Feeling Cooler

by Storm Shine

A new base.. And an old Cooler.

I sighed slightly as the fire subsided, idly flicking a small flame from my shoulder. "How annoying.." I said, looking up at the dragon. "Let me show you just what you're dealing with here."

I probably seemed to blur slightly as I moved quickly, practically appearing next to the dragon, twisting to send a kick to its back. The dragon was sent flying out of the cave from the force of it and I quickly followed, grabbing its tail to swing the large creature and throw it to the ground. I floated gently to the ground after it, landing just after it managed to stand up. "Care to test my patience further?" I asked, narrowing my eyes at the dragon.

The dragon snarled and tried to fly at me, breathing fire. I sent a very weak ki blast at its open mouth, knocking it back and likely removing a few teeth. The draconic creature glared at me as my tail lashed around in agitation, occasionally carving furrows into the ground behind me. It turned and limped away, likely recognizing a losing battle as it softly growled to itself. I turned and floated back up to the cave. "Sir, are you sure you should leave that creature alive?" Salza asked, watching the creature as it struggled to leave. "It could attempt to come back with reinforcements."

"If it comes back with more, we will just eradicate them!" Raditz boasted, likely hoping that it would turn out that way.

I put a hand over my face in annoyance, "This is my life now.." I mumbled. Raising my voice, I addressed them all. "Don't worry about the creature, It is hardly a threat, even if there are more." I instructed "I want you all to go out and scout the planet for Neiz. Keep an eye on the locals, but don't engage them right now. Report back to me with Neiz and anything you can learn about the natives within two days of this planets time."

"Yes Sir!" Salza and Dore exclaimed, blasting away. Raditz, meanwhile, simply muttered things under his breath as he flew off.

Once they were gone I took a seat and breathed deeply, trying to relax. "Not even a full day with them here and I already want to kill one of them." I said to myself softly. As I relaxed further, I began feeling things.. Power levels, perhaps. Energy at the very least. I got a sense of what things were and how strong they were.

I could feel the dragon I had beaten, a vaguely fiery energy but dull and weak. many similar energies could be felt in the surroundings, most of them in the opposite direction the dragon was limping.

Stretching further, I could feel the ponies- a happier, almost carefree energy. Most felt weaker than the dragons, but I could feel a few rare signatures that seemed above the dragon's average.. and two, no.. three energy signatures that felt extremely strong. One felt like the sun, fiery and blazing hot, but with gently soothing undertones. Another, close to it, felt like the moon or the night. Calm, bright yet darkly shaded, and dangerous. And finally.. The last one almost felt like... That purple pony. A sense of craving for books and knowledge, with an undertone of mania.

There were other energy signatures I couldn't identify, some felt almost like birds and cats, some felt.. unstable, somehow. And I could've sworn I felt an energy signature that felt.. wrong. So many different feelings, it gave me a headache. It was faded too, like it wasn't as strong as it should be.

I rubbed my head, standing up. "As cool as that is, I think that's enough of that.." I said to myself, annoyed with the headache. I moved further into the cave, deciding to take a small nap.

"Weak." A voice sneered at me with disgust.

I opened my eyes and looked around, there's nobody here except.. me? I see Cooler, but aren't I Cooler now?

"Hardly." The Cooler standing in front of me stated coldly, "You may have my form, but you are nothing like me."

"What?" I stood up, "This is some freaky dream shit, right?"

Cooler palmed his face, "Really, this is what I have to deal with? Is this my punishment?" He sighed, "This is your mind. I died and somehow you ended up with my mended body."

"That.. doesn't make sense. And why does my mind just look like the area I'm in? Shouldn't it look like home, or somewhere I'm comfortable with at least?"

"Just shut up. I can't pass on until I feel like you're someone worthy of inhabiting my body." Cooler explained, "So I'm going to train you in your mind every time you fall asleep until I feel like you're ready to go toe to toe with the universe's strongest."

"Really? That's AWESO-OOFF!" I was cut off mid-exclamation as a fist buried itself into my gut, sending me flying out of the cave and skidding across the landscape. "Owww... If this is my mind, why can I feel pain..?"

"Training starts now."
