Aggressively Small

A Cool Chapter

Spike walked around a forest, looking for anyone. He couldn’t find Peewee, Twilight, or is parents anywhere. There was a gust of wind, causing him to turn around. To his terror, he saw a giant roc coming after him. The roc let out a ear shattering screech, causing him to fall back. Everything started to feel freezing cold. He let out a cough and few ice shards flew out his mouth, landing on the ground in front of him. He couldn’t seem to move his body as if it were frozen in place. He could feel himself shrinking in fear.

The roc charged at him with it’s sharp, blood covered claws pointing towards him. Spike let out a scream and covered his face, letting out a cry.

“Spike!” Twilight exclaimed. Spikes eyes snapped open to see that he was in his shared room, not the forest. Twilight must have shaken him awake, because her hooves were on the sides of his arms. His breathing was fast and tears slid down his face. He was shaking slightly from fear and coldness. It was odd that he was cold because it was the middle of summer.

“Are you okay?” She asked in concern. Spike mindlessly pulled his body closer to Twilights, hugging her closely. She hugged him back, rubbing his head and humming softly. That was always so calming to him. Spike felt something warm touch his leg. He glanced down to see that Peewee had leaned on his leg, trying to comfort him.

“Why is it so cold?” Spike asked, still shivering.

“You started breathing ice in your sleep, I don’t think you’ve ever done that before. You don’t even breath fire in your sleep.” Twilight said in bewilderment. Spike looked around to see that the walls and floor had patches of ice on it. He thought for a moment.

“I’ve done this before. When Queen Chrysalis trapped me in the caves under Canterlot, I destroyed some rocks by breathing ice.” Spike explained. Twilight gave him a look of surprise and looked out the window. It had to be at least two in the morning.

“I know it’s still pretty late, but do you mind if I do some experiments?” She asked. Spike shrugged his shoulders.

“I don’t mind at all, I don’t think I’ll be able to go back to sleep anyway.” He said. Twilight grinned and pulled away from the hug, walking over to her desk. Spike got hit with the feeling of coldness, causing him to shiver more. His teeth clattered together. He absolutely despised the cold. Being on the Canterlot mountains messed up snow days for him because he was to afraid to go outside for a while.

Peewee hopped onto his lap. He closed his eyes tightly, letting out a small squeak. Peewee burst into flames and leaned on Spikes stomach, warming him up. Twilight turned around holding a red sweater.

“Put this o-“ Twilight stared at Spike and Peewee for a few moments. She let out a sigh. “I told you two not to start fires in the house.” She said, rubbing the bridge of her nose. Spike let out a nervous laugh.

“Sorry.” He apologized. Peewee flapped his wings slightly and the fire went away. Twilight tossed the sweater to Spike, and he caught it with no trouble. He slipped it on and it was quite comfortable. Rarity made it for him during winter.

“Let’s start.”

Spike sat on a stool that was in the middle of the basement. He swung his feet off of the side because his legs were to short to hit the floor. He had small suction cups covering his body to check his vitals. He also had a metal helmet on with little flashing lights on it. There was a large metal contraption placed on the table that Peewee laid on top of. Twilight pressed a few buttons on the machine and faced Spike, holding a journal and a pen.

“Can you breath fire for me?” Twilight asked. Spike nodded his head and let a small flame shoot from his lips with ease. Twilight looked at the machine and jotted something down. Spike didn’t really know what she was doing, but it had to be important science stuff.

“Now can you breath ice for me?” She asked. Spike took in a deep breath and exhaled a green flame. He looked at the flame in confusion for a second before trying again. The same result happened.

“Did you do something before to breath ice?” Twilight asked. Spike thought for a moment.

“When I did it the first time I was really angry. When I did it earlier I was scared. Maybe it happens when I get emotional?” Spike suggested. Twilight gave him an uneasy look.

“I don’t want you to get upset just for an experiment, that wouldn’t be good.” Twilight stated. Spike crossed his arms and furrowed his eyebrows.

“I can do it.” He said grumpily. Twilight rolled her eyes. She was used to Spike being extra stubborn.

“You don’t have to do, we can do this later.” Twilight said, walking over to the machine to shut it off. Spike let out an annoyed huff, his cheeks puffing out. He wasn’t really mad at Twilight, he was mainly mad at himself cause he couldn’t do it and dissapointed her. The more he thought about it, the angrier he got at himself.

“I can do it right now!” Spike exclaimed. Before Twilight could respond, he let out a large blue flame. It covered the machine in ice, freezing it over completely. Peewee flew off of the machine before the ice could get to him. Spikes scales drooped.

“Sorry, I know that was expensive.” Spike apologized. Twilight shook her head.

“It’s fine I needed a new one, that was old. What you did was amazing, that was way more than what you did in you sleep!” Twilight exclaimed in astonishment. Spike smiled slightly. They both turned around when the machine started to spark. It shook slightly as bolts and screws started to shoot out. The machine started to break apart, causing the pieces to go everywhere. A sharp piece of metal made it way towards Twilight. Spike ripped the helmet off of his head and ran towards her.

“Twilight watch out!” Spike exclaimed in terror. He pushed her out of the way and the metal made contact with the bridge of his nose. It stuck into his skin, causing him to bleed heavily. He heard Twilight gasp and stumbled slightly. The impact had made him very light headed. The machine let out a loud booming noise, make Spike flinch. Twilight had used her magic to unplug the machine.

“Stay still.” Twilight commanded as she ran over to get the first aid kit. Spike’s knees buckled and he collapsed onto the floor with a thud. Peewee let out loud screeches to get Twilights attention. Spike felt saw everything around him go dark before he blacked out.

Spike groggily opened his eyes. He moved his eyes around to see Peewee was pressed against his side and Starry was in his hands. He felt a sharp pain come from his nose, causing him to wince in pain. He noticed that there was a bandage on the bridge of his nose.

Peewee looked up at him because of the movement and happily flapped his wings when he saw that Spike was awake. He flew out of the room in a hurry. Spike sat up to see that he was in Twilights bed. The sun was rising, which meant he had to have been out for a few hours. Hoofsteps came from up the stairs, causing Spike to turn around. Twilight rushed over to Spike and pulled him into a tight hug.

“I’m so glad you’re okay!” Twilight exclaimed. Spike smiled and hugged him back. “You promised not to do things that could get you killed.” She exclaimed, now angry and pulling away from the hug. Spike rubbed his arm, avoiding eye contact.

“I know that I need to protect you from anything that’s bad, it doesn’t matter if I die, it just matters if you stay alive.” Spike admitted. Twilight let out a gasp.

“Don’t you ever say that, your life is just as important as anyone else’s and you will take better care of yourself!” Twilight exclaimed while pulling Spike into another hug. He felt himself tearing up and hid his face into Twilights arm.

No matter what, he’d have to stay alive for Twilight.
