In the mysterious forest that was known as the Everfree forest, Discord was in his room which was located in a pyramid of cards. His mind kept wandering to the past month. True he was forgiven since then by the ponies. In all truth, it was Twilight that was the first to forgive him. He admired her compassion towards him, even at times where he doesn't think he deserves it.
His wandering mind was distracted at the sounding of a knocking at the door. The door opened revealing Twilight. "Morning, Discord. How'd you sleep?"
Typical Twilight. Always puts others before her, "I slept well, my dear. You could say I slept like a bear during hibernation."
Twilight giggled with a smile. "Well, that's great. Honestly, I thought you would've had another restless night."
"Me, another restless night? Never. I do not know how you can think of such a thing."
Twilight gave him an unconvinced look. Every bit of reassurance he had faded. "Okay, okay. Maybe I still feel slightly guilty but how can I not? I nearly put the pony I love in serious danger..."
Twilight looked at the draconequus with a smile. "I love you to Discord, don't forget. Sure you made a couple of mistakes that day, but I'm still here. I'm not going anywhere."
Their attention was soon directed, as a rainbow trail was coming towards their direction at top speed. Just about as the rainbow trail was gonna hit them it stopped, revealing Rainbow Dash baring a serious expression. "Princess Twilight. Princess Celestia needs you to meet her at Canterlot urgent business."
"What could be so urgent that Celestia requires Twilight?" Discord asked slightly curious.
Rainbow Dash looked at him with an annoyed expression. "She wouldn't say without the attendance of Twilight. She's also asked for you as well."
That surprised him, as he stared at the cyan pegasus with a confused expression. "Me? Surely you are mistaken. Your beloved princess seeks me out unless the situation is way out of her control. I'm sure it's nothing that requires the attendance of the master of chaos."
From that moment on a silence filled the room, neither pony nor draconequus said a word. A strong tension was in the air. A lot of thoughts entered Discord's mind.
"Well, if Princess Celestia needs us, I'm sure we're up to the challenge. Though, I must admit it is sorta strange why she would call for Discord. It's not like he has done anything wrong from that day," Twilight said, though she didn't sound as confident as she hoped.
Discord looked at the two ponies with an uneasy frown. "I guess you're right. However, I think we're just wasting our time. I'm sure everything is going to be absolutely fine."
...
"What?!" Shouted the six bares of the elements of harmony, the echo filling up the Canterlot castle's throne room.
"Run this by me again. You are saying that the Crystal Empire has returned from its thousand-year slumber, which in turn brought back the mighty King Sombra?" The room fell relatively quiet, as they each were processing the information they received.
"Yes, Twilight. Your mother and father are already there, trying to help lift the spirits of the crystal ponies."
"Crystal ponies?" Rarity asked with a dreamy sigh, imagining what her coat would look like crystalized.
"And what does this have to do with me? Why summon me, when I could be home just to tell me that you aren't sending me with them?"
"Because Discord, we have a much more pressing matter that needs your assistance. I'm afraid that Tirek has escaped Tartarus, and began to drain magic from the subjects of Equestria."
"And let me guess. You require my help to track him down and return him to Tartarus?"
"Yes," Princess Luna answered. "Though I and my sister are not sure of how these occurrences came to be."
Discord looked at the night princess with a toothy grin. "I'm sure my mission will be a piece of cake. Though, I'm sorta worried for Twi. After all, if I recall correctly, King Sombra is a powerful adversary who is not to be taken lightly of."
Twilight looked to Discord with an assuring smile. "Don't worry about me. I promise I'll be very careful, and I have my friends. King Sombra is no match against the magic of friendship."
"Ya got that right," said Applejack with a smile.
"Absolutely," Rainbow Dash said hovering in the air.
"We got this. Together," said Pinkie in her energetic tone.
"Yay...." Fluttershy quietly said.
"Let's do this," Rarity said with a determined look.
Discord looked at Twilight with a concerned expression. Slowly he got on his knees and embraced the young alicorn into a hug. "Just be careful, Twilight. As I said, King Sombra is no pony to take lightly."
"I will don't worry about me. Just focus on your mission. I'll see you when Sombra is defeated."

Inside the changeling hive, Queen Chrysalis sat on her throne, carved from ancient dark stone. "How could this have happened? After all the plans I made, ruined by a singular mare. I will rule Equestria and no pony will get--"
Her rant was cut off with an evil chuckle. "You know why your plans were easily ruined?" The other changelings turned to the voice, their horns charged only to see a goat with large dark blue horns.
"Who are you?! What are you doing in my kingdom?!" Chrysalis's horn was flaring with her green aura.
"I've come here to demand you and your army's involvement in my plans to rid Equestria of Princess Twilight and her friends once and for all. Not just her, but Discord as well. As you may know, his reformation is a very big problem, if we take him out and the bares of the elements Equestria will be ours."
"As tempting as your offer may sound. But, how do you suppose we take care of Discord? He has very powerful magic, not just any pony can stand a chance."
"You will see." The goat laughed as his eyes glowed in the darkening room.
