//------------------------------// // The Dazzlings // Story: Not Our Sunset // by YellowHornBrony //------------------------------// Twilight had invited me and our friends over to her house to go over the notes she had drawn up. The notes were surprisingly simple. All we had to do was use our instruments and voices to generate enough power to jumpstart this amulet thing. But there were two things missing. One was a vocal range of baritone to soprano. That and a magical object and a creature from that world. That’s what we were missing now. “Where are we gonna get that?” Rainbow asked. “Honestly I do- Wait!” Rarity exclaimed, “The Dazzlings! If we could get them to help us, we could maybe jumpstart the machine!” “You mean Adagio Dazzle, Sonata Dusk and Aria Blaze?” I asked, “What do you mean, magical beings? I’ve known them my entire life. Trust me, they’re humans.” “You must be talking about this world’s version of them,” Twilight said, “But that’s actually really useful information. Maybe we could have them all meet up with each other and do an-” “Not happening, Twi” I cut her off. She was not doing an experiment on my friends. “But wait, those three ran off a while ago,” Rarity said, “Where would they have gone?” “I may or may not have followed them home after investigating that band competition of yours,” Twilight said, “They went into this abandoned apartment building on the corner of Canterlot and White.” “Hey,” Applejack said, “Ain’ that where Pony Sunset used ta live?” “That place was wretched,” Rarity said. “What scared of spiders?” Rainbow teased. “No, they're just icky,” Rarity said, “Besides, weren’t you the one who made Applejack kill a spider because you were scared?” “You promised not to talk about it!” Rainbow whined. “Okay, like shut up,” I moaned, “You’re starting to piss me off.” “Ah’d just let ‘em be,” AJ put her hand on my shoulder, “They fight like this all the time. I reckon Rainbow will try to get Pinkie to back her up and Pinkie will just stop ‘em.” “Hey, Pinks!” Rainbow called, “Come help me prove a point.” “Actually, Rainbow,” Pinkie put her hand on her shoulder, “I think you should stop and try talking to someone like I don’t know me?” “But Pinkie-” “She’s right, darling,” Rarity slumped, “We should relax. It was pretty immature for us to argue like that.” “Told ya,” I slumped. We approached the old apartment buildings. Pinkie had a wide grin across her face as she bounced towards the building. He had just finished telling us how she and Sonata had been friends for a while now. It had started after the battle of the bands. And, obviously, Rainbow was jealous. “So you’re trying to tell me you’re going out with her?” Rainbow questioned her. “No!” Pinkie bounced, “I would never cheat on you!” “Cheat?” I mused. “Pinkie and RD have been in a relationship for two months now,” Rarity said, “Honestly darling, you’re so bad at relationships. I mean, look at you. You can’t even ask out the girl you like.” My face lit up, “What?! I do not know what you are talking about.” “You’re lying, darling,” She said, “You blushed and you divided conjunctions. So tell me who it is. Is it Applejack? Me? Derpy? Oh, it’s Twilight, isn’t it?” My face grew even brighter. “Knew it,” Rarity giggled, “Honestly, you are bad at this. Just tell her how you feel, it’s not like she’s going to hate you.” “You sure?” I asked. “Definitely” She smiled. We shut our mouths after that. We had eventually stopped outside the old building. “Sony!” Pinkie called, “Are you in there!” “Coming!” A voice replied. After a couple minutes, a blue girl appeared. She was dressed in a black sweater and blue jeans. Is this really Sonata? “Pinkie didn’t we agree-” She was shoved to the side by an orange haired girl. This was Adagio. I could tell by the hair. Even my Adagio had that hairstyle. Holy shit. “Sunset Shimmer!” She ran up to me and grabbed me by the throat, “Are you here to finish what you started? If so, I will stop you now.” “Wait, Dagi!” Pinkie grabbed her arm, “That’s not the same Sunset! She’s from this world!” She let go, “Sorry.” “Pony Sunset must’ve really screwed you over,” I told her. “You have no idea,” Adagio smirked, “So what brings you out here.” “We need your help,” Pinkie told her. “What is it?” Adagio groaned. “In exchange for helping us,” Rainbow said, “You’ll have free access back to Equestria. What we need you to do is bring us the pieces of the jewels. That and we need you to sing.” “Okay," Adagio shrugged. No arguing. Nothing. This place is nuts.
