Prologue
Equestrian/Griffon War: Day 129
The infirmary was over piled. Some of the knights had to stay outside for the over occupancy. Though some of the less injured ones gave up their seats or beds to the more critical so they could be treated. Black Feather stood leaning against a wall in the end of the hall. Black Feather wasn’t aware that this enemy commander commanded Ravagers. Three scout teams, one patrol unit and two squads were attacked and defeated by them. Black Feather was with the last squad to fight them. He came prepared but the brutal ways that the Ravagers fought cost his men to lose moral.
“‘sigh’ I should have been more prepared” Black Feather said to no one unparticular.
“Black Feather, can I bandage your leg” said a quiet voice. Black Feather turned to see Flutter Shy standing there with a roll of bandage.
“Oh, I’m sure I’m fine some of the men need it more than me”
“Maybe but you still need to take care of yourself to, not just the men you lead” Flutter Shy said.
“She’s right sir” Black Feather turned to see one of his men he led in the last fight walking up to him with crutches. “If you are hurt than we can’t look to you to properly lead us in the fights in the future. You give us inspiration General, right guys” the knight said to some other soldiers near them.
“Yeah”
“you got that right” some of the other minor wounded soldiers said. But a more critical wounded knight was near and said to Black Feather.
“take care of yourself first while we are safe at home sir. Worry about us in the field, it’s our job to worry about you here at home” the knight was laying on a stretcher with a sword stab in his side and left thigh.
Black Feather than nodded to his men than to Flutter Shy and sat down so she can bandage his leg that took an arrow while saving a knight from a Ravager about to finish him off.
“General sir” Black Feather looked up to see Burst entering the hospital.
“What’s up Burst”
“Princess Twilight has asked to see you and Council Women Shy immediately” Burst said. Black Feather looked at Flutter Shy and she nodded. She helped him to his feet and they left with Burst in tow.
“we may have had them outnumbered but we were definitely out matched” Glass Horn said. He was in the map room with the rest of the girls giving a report on how the fight went. “The way they fought was not of any type of Griffon style we have ever seen” Glass Horn said.
“That’s because they are not Griffons” Black Feather said as he and Flutter Shy entered the map room. Black Feather stood next to Glass Horn and Flutter Shy took her seat.
“What do you mean Black Feather” Twilight asked.
“east of the Griffon Empire were more flying races that the Empire either invaded or subjugated them into the empire overtime. The Ravagers are from the Hawk Hoards. A more barbarian group of people, now more than ever. They were one of the first to be taken over by the Empire. They now serve only as fighters for the Legionnaire army” Black Feather said.
“so that’s why their fighting style was different” Twilight said.
“Yes, they love to fight. They even monger and worship it” half the people in the room shook.
“so, what do we do” Twilight asked.
“we need help, help from someone that is even less traditional then us and won’t mind getting dirty” Black Feather said.
Twilight thought for a minute. There were several races that would help but they wouldn’t want to enter a war with the second largest kingdom in Equis. Only an internal race could be able to help since Equestria is already at war with the Griffons.
“there are many other races, but they won’t risk war with the Griffons. In fact, some of them have treaties and diplomatic relations with them” Twilight said.
“there has to be someone. Maybe another race that lives in Equestria” Black Feather said.
“There are some but not a lot, the Buffalo Tribes near Appleloosa, the Zebra Colony in the west. No, the only one close and strong enough to help are the Diamond Dogs of Dimondia” Twilight said.
“oh no not those ruffians” Rarity said.
“Great let’s meet them than” Black Feather said.
“It won’t be that easy, they have a colony near Ponyville but they all live underground searching for gems. We trade gems from our mines with theirs often but that is the only relation we have with them” Twilight said.
“Also, not to mention that they kidnapped Rarity one time and now they are totally afraid of her” Rainbow Dash said.
“We can’t make them join through fear or with a display of power. Fear won’t make them fight as well and a show of power won’t work, we would be at war on two fronts” Twilight said.
“It is worth a try to ask them to aid us though” Apple Jack said.
“yeah you right. Black Feather, Glass Horn call the Flugels and prepare for trip into the Diamond Dogs Diamond Colony” Twilight ordered.
“Right” Black Feather and Glass Horn said. They then left to prepare for negotiations with the Diamond Dogs.
