The halls of Canterlot High were covered with Halloween decorations as Halloween was right around the corner. It also means that the annual Canterlot High Halloween dance was also coming up and everyone seems to be excited to dress up and party.
"Ohh! I can't wait till Halloween!" Pinkie cheered while walking with the rest of the group. "The costumes, the candy, and all of the sugary treats!" Pinkie licked her lips.
"Same here, sister!" Spike replied. "I especially like Halloween because my brother and I always come up with the best costumes!"
"The trick was that we dress up as dynamic duos." Scales said. "We dressed up as the Super Mario Bros., the Blues Brothers, and Batman and Robin."
"Sounds like a lot of fun!" Rainbow said.
"My brother and I used to dress up as a pair." Twilight said before she developed a sad expression. "Too bad he is in college."
"It's alright, sugarcube." Applejack placed an arm around Twilight. "Now you got seven other friends to spend Halloween with."
"Yeah, I guess you're right." Twilight smiled.
"So what are you boys going to dress up as?" Rarity asked. "If you need assistance with some costumes, I can offer you some help."
"I thought you would be busy with costume requests since Halloween is coming up." Rainbow claimed.
"Yes, but I'm willing to commit some time for my friends." Rarity responded.
"We're not quite sure yet," Spike said. "but Scales and I will come up with something." The group went on with their day in classes.
On one day before Halloween arrived, the Mane Six were enjoying some drinks at Sugarcube Corner.
"So, did you guys find the costumes you will wear for tomorrow?" Twilight asked the others.
"Heck yeah! I'm going in as a pirate!" Rainbow said as she closed one eye and made her hand into a hook. "Argh ye mighties!"
"I'm dressing up as the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz." Applejack said.
"Just like when you dressed up as the scarecrow last year and the cowardly lion from the year before that?" Rarity asked.
"Y'up," Applejack replied.
"I found this adorable puppy costume that will work well." Fluttershy said.
"I'm dressing up as a mermaid!" Pinkie said. "I just love the big fish tail that helps you swim!"
"I'll be going in as Shadow Spade. I just love the outfits from the mystery novels." Rarity said.
"Wonder what the boys are dressing up as." Rainbow said curiously.
"Scales did say that he and Spike always dress up as a pair." Applejack mentioned.
"Maybe something like a pair of wolves." Pinkie said before she howled. "Some wolves may look fierce, but some of them actually look adorable, like Spike!"
'True for that' the rest of the girls thought at once.
"Whatever their costume is, we'll still have a good time at the Halloween dance." Twilight said. The girls nodded in agreement. The girls suddenly heard ringing from their phones. They took out their phones to see that Spike sent them a message.
"What did the little runt send us?" Rainbow asked the others. They opened their messages to reveal Spike in a Roger Rabbit costume with red overall shorts, big yellow gloves, and a hood with bunny ears sewed on top. The entire outfit made Spike look like a toddler than a rabbit. Each of the Mane Six had a deep red blush as they saw the way Spike was dressed in that outfit.
'So cute!' The girls thought all at once. There was silence around the girls before Rainbow got up.
"I..er..got some last minute errands to do before the dance!" Rainbow said before she dashed out of Sugarcube Corner.
"I just remembered...I got farm chores to do!" Applejack said before she too left in a hurry. It wasn't long till the rest of the girls came up with excuses and went on their way back to their homes.
Halloween night finally arrived and the CHS students made their way into the gymnasium where the Halloween dance is taking place. Almost all of the students and teachers wore various costumes for the Halloween occasion. Twilight arrived to the entrance of the gym. She dressed up as Jessica Rabbit with a long red dress with purple, glittering gloves. Her hair was combed down with some of it covering one of her eyes. Twilight even wore red lipstick to match the entire outfit.
"Twilight?" Pinkie said from behind. Twilight turned to see that Pinkie also dressed up as Jessica Rabbit, except for the hair as it was still a bit puffy.
"Pinkie?" Twilight said in confusion. "Wh-why are you wearing-"
"Sweet!" Pinkie interrupted with a hug. "Now we'll match at the dance!" It wasn't long till Twilight and Pinkie saw Fluttershy approach them as she too dressed up as Jessica Rabbit.
"Oh dear," Fluttershy whimpered as Twilight and Pinkie stared at her with awkward looks.
"What in tarnation!" Applejack yelled from the distance. The rest of the group saw that not only Applejack dressed up as Jessica Rabbit but Rainbow too!
"Why are you dressed up as Jessica Rabbit?!" Rainbow said angrily.
"I should say the same for you! I thought Jessica Rabbit was too girly for you!" Applejack replied. Before Applejack and Rainbow's argument went further, Pinkie interrupted them.
"Ahem!" Pinkie coughed to get the attention of the bickering girls. Rainbow and Applejack turned to see the rest of the girls dressed up as Jessica Rabbit. They were completely silent as each of the girls processed what was happening.
"I can't believe this!" Rarity said as she approached the rest of the girls. They saw that Rarity also dressed up as Jessica Rabbit except for the angry expression on her face. "I thought we had already chosen our costumes for tonight!"
"What about you, Rarity?" Rainbow claimed in a sassy tone. "As I recall, Shadow Spade didn't dress up like Jessica Rabbit." Rarity tried her best to come up with an excuse.
"Well, I thought it would be nice to match with Spike as I thought his costume was impressive." Rarity tried to defend herself.
"Guess we all had the same idea." Twilight said bluntly.
"Well, one of us has to go change." Rarity demanded.
"It's not like we carry spare costumes like you do, Rarity!" Applejack huffed.
"I have you know I carry a spare costume in case if I get this one dirty!" Rarity replied.
"Fine," Rainbow held out her hand. "I'll go get changed, what kind of costume is it?"
Rarity bit her lips before she answered. "It's another Jessica Rabbit costume." It was then, the girls were bickering with one another about who should get changed.
"Hey girls!" Spike said as he and Scales approached the girls. The girls stopped to see Spike in his Roger Rabbit costume just like in the text. Scales was following from behind and he dressed up as Detective Eddie Valiant with a long trench coat, a tie, and a fedora. The brothers stopped in their tracks to see that the girls were all Jessica Rabbits.
"Whoa! You guys look beautiful!" Spike said with a smile.
"Why thank you, Spikey-wikey!" Rarity said as she fluffed her hair to show off.
"I'm quite surprised you guys agreed to dress up the same." Scales said to the girls.
'Quite surprised alright.' the girls thought at once.
"I really like your costume, Spike!" Pinkie said.
"Thanks!" Spike replied. "I even added a cute bunny tail to the back!" Spike turned around to show the girls a small white ball of fluff was attached to where his butt was. Fluttershy blushed and covered her face from such embarrassment. Pinkie smiled with her mouth opened, thinking that the tail was the best part. Twilight also blushed with a twitchy eye. Applejack and Rainbow couldn't help but blushed and hold back giggles.
'Oh my!' Rarity said with a blush as she fanned her face with her hand.
"Well," Spike said as he turned around. "let's go party!" Spike and Scales made their way inside, leaving the girls in an awkward silence. It wasn't long till Twilight sighed to break the ice.
"Look, I know that this looks weird right now. But we got to remember that this is the Drake brothers' first dance at CHS. Let's not ruin it just because of some bad costume choices." The girls thought about it before they hugged each other. The Mane Six joined Spike and Scales at the dance floor to have the time of their lives. There were some occasions where the students were staring at the six matching Jessica Rabbits. Most of the girls were enjoying the view of Spike in his rabbit costume, especially at his white cotton ball tail.
The Mane Six and the brothers went to take some pictures at the photo booth, which was run by Photo Finish. She was dressed up as a disco diva with a long sparkling dress and long white boots.
"Wait!" Photo Finish said which stopped the group. "I just came up with the perfect ideas for 'the magic'!" Photo Finish snapped her finger and one of her assistances took Spike and Twilight to the front of the camera.
"Perfect! Now act like a cute couple like de real Rabbits!" Photo Finish demanded. Spike and Twilight held each other just like Photo Finish demanded. Twilight was especially nervous as this was the first time she was this close to Spike. After a few camera flashes, one of Photo Finish's assistance took Twilight out of the picture and replaced her with Applejack.
"Now do what you did from de last time!" Photo said before she took pictures. It wasn't long till each of the girls had a turn taking pictures with Spike. For one last photo, Photo Finish had the girls together with Scales and Spike standing at the center.
"Enough!" Photo Finish yelled. "You go! Photos are complete!" The group took the photos and made their way out of the photo booth. The dance went on until the music died down and Principal Celestia approached the stage. She dressed up as the fairy godmother from Cinderella.
"Hello everyone! Are you having a good time?" Everyone in the gym cheered as a reply. "That's good to know! Now it's time to count up votes for best costumes for this year's Halloween dance!" Everyone cheered from the announcement.
"Now, the awards are depended on these categories: most hilarious, most popular, etc.. Let's begin!" Celestia began reading the ballots that were given to her by Vice Principal Luna, who dressed up as a witch. The names were given out till one award caught the group's attention.
"And the final award for most popular costume goes to...a tie between Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rarity, and Fluttershy!" The spotlight showed the Mane Six as they smiled and waved while receiving applauses.
"Give them a hand for showing their friendship by wearing matching costumes! Carry on with for the rest of the night!" Celestia said as she left the stage, leaving everyone to continue to dance the night away.
