A loud thunder strike awoke the couple and their pets in their slumber. Usually the pegasi clear out the clouds, but today must have been mandatory for there to be rain. Fluttershy trembled at the loud noise and bright light that the lightning made outside her window. Pinkie held her close in her hooves.
"Awwww, Fluttershy don't be so scared. Your Pinkie Pie is here to protect you from that mean old lightning." The jolly pink pony assured her with a nuzzle to her neck.
The timid pegasus smiled slightly blushing. Even though she was a bit scared she was feeling much better after yesterday. The remedy really did the trick! She sighed returning the embrace her marefriend gave her.
"Oh, Pinkie you're the sweetest pony in all of Equestria." She said shyly with a peck to her lips.
The party pony smile gleefully hopping out of bed and helping her companion out as well. Pinkie noticed Fluttershy was looking a lot better then she was last night. "Come on Flutters! Let's fill up your belly with some breakfast!"
The pink pony bounced down the stairs as the yellow one gently flew down. Pinkie began making a very sugar filled breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes with maple syrup and whipped cream with sprinkles. It looked like a diabetic massacre. Fluttershy marveled at the dessert like breakfast, for she knew her marefriend was amazing at making sweets. She wonder where she got all the ingredients considering most of them she did not have. Probably hammerspace. The somewhat magical earth pony laid breakfast on the table for both of them and smiled.
“Okie doki loki! Pinkie's breakfast surprise!”
“Umm..Pinkie what's the surprise?” The timid pony asked.
“You'll see!” Pinkie laughed and snorted as lightning struck outside.
They both ate their pancakes happily. They were delicious! Pinkie just swallowed all of them while Fluttershy at a bit more cautiously. Eventually both ponies finished their meals. The party pony giggled as she watched the daisy yellow pegasus. The pegasus burped and out came a crackling randomly colored mess of small firecracker like streams that exploded in a very small perimeter. At first the fearful pegasus jumped in fright, but then noticed it was just a visual effect and nothing more. Fluttershy began to giggle as she watched Pinkie burp out the a different burst of firecracker. They both rolled close together on the floor laughing as they watched the fireworks the fly out of their mouths.
“This is so amazing Pinkie, I never knew you could do this with pancakes.” The pegasus giggled.
Pinkie giggles cheerfully as well. “I'm glad you like it! It's always a hit at morning parties!”
“Morning parties?” Fluttershy smiles looking into her marefriend's eyes. “Is there anytime you don't party?
The pink earth pony thought for a moment. “Well I don't party when I'm sleep..Oh! Unless I'm dreaming about partying! Those parties are so much fun, but I like the parties in real life more! I especially like the parties with you Flutters! They are just so super awesome!”
Fluttershy blushed shyly. She didn't think that she meant so much just being there at parties. In the past two months they lived together she didn't really interact much with the ponies she didn't know at parties. She mostly just followed Pinkie everywhere like a lost filly. She always enjoyed the parties though, because she got to see her marefriend so happy. The only time she was happier was when they spent time together. The loud sound of crackling thunder snapped her back into reality.
“Ah!” She jumped.
Pinkie giggled softly and held her close. “Awwww, don't worry Fluttershy. Pinkie will protect you from the mean old lightning!” She took a heroic pose and smiled.
Fluttershy giggled back at the light hearted and silly pony. “Oh Pinkie, with a strong mare like you I don't think anypony would pick on me.”
She smiles nuzzling her nose happily, this made Fluttershy blush heavily. “Why would anypony wanna pick on a cutie pie like you anyways? You're so sweet and kind and loving and amazing and you're the bestest pony ever!” Pinkie then kissed her softly, Fluttershy's wings fluttered softly as she returned the kiss. After a few moments they broke the kiss and laid on the couch.
The two looked outside at the rain. There wasn't as much to do inside the house. Even Fluttershy's animal friends mainly took care of themselves during the rain. She wanted to do something besides just lay together, because it wasn't like Pinkie to just lay down and do nothing. Then an idea hit her.
“Umm..Pinkie? Do you want to make a party together?” The shy pony said still blushing.
Pinkies face beamed with excitement. “That sounds like the most super idea ever! It be so much fun making a party with you! I bet you'd make so many pretty flora decorations Fluttershy! I can only imagine!”
Pinkie was far beyond excited. Now Pinkie loved making parties all on her own, but she loved having people help her, but she never would have guessed her special somepony would want to help her. There was noponyelse she would rather make a party with then her! Even the fact she suggested it made her shiver in sugarcoated joy. She kissed Fluttershy all over her face and bounced happily! The pegasus smiled at her partners overwhelming joy. She was happy to see such a radiant smile on her marefriend's face. Fluttershy got off the couch to join her.
“Alright!” Pinkie stood on two hooves wrapping one hoof around Fluttershy's neck and pointing at the room with a grin. “We gotta decorate the hay out of this place!”
“We sure are. Lets get started.” Fluttershy smiled.
Pinkie just nodded and hopped to it throwing streamers and confetti everywhere. If she ever needed more she could just sneeze. Fluttershy dug up so artificial flowers of all sorts of colors that Rarity made for her, some were even dusted with gem dust. She smiled as she remembered her friend. Gummy and Angel were also helping. Gummy pushing boxes of party supplies with his nose and Angel was helping decorate the room with flowers.
“Hey Flutters! I got an idea to spice up the decorations!” Pinkie had a smile from ear to ear. She rolled out her party cannon.
“Oh, what are you going to do with that?” the yellow pegasus smiled, but was a little worried. Firing a cannon indoors wasn't exactly safe.
She loaded the cannon with a lot of colorful flower petals and glitter. “Fire!” She fired the cannon, blasting countless glittering petals all over the room. The pegasus had never seen her house in a way such as this. All of the color and its shine made her eyes sparkle in delight. She trotted around the room looking at the décor and approached her cotton candy maned marefriend.
“P-pinkie, I've never seen anything like it.” She gazed at the sight then at Pinkie who smiled.
“Awww! It was nothing Fluttershy, I just had an idea and wanted to try it out. But I’m really happy you liked it!” The party pony bounced in place the expression of joy never leaving her face. “There's just one last thing before we can make food! The banner!”
Pinkie dropped a banner at Fluttershy's hooves. It read Happy Thunderstorm Day! The meek pony smiled at the silly title flying up putting up the banner on the right side of the frame while Pinkie put the banner up on the left side of the frame, she was standing on a ladder. After that the decorations were finished. The excitable mare jumped into the kitchen and started making massive amounts of food that would be too much for any normal pony to eat. It was like she had six front hooves! She was making pie, cupcakes, and normal cake all at once! Fluttershy giggled as she watched her special somepony unleash her cooking prowess upon the delicious foods. The kitchen area then exploded in a pink cloud of sprinkles as Pinkie hopped out laying most of the of the food on the table except for two cupcakes for Gummy and Angel. She also made punch, non-alcoholic didn't want Fluttershy to get sick again. Gummy ate his instinctively while Angel just eyed the sugar filled creation of diabetic proportions. To consume such a creation would cause an endless sugary battle within himself, or it could just be delicious. He took a light lick at the frosting before becoming completely consumed by its sugary goodness with the hunger to devour it whole, which he did. The shy pegasus was smiling as she watched her bunny. She was glad even he was having fun. She had to admit she was a bit scared that he might have gotten jealous or not liked Pinkie when she first moved in.
“Alright! Its party time!” Pinkie cheered.
Pinkie was very happy with the décor and everything! She had never made a party with Fluttershy and she couldn't have it imagined it turning out the way it did! Petals of multiple colors with glitter covered the floor like a light blanket, the decoration of silk flowers added a more eternal touch of beauty to the home. The food looked scrumptious as ever and the banner though very silly was the final touch needed. It may have not been her most over the top party, but it was still something this pony was beyond proud of. She went up to the yellow pegasus and kissed her right on the cheek. They both blushed and smiled.
“Thank you so much for making this possible Fluttershy! Your the bestest pony in all of Equestria!” The party pony cheered excited about the party they had created.
Fluttershy blushed a bit more. “Thanks Pinkie, but I couldn't have done it without you.” She smiled.
The couple and their animal friends enjoyed the party. Fluttershy didn't eat much but she enjoyed herself more than she usually did. It was just usually at the other parties it wasn't just her and Pinkie. Being very shy, she hesitated to interact with anyponyelse. The partied most of the day away. There was still light outside when they finished. The rain settled and the sun was still out. Both ponies noticed it. Fluttershy looked at her marefriend with a smile.
“We can invite more ponies to party now.” She smiled.
The 4th dimensional mare shook her head. “Not today, I just want to enjoy this party with my special somepony.”
Fluttershy blushed and smiled. She wasn't going to hide the fact that this made her happy. She liked having friends over every once in a while, but today she just wanted her sugar filled lover.
“I’m so glad.” Fluttershy smiled.
“Really? Why'd you ask to invite other ponies then, silly.” the pink earth pony giggled.
“Well, I want you to be happy too. I know how much you like to party with a lot of other ponies and I'm not exactly a party pony.” The yellow pegasus responded.
“Well I do, but you're more than enough party for me! As a matter of fact ummm..I want to have parties with just you more often. I mean, if that’s ok with you.” For once the party pony was on the shy side.
It was so different for her. She loved partying with so many ponies, but Fluttershy was special in this case. She knew she loved Fluttershy, but she was still discovering the effects of her love for her. She never had this much fun at even some of her largest parties. To think that it was this meek pegasus that brought out the shy in the normally over energized and social pink pony. She was even playing with her hooves a little nervous of her marefriend's answer.
Fluttershy just smiled and aerial tackled her to the floor with great joy. “Of course, that just sounds so wonderful Pinkie!” She cheered happily, kind of like Pinkie Pie. All thoughts were dismissed as the normally shy pony brought Pinkie in for a deep kiss. The party mares face blushed red as her eyes began to close returning the passionate kiss shocked by the action. Eventually Fluttershy broke the kiss with a matching blush. Pinkie smiled as she looked up at her blushing marefriend.
The cotton candy maned pony giggled. “And I thought I was the Alpha mare.”
The two giggled as Fluttershy laid next to her partner and cuddled her.
“I don't know what came over me Pinkie. I'm sorry.” She looked into the her lovers eyes.
Pinkie just giggled. “Trust me Flutters that is definitely something you don't have to apologize for. I love kissing you! You know that silly filly.”
She blushed rubbing her face with one hoof. “I-I know, but it was so sudden. You just make me so happy that I couldn't control myself.”
“Awwwwww! Your Auntie Pinkie's rubbing off on ya!” the 4th dimensional pony grinned.
“I'm a year older than you.” She gave the party mare a stern look before they both bursted out in laughter.
The two looked off to see their two pets. Angel was practically passed out from the sugar crash. While Gummy was just blankly staring. The Alligator almost never slept just stared. Nopony was ever sure what exactly he was staring at. Was he staring into time trying to learn what would end everything as we know it and his actions were merely ways to prevent it? Nopony knew. The couple giggled as they watched their pets then gazed into each others eyes.
“Pinkie, I don’t think I have ever been happier then I am with you.” the pegasus smiled holding her marefriend close in a tight embrace.
“Mean either, out of all of everything I've ever done. Being with you is the best!” She responded nuzzling her nose.
Fluttershy yawned. She was getting tired from all the partying. It was much more activity then she was normally used to. Sure she took care of animals, but a party where you're getting all of Pinkies attention can really drain a mare.
“Aww, are you tired? Wanna go to bed?” Pinkie asked smiling.
“Yes..but I don't want to let go of you.” the coy pony returned the smile.
The party mare blushed again, but with a smile. She thought is was just the cutest thing. “Awwwww! Then lets sleep here! The floor's so much more comfortable when you have somepony to snuggle.”
“I’m so glad I don't have to move. I love being so close to you.” Her eyelids were getting heavy as she look a her wonderful companion. “I love you Pinkamena Diane Pie, goodnight.” She dozed off to sleep after that leaving her lover blushing brightly at the sound of her full name. “Goodnight Fluttershy, I love you too.”
Both ponies fell asleep cuddled next to each other with smiles painted on their faces awaiting the next day as they dreamed.
