//------------------------------// // A Poetic Flirt // Story: The Drake Bros. // by BrawnyBold //------------------------------// The students of CHS were enjoying each others' company while having lunch in the cafeteria. The Mane Six were in their usual table while talking among themselves. Scales was also in the table but he stayed silent for the time being. It wasn't till Rainbow noticed Spike approaching them. "Yo, Spike!" Rainbow hollered to Spike as he turned and made his way to the others. "Hey girls, hey Scales!" Spike said as he reached the group's table. "How was your English II class?" Twilight asked. "I bet you guys started reading Frankenstein! That book is such a classic!" some of the girls groaned from Twilight's enthusiasm for books. "Not really," Spike replied. "but I did meet this really cool guy and we started hanging out with each other." Spike then waved to get someone's attention. The person approaching was a light-brown haired boy. There was a pair of black sunglasses over his eyes and he wore a blue t-shirt with a pair of matching blue jeans. He almost looked like one of those teen pop-stars seen on magazines. "Guys, meet my new friend: Feather Bangs!" Spike said as Feather Bangs flipped his hair to make his bangs move swiftly. "S'up girls, it's nice to meet you all." Feather said in a flirty manner. Any teenage girl would probably be swooned by that first impression, but the Mane Six didn't feel attracted at all. Rather, they felt grossed out from such a cheesy line. "Hello...Feather," Twilight said while trying to sound polite, "it's nice to meet you." "The pleasure is all mine! Especially with lovely girls such as yourselves." Feather Bangs said while he brushed his hair. Twilight gagged in the inside from what Feather said. "So...Spike," Rarity said to decrease some uncertainties, "how did you meet Mr. Feather Bangs?" "We were in English II together and he was really impressive with speaking poetry." Spike replied. "He mentioned that his inspiration came from Sapphire Shores and I told him I liked Sapphire Shores." "Sapphire Shores just knows how to bring out the inner poet in me, you know?" Feather Bangs said. "Feather also said he likes Power Ponies and circus tricks which are also my favorite hobbies!" Spike said. "That was when I realized that he and I were gonna me best friends!" "Amen, brother!" Feather said as he and Spike fist bumped each other. "Oh, I almost forgot! Feather, meet Scales, my older brother!" Spike said. "S'up," Scales said in a monotone. "Um...hey," Feather said with an awkward grin. "Well, I better get some lunch. Be right back!" Spike said as he made his way to the lunch line. Once Spike was away, Feather scooted his chair closer to the Mane Six. "So," Feather said in a curious tone. "are you girls single?" "I beg your pardon?" Rarity asked. "All six of you girls are so beautiful that any boy would be lucky enough to date any one of you." Feather replied. "You must have at least considered dating one or two boys to see if they were compatible or not." "Sorry to break it to you Feathers," Rainbow said bluntly. "but we're not into the dating industry right now." Feather blinked while processing what Rainbow said. "Oh? Why's that?" Feather asked curiously. "You seem like a good gentlemen, Feather Bangs." Rarity said first. "It's just that you're not our type." The girls nodded in agreement. "Oh, then what kind of boys are you into?" Feather asked. Before the girls could give a response, Spike came back with a tray of food. "Hey guys!" Spike said as he sat next to Feather Bangs. "Did I miss anything?" "Not at all!" the Mane Six said at once, before they laughed awkwardly. Feather looked at Spike and then the girls before he thought of a possibility on why the Mane Six don't want to date. School ended for the day and everyone went home or to club activities. Spike and Scales made their way back home until they heard the sound of footsteps approaching. "Yo, Spike!" Feather cried as he caught up to the brothers. "Hey Feather, what's up?" Spike said. "Is it alright that we hang out for a bit?" Feather asked. "Sure!" Spike smiled. "That will be great!" Spike then turned to Scales. "Want to come with us, Scales?" Spike asked his brother. "Nah, I'm good." Scales said as he rubbed Spike's hair. "Try not to get in too much trouble, you hear?" As Scales made his way home, Spike and Feather Bangs went to Sugarcube Corner to get some smoothies. As they got their seats, they chatted among themselves about topics like the latest music or which superhero were they favorite. "Hey Spike, can I ask you something?" Feather asked. "What's up?" Spike asked as well. "How are you such a great friend with the girls?" Feather said. "What?" Spike said with confusion. "It's just that you are always seen with those six girls and they are buddy-buddy with you. I wish I had more girls like them to talk to." Feather then gave Spike some puppy dog eyes. "If you want, I can let you talk to my friends more if you want to." Spike said. "That will be great! Thanks, Spike!" Feather cheered as he gave his friend a hug. Spike also returned the hug as it felt nice to be hugged by a friend. Twilight was in her chemistry class and her class was in a middle of a lab assignment. As Twilight carefully poured in certain chemicals into one beaker, she noticed that a certain Feather Bangs was standing next to her with a flirty look. "Umm...can I help you, Feather?" Twilight asked. "No, I just have this feeling that you and I could possibly have good chemistry." Feather then winked which made Twilight felt really uncomfortable from Feather's presence. "Hey Feathers," Twilight said. "is it alright that you stand a little further away? You're disturbing my concentration." "Oh, no problem." Feather said as he moved a little farther from Twilight. Despite Twilight still noticing Feather looking at her, she continued to work on her lab assignment. Rainbow and her classmates started their gym class by jogging laps around the field. As Rainbow kept on going, Feather caught with her while jogging. She noticed that Feather was also giving her a flirty look as if he wants something...or someone. "Can I help you, Feather?" Rainbow said while she panted from the jogging. "Oh nothing," Feather replied. "even though you are sweating and exhausted, I still think you're cute!" Feather smiled. That line made Rainbow almost gag and shutter. 'This guy is WAY worse than Zephyr Breeze!' Before Rainbow's agony went any longer, a whistle blew! "Keep up the pace Feather Bangs! No time to for flirting!" Spitfire yelled. Feather panicked and hurried with the running. Rainbow sighed in relief for Feather not there anymore. 'For once, I appreciate Coach's demands.' Rainbow thought before she continued to jog across the field with the rest of her class. It wasn't long till Feather attempted to swoon the rest of the Mane Six with his pretty boy act. During Feather's wood ship class, Feather told Applejack how much he loves a strong girl at work. Somehow, it made Applejack a bit ticked off despite Feather's compliment. Fluttershy was also in the same class and Applejack made sure Feather didn't make any attempts to the shy girl. Pinkie Pie didn't have a good time in her art class as Feather painted a portrait of her. She kept making grossed out faces to show how unpleasant it was. Rarity's home economics class was also unpleasant as Feather kept offering her a handmade handkerchief whenever she sneezed. Lunchtime had arrived and the Mane Six were exhausted from the day they had. Spike noticed the girls' slump once he and Scales arrived to the table. "Are you girls alright?" Spike asked. "You look tired." "What do you think?" Rainbow said sarcastically. "A certain pretty boy tried to flirt with us while in our classes." Spike tilted his head in confusion. "Who are you talking about?" Spike asked. "Who do you think," Rainbow replied. "that new friend of yours." "Feather Bangs?" Spike said in disbelief. "He was probably just expressing himself as a friend." "Oh yeah," Applejack said sarcastically. "he wanted to be real 'friendly' alright." "S'up Spike," Feather said before he noticed the girls. "and hello girls!" Feather flipped his hair again to attract some attention. "That's it!" Rainbow said as she and Applejack got up to lift Feather's arms and carry him out of the cafeteria. Before long, the rest of the girls got up and followed in pursuit. "We're just gonna make sure they don't beat him up." Twilight said to Spike before she left the cafeteria. After that, it was just Spike and Scales standing near the empty table. "What just happened?" Spike asked his brother. "Who knows," Scales replied. "let's hope that blood won't be involved." Once the girls made it to the hallways, they surrounded Feather as if it were an intervention circle. "Come on girls," Feather said. "You all don't have to fight for my affection." "Excuse me?" Twilight asked. "I like all of you girls in equal ways." Feather replied before Rainbow stood very close in front of Feather as if she was a drill sergeant. "Cut it with the flirting!" Rainbow barked. "What's with you anyway?" "Lately you have been trying to make moves on us and we're sick of it!" Applejack complained. "What do you mean?" Feather asked in confusion. "Look Feather," Twilight said. "I know you're trying to attract us but there is such a thing as trying too much." Feather looked down with shame. "I...I'm sorry," Feather said. "I just thought that if I made more attempts, you girls could've at least considered me." "Why?" Rarity asked. "As I recall, there were other girls who gave flirty looks to you." As if on cue, a particular group of three girls gave Feather some winks and waved at him. Feather just froze and laughed nervously. "Yeah, but it's not the same!" Feather replied. The Mane Six looked at Feather with confusion. "Excuse me?" Rarity asked. "I prefer to do the flirting but being flirted back, that feels so weird and scary to me." Feather admitted. "Let me guess," Pinkie replied. "you prefer to hunt than to be hunted." The girls and Feather gave awkward stares from Pinkie's words. "Well, something like that." Feather replied. "Oh, sweetie." Rarity replied. "There's nothing wrong with accepting those girls' feelings, it just shows you don't need to flirt with anyone that often." "You really think so?" Feather smiled. "Totally!" Pinkie assured. "I would think you're pretty cute. Unfortunately, our hearts belong to someone else." "Pinkie!" The girls yelled at once. Feather didn't take long to understand that Pinkie was referring to a particular boy with spiky, green hair. Rarity coughed to change the topic. "If you want, we can help you out with returning those girls feelings." Rarity assured. "We are?" Rainbow said bluntly. Rarity then gave Rainbow a glare before turning back to Feather. "As long as we can start over as friends." Rarity offered her hand. Feather smiled as he felt hopeful of the future. "That will be great!" Feather said as he shook hands with Rarity. The girls and Feather returned to their table to see Spike and Scales talking to a musclebound boy with straw yellow hair covered with a winged white cap. "Hey guys!" Spike said. "I was a bit worried when you all left." "It's alright, Spike." Feather assured. "The girls and I were able to make up." "Cool!" Spike said. "Then I want you to meet this cool guy Scales and I just met. His name is Bulk Biceps!" "Yeah!" Bulk hollered before he went to give Feather a strong hug. "It's so great to make new friends!" Feather choked to death from Bulk's friendly grip. The girls laughed a bit from Spike's new friends.
