The first pony that entered the Councilor's office was an angry Starlight Glimmer with two kites surrounded in her magic in tow. The first kite was a purple and cyan triangle and the second was a cupcake. The second pony that came along with her was a joyfully bouncing Pinkie Pie, talking about their kite-flying time.
The bouncing from the pink pony stopped as she heard Starlight place the kites in the left corner angrily. "Hey, Starlight, are you ok?", she asked. "Didn't you have fun at kite-flying time."
"Oh, I did.", Starlight hissed. She turned around to glare at Pinkie Pie. "But, right now, I'm mad at you, Pinkie."
Pinkie Pie was confused. "Huh? Me? What did I do?", she asked.
"Well, did you see Twilight on the couch when you came in here, screaming?", Starlight growled.
"Um, I did when I heard her.", Pinkie answered nervously. "But, how come she had her eyes closed and-"
"I WAS HYPNOTIZING HER!", Starlight screamed, slamming her front hooves against the floor, nearly making everything shake. "I was going to get rid of her fear of ladybugs and you totally ruined it!" While they were out on the field, flying kites, Twilight joined along with them. She made a ladybug kite from hoof and flew it into the sky. Not only she made fly into the sky, but she psychotically made it go higher and higher until it submerged into the clouds. And even worse, the wind got stronger that the string unraveled and disconnected from the holder. The string flew high along with the design of the kite, until it was gone.
Pinkie felt shame overcome her. "Oh, I'm s-sorry, Starlight. I didn't mean to-" She paused, flinching in shock and confusion. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Twilight has a fear of ladybugs? Who in the wide world of Equestria has a fear of ladybugs?"
"Well, apparently Twilight does!", Starlight retorted. "She had that fear ever since she was a filly! While I was hypnotizing her, I was going to command her to treat them like nice creatures instead of being afraid of them! But, thanks to your stupidity for not knocking on the door and waiting for me to allow you to come in, she's now going aggressive towards them and I have to do it all over again!"
"Do what all over again?", Pinkie asked.
"HYPNOTIZING HER!", Starlight roared, making a gust of wind blow through the pink earth pony. "Lets just go find her and bring her here, so I can-"
The pink unicorn's sentence was interrupted by a sudden voice. "Haha!", Twilight cackled, bursting into the office with a devilish grin on her face. She rudely pushed Pinkie alongside of her to get into Starlight's face. "Did you see how high that ladybug kite went?! It went so high into the sky until the gods of the clouds ate-" Her face was slapped by a brighter pink hoof.
Starlight wanted her to shut up about the incident during kite-flying. "Twilight, sit down on the couch!", she commanded. "I need to re-hypnotize you, so you can stop going crazy on ladybugs."
Twilight obeyed. She sat her haunches down on the couch and sighed. "I'm sorry, Starlight.", she apologized. "I-"
"Twilight.", Starlight interrupted, sitting down at her desk. "Don't apologize, it's fine." She took a deep breath and made a star pendulum appear with her magic. "Keep your-"
"Starlight!", a new voice in the office said. It was Rarity, along with Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, who unnoticeably stepped into the office. "Thank goodness we found you. Have you seen- Oh, Twilight, there you are."
"We saw you out on the field going crazy, Sugarcube.", Applejack said. "Is every- hmph." She was interrupted when Pinkie Pie shoved a hoof in her mouth.
"Quiet, Starlight's trying to do something with Twilight.", Pinkie announced.
"Pinkie, we were just trying to ask-", Rainbow Dash started, when she got interrupted by Pinkie.
"I SAID QUIET!", she screamed.
"Thank you, Pinkie.", Starlight said, appreciatively. She cleared her throat. "As I was saying, Twilight, keep your eyes on this star." She levitated the star over to Twilight's face and began to swing it right and left. "You should begin to feel sleepy any moment now." She continued as Twilight's eyes followed the star and her eyelids lowering. "Just listen to the sound of my voice."
Twilight's eyes closed as she listened to Starlight's commands.
"Instead of being afraid of a ladybug, and being... aggressive towards one, you will now treat them like nice creatures and smile at them whenever you see one. No more being afraid of ladybugs." She finished.
"No more... being afraid... of ladybugs.", Twilight murmured. She slowly opened up her eyes and blinked a few times.
Fluttershy brought out a ladybug from behind her neck and showed it to Twilight.
Twilight looked at the small bug in Fluttershy's hoof. She didn't freak out, but smile at it. "It worked.", she chirped.
Starlight sighed in relief. "Thank Celestia.", she said.
"So, Twilight, what's this whole thing about you being afraid of ladybugs?", Rainbow Dash asked.
"Well, it was back when I was a filly.", Twilight answered. "A swarm of them came into our house and Shining Armor told me that the spots on their wings are extra eyes that watch wherever you go. It made me feel so scared that I can't handle looking at them again."
Fluttershy gasped. "Oh my goodness!", she cried, as the ladybug flew off her hoof and headed off to who knows where. "Why would Shining talk about ladybugs like that?"
Twilight responded with a shrug of her shoulders.
"Ladybugs are supposed to be cute and friendly, not terrifying.", Rainbow Dash agreed.
"Let me tell you girls, I was shocked as you all are.", Pinkie stated.
"I thought Shining was a really good brother.", Rarity said. "I had no idea he would do something so cruel."
"You and me both, Rarity.", Applejack said to Rarity. "I can never imagine him saying something so vial."
"You know, Twilight, if you were afraid of ladybugs, you could've just told me.", Fluttershy said. "I would've cancelled the Ladybug care-project."
"Yeah, but I didn't want to hurt your feelings, Fluttershy.", Twilight said, getting off the couch. "So, don't feel bad for bringing them in the school." She put a hoof on Fluttershy's shoulder.
"Thanks, Twilight.", Fluttershy said, smiling.
"So, are we good?", Applejack asked.
"Seems like it, Applejack.", Twilight answered.
"And Starlight, I want to say I'm sorry about-", Pinkie started to apologize, but was interrupted by Starlight.
"Pinkie, don't worry, it's fine.", Starlight said. "Besides, I should be sorry for how mean I acted towards you earlier."
"Oh, it's ok.", Pinkie said.
Just then, Smolder showed up at the door to the office. "Professor Sparkle, you have a visitor.", she said, revealing Shining Armor standing next to her.
The white unicorn stallion waved.
"Thank you, Smolder.", Twilight said appreciatively as Smolder took off on her left. She and her friends approached Shining. "Hi, big brother. What are you doing here?"
"I just want to show you something.", Shining said, reaching behind his neck and pulling out a ladybug. He made a devilish grin. "Here it is! A ladybug! Dun dun daaaaaaaah!"
Twilight didn't scream or panic, she just smiled at it, which confused Shining.
"Huh? I said 'Dun dun daaaaaaaaah' It's a ladybug, you better run, Twilight!", Shining said, trying to scare Twilight. But, nothing happened. The ladybug flew off his hoof and disappeared into the hall. He was more confused than ever. "What just happened?"
"It's obvious. ISN'T IT?!", Starlight shouted at the stallion. "Twilight told me that you made her feel afraid of ladybugs when you two were kids! Fluttershy had assigned the students to do a ladybug care-project during class and your sister's still afraid of them! Well, guess what? I hypnotized her and made her fear of ladybugs go away!"
"You said that the spots on their wings are extra eyes and they watch wherever you go!", Fluttershy added. "That was the most offensive thing I've ever heard!"
"Which was very silly and ridiculous of you to say about them.", Rarity huffed.
"That was very horrible of you to turn your own sister's happy smile upside down when you were kids.", Pinkie retorted, twisting her neck, making her head upside down.
"We've known you for who knows how long and then we hear that you told Twilight something that is nonsense and scared her so bad.", Applejack snarled.
"What kind of brother are you?! Huh?!", Rainbow Dash bellowed.
Shining gasped. "Twilight,... y-you... You told them about that one time?", he asked.
Twilight nodded fiercely. "You had no idea how upset I was when you made me believe that false thing about ladybugs.", she scowled.
Shining Armor gulped nervously. "Um, can I have a talk with you in here?", he asked.
"Yeah, sure.", Twilight said to her brother. She turned to each of her friends. "Girls, would you wind leaving the room, just for a little bit?"
"Sure, Twilight.", Applejack said, as she and the other friends walked out of the office.
Twilight closed the door with her magic, she wanted her conversation to be private. She and her brother walked over to the couch and sat down on it. She looked at him, continuing to scowl at him.
Shining Armor looked over at her sister with his nerves still shocked. "S-So, you s-still remember that t-time after all those y-years ago?", he asked, quivering.
"Yes.", Twilight answered. "That time has lived in my mind ever since."
"Did you tell anypony else other than your friends?", Shining asked.
"No!", Twilight snapped. "I kept it secret, because it's too embarrassing to tell! As of that, the day after the ladybug swarm at our house, you told all my old classmates about my fear of ladybugs and humiliated me in front of them! I never wanted to come out of my room, because of what you did!"
"Hey, I understand how upset you were when I told all them about that.", Shining said. "You were lucky to come out after Princess Celestia made them realize that it was wrong to make fun of somepony when they have a fear of something. I was going to come to you and tell you I'm sorry, but you kept-" His sentence was cut off when he heard a sniffle. He looked over and saw Twilight crying quietly with tears slowly running down her cheeks. He sighed shamefully. "I'm sorry, Twily." He was getting ready to off the couch. "I think it's best if I-"
"Wait!", Twilight protested, grabbing her brother's shoulder.
"What?", Shining asked.
"Don't go.", Twilight pleaded. "Stay. I forgive you."
"You do?", Shining asked with doubt in his tone. "No you don't." He eyes narrowed down grumpily and he had a slight frown.
"Yes I do.", Twilight said. "I really do forgive you."
"Why would you?", Shining retorted. "I put you in fear of ladybugs and got you made teased for it."
"Yes, but didn't you have some time to think about it?", Twilight asked.
Shining tapped his chin in thought. "As a matter of fact, I did.", he said, turning his body towards his sister. "I did learn something after what I did long ago."
"And what is that?", Twilight asked.
"I learned that just because I thought something was funny doesn't mean I have to go too far with it.", Shining said. He then felt his torso being wrapped up tightly in his sister's forehooves.
"Thank you, Shining.", Twilight said softly. "I love you, big brother."
Shining chuckled. "I love you too, Twily.", he said back, hugging her back. They departed. "Hey, can ask for a favor?"
"Sure.", Twilight said. "What is it?"
"Can you have Starlight brainwash me into forgetting I told you about the ladybugs' wing-spots as extra eyes?", Shining asked.
"Well, Starlight's the hypnotist.", Twilight said. "She decides."
Outside the office, the six friends had their ears pressed against the door, they were listening to Twilight's and Shining's conversation. Starlight heard the part where Shining asked Twilight to have her hypnotize him and erase the memory of him saying nonsense about ladybugs having extra eyes. "Great. Just great.", she muttered. "First, I hypnotized Twilight two times, now I have to hypnotize her brother. But, I have to decide when I want to do it."
"Should we tell Twilight that were eavesdropping on them?", Rainbow Dash asked.
Starlight shook her head. "Nah, she'll figure it out."
