Monster's Parole

Another Troubled Soul

Three Children sat at the breakfast table, watching as Medusa busied herself in the kitchen. Entering into the dining room she set down several plates of eggs, bacon and orange juice in front of each of the girls. Serving Adagio first, followed by both Aria and Sonata simultaneously, she then leaned against the islander that seperated the kitchen from the dining area. Picking up a rather large coffee cup she surveyed her charges. All three were extremely thin and bore the scars of their guardian plan upon their skins. The bruises hastily covered up by makeup and baggy clothes. Sipping her coffee she watched as Adagio took a bite, then nodded to her sisters. The younger two immediately dove in, sonata especially, devouring the food as piranha attack a capybara.

"My name is Medusa, and I'm about to lay down some policies for the running of this household."

The three girls looked to her, shuddering. Medusa grimaced. She would have to be careful of how she phrased things for a while. But her new 'policies' should help.

"1. When I am not present Adagio is in charge."

All three girls looked at the former gorgon quizzically, the glimmerings of hope beginning to take hold.

"2. All three of you will begin work for Flim and Flam. I have already negotiated your wages. I know from my conversation with them that the three of you worked for those two before. Those two scoundrels seem eager to have you back in their employ."

In all three girls that glimmer was threatening to become rain as she continued. But just as she had ended that last statement on a joke, her next statement she hoped for confusion.

"3. I see that all the handles on your rooms have been removed. They will be replaced, by ones that lock from the inside."

Medusa wished she could kill White Trash all over again when she saw the relief in her girls faces, but it was when she looked at Adagio that her eyes narrowed. The older of the three siblings was shuddering, almost as if she feared that all of this was but a dream. One the young girl had no desire to wake from, yet knew that come the morning she would be back in that hell. Looking to Adagio's younger siblings, she quickly did the math. Three Siblings, only two rooms were set up as bedrooms. The one had one bed, the other two. The single room was White Trash's. The Doubled Room was obviously Aria's and Sonata's. She had hoped she was wrong.

Taking a Breath, she said. "4. You three girls will each pick a room of your own. I will be living in the basement. I feel more comfortable underground."

Sonata looked at Medusa curiously. "We each get our own room? There's enough room for that?"

Medusa chuckled. "Oh indeed there is young one. You have a main living area, a Kitchenette/dining room, 1 Master Bedroom, and a garage. But you also have two rooms that your former guardian had used for storage. I will be sorting through all of the material in those rooms and disposing of it. I'll also be, over the next few weeks yanking all of the material out of that storage unit of a garage."

Medusa smiled at the surge in the hope in the eyes of the three sisters. "So, since there are three of you, I believe that gets each of you a bedroom of your own. A private safe space. One that only each of you alone will have the key too. I will not, unless you give me one. If you chose not to, that is fine. It is in no way mandatory. However, I do ask that you three not make me regret this decision."

Medusa's breath was torn from her as, to her surprise, Adagio spoke first. "We won't, Mother."

Adagio's words broke the unnoticed shackles of silence, as all three sirens rushed to the gorgon. Embracing Medusa and crying into her chest. Medusa, held them close and quietly waited till all three had calmed, mutely giving her blood oath that none shall harm those under her care ever again.

A knock, from the front door signaled the end of the moment, and reluctantly all three disengaged from their newfound parent. Medusa looked at each of them in turn and said.

"All three of you need to get cleaned up. It's the first day you three will be working at the Emporium, and I will not have any of you late. Chop, Chop" She ordered as her new daughters moved to get ready.

"Such good girls." Medusa remarked as she moved to get the door.

On the other side of the door stood a statuesqe woman of pitch black complexion and messy blue hair. Her dress clung to her in all the right place and encouraged all the wrong thought. She was hopelessly surprised when Medusa cold cocked her dead center of her pretty little face.

"Hello Chrysalis." Medusa snarked. "To what do I owe the pleasure of your duplicitous, admittedly good looking, ass."

Shaking herself, Chrysalis rose, "I admit I deserved that, but my hands were tied. The previous administration placed those girls here and turned them over to White Trash. To get them out would be to admit to the wrong doing of my predecessors. Which since my predecessors are now my bosses...." Chrysalis trailed off, her implication clear.

"Hmph, same everywhere I go. Well this is my place now, any that come to live with me must obey my rules and will be under my protection. No one will hurt these children a second time. I Will Not Allow It!" Medusa procalaimed, once more the guardian her name symbolizied."

"Well then I have one more for you. Her name is Wallflower Blush and she has been forgotten by her loved ones. She herself no longer remembers them. This house should have room enough for her."

Turning to her car, Chrysalis motioned for the green skinned girl in the passanger side to join them.

Medusa looked upon her newest daughter and smiled. "My name is Medusa, you will live here with my other girls. Go inside and find Adagio, ask her to find you a room. Listen to her when I am not around. She will look after you. Okay?"

Wallflower nodded, and moved past the much larger woman. Turning back she smiled, Medusa seemed nice, after the incident with the memory stone living here would be nice. With her new friends Sunset and Trixie, maybe school wouldn't be that bad. She made her way inside, not knowing how complicated her life was about to become.
