//------------------------------// // Her Guardian Angel // Story: A Single Soul Found // by Delta Asada //------------------------------// Light, flashing, sirens, a deafening roar, this was all she could hear. Rain poured from the sky as if its intention was to flood the wold, soaked and cold she ran, her feet poundng on the wet pavement. Her shoes worn and torn barely holding onto her feet by the weakest of stitches. Her eyes darted side to side as she ran looking for any inkling of safety. There to the left, a green light flickering in the dark night. As if calling to her the light steadied out growing brighter as she grew ever closer. But as fate would have it, it was going to make this difficult, for as she drew closer her shoes finally gave. With the sudden lack of suppport beneath her feet she tripped sending her to the cold hard ground her head meer inches from smashing into the sidewalk. Struggling to get up, her knees shook and her hands bled. An aching pain rolled through her body as she found her balance, muted red dripped to the ground from her hands, a long gash on one and small pebbles imbedded in the other. Gritting her teeth and moving forward once more her world was rocked throwing her to the ground once more. Heat and smoke blew by her. Shrapnel, concrete and metal bounced around her as she reached up and covered her face. When the heat faded she uncovered her eyes and looked around. A huge crater had been torn into the street mere meters in front of her. Shaking her head from her daze and lul in thought, she once again found her feet, and continued on, despearately trying to find her way underground. The sky looked as if lit ablaze by fire, a dark red and orange hue spread across it as a massive explosion rocked the city. Again she was assulted, bracing herself she leaned forward against the shockwave, only to collapse to the ground as it hit. As if she had been hit by the earlier explosion directly, her whole body recoiled and collapsed. Ears bleeding and left with a loud ringing, he vision blurry and her mind in a daze, she managed to roll over groaning against the aching pain that filled her body. Panting and flinching at every pained breath her body screamed at her to stop and just let go. To leave behind the notion of survival and just let the nothingness of death take over. She was half tempted too. To just give in and give up, to stop fighting and just let her end be here. But she knew she had to keep going, to fight on and find a way to survive. Just to say fuck you to the gods and beat the apocolypse. And that was what she did. Standing again though with some difficulty, her vision cleared slightly still dancing with dark dots which avoided her focus. Taking a deep breath she winced, breathing was hard she knew it or guessed that she had a collapsed lung. She no longer her the rain or her own ragged breathing the shockwave of the explosion had left her with only a slight ring. To her left she saw something a bright blue swaying light, it danced in the peripherals of her vision. averting her gave she focused on the light as much as she could. An Arrow formed, as if out of nowhere the arrow pointed to an alley. Shaking her head she took a chance and walked to where the arrow was pointing to. She swore that she was going crazy, for when she drew close the bright blue neon arrow unraveled and moved down the alleyway and into the celler of the building on the left of her. She had her doubts about following a strange blue light that moved on its own, but right now hse didn't much have any other choice. Stowing away her hesitation she moved forward, following the path that the blue light had taken. darkness once again filled her vision as she stepped down into the celler. Time seemed to stand still as she walked down those stairs, lightly and almost silently the doors to the cellar shut behind her drowing out the chaos of the burning city behind her. As she continued on her eyes adjusted, alowing her to see the faintest of silouetes in the darkness that stood before her. "Yes, come, deeper." She glanced around slightly spooked by the voice that had called her. Taking a deep breath and letting out a long pained breath she steeled herself and continued further into the darkness. Her eyes snapped right, a light blue glow shone throught the blackness of the celler. She knew what it was but hesitated to continue, she had no idea what awaited her around the corner and she didnt know if she should continue on or curl up in the corner and wait for the world to end. "No need to fear young one, all that I bring is salvation from your doomed world." The voice did nothing to assure her to continue on, even with its sweet motherly tone she stood her ground not wanting to budge and inch. But the she got to thinking if the world is really doomed then there's no point in sitting around to dwadle on her decisions. But there was still something in the back of her mind that kept her still. "Who.... who are you?" she asked. With a light hearted chuckle the voice replied "I am your salvation young one. You do not wish to die do you?" "Well no but how do I know that I can trust you?" "That is one of the uncertainties of life, isnt it? Who to trust and who not to. You never really know untill you take a chance, now do you?" "...." Her mouth opened and closed silently, her words lost in her troat for she wasnt sure how to reply to that. "I'm giving you the oportunity to leave this place and live. For that is what you want right? To live?" Shaking her head, she closed her eyes and sighed. Once again she mustered up her courage and stepped forward, walking towards the blue light. What she witnessed when she rounded the corner left her speechless. Standing before her was nothing like she had ever seen. A tall dark blue horse, but it wasnt just a horse on its head standing a good foot and a half in length was a horn. and on its back twitching lightly was a pair of wings. The horse itself was smiling at her, its eyes unnaturally round and bigger that normal. It's mane flowed freely as if blowing in an invisible breeze and dotted with what seemed to be sparkling points, as if they were stars. "I...... what......" she choked on her words once again, dumbfounded by what was standing before her. "Come closer young one, trust me i do not bite." She couldnt move she simply couldnt comprehend what was happening, and it was this reveal that finally did her in. With all that had happened to her she collapsed, the wounds finally taking an effect on her. She had been running on adrenaline and that had finally worn off due to the shock. Smiling lightly and with a small look of concern the horse walked lighty over to the collapsed woman. Shaking its head lightly it bent its neck down and nuzzled the womans face. "You poor thing, do not worry for I Princess Luna ruler of equestia will make sure that no further harm comes to you" And with that Luna, the princess of the night lifted her head and closed her eyes. The room shook as her horn took on a blue hue, wind started to blow through the basement whipping around Luna and the unconscience woman. The gale grew stronger still as the princess poured out her magic, her horn glowing ever brighter as she continued. "Just... a little more." with the ammount of magic flowing though the air the ground beneath them cracked, spiderwebbing, and dropping them a few inches. soon the magic congregated around them forming a bubble of pure magical energy. And this is where she really had to concentrate for to mess up now would mean the death of them both or worse. Letting out a pained breath the drew the magic in focusing on the spell. Again the ground beneath them cracked before dropping away completely, concrete and wood fell deep into the dark abyss below but they did not fall. Suspended by spell the two floated above it. Magical whisps whipped around the ball as the inside grew brighter and brighter. A dark orange hue filled the abyss, a tidal wave of magma shot through the cravas, upwards and towards the two. as the magma rose, The ball grew brighter and brighter. The Princess knew she was short on time, she could feel the heat creeping in on her, and her response was to fully open up, draining her magical reserves into the spell. Heart racing and sweat coating her body she collapsed all of her magic onto the spell before yelling out in a primal rage. She was finally there without a second thought she released the spell. The ball collapsed on the two bathing them both in the pure magical intent of the spell. The magic flowed into and through them, sending them through time and space. On the outside to anybody who couldve seen it, it would have looked like they had just dissapeared. And that what they did and just in time for not a second after the magma shot past where they had been previously. Luna to this day would claim it to be all skill and her knowledge of magic, but in the back of her mind she knew that it was lucky timing. <______________> Celestia sat apon her throne, a look of worry and concern wore itself clearly on her face. She was in the middle of night court. The moon shone brightly through the stain glass windows, illuminating the deeds of past and current heroes. She was worried, though and was hardly paying attention to the small earth pony that was complaing about the weather team not bringing enough rain clouds to his crops. She couldnt feel her anywere, it was as if she had just dissapeared. But why, Luna had only just come back from the moon and she was still aclimating herself to modern day equestria. In the middle of this thought she noticed that the room had become quiet. Glacing down she noticed that the Pony was waiting for a respose. "I apologize Green Hoof, while I thank you for coming out here tonight I will have to think about how to precede with this situation of yours, if if oyu would kindly come back tomorrow I will have a solution for you." Green Hoof nodded and bowed. "Thank you Princess Celestia and thank you for your time." Celestia nodded and smiled "You may rise, and it is no problem I am truly sorry that I cannot come up with a solution at this moment." With a smile and a nod Green Hoof rose. "It is no problem Pricess Celestia" Smiling gently she gave Green Hoof a motherly nod "You are dismissed my little pony." With a smile back Green Hoof turned and walked towards the doors. The two guards on the side moved in unision to open the large doors of the throne room. As they opened Green hoof stepped through nodding politely to the gruards who then closed them doors silently behind him. Celestia sighed and slouched against the chair. Worry and concern once again flooded her features. She had to find her. She didnt want to be alone again, not again, not like before. Then something happened, like a buzzing in her ears, she felt it, a large congregation of magic was forming, and close by too. She was sure that the guards could feel it too, they shifted from hoof to hoof, glancing around. Silently she concentrated, the magic was familiar too familiar like it was a part of her. She knew right then who it was. Luna Hopping up from her throne, she looked at the guards. "Come, we are needed in the garden." Without a word they both teleported into the guarded, right after Celestia. She knew that this is where she was going to appear, but Celestia questioned the ammount of magic that was congregating. It was too much and now that it had gotten stronger she could now pinpoint where she would appear. Glancing up she saw the tale tell sign of the teleport, swirling magic and a gradual glow as a ball of magic formed thousand or so feet up. 'Why so high Luna?' Celestia questioned but she soon figured it out for as she squinted her eyes she finally felt all the magic in its whole. "Guards! Quickly, too me!" And they responded without hesitation flanking her sided as her horn started to glow and from her horn formed a bubble. the bubble encompased all three as the ball in the sky grew brighter and brighter eventually dwarfing the light of the moon as it light up the garden. Pouring a little amount of magic into the bubble to soundproof it. She knew, by the amount of magic in the bubble that it was going to be loud when she finally appeared. And that it was, for when the magic finally collapsed a massive shockwave was released shooting throught the palace, breaking windows, when it hit Celestias shield, she flinched and grunted slightly flaring her magic into the shield against the force of the blast. The shockwave continued out passing through Canterlot and onwards, reaching even out to Ponyville. With the Shockwave passed Celestia again looked up and her face filled with fear. Two figures were falling, both in an uncontrolled dive. She knew one was Luna but had no idea about the other. Dispelling the shield, she watched hoping that Luna would spread her wings, that she would take flight and that she would be alright, but her fears stayed as her heart stopped. "help..." It was a single word, but that word sprung Celestia into action without a word to her guards she was off before they knew what was going on. Wings beating widly she soared through the air, her eyes narrowed in concentration, her body glowing an ethereal orange as she soared through the air. Within seconds she reached them both, flying past them she stopped and closed her wings coming into a dive next to them. She knew she only had one shot at this, it was night and she didnt have the full magic of the sun behind her. Reaching out to them both with her magic she encompassed them both in her telekenetic grip pulling them into her as she flared her wings, and none to late either as they were only a few hundred feet from the ground. It was going to be a had stall, that she knew with both their weight and hers it was going to be a rough landing. Her wings strained against the force of the wind and the weight behind her, the ground was quickly rising to meet them. coming ever closer now the princess forced her wings to beat, pushing against the wind. And with each beat they slowed slightly, every so slightly. But it wasnt going to be anough, the landing was still going to hurt and she was prepared for that. With less than a hundred feet to go, the guards on the ground looked at each other and nodded, standing side by side they looked up and their horns glowed with power. They reached out with as much magic as they could muster and grasped at the princess. Pressing against her with a wall of magic in an attempt to slow her further. It worked but just barely, for as celestian was about to hit the ground she stopped, lying on a bed of magic that slowly lowered her to the ground. Celestia Sighed and gasped for air as he closed her sore and tired wings, lightly she lowered the two to the ground and released her magic. Taking deep breaths she stood on shaky knees, it had been all too long since she had exherted herself in such a way. Glancing up she looked at the guards and nodded in thanks. And nwo that she was safe and back on the ground she had the freedom to look at the other thing that she had just saved. Walking over slowly she looked down at the curled up figure. She recoiled in shock as she finally got a good look at it. She knew immediately what it was. It was a human. They were supposeed to be extinct, long gone from a time long long ago. And yet one was here right in front of her, and the closer she looked at it the more she noticed that it was injured, rather heavily in fact. "Guards! Go fetch the doctors and have them take both my sister and this thing into the infirmary." With a nod the both teleported out and not a few minutes later a few ponies ran out with two stretchers. Celestian stepped back and watch as the doctors took them both back into the palace. "My dear Luna. What have you brought into this world?"
