//------------------------------// // Sixth Day - Community Christmas Concert: // Story: The Dazzlings 12 Days of Christmas // by Zenyattaluver677 //------------------------------// “Ari, there’s a lot of people here.” Sonata quietly said as she followed her older sisters into the town hall for the christmas concert their local town held annually. “I know, you’re alright.” Aria softly replied, turning to look at her younger sister as they entered the small boot hall area of the town hall. “Did you bring me anything I could play with before it starts?” Sonata quietly asked as they took their boots off. “I did, I brought three of your little toy horses for you.” Aria answered, waiting for Sonata to put her shoes beside hers and Adagio’s and then they walked into the slightly larger area where coats could go. “Dagi, this is going to be fun.” Sonata said while all three of them took their coats and gloves off. “I know, don’t be bad.” Adagio flatly replied, turning and pointing her index finger at Sonata to tell her not to be bad. “She won’t be. She’ll be shy and probably stay around me the whole time.” Aria defensively said as they handed their coats and gloves to the people who were hanging them up in the small coat room. “Whatever. Let’s go find somewhere to sit.” Adagio explained, shrugging off what Aria’d said about Sonata, as she often did. “Come on Sonata.” Aria softly said, gently taking Sonata’s left hand in her right hand and then they followed Adagio. The three of them walked into the main hall area and looked around at the decorations and the set up at the hall, in the corner to their right, was a table set up with baked goods and hot chocolate. In the front right corner of the hall next to the stage was a huge Christmas tree, and there were Christmas lights strung around the windows of the hall and on the front of and around the stage. The girls walked over to one of the tables on the right side of the room and sat down at the one behind the last bench, Sonata immediately crawling onto and sitting on Aria’s lap, since she was scared and shy of being around strange people and being in a strange place. Once they were situated, Adagio walked over to the goods table to get some hot chocolate for herself and Aria. “Did you see the Christmas tree Nata?” Aria quietly whispered to her younger sister, pointing to the Christmas tree. “Yeah, why is it so big?” Sonata asked, looking at how big the Christmas tree was. “I don’t know, most likely because it’s a real tree.” Aria softly answered, gently brushing a strand of hair behind Sonata’s ear that had escaped the ponytail her hair was in. “Here.” Adagio said when she returned to the table, handing Aria her hot chocolate. “Thanks.” Aria replied as she took her hot chocolate from Adagio’s hand and took a quick sip of it before turning her attention back to Sonata. “Do you want your toy horses?” Aria asked her as she set her hot chocolate down on the table in front of her. “Yeah.” Sonata replied, looking up at her older and protective sister. “Ok, there you go.” Aria said once she grabbed the toy horses from the small bag they’d brought to put their things in, like their phones, wallets and car keys. “When does this thing start?” Adagio asked as she grabbed her phone out of the bag to check the time, seeing it was 6:52. “I think seven o'clock.” Aria answered before taking another sip of her hot chocolate while Sonata played with her toy horses on the table. “So about eight minutes then.” Adagio replied, setting her phone down on the table and grabbing her hot chocolate and taking a sip of it. *8 MINUTES LATER* “Ok, it’s going to start.” Aria softly whispered to Sonata as the lights of the hall were all turned out except for the Christmas and stage lights and everyone grabbed a seat and looked to the stage. “Ooh, it looks pretty.” Sonata said, handing her toy horses to her sister so Aria could put them back in the bag. “Yeah.” Aria replied, smiling that her younger sister was now happy and interested in what was going on. She leaned back on her chair slowly, so Sonata would know she was doing it. “This is going to be fun.” Sonata said as she leaned back on Aria after Aria leaned back on her chair. “It sure is.” Aria softly said, gently moving her right hand to rub Sonata’s right shoulder gently. *55 MINUTES LATER* “Is it over?” Sonata asked when the lights in the hall were turned back on and the kids began to run around again. “Yeah, it’s over.” Aria answered, gently getting Sonata to move so she could stand up to go throw her long emptied hot chocolate cup in the garbage at the back of the hall. “Watch her for a few seconds.” Aria said to Adagio before walking away to put her cup in the trash. “Yeah, sure. Whatever.” Adagio replied, although slightly distracted by something on her phone, since the town hall had wifi. “Dagi.” Sonata said, wanting to talk to her oldest sister about the concert. Adagio didn’t answer or look up, she just continued to look at something on her phone. “Dagi.” Sonata said again, gently tapping her oldest sister’s shoulder this time to get her attention. “What do you want Sonata?” Adagio flatly asked, looking up at her sister from her phone screen now. “Did you like the concert?” Sonata asked her, slightly backing away from Adagio as she did. “Oh, yeah I did.” Adagio answered before turning back to look at her phone. Sonata looked over at the table behind them with all the goods on it and seen there was some cookies and cupcakes on it, knowing she wasn’t allowed to have any because they made her anxiety bad. Aria walked back over to the table and saw Sonata watching something and followed her gaze to the goods table, guessing she probably wanted something from it, and Aria did let her have one once in a while, only if her anxiety wasn’t bothering her, or if it was a special occasion, which this was. “Come on Sonata, you can pick out something.” Aria softly explained, gesturing for Sonata to come over to her. “Really?” Sonata asked as she walked over to Aria. “Yeah, it’s a special occasion and you’re anxiety’s not bothering you.” Aria answered, leading Sonata over to the table so she could pick a cookie. Sonata looked over her options and Aria allowed her to take her time, since Sonata wasn’t normally allowed cookies. The options were sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, some little cookies with M & M’s in them, gingerbread cookies and cupcakes. “I want one of those please.” Sonata said, pointing to the tray of chocolate chip cookies. “Ok. There you go.” Aria said as she picked up a cookie and handed it to her younger sister. “Thanks Ari.” Sonata replied, turning and following Aria back over to the table where Adagio was still sitting. “You’re welcome.” Aria answered. “Are you two ready to go?” Adagio asked when they reached the table. “Sure, if you want to we can go I guess.” Aria answered, quickly checking to make sure they had everything. “Ok good, come on. I want to go home and relax.” Adagio explained, getting up from the table. The three of them then proceeded to get their coats, gloves and boots on and then left the hall and got into Adagio’s car to head home.
