When The Zombies Came

Chapter 2

I woke up the next morning and I remembered a dream that I had last night: Ponyville in ruins, with dead ponies everywhere and at the centre of it all: a horde of zombies. I went to Twilight about it to see what she had to say. “Twilight, I had a dream about the zombies standing in the smoking ruins of Ponyville and I was wondering if Princess Luna sent me that dream because it’s a premonition and she needs us to know so that we can evacuate before the zombies come and invade our home?” After saying that all in one breath (just like Pinkie Pie when she gets overexcited, I might add), I was taking a few deep breaths to steady my heartbeat as I let what I said sink into the Princess of Friendship.

*30 seconds later*

The entire library was in shambles as Twilight pulled out every single book that was on the shelves, much to Spike’s annoyance, as told by him shouting “Hey, I just finished organising those!” and flying off mumbling under his breath.

“AH HA! I found it! Perplexing Pony Illnesses, the book that should help us cure the virus!” Twilight poofed down to the ground and started to flick through the pages frantically searching for something, anything that could shed some light on the outbreak and how to cure it.

“Uh, Twilight? Are you okay?” As I asked my question, Starlight Glimmer burst into the room panicking like there was no tomorrow.

“Twilight! Oh, thank Celestia I found you! Spike has a problem and he needs your help!” She looked up from the book which isn’t like Twilight, but these are extensive circumstances.

“Why, what’s wrong?”, she asked as she continued to read the book.

“He has a message from Princess Celestia that needs your attention.” With that, Twilight snapped the book shut and ran out the door to Spike’s room.

*at Spike’s room*

Twilight burst into Spike’s room with Starlight and I hot on her hooves. “Spike! What does the letter say? I need to know if there’s any new information about the virus that I should know about!” As she shouted, Spike walked out with the letter in his claw.

“I just got this letter. It has news about the zombies.”, he said with a somber expression on his face as he handed the letter to Twilight. She took it and unfurled the tightly rolled scroll to look at the information it held. She gasped as she read through the scroll in its entirety and when she was done, she sank to the floor sobbing quietly.

“Twilight, what’s wrong?”, I asked, knowing that it wouldn’t be good.

“Look at the scroll.” I grabbed the scroll and read it aloud.

“Dear Princess Twilight, Canterlot is under attack by the zombies. We fear that we won’t be able to hold out anymore unless you can get here fast to help us defend our home and save my citizens!” As I read the scroll, my ears drooped and my jaw dropped lower and lower.

“No...”
