//------------------------------// // Dear Rainbow // Story: A Letter from the Heart // by Snowliasion //------------------------------// Dear Rainbow Dash. We’ve been friends ever since you stood up for me back at flight camp. You came looking for me after I had fallen off of the clouds, when you realized I wasn’t there anymore after winning your race. The sonic rainboom you performed was beautiful by the way. It brought us and our friends together,, not to mention how much it helped us find our talents. Ever since then I had known that you were a very special mare that would do great things with her life. Remember the first time I took you home to meet my parents? They were so surprised that they didn’t know what to say! I can’t really blame them, since I had never taken a friend home with me before. But I was very glad that they approved of you nevertheless. I was slightly annoyed that Zephyr behaved the way like he did, but as we both know he can be somewhat conceited. I’m glad we were able to help him a while ago though. Despite that I do remember the trip we made to Neighagara Falls, the games of tag and swimming in the basin. I’m still not sure if mom and dad -wanted- to go or if they only agreed with it because we insisted for days. But even back then I noticed that you liked being around me. It was subtle back then, because we were both still young but now that I’m older it makes more sense. And I know that you must be wondering why I’m bringing this all up in this letter but please have patience, it will become more clear in a bit but I’m simply not as bold or forward as you are. After graduation I was a little surprised that you followed me to Ponyville. I had never expected you to be able to stand the calm atmosphere of such a rural village. But you did it for -me- didn’t you? Taking up a job with the local weather team, while you could just as easily have found a similar if not better job back in Cloudsdale.I appreciate it Rainbow, I really do. Of course Pinkie Pie scared me, but in her defense that’s just how she is, always happy to meet new ponies and make them feel welcome. Sadly you and Applejack had a bit of a rough start, she was so angry when you took hose apples. Back then I would’ve had trouble believing that the six of us would be such close friends today. And in a strange twist of fate I got along really well with Rarity, I think it’s because of our mutual love of pampering and being pampered. Then of course there is Twilight, the mare who changed so much in our lives that it’s almost unbelievable. Who had ever expected that our new librarian would take us all into the Everfree Forest to face Nightmare Moon? And we became the new bearers of the Elements of Harmony no less. Though I must say that I was not surprised in the least when you were chosen by Loyalty. That kiss that you gave me during the invasion of Canterlot, when you picked me up after fighting off that changeling... I know that it happened in the heat of the moment, but it also gave me an idea as to how you might have felt about me. Even if you said that our muzzles brushed against each other just because you lost your balance while picking me up. I kept quiet about that ,since there were far more important matters going on and I know you would have felt embarrassed about it if I had brought it up in public or told our friends. But ponies like you don’t simply lose their balance like that, Rainbow Dash. It slipped my mind afterwards out of sheer relief that Queen Chrysalis was beaten, and then the royal wedding itself kept us busy and distracted. I remembered later though, but was far too nervous to bring it up again incase I was wrong and it -had- just been a slip up in the heat of the moment. You came by more often after that and I found your company to my liking, yes you are somewhat reckless and to be honest, somewhat vain, but deep inside you’re also my oldest friend and ever loyal companion. Then of course came the day where you insisted to break that record by funneling water from Ponyville’s lake to Cloudsdale, and you drafted every available pegasus in town to help you. Your faith in me that day gave me the courage to find my inner strength, and fly into that tornado to help you realize your ambition. And even though we didn’t break the record, I could never forget the look of admiration in your eyes while you told Spitfire about my part in everything. And to be honest I felt pretty awesome too. Remember how I cheered you on during the youngest flyer competition? You were amazing despite feeling so nervous about the race. I think I felt as excited as you did that day you proved to be even more of a hero, when you saved Rarity and those Wonderbolts from falling to the ground. What I’m trying to tell you dear Rainbow is that I really enjoy being around you, no matter if it’s for a spa visit that never happened or you coming to me because you wanted a cool pet yet went home with an adorable tortoise. There is rarely a moment that I do not enjoy having you near me. So if the chance exists that you feel the way that I do, would it be terribly rude of me to ask if you would be interested in joining me to one of Ponyville’s restaurants and to hear me out while I explain? Or maybe we could go to one of those events that you enjoy so much. If.. if that is alright with you of course. Oh Angel bunny is getting impatient for his meal, so I need to end my letter here. I hope to hear back from you soon whenever you find the opportunity. Love, Fluttershy
