Mystery Spell

I blame Jack. I blame everything on Jack.

Alright, now that that's out of the way, my name is Mary. I'm a human. Jack is my brother. He's also human. He's dating an angel named Aingil (I know, how unoriginal. Her mom was weird like that.) and she's our guardian angel. She's mine while she's humanoid and his when they're cats. Yes, my brother turns into a cat. Long story. Maybe I'll tell you some time. Anyways, there's also our cousin, Halie, she's a vampire. Plus her boyfriend, Daemon, he's a demon hunter. That's part of the long story. Then, there's Wiz. Well, he's actually called 'The Grand Wizard', but we all just call him Wiz. He hates it, and that makes it that much better! If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have a story to tell, really. I'd just be another girl. Oh, and he's human, too. I think. But there was a time when all of us became the same thing, and it started with a spell...

"Hm... what kind of spell is this? It's unlike any I've ever seen before..." Jack said. "It appears to be in some ancient language, but I don't recognize it at all..."

"Let me see, I might be able to read it..." Aingil said, coming over to look. "Hm... nope, that has never existed on Earth."

"What? But how is that possible?" Jack shouted. (He relies on Aingil for that sort of stuff way more than he should)

"Alternate universe, duh." I told them. "I mean, really, this isn't our first time dealing with alternate universe stuff. Remember Mack?"

Their faces both blanched as they remembered our last experience with alternate universes. I met myself. As a boy. It was weird. They both actually passed out. Mack and I laughed for ages. Written languages were totally different in his universe, though. What we call English he called Brahnish. It was weird, especially when he wrote his name for us. It sort of looked like English, but different, and with English letters, it looked like TRDB. It was weird. Really weird. Anyways, back to the story.

"Right... Mack... well, it's not Brahnish... this is going to take some research." Jack finally said.

"Alright. See ya later, then." I told them, before going off to see what Halie was doing.

A few days later, Jack came to me saying he'd cracked it. He didn't know what the language was, but he could read it. He thinks it's probably like Brahnish in that it sounds like English, but is written completely different, and probably has a different name, too. Curious, I went with him to check it out.

"Alright, I'm going to read it once, and then we're going to test it, ok?"

"Okay... let's do this." I answered.

"Alright... Reum Delcis Colorin Da, Oleum Jeucis Bonin Fa."

I started to laugh. It just sounded so silly. Most spells make sense, but this just sounded like a little kid that didn't understand how spells worked tried to write one!

"Hey, don't laugh at me, I'm not the one who wrote this." he scolded.

"Right, right. It just sounds so silly."

"I know, I know. Can we just do this already?"

"Fine." I sighed, and got into position.

He picked up his wand and chanted, "REUM DELCIS COLORIN DA, OLEUM JEUCIS BONIN FA!" and as he finished, magic arced out of his wand and hit me, and I felt the tingle of a teleportation spell.

"JACK! TELE-" was all I got out before I was gone.
