or something?" "So, we become roasted chicken?!" Smolder asked in annoyance, "Not a chance! I hate being a chicken especially Silverstream turn me into one for a stupid project of hers!" "Seriously?" "You don't want to know," Ocelus said calmly. ------------------------------------------- Back at the Imperial Phoenix Main Camp, Azure Phoenix and his allied officers have arrived at the medical tent. They were checking on Fluteheart, hoping she is getting better. As they entered the tent, they witnessed many ponies were still sick and weakened from seasickness. They then approached to Fluttershy, who was feeding Fluteheart with some hot mushroom soup. Fluteheart sighed calmly. She groaned in pain as she slowly lied down on her bed. "How is she?" Strikespell asked in concern. Fluttershy sighed, "She's stable for now. But I still think that you should retreat now. If you keep pushing the soldiers too hard, they won't get better." Bladestrike sighed, "She is right, my lord. Without Cai and Pitt, we're defenseless against the enemies. There is no telling what kind of tactics the enemies are using against us." "He's right again," Blazefist said in annoyance, "Not even me and Silverstream can lead the navy, sir." "So, what's next?" Laxtinct asked in concern. Azure Phoenix hummed in concern yet uncertain. He approached to Fluteheart. He helped get her up. He asked, "My dear daughter-in-law, are you alright?" Fluteheart sighed, "Forgive, my lord. If only I hadn't been sick, I would have fight for your son's side! I would tear them apart." "Don't push too much, my dear. Your health is more important than my sake. I will not risk it. You and my son should return to home. You will get better." "But my lord-!" "That is an order." Azure Phoenix said firmly. He turned and looked at his son, who nodded in understanding. He continued, "I know all of you are tired and struggle to fight on. All of you want to go home. I too want to go home, so I can retire and forget about this blood war for good. But I will say this. You, officers and soldiers, are my greatest treasures as my family are. I have lost two of bravest heroes among us we ever have. Rhino Armor, he's the bravest and strongest warrior I ever have since the day we met. I would give anything to have him rewarded with plowing field as Bullhound has wanted. Schemetrick, he's my true best friend I ever had. He's the only one, who understands me, trusted me and even put his faith in me to accomplish our goal. But they died too early." Azure Phoenix gritted his teeth before continued, "Their sacrifice and death has not been in vain! They have given their lives for this land! They're depending on us for the accomplishment! We must defeated both Virtue Dragon and Courage Tiger, so we can end the war! I know it will be hard and dangerous, but we must win! Not for me! Not for this empire! Not for yourself! For your friends! For your family! For your home! For them! Do it for them!" Imperial Phoenix Army was in shock and amazed. He sighed, "That is all I ask for. If you cannot, then leave..." The Imperial Phoenix Army remained silent while looking at Azure Phoenix for the moment. Suddenly, a soldier grabbed his spear as he began to stomp it on the ground. Soon, he was followed and joined by the army of both sickened and healthy soldiers with their swords and shields, spears, pikes, bows and so on. They even began chanting firmly and proudly. "Long live Azure Phoenix! Long live Azure Phoenix! Long live Azure Phoenix! Long live Azure Phoenix! Long Live Azure Phoenix!" Azure Phoenix was surprised yet amazed by his soldiers' determination. He sighed happily as he was happy and proud to have such army on his side. "Wow... They really believe in him, doesn't he?" Gallus asked. “It shocked me that anyone like him would ended up being like he is in the present.” Silverstream added in amazement. Fluttershy hummed, "Could this be the reason why Twilight believed in him? Is he destined to become Mystic Pony?" ------------------------------------------- Both the Alliance of Virtue Dragon's and Courage Tiger's were gathered inside the fortress's war council chamber. They were awaiting for their friends' return after receiving the news that Azure Phoenix is making his move. Tigress, Ocellus and Smolder, returned to their normal forms, have arrived at chamber. Three of them panted heavily as they're catching their breathe. Courage Tiger and Aqua approached to Tigress as they gave her a warm hug warmly. "You're safe! Welcome home!" Courage Tiger exclaimed in relief. Aqua nodded, "Yeah! That was awesome, sis!" Tigress sighed in relief, "Yeah. No kidding. Anyway, we've got reports to make." Skysoar nodded, "Indeed. It is time to make strategy now." "Yes. Time to push and defeat Azure Phoenix for good," Riverstrike said firmly. END... Review and Suggest...
