Letters From a Friend

9/25/15-Moon 3064, Day 3

Hey Twilight, done with classes for the week, and I decided to run to the library while it was fresh on my mind, and I also got some dinner too.

Hello again, Toby! That sounds nice. Something good I hope?

Had a real hankering for some Noodles and Company. It’s a restaurant chain that makes really good food, and I always get their Japanese Pan Noodles. And then when you add a little sriracha and soy sauce on it when you get home? Mwah!

Interesting. I assume by ‘chain,’ there’s many of these same restaurants in different locations?

Bingo!

Not to be too intrusive, but do you by chance know what your other friends are doing, as in your classmates or whomever?

Like, if they had dinner plans? I think I overheard them talking about going to this nearby pub, but I honestly really wanted to come home and keep writing with you now that we have a full weekend to do so.

That’s very nice of you, but I’d like to hope that my friends and I aren’t the extent of your social circle.

You shouldn’t need to worry. I still enjoy hanging with my human friends on occasion, but you have to admit, I’m immensely lucky to be the one human who gets to converse with an alicorn princess and her numerous friends on another world. Not too many people would want to pass up what I have right now.

I suppose you’re right, but if you were able to meet up with your friends sometime in the near future, even if it meant we don’t get to talk for an entire day, I’d honestly not be happier for you, and would completely understand.

I guess that’ll work out, because I am planning another big movie get-together next weekend.

Oh? That’s wonderful! What are you all seeing?

It’s called The Martian. Basically, it’s this manned excursion on the planet Mars that gets cut short due to a large storm. One of the astronauts gets struck by debris and is assumed to be dead, so he gets left behind. It turns out that he’s not dead, and so he uses the habitat he and his team had been living on and uses their equipment to send a message that he’s alive so that they can go back and bring him home, while he has to survive long enough for them to come back.

Gosh, that sure sounds thrilling!

Early reviews have been super strong too, so yeah. Really excited. It’s actually based on a book, but as you can imagine, the movie’s made the book super popular, so there’s a really long wait to check the book out at the library.

That’s no problem. I’ll be happy to hear all about it after you and your friends see it.

Oh, and speaking of the library and movies, I’ve got a small list of what I was able to get for you and your friends to watch. I got:

-Barry Lyndon
-It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (comedy masterpiece right here)
-Mary Poppins
-Moulin Rouge!
-Raiders of the Lost Arc
-Top Gun

I figured that’s a good start?

It’s a perfect start. I doubt we’ll get through them by the end of the weekend, but we’ll be sure to get a good enough headstart so you can return them soon.

No rush. I have to imagine I’ll be able to renew any of those at any time, so don’t feel like you need to get through them by a certain point. Watching movies shouldn’t feel like a chore, you know? Either way, I’ll let you know if something comes up in case I can’t renew any of them.

Sounds great, Toby. Any updates on the Blu-Ray player?

Nothing’s really changed, but I imagine it’ll come just shortly after noon at the latest. When it comes, the first thing I plan to do is let you know.

Right. I still do need to prepare the spell to get it over here. Shouldn’t take too long, but the sooner you can let me know when it arrives the better.

Of course. Shouldn’t be much longer. As a matter of fact. I’m going to finish my dinner real quick and then I’ll get right back to you. Getting more and more nervous about dripping sauce into the pages.

Yes, please! I’d hate just as much as you if these books got messy, so good call there.

Okay. Be back in a bit.

I’ll be here.
