Shining Armor alerted his guard and Rarity and Discord. Then, the two royals, well, three counting Discord, Rarity and the guard met up as they were almost catching up to the culprit. The kidnapper flew outside of the Crystal Empire and was standing in front of the gate. The cavalry jumped up and tried to dog-pile the masked figure, but only to get caught in an invisible bubble that ricocheted them back to the ground; which were 3 feet away from the gate. 

Then, when they started recollecting themselves after the impact, they saw the hooded figure turn Flurry counter clockwise and held her in front of him. Then they see another hooded figure, but it was taller than the smaller one. And it was shaped like a female. The second hooded figure bent her head down, and pulled her head back as the hood that covered her face was on the back of her neck, which revealed it to be... Twilight?! 
But, the Twilight that Shining Armor, Cadence, Flurry Heart, Discord, or Rarity knew. For it was Twilight's body that stood there, but, Twilight didn't seem like herself, for her eyes were glowing pink and her pupils were cat-like slits. Then, the two wedded ponies remember, along with Rarity and the guard, what Discord said that Twilight was possessed by Cosmos, the evil draconequus and who was his ex-girlfriend.

Cosmos Twilight started to speak. "If you ever want to see your precious daughter OR your precious sister again, you will come, with Rarity and Discord, but none of your guards, to Canterlot, at the castle where I'm residing, with somepony or whoever to complete a spell of mine. If not, then I will use her as another host," the possessed pony said as she raised her left hoof towards the baby. Then, she pulled her hoof back to the ground and looked at the figure. "Well done," she started. Then, she pushed her head forward to the figure as the said figure put Flurry under his right armpit. "...Spike," Cosmos Twilight said as she hissed his name while sticking her tongue out. The ponies and the draconequus perked up and started gasping as they heard their hero's name. Spike, who still kept his mask on looked down in shame as he brought said shame to the empire who called him their hero. Then, Cosmos lifted the princess's head whom she possessed up, and started to perform a spell, then she, along with Spike and the baby were encompassed in a pink flash. When the others took their hooves and lion paw off their eyes, they look to see that the three that stood out of the empire, we're completely gone.
