//------------------------------// // Unusual Unusualities // Story: King Sombra's Unusual Thing that Happened // by CrimsonEquine //------------------------------// There was a large storm in the horizon. It fired boisterous blasts of energy throughout the earth. The Ponyville residents ran for the hills and quivered with fear. The storm was massive and spread to the edges of the sky. It all encompassed the area to the point that the sun couldn’t have it’s rays get to the earth. The buildings around Ponyville had their ceilings blown apart by a powerful shots of energy. To which the debris fell down into the ground. It crashed and dented into the concrete floor and broke it apart. The pieces of the jagged concrete rolled into other buildings and broke their plastic walls apart. Which caused the already terrified ponies in their homes to run for what safety they could find. Under the Le Fleur restaurant to which would have served dandelion sandwiches to the once hungry denizens, is now a sort of safe haven for those who want to escape the chaos of lightning that assailed them. From above the massive clouds came a levitating black figure with an equine form. A spiked crown on his mist like black mane. A silver armor and a regal red cape on his back. “Ahahahaha, King Sombra has come to… treat you all to an enjoyable gift!” he said. The residents of Ponyville all stared at him with an uneasy gaze. They couldn’t tell if the mad-equine was joking or not. One pony with a inconsequential color scheme came forth and tried his best to not run away in a terrified sprint. “What in Tartarus are you talking about? You’re destroying all our homes and terrorizing all of our families!” he said. King Sombra came down to the desecrated earth and pouted at the mess he just made. “Well, that wasn’t my intention at all I just wanted to blast some ponies with happy rays!” he jubilantly said. He smiled which showed his terrifying carnivorous teeth. “These lightning bolts are supposed to make you incredibly happy and overjoyed, a gift for saying sorry for all the trouble I have caused in the Crystal Kingdom”. The ponies whispered to themselves and continued to stand their ground. King Sombra had sweat that poured down from his face with an uneasy smile that came from his mouth. They all paused their muttered speech. “HIP HIP HOORAY!” they all said together. A group of ponies raised him to the air and cheered his name repeatedly. All around him they cheered, they used hastily made flags fashioned to his image. Some ponies played orchestral music in King Sombra’s honor with some instruments they found. Others started to dance in the street. A certain Pinkie Pie was doing a jig near the crowd of dancers. They all continued to scream King Sombra’s name as they enjoyed their little strewn together party. There was apple bobbing to which Sombra dipped his entire head deep into the water filled basket. To which he had won a golden bit. Next, Sombra drank from a cup of apple cider to which he sucked until it was all gone. Then, he took another cup and gobbled it down as fast as he could. A bunch of other ponies drank in quick succession. It turned out that Berry Punch had won the game. Mayor Mare gave her a medal of drunkenness as she lay on the wooden pavilion now out cold while slumped on the Mayor’s leg. King Sombra clapped at the award ceremony, before he hiccuped from so much drink. Next up was the games, they leaped on hastily strewn together games of jump rope and leapfrog while really drunk. Sombra nearly tripped over a pony, to which they laughed it off and then continued their shenanigans. After a while of enjoying the festivities(and particularly drunk with entertainment), the ponies readied themselves to be filled with happy rays, just as their idol King Sombra told them. “Woo hoo, you ponies sure know how to Par-Tay!” he said with drink in hoof. He watched as the ponies lined up together into a massive pile filled with everypony in town, while he wore a t-shirt and wore a necklace made of flowers. The ponies screamed happily in preparation of the happiness they were about to feel. “Okay now just sit still and don’t move, you’ll be happier than the happiest ponies in all of Equestria!” he said. King Sombra then lit up his magic and lightning shot down into the massive pile of ponies. They screamed. “So they just sat there and got blasted by lightning, how very… unusual?”, Queen Chrysalis looked outward from her tower before she turned towards Sombra who watched from the opposite wall.   “Well, I didn’t think they’d believe it either” he said. “I honestly just went with it for some reason, I don’t know it was weird”. Queen Chrysalis scratched one of her holes. “Well at least it tells us that the ponies are gullible, but I can’t figure out how to put that to use…”. “Yea, it was all fun and stuff, but I had to leave once the Princesses intervened, you should’ve seen the look on that Celestia’s face, she was angrier than a Ursa Minor on a wednesday!” They both laughed maniacally, their heavy chortles being deafened by the sound of buzzing outside. “Well, it's about time we get the attack started, I’ll see you later then” she said. Queen Chrysalis went through the hole in the tower and flew high above to meet with the rest. King Sombra stood still before he levitated a cup that was hidden behind him. He took many a swig until it was all gone. Then, he gave out a loud belch that resounded in the tower. The king looked around with a worried look on his face. Seeing that no creature noticed, he dropped the cup to the floor before smacking his cheeks with his hooves in fast succession. “Come on get your game face on, its go time!” he said. And with that he held his head high with horn radiating magic, he then teleported out of sight.
