//------------------------------// // Day 7: Dear Princess Celestia... // Story: Spike's Home Alone // by TheSecretBrony //------------------------------// The next morning the only sound that could be heard was the furious scratching of quill on paper, Spike was in Twilight's study, composing a letter for the Princess. He occasionally paused tickling his chin with the feather as he pondered what to write next, before bending back over the desk and continuing. After the events of last night, Fluttershy and Spike relucatantly parted ways. Neither wanted to leave but Fluttershy had to tend to her animals in the morning, as well as clean up her cottage. Spike offered to visit the next day to help her, which she readily accepted, as it would give them a chance to discuss where they would go from there. Spike placed the quill back in the inkwell and blew softly on the paper, so as to prevent the ink from smudging. He read through it one last time. Dear Princess Celestia I thought that with Twilight spending the week with you. It was a chance for me to enjoy myself. To kick back and have some fun. I thought this week was going to be the easiest, most relaxing off my life. I was certainly wrong there. I certainly didn't expect to learn anything this week. Of course I was wrong again. I learnt that it's wrong to deny your feelings, it causes nothing by pain and heartbreak. Instead if you just follow your heart, ignoring the warnings of cynics and skeptics, whilst you still run the risk of getting hurt, you can be pleasantly surprised. Most importantly I learnt it's important to never have any regrets, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. It's better to get everything out in the open, than to let it eat you up inside. I'd often doubt whether, being a dragon, I'd ever be able to find love in a town of ponies and even though it's early days yet, I'd like to think that I've succeeded. From Spike P.S If things go really well, I'd like to discuss with you the possibility of something I've read about. A loud clatter at the front door, interrupted Spike as he was about to send the letter off. Walking downstairs he saw Twilight, back from her trip, surrounded by a pile of suitcases, her mouth wide open in shock. Spike gave her a friendly smile "Hey Twilight! Back so soon? "Y-yeah the Princess decided I'd been working a little too hard so sent me home to get some rest." She looked around the library amazed "How did you get the place so clean?! I purposely gave you a long list so you wouldn't get lazy, I didn't think you'd actually do everything on it!" He picked up her bags, letting out a small laugh "Let's just say I had some help." He carried the bags upstairs and laid them carefully on Twilight's bed. He called down "Oh yeah I hope you don't mind but there aren't any bits left in that bag, I had to pay to have the kitchen window replaced after Rainbow Dash crashed through it" "What?" He walked downstairs "Speaking of which, she's probably going to be over here as soon as she finds out your home. She's going to want to know how to get that glue you made off." He stopped at the window using the reflection to check that his spines were straight. "What?!" Satisfied that he looked presentable he carried on towards the door "I've done all of my chores, by the way, do you need me to do anything else, I could help you unpack?" "N-no Spike it looks like you've got everything done, I think that's enough for now." Spike stopped "Well okay, oh better send this before I forget." He curled up the scroll he'd been writing on before dousing it in green flames, sending it whizzing away to the Princess. "If you don't need me for anything, I'd best be off." He walked past the stunned Twilight and opened the door, as he walked out he said "Me and Fluttershy have to make plans for our date tomorrow" and with that he slammed the door shut behind him. "WHAT?!" Twilight shook her head, not sure whether she heard what she just thought she heard. She began to walk to the kitchen "Have I come back to the right Ponyville?! The Princess was right, I really must have been working too hard... I need a sit down. And a glass of wine...or six." Author's Note: And that's a wrap folks! I may return to this to rewrite any bits I don't particularly like, or maybe to correct spelling and such but that should be all. I'm tempted to write Twilight's side of the story, like what she got up to in Canterlot but I'll leave that for another time. Please feel free to leave any final comments, compliments or criticisms as any input is greatly appreciated.
