Spike gave a mighty huff as he pushed on the tree.
"Spike that's not how Applebucking works." Applejack called as she watched him shove against the tree with his shoulder. "You're supposed to kick the trees not tackle 'em." Applejack sat back and watched in silence as Spike took a step back and tried kicking the tree, this resulted in a stubbed toe and several Apple's nocking him over the head.
"How do you do this!?" Spike demanded as he hopped around on one foot while holding the other and rubbing his head.
"I don't have toes." She responded with a shrug "Try getting on all fours and kicking it with the bottom of your foot." Applejack watched as Spike placed the bottom of his foot on the tree, then laughed as he furiously tapped his foot against the tree. "I said get on all four!" She laughed with a shake of her head, "here watch me again." Spike watched as Applejack began apple-bucking. Spike watched for a while before She came back to him. "Like so." Spike opened his mouth to say something when he felt something rising in his stomach. "You alright there sugar cube?" She asked as his mouth snapped shut. "You look like your about to..." Spike took a deep breath and spat out a small torrent of fire that swirled into a neatly rolled note, Applejack stared at him in silence. "Spike I don't understand how your body works." She said in bemusement as Spike opened the letter and read it.
"Hello, Spike, ya-da-ya-da, week off...coming to ponyville...Lunch...with love..." Spike's face lit up with Delight as he looked at Applejack. "I'm sorry we'll have to reschedule this, My Pen pal is coming over for Lunch!"
"You have a Pen pal?"
"Yeah, I met her the first time I went mega Dragon Crazy!" Before Applejack could respond to that Spike rocked off with Balloon power.
"I have so many questions." She said to the empty Apple orchard. Meanwhile, Spike was going full speed back to Sugar Cube corner, Landing with a thump he rolled forward and ended up on his feet as he unlocked the front door, They were closed today so it was mostly empty, the only exception being Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie having lunch." The Two looked up at him as he relocked the front door,
"Oh hey, Spike." Rainbow said with a wave "I thought you where helping AJ in the Orchard today."
"I had to cancel, I'm having a guest over for Lunch!" Spike said happily as he handed Pinkie the note to read."
"We'll have fun with that," Rainbow said as she finished up her sandwich "I've got work not to do."
"And I've got three Party's scheduled for today" Pinkie added as she got up, " say hi to Spitfire for me tho." Rainbow froze in place.
"Spitfire?" She asked in disbelief,
"Yeah, She's coming over for..." Spike started when Rainbow jumped up and shook him by his shoulders in excitement.
"The Captain of The Wonderbolts!?"
"Well she wasn't the Captain when we first met but yeah she's the Captain, I was at the Ceremony when she was given the..."
"You've known the Captain of the Wonderbolts since before she became Captain...AND NEVER TOLD ME!?" Rainbow Dash interrupted in disbelief, still shaking Spike.
"I Didn't know you were a fan of the Wonderbolts," Spike responded as he was shaken.
"SPIKE I WANT TO BE A WONDERBOLT!" Rainbow Dash shouted back "HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW THIS!?"
"NO PONY EVER TOLD ME!" Spike responded breaking free from Rainbow Dashes grasp "ESPECIALLY NOT YOU!" Rainbow Dash shook her head in disbelief.
"All this time I've known somepony, or dragon I guess, who could have gotten me an in with the Wonderbolts. Pinkie watched this in silence until something popped into her head.
"Hey, Spike...aren't you in the Wonderbolt emergency reserve team?" Rainbow Dash fell on her face.
"YOU A WONDERBOLT!" She Demanded in shock.
"ONLY IF LIKE EVERY OTHER WONDERBOLT IS UNAVAILABLE!" Spike responded, "I ONLY PUT MY SUIT ON LIKE ONCE! I DON'T EVEN HAVE IT, LIMESTONE DOES!" Rainbow sat on the floor in silence.
"How!? You don't even have wings!" Spike looked at her in silence "Yeah, the Balloon thing, right." Rainbow Dash got to her Hooves took a deep breath then turned to him when a knock sounded on the door, Rainbow looked over in awe at Spitfire knocking at the door. "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh! It's her!" Rainbow Dash sat down in silence as Spike spun to the door and unlocked it.
"Spike!" Spitfire said as she hugged the Dragon "How long's it been?"
"9 months I think." Spike responded as he hugged her back "We accidentally ran into each other in Canterlot!"
"Oh yeah!" Spitfire said as they broke apart "We both ran into each other at the grand opening of the same restaurant..."
"...and when we got there and tried the food..." Spike continued happily before they said in unison.
"...It tasted so bad we had to leave and buy fast food!" They laughed merrily as Rainbow Dash watched the conversation in shock and awe as Spike waved goodbye and the two walked out the door, Pinkie looked at Rainbow in silence for a moment before waving a Hoof in front of her face. Rainbow dash blinked then face hooved.
"I was so unprepared I froze up!" She cursed herself before getting up "I have to go introduce myself!"
"Whoa!" Pinkie said, standing in front of Rainbow "Dashie, Spike and Spitfire haven't intentionally gotten together in like 2 years, Don't mess with the mood!" Pinkie sighed as she sat down and put her arm around Rainbow's neck "Listen, every time they get together it's either on accident or it's ruined because Wonderbolt wanna be's mess thing's up! Back before she became Captain she and Spike visited each other every other week! and now they write to each other once a month! I'm sorry Dashie but I am not letting you..." There was a Ding and Pinkie blinked, Rainbow Dash as snuck around her during her lecture and put a chain where she had been sitting. "Rainbow Dash no!" Pinkie said running after her "Don't interrupt their intimate Get together!" Pinkie ran out the door, did a 360 as she turned to lock the door, then did another 360 and rocketed off after Rainbow full speed, tackling her out of the air.
"What the!? How'd you catch me!"
"Me and Spike can run really fast when provoked!" Pinkie responded and she pinned her friend down "Now Listen Dashie, if you interrupt their Day out together, I'm not only gonna be disappointed in you! But Spike will never forgive you!"
"Pinkie come on when else am I going to get a chance to talk to THE CAPTAIN..."
"Dashie Spike can send her a letter of recommendation for you tomorrow!"
"But that'll take 7 month's to get processed!" Rainbow Dash complained.
"Dashie you're making me late for my Party's Look me in the eye, and Pinkie Promis me you won't mess up their day, Or I'm just gonna sit on you all day!"
"Oh for the love of...FINE! I Cross my Heart and hope to Fly Stick a cupcake in my eye, I won't interrupt their day together." Rainbow grumbled angrily as Pinkie jumped off her.
"Thank you Dashie!" Pinkie said, "See you later, I'm late!" With that Pinkie disappeared in a puff of smoke. Rainbow Dash sighed as she flew up into the air and lay down on a cloud,
"Oh well, 7 month's of waiting it is then." She sighed as she moved her cloud "I may not be able to interrupt them, But I can still spy on them." With that Rainbow flew off with her cloud cover to go do just that.
