//------------------------------// // Friends and Enemies // Story: Equestria Girls GT // by luckyboys121 //------------------------------// Pan, Rainbow Dash, and Flutteshy watched as Celestia and Sunset turned the corner towards the nurses office, before Dash turned back to Pan and said, "Well, whatever Sunset's up to there's no use worrying about it now." "I guess," said Pan as she decided to think about all this later. "So I'm guessing this Sunset girl does stuff like this often?" "More or less, I heard that a while before I moved here she wasn't too bad. Fluttershy knows more about that though," said Dash as she turned and noticed the girl was now hiding behind her. "What's with the sudden fear Shy, Sunset left?" "I know it's just... I never thought I'd see someone take her down so easy," said Fluttershy as she tentatively stepped forward. At seeing this Pan stepped forward too and, as she noticed Fluttershy retreat slightly, said "No need to be scared, after all I saved you." "Yes and I'm grateful but," said Fluttershy as her voice died down to an inaudible pitch and she attempted get behind Dash again. "No need to feel bad, Shy's always like this around new people," said Dash before grabbing Fluttershy and moving her closer to Pan, "Come on Shy, like she said she saved you," Dash then looked in her eyes and smiled as she said, "and if that was some king of trick, remember you're tougher then you think and I'm here, so between the two us no one will stand a chance." Pan slightly blushed as she said, "Not sure how I feel about that, but I promise this isn't a trick." She then reached her hand out saying, "We never actually introduced ourselves to each other. My name's Son Pan and it's nice to meet you." Fluttershy nervously hid behind her hair but stepped forward as she too reached out her hand and said, "Um hi, my name is Fluttershy... but you already knew that. It's um... nice to meet you too Son Pan." They then shook each others hands as Pan smiled and said, "You can just call me Pan, after all that's what all my friends call me." "Fri-friends?" said Fluttershy as she brushed the hair to the side. Pan smiled and nodded as she knew that one, despite not knowing them for very long Dash and Fluttershy where going to be her good friend and two, she knew that declaring this now would help her calm down a bit. It seemed to work as Fluttershy smiled and blushed saying, "Th-thank you, and you're welcome to just call me Shy... if you want to that is." "Of course," said Pan as she withdrew her hand. She then took on a serious expression as she said, "So what can you tell me about Sunset's past?" Before Fluttershy could respond though a bell rang and Rainbow Dash said, "OH dang, that's the five minute warning bell. Quick Pan, what class do you have first?" Pan, slightly peeved at the change in topic, but also not wanting to be late on the first day, reached into her pocket and pulled out her schedule saying, "Um.... Astronomy with Ms. Cheerilee." "Oh, dear," said Fluttershy as Rainbow Dash looked nervous. "What?" asked Pan in confusion. "OK, there's good news and bad news... well more like two good news's and two bad news's," said Dash. "OOOOKKKK?" said Pan in even greater confusion. "I guess give me the news that goes together." "Well the first good news is that we have that class now too so we can take you right there, the first bad news is that this is like the most frustrating class in the school," said Dash. Pan became somewhat relieved as she said, "OH, well I mean that doesn't sound too bad, it's not like I expected super easy classes." "OK, firstly I think you're misunderstanding what I mean by frustrating class and secondly I don't know why I'm taking the time to say all this because the class room is all the way on the other side of the school, but the good news if we hurry we can still make it... and I'm gonna stop talking now because it's just wasting more time, so let's go," said Dash before taking off down the hall. Pan looked over at Fluttershy who smiled and said, "Don't worry it's not that far... but we should still sprint." Fluttershy then started going down the hall with Pan following behind her. As they jogged Pan turned to Fluttershy and said, "So what where you gonna say about Sunset's past?" "Oh, I think we should wait to talk about it after class. Dash may have exaggerated how far away it was, but we should still hurry," said Fluttershy apologetically as they continued. Pan grumbled as she and Fluttershy soon entered the class and saw Rainbow getting off the ground and in her chair, as she apparently fell over in her haste, and they took seats on either side of her. Pan looked around only to see no teacher present and became slightly impatient as she whispered to Dash, "So how long does this class usually take." Dash groaned as she said, "That's the problem with this class it-" Rainbow Dash was cut off though as a woman wearing a green flower pattern skirt, a brown vest, and white shirt walked in saying, "Good morning class, as always I hope we are in for a short day but that's entirely up to all of you." She, who Pan guessed was Ms. Cheerilee, took her seat as she looked out at the class and noticed her saying, "Oh you most be the new student, Son Pan right?" "Um, yeah but you can just call me Pan." "Well Pan let me explain how this class works because, I do things a little differently then most teachers. Believe it or not I remember what it's like to be your age and the worst thing about high school for me was having to hear a teacher drone on and on about stuff we already knew. So what I do is ask you all questions about today's lesson before we do it and if just one of you gets the question right I won't go over it since well... you already know it, or at least one of you does and the others can take notes based on what they said." Pan then smiled as she said, "Does that mean if we get all the question right we can just go." This resulted in a groan from the others as Ms. Cheerilee's smile briefly faltered and she said, "Yes, but unfortunately no one has been able to do that yet and as you can tell some of the students are getting frustrated at that." Dash then mumbled to yourself, "You'd be frustrated too if someone told you might get to leave early, only to keep you tell the scheduled time." Cheerilee then rolled her eyes, as Dash wasn't as quite as she thought, before her smile returned and she said, "Now then class today's lesson is on gravity, specifically learning the gravity of all the planets in our solar system." The class then proceeded to groan as even the smartest among them had neglected to memorize ALL the planets gravitates. "Alright let's start with the easy one, what is Earth's gravity?" Pan looked around at the other students and saw their reactions varied from continued groans, from those who didn't know, to looks of thought as some did know but didn't fully remember. After confirming that no one else would answer Pan raised her hand saying, "9.807 meters per second per second." "Very good Pan," said Cheerilee with a smile before writing it on the board, so those who didn't know could take notes. "Now then, a little tougher, what is the gravity of Mercury." "3.7 meters per second per second," said Pan not even giving the others time to answer this time. Ms. Cheerilee wrote on the board and said, "Well it looks like we have someone here who might give you all the early day today." The other members of the class, Rainbow especially, now sat up excited to see this keep going as Cheerilee looked write at Pan and simply said, "Venus." "8.87," responded Pan with a confident smile. "Mars." "3.1711." "Jupiter." "24.79." "Saturn." "10.44." "Uranus." Pan noticed a slight giggle come from Dash at this one, but pressed on anyway saying, "8.87." "Neptune." "11.15." "Very good Pan, and since Pluto is no longer a planet that should be it," said Cheerilee as the other members of the class began to cheer. They were quickly cut sort though as she said, "However, as many of you remember the wandering planet Tuffle settled into our solar system about two years ago." The other students began to groan as Ms. Cheerilee went on saying, "It was the planet that, due to it's Earth like atmosphere, Capsule Corp used to briefly evacuate Earth when those solar flairs hit." "Um Ms. Cheerilee, didn't those flares completely destroy the Earth?" said a girl with grey skin, blonde hair, a blue shirt with a green skirt, and two yellow eyes that weirdly looked in different directions. Ms. Cheerilee looked slightly annoyed before her, clearly less then genuine judging by all the times it faltered, smile returned as she said, "No Derpy," she began drawing a diagram on the chalk board. "You see the flares charged the atmosphere with negative ions that made it appear to disappear until they dissipated." Cheerilee went on while Pan simply rolled her eyes and thought, "I still can't believe they buy all these lies that Bulma and Grandpa Satan come up with." Both the thought and speech where interrupted by a now super confident Dash saying, "The gravity of Tuffle is the same as Earth, 9.807 meters per second per second." She then leaned back in her chair with a cocky smile as she waited for the praise to come pouring in, only to have that confidence shattered as Ms. Cheerilee said, "Incorrect." Rainbow Dash stood up with a start and said, "WHAT! But we all stood on Planet Tuffle and lived there for a bit during the evacuation and it didn't feel any different." "Very true Rainbow Dash, Planet Tuffle's gravity was like Earth's but it isn't now. As you all know the president of the Capsule Corporation and leader of the evacuation, Bulma Briefs, constructed a gravity machine on Tuffle to change it to Earth's but what some of you might not know is that about a year ago the machine finally stopped transmitting meaning that it is inactive and Tuffle has reverted to it's natural gravity which is..." said Ms. Cheerilee as she paused and looked to Pan for the answer. Pan internally shied as she thought, "Well, at least that lie is half true, Bulma did build a gravity machine, albeit it was under that awful Babies orders." Finally she spoke up saying, "It's ten times Earth's gravity, 98.07 meters per second per second." The entire class then looked up at Cheerilee expecting an answer as she sat for a moment or two before what appeared to be a genuine smile graced her face as she said, "Correct," and then scribbled a quick explanation as to why Planet Tuffle's gravity was so high. The students didn't hear her though as they quickly copied what she wrote and headed out the door after only a few minutes of class. Ms. Cheerilee then checked her make up and quietly said, "Finally a chance to talk to that sexy new substitute," she then put away her compact and headed out the door sing songedly saying, "Here I come Mr. Sombra." All that remained in the room now was Pan, who was putting her stuff away in no real hurry, Dash who was staring at her dumbfounded, and Fluttershy who was simply smiling at her new friend as she said, "Wow, good job." "Thanks," said Pan with a matched smile. Dash then snapped out of her stuper as she said, "Seriously, brains and brawn. Looks you can give Sunset a run for her money in everything around here." Pan then had a slight blush cross her face for brief moment as she had only every heard the phrase "brains and brawn" used in cheesy pick up lines in movies, or from the guys who hit on Bulla, but upon hearing Sunset mentioned again she snapped out of it as she said, "Speaking of Sunset, you said you were going to tell me more about her." "Oh right," said Dash. "Well like I said, she's been that bitch you saw for as long as I'd known her, but apparently Fluttershy somewhat different story." Pan then looked at Shy who had her face down in embarrassment as she said, "Well I wouldn't say a different story. I mean I don't know why she's a.... a b word or anything." Pan then reached out and lifted her chin up and with a look of clear sincerity said, "It's fine if you don't know everything, I'm sure no one other then Sunset does, but whatever you can tell me would be greatly appreciated." She then thought to herself, "After dealing with that Shadow Dragon absorbing me, I don't intend to go into a fight, if I have too, without knowing everything about my opponent I can." "Well OK," said Fluttershy as she perked back up a bit. "Well I first met Sunset in middle school and she wasn't bad at all. I mean she always had her face buried in a book and never seemed to want to talk to anyone, but she wan't mean. But that all changed the summer before eight grade." "What happened?" asked Pan as she hung on her seat, eager to hear more. "Well I don't know the exact details but apparently she had some sort of falling out with Celestia-" "Wait, how could she have a falling out with her if she wan't even in high school yet?" asked Pan in confusion. "Oh, I guess I forgot to mention that Celestia is Sunset's mom," said Fluttershy. "WHAT!?" said Pan in surprise. "Well, adopted mother technically. Apparently when she was only eight Celestia, who was a close family friend, was babysitting her when her parents died in a car accident and since she didn't have any other family Celestia took it upon on herself to raise her," said Fluttershy. Pan then had a sullen look cross her face as Dash simply said, "Whenever I hear that I almost feel bad for her... almost." Not knowing what to say, as she wanted to feel bad for Sunset upon hearing this but also agreed with Dash that it was no excuse for her acting like this, she looked at Fluttershy to continue. "Anyway, Sunset and Celestia had some big argument and Sunset ran away from home. For a whole week Ceelstia was a wreck looking all over town for her and just when she started to thank that maybe Sunset had skipped town and she was planning to take a trip to neighboring Trottingham to look there, Sunset just suddenly... showed up right here in front of Canterlot High. Celestia was so overjoyed to have her back that she started doing everything she said, even letting her move out and into a cheap Capsule House on the edge of town." "And she was also apparently too relieved to notice Sunset's change in personality," added Dash flatly. "So she was just mean when she came back?" asked Pan. "Actually when eight grade first started she seemed nicer then I'd ever seen her. She was friendly to everyone, joined the student council and the martial arts club, even taking them to the championships, and she even chaired a fundraiser to renovate the gym," said Fluttershy. "Really?" said Pan in confusion, "So then what happened next." "What happened is she showed her true colors," said Dash. "Unfortunately Dash is right, about half way through the year she made it apparent that all of her niceness was just an act as she used her newfound influence over the school to bend everyone to her will. She would cut the budget of clubs she didn't like, somehow find out kids secrets to blackmail them, and whatever else she could to ruin the lives of those who stood against her," said Fluttershy solemnly. "By the time I showed up she had pretty much everyone under her boot. You can't tell Celestia because she's so scared of losing her 'darling little daughter' that she refuses to accept it even when the evidence is right in front of her, and as much as it pains me to admit it she's too tough for even me to stand up to her physically," said Dash angrily. Fluttershy quietly said, "Maybe if you and Appleja-" but a quick glare from Rainbow made her stop. Pan simply though, "Hmm, gonna have to pursue that later... maybe if I can get Fluttershy alone I'll ask about it." She then said, "Thank you Shy, I think this information could help all of us down the line," as she thought about everything that was said. Rainbow Dash simply chuckled as she said, "Not sure how it could, I mean now that we got the granddaughter of the champ here to kick her ass, I think her reign of terror's coming to an end." Pan wanted to explain how they couldn't just go ahead and attack Sunset out of the blue without learning everything first, as between Tien, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Nova Shenron she'd either heard or seen plenty of worse people who had turned everything around and wanted to make sure that there wasn't any deeper reason behind Sunset's behavior before she did anything, but when she looked over at Fluttershy's face she seemed to have a smile that said, "I know she's getting carried away, but let her have this." So Pan simply smiled and said, "Yeah," and returned Fluttershy's smile, but Rainbow didn't seem to notice that though as she pumped her fist in the air with a huge grin. Fluttershy then shook her shoulder to snap her out of it as she said, "Maybe we should start heading to our next classes." "Oh yeah," said Dash as she turned to Pan and said, "Shy has Economics with Mr. Rich and I have home ec. with Mrs. Cakes, how about you?" Pan fished her schedule back out of her pocket before saying, "I have... Gym with Coach Spitfire." "Wow, I would say you're in for a tough workout but I'm sure even Spity's drills aren't as intense as the champs training, anyway you remember where the gym is?" said Dash. "Yup, just down the hall from lockers, two doors down from the library," said Pan. "Cool, in that case we'll catch you later," said Dash as she headed out the door. Fluttershy then gave a wave and a smile before she turned to leave as well before Pan spoke up saying, "Shy wait." Fluttershy turned back around with an eager smile ready to help her new friend, but that smile quickly faded as Pan continued saying, "What where saying about some kind of Apple?" Instantly Fluttershy ran up to Pan and put her hand in front of her mouth as she looked back to the door before whispering, "Not here, Dash might still be close.... if you really want to know we can talk about it in front of the school at the end of the day." Not wanting to let this conversation run too long, as apparently this was a VERY sensitive topic for Dash, Pan simply nodded as Shy went out the door more somber then before as if something heavy was now weighing on her mind. As Pan sat in the room alone she finished packing her things and said to herself, "I feel a little bad asking Shy to tell me this stuff behind Dash's back but I need to learn all I can if I'm going to get the whole story," she then thought to herself before saying, "Just what the heck could have happened to Sunset during that week to turn into her a whole other person like that?" Meanwhile on the outskirts of Canterlot As Sunset removed the key from her bag and entered her home she flicked on the lights and glanced at her sparingly decorated living room, "Still not fitting to my regal stature, but if I'm right about this then everything will change soon." She thought about heading directly to her bedroom to add these new details to her long thought out plan, but decided to do what she always did when she got home as she sat at her computer and entered the web address in. She was soon greeted by the latest article from Trottingham News Day which featured a girl who looked just like her, albeit with a buzz cut and a flaming mask tattooed around the eyes, holding a baseball bat with a look a pure glee on her face directly under a headline that said, "GANG BOSS 'SUN STREAKER' CONTINUES TO TERRORIZE CITY." As Sunset read through the article she smiled and said, "Oh my little human counterpart, your tenaciousness is good but your goals are too small. Part of me still wishes I had followed you so I could have shown you what ruling is really like, but I just couldn't pass up a version of Celestia who ate any bullshit I said up like it was caviar." She then got up and continued saying, "Course this ditzy bitch is a far cry from my Celestia, still can't believe she hasn't seen one of these articles and put two and two together yet... then again maybe she has and just hasn't noticed, these disgusting apes all look the same anyway." Finally she reached her room and looked at the board she spent years working on as she said, "These men though.... they, or at least their power, is divine," she then put a new sticky note onto the board and after connecting it to others and drawing several circles around it said, "and soon that power will be in my hooves."
