Twilight Sparkle and her friends screamed wildly as they entered into the Book of Ages. As they landed on the ground, they came across the Ancient Land of Ma. They all entered it as they're ready to face it. They witnessed the land was in turmoil as Imperial Court argued with each other while civil war broke out between peasants, rebels, imperials, warriors, nobles, warlords, ministers and even the Emperor.

Virtue Dragon, Blade Dragoon and Warpath Temper prayed and bowed down before the altar as they make a vow of sworn brotherhood. They joined up with various brave and compassion warriors in journeying across the land to help troubled ponies.
Azure Phoenix stood on the Imperial Palace's entrance as he held his sword up high proudly as his Imperial Phoenix Army. His army cheered wildly and proudly. They all went from territory to territory for conquest and control of the land.
Claw Tiger smiled proudly as he led his Tiger Warriors to deal with rebels. As he was dying, Claw Tiger passed the sword to his eldest son, Brave Tiger. Brave Tiger led his warriors in reclaiming Wuhu River for his clan. As he died, he passed to Courage Tiger as the new Leader of Kingdom.

Virtue Dragon helped ponies as well as showing kindness and compassion. His warriors of Western Dragon Kingdom fought bravely and determinedly to defend the innocent.

Chapter 23: The Sleeping Dragon
"After Virtue Dragon was granted the land of Xin Castle from Lord Sozin, he quietly ruminated on his ambitions. His dream of helping to ease the ponies's sufferings... The cruel reality that he had not been accomplished nearly enough..." Narrator narrated, "He needed someone who provide him a way to turn his dream into a reality. The province of Jing, being located in the center of the land, was bustling with travelers coming and going. Despite the vibrancy, Virtue Dragon would not easily find his answer there. Then, suddenly, Virtue Dragon's days of peaceful reflection came to a crushing end."
In 165 - 170 A.E., Virtue Dragon and his allies have spent some peace and quiet times at Xin Castle, and at the same time, they were recruiting and training their own army, preparation against Azure Phoenix. They also were searching and hiring some strategists at Jing Province, hoping to turn the tide against their common enemy. But so far, they unsuccessfully able to find the strategist or any of them would join them to fight.
"His rude awakening came at the hooves of Azure Phoenix, who was practical to the point of cruelty, and had no qualms about using his power to take what he wanted. After defeating and eliminating the Noble Griffon Family at Mt. Eagle's Peak, Azure Phoenix solidified his position in Northern Griffon for five years, all thanks to his dying strategist - Schemetrick. And now he has advanced his army south, determined not to let his fallen friend's effort in vain. For his first move, he attacked Virtue Dragon at Xin Castle. Although Virtue Dragon was weak at that time, he would become a powerful foe if given the opportunity. He has placed Armorhide, Strict Stalker and Laxtinct in vanguard and moved his forces to strike Virtue Dragon."
Spending five years after defeating the Noble Griffon Family, Azure Phoenix calmed down the civilians while stabilizing the Northern Griffon. And at the same time, he also was recruiting and training more soldiers. He was prepared to invade the Jing Province. He has placed Armorhide as the leader of vanguard, along with Strict Stalker and Laxtinct as his lieutenants, and the army of 50,000 soldiers. They all marched to the south as they prepared to invade and finish off Virtue Dragon and his allies once and for all.
"Together with his brave allies, Virtue Dragon stood before the encroaching threat of Azure Phoenix's army. Would his ideals be swallowed by the depths of Azure Phoenix's ambition?"
Virtue Dragon gathered his allies and soldiers as they're preparing to face off Armorhide's vanguard army, hoping they can achieve victory for once...

In 170 A.E., Virtue Dragon and his allies have encamped at some small garrisons, which was located further from Xin Castle's outskirt. Virtue Dragon, Blade Dragoon and even Saber Dragoon were standing before the fence. Ben, Applejack and Sandbar were with them. Rogue and Twinkle Star were training their army for battles. Warpath was looking out for Armorhide's large vanguard unit, who are standing before the garrison. Smolder was with him as she was spying on enemy's main camp via using the telescope. Both Bullock and Hook have returned from patrolling as they're making report to their leader.
"My lord, they're ready to attack us!" Hook reported in fear and concern, "Their numbers are larger than ours. We might not have the chance to push them back."
Bullock scoffed, "Well, if this is gonna be our last battle to die, I'm gonna give it all for Lord Blade Dragoon!"
"Thank you, Bullock and Hook. You all did well," Blade Dragoon said calmly and firmly. While touching and patting his long beard, He turned and looked at Virtue Dragon, "Brother?"
Virtue sighed, "Might armies now encroach upon Jing Province. Azure Phoenix's methods are heartless and cruel. But what should I do? No matter how hard I tried, I was unable to defeat him and rescue your friends, Ben. I'm sorry." He sighed, "Is Azure Phoenix destined to rule the land? If so, then I far this chaos will never come to an end. Maybe I was destined to fall here, and never meant to restore Qin Dynasty..."
"Hey, we're not giving up, Lord Virtue. We're just getting started," Ben protested.
Applejack nodded, "Yeah. Just because you failed too many times, doesn't mean it's the end of the world. Azure Phoenix hasn't actually conquer the whole land. We still got chance to fight and push them back."
"They're both right, Father. We can't give up. We just need an opportunity to strike," Saber said optimistically.
"The kid's right, brother!" Warpath shouted happily as he and Smolder climbed down the tower's ladders. He approached to them, "Maybe you're overthinking things. You need to do things your own way. You'll always have us on your side."
Blade Dragoon nodded in agreement, "Indeed. No matter what happens, we will stand by your side till the end, brother."
"Our fathers' right, Lord Uncle." Rogue said firmly, "Don't become Azure Phoenix. Be the pony, who has cherished and cared for ponies. It's the reason why so many of us join and follow you till the end."
Twinkle Star nodded, "Yes. Despite outnumbered we maybe, we will not fail and try again until we're victories. We cannot give up."
"You all..." Virtue said in surprise. He looked up ahead and found Dragonspear, Starlight and another pony is with them. He spoke, "They have returned. Huh? Who is that?"
Starlight and Dragonspear approached to Virtue. She spoke, "We found a strategist to help us, Virtue. His name is Cooler. You might find something shocking about him too."
Everyone was confused. They looked at the new pony. They even Sandbar gasped in shock and surprise, and even Cooler himself - who is adult Sandbar-lookalike pony except he worn greenish traveling suit and has a combed cyan mane and tail.
"Wow... He looks just like me..." Sandbar commented in shock and surprise.
Cooler nodded in surprise, "Definitely. Never thought I have someone, who looks a lot like me, my friend..."
"I didn't know Sandbar has twin brother," Phobos asked in surprise.
"I don't think he is..." Ben disagreed, "He could be one of Sandbar's ancestors because of his looks and personality." He sighed, "I hope I won't ran into my ancestor around here."
Dragonspear nodded, "Master Cooler is a talented strategist. He is certain to assist our lord's effort."
"Sound suspicious if you asked me," Smolder said suspiciously.
Cooler bowed humbly, "I harbor no ill towards Lord Virtue. I'm simply asked you to trust me."
Warpath hummed suspiciously before sighed, "Well. What do we got to lose? It's not like we're gonna make any difference. All we do is charge and attack them. Simple as that."
Smolder nodded amusingly, "Definitely, easy."
"Don't get cocky." Applejack warned Warpath and Smolder, "Remember the last time we fought Imperial Phoenix Army. We almost lost our lives, and some of our friends. We just have to be prepare for anything."
Pinkie nodded, "She's right. They're good at planning and attacking us with huge army. I hate to think that we're gonna lose again." She giggled, "But what do we got to lose now? We've got the Sleeping Dragon!"
"Pinkie..." Pinkie's friends groaned in annoyance.
Pinkie smiled, "I know. I know. Cooler is not Sleeping Dragon. I was just trying to be optimistic."
"If you want to find Sleeping Dragon, I'm happy to help you find him," Cooler said calmly. Everyone looked surprise to look at him in awe and surprise. He continued, "I've known this guy well. He and I were students once. He is a reclusive genius. He has the ability to see the bigger picture. You must secure his cooperation."
"So, who is he?" Virtue asked.
"His name is Skysoar Intellect," Cooler answered, "I'll help you find him soon. But now, we must deal with the enemies first. I have the plan."
Virtue and his allies gathered around Cooler, whom explained and gave his plans to them of what they can do. Ben and his own friends have their own discussion, involving of their own friends now.
"I saw Spike, Gallus and Silverstream. They're with Imperial Phoenix Army," Smolder said in concern yet angered, "Damn it. What the hell were they doing?!"
"Easy, Smolder. Remember what Ben has told us?" Sandbar asked in concern before continued, "If Twilight hadn't give herself to Azure Phoenix and make a deal with him, all of them would be killed. She's not willing to let them die because of that Azure wanted her as his strategist."
"Luckily; Fluttershy, Nyx, Spike, and now Gallus and Silverstream are with Twilight. They'll keep her safe," Pinkie said happily.
"I'm more surprised that Azure let a Hippogriff in, considering how much Blazefist hated them," Applejack said in concern, "Could be Twilight saving her life from him?"
Ben shrugged, "Who knows? More importantly is that Gallus and Silverstream are alive and with Spike now. The only students we've gotta worry about is Carrie, Yona and Ocellus. I have the feeling that they're at Wuhu River. I just hope they're don't get so much offense from Ma Ponies."
"Yeah. I'm worried too. The last time we tried to get them together, it didn't go well for us," Pinkie said in concern.
"I just hope that Rarity, Rainbow and Sunset are there if they're alive," Starlight said in concern.
Phobos cleared his throat, "Should we do something about the bad guys now? Push them off and rescue our friends?"
"Hopefully, we can, Phobos..." Ben said in concern.

At the Imperial Phoenix Main Camp, Armorhide was talking and discussing with both Strict Stalker and Laxtinct about making strategy and formation to fight and finish off Virtue Dragon and his allies. Spike was writing down on his scroll before passing to the generals. Gallus and Silverstream, who worn Imperial Phoenix Armor, have arrived and bowed humbly before them.
"Armorhide, we've done our work," Gallus reported sarcastically. Strict Stalker stomped his trident on the ground, scaring the griffon off. He gulped, "I mean! General Armorhide, the preparation for our army is ready."
Silverstream nodded, "Yeah. They're ready to finish our enemies off including our friends..."
Spike groaned in concern, "Guys..."
"Silverstream, our lord has made a promise that we only defeat and kill Virtue Dragon and his allies. Nothing more and nothing less," Armorhide said firmly, "We will rescue your friends. You will have our word."
Strict Stalker nodded, "Indeed. We will succeed our mission. You should be lucky that our lord is very generous from killing you especially Lieutenant Blazefist wanted to do so."
Silverstream hummed fearfully, "I so don't want to get on his bad side."
"Relax, kiddo. He isn't that bad," Laxtinct said calmly and happily before showing worried and uneasily looks, "Much..."
"Great. That make us feel better..." Gallus said in annoyance.
"Either way, let us proceed and finish them off once and for all. This will be an easy battle," Armorhide said firmly, "All units prepare for battle! Laxtinct and Strict Stalker, prepare our special formation for our guests. Time to show them they're still hopeless to defeat us."
"Yes, General!" Everyone exclaimed and bowed humbly.
"I can't believe this..." Gallus said in frustration, "We're going to fight our own friends. This is so unfair."
Silverstream sighed, "I don't like it too, Gallus. But Headmare Twilight said that if we win the battle and capture them alive, Azure Phoenix will spare and let them join us. It's the only way."
"Yeah. Trust me. It's never been fair to any of us. War is like that," Spike said in concern.
Gallus groaned, "I hate wars now..."

Virtue Dragon and his allies marched out from their garrison. They all armed and ready to strike down the enemies. They all split up their forces. Both Blade Dragoon and Warpath went through the forest, along with the company of Rogue, Twinkle Star, Bullock, Hook, Smolder, Starlight, Pinkie and 1.000 soldiers. Virtue, Saber, Dragonspear, Cooler, Ben's Team and the remaining forces of 2,000 soldiers charged to the front line, where they found Strict Stalker and Laxtinct stood before them, with their large numbers of soldiers.
Seeing the enemy is approaching, Strict Stalker shouted, "All units, formed up!"
Laxtinct blew his horn before shouted, "Eight Gate Formation!"
Imperial Phoenix Army cheered wildly and firmly as they obeyed the order. They quickly moved out and formed the a giant circle formation with main yet larger unit led by Strict Stalker on the center, eight large units covering the corners, along with some several small units guarding and defending them. Each of units are covered by shielded warriors, 30 archers and 100 soldiers with swords and spears. The formation shocked and surprised Virtue Dragon's main unit to stop at once.
"What the?!" Dragonspear exclaimed in shock.
"What is this?" Virtue asked in concern, "What kind of formation is this?"
"The Eight Gate Formation," Cooler answered calmly. Everyone looked at him. He continued to explain about the formation, "The Eight Gate Formation is ever-changing in appearance. If you make a mistake in how you approach it, only death will await you, such as charging at Colonel Strict Stalker, and then the formation will change and repel the attacks."
"So, that's bad?" Sandbar asked in concern.
"So, how the hell are we gonna beat them?!" Phobos asked angrily and annoyingly, "this sounds impossible."
"The formation may have been flawless and effective, but not impossible to destroy it," Cooler said calmly, "Inception, Life, Brilliance, Wonder, Obstruction, Repose, Pain and Death. In order to defeat this formation, these eight gates are the keys. Defeating the commanding officers, their own units will be thrown into confusion and chaos. Starting with Life, followed by Wonder, Brilliance, Inception, Repose, Obstruction, Pain and then finally, Death. Once we achieve it, the last remaining unit will be expose for all of us to charge and break through it."
"What?" Applejack asked in confusion.
Cooler sighed, "Go around in circle before attacking the main unit in middle."
"Oh! Why didn't you say so?!" Phobos asked in annoyance, "You strategist always like to confuse everyone..."
"Either way, we have the objective. I shall lead the attack," Dragonspear said firmly, "There may have left their weakness to expose, doesn't mean they will be easily to deal with. I can take the hit."
"Are you sure?" Virtue asked in concern.
"Have faith, my lord. I can do it," Dragonspear said firmly, "Let's do it!"
Dragonspear mounted on his white dragon steed. He led his small unit of 100 to charge straight at the Eight Gate Formation, while the rest of main unit remained behind and readied to attack. Strict Stalker screamed wildly as he waved his small flag. Laxtinct blew his horn to signal the units to change the formation. As they did, they moved and shifted from their original positions to another while firing their arrows and throwing spears at Dragonspear's unit. Dragonspear able to dodge and deflect the attacks, though his unit suffered some casualties and hits. Despite that, they entered the Gate of Life and engaged the enemies head on.
Following Cooler's advice, Dragonspear searched and thrust his spear in killing commanding officers of eight units by going around in circle. After going around in big circle, they arrived at the main unit. Both Strict Stalker and Laxtinct yelped and looked in shock and concern.
"What the?! How did they?!" Laxtinct asked in shock and concern.
"I don't know how they do it," Strict Stalker said in concern yet dryly, "He will not win this fight."
Strict Stalker screamed as he charged and engaged with Dragonspear. They both swung their trident and spears at each other for few times. Laxtinct jumped and slammed his war hammer on him from behind. Dragonspear spotted him as he quickly kicked Strict Stalker before dodged the attacks and rolled behind of Laxtinct, where he kicked him at the dragon warrior. Both of them got up and turned to face him. Laxtinct and Strict Stalker at Dragonspear, who quickly dodge and deflect the attacks for few times. Strict Stalker thrust his trident at Dragonspear, who grabbed and held it tightly while he has his back hoof in holding Laxtinct's hammer down for the moment. Dragonspear quickly swung and slapped his spear's pole at Laxtinct's face, before tripped him to fall down. Dragonspear thrust his spear in hitting Strict Stalker's guts before kicked him off. Dragonspear screamed firmly as he unleashed his powerful swing in knocking them both out.
Seeing their officers have been defeated, the Imperial Phoenix Army within Eight Gate Formation panicked and screamed in fear.
"It works!" Everyone exclaimed in surprise.
"Now's your chance. Push them back now!" Cooler exclaimed firmly.
"Now attack!" Virtue ordered firmly.
Virtue's Main Army charged and easily defeat most of Imperial Phoenix Army. Strict Stalker and Laxtinct quickly retreat back to the main camp. Armorhide was in shock and confuse of what he just saw. He couldn't believe it in his own eyes that Virtue Dragon has actually managed to defeat him and his army.
"That's impossible. How could they manage to defeat us?!" Armorhide asked in shock and confusion.
"I have no idea. But we mess it up badly," Laxtinct commented in shock and worry.
Strict Stalker hissed, "There is one reason. They have the strategist among them. Because of him, our formation have crumbled."
ROAR! CRIED! Armorhide and his allies yelped in shock and panicked in fear. They found both sides are being invaded and attacked by Blade Dragoon's and Warpath's units. They all easily defeated and destroyed the units, and also burnt down the armory and supplies. Blade Dragoon easily swung his Crescent Blue Dragon Blade at Strict Stalker to the walls while Warpath punched Laxtinct's face. They both turned and readied to finish off Armorhide, who prepared his large shield for the impact. Instead of getting killed, both Silverstream and Gallus charged and rammed them both off. Spike came and assisted Armorhide to get up. Gallus and Silverstream came to his aid.
"You saved us. Thank you," Armorhide said in relief.
"It's not like we have the choice," Gallus remarked sarcastically.
Silverstream nodded, "The last thing I wanted to do is deal with Blazefist's anger issue with me."
"Let's get out of here now!" Spike insisted.
Armorhide nodded in agreement before glared at Virtue Dragon and his allies, "Don't think this is over. We shall return! All units, fall back! Pull back to Xuchang now!"
Hearing the order, the remaining soldiers of Imperial Phoenix Army quickly make regrouped and escaped at once. Strict Stalker and Laxtinct stayed close to their allies as they quickly make their escape. And at the same time; Gallus, Silverstream and Spike took the last glance at their friends, Smolder and Sandbar. They all shown sad and guilty looks before make their escape.
"I can't believe it. They really side with the bad guys," Smolder said in disbelief.
Sandbar sighed, "Don't blame them, Smolder. They did what they have to do. Hopefully, changing Azure Phoenix's mind."
"Either way, we've won. That matters," Ben said firmly, "And soon, we'll get our friends back."
"We will," Warpath said firmly, "And I can't believe that fighting with them is so easy."
"No," Blade Dragoon disagreed, "Brute strength alone won't be enough to defeat them. Because of what Master Cooler has done for us, his strategy and intelligent have helped us to gain our very first victory against them."
Dragonspear nodded, "Indeed. We're lucky to have him by our sides."
"Yes, we do. But they will return soon," Virtue said in concern. He turned and looked at Cooler, "What is next?"
Cooler smiled, "We find and visit the Sleeping Dragon..."

Armorhide, Strict Stalker, Laxtinct, Spike, Gallus and Silverstream made their full-retreat to Xuchang Province. Azure Phoenix, his advisors and military officers were gathered inside his office, where Armorhide and his group made the report about their failures. They all bowed down before the warlord.
Azure Phoenix hummed in concern, "This is unusual. I'd never thought that Virtue Dragon has actually manage to defeat you and your invincible formation."
Armorhide bowed his head to the ground as he apologizes, "Please, forgive me for failing you. I deserve punishment for not able to deal with Virtue Dragon at once."
"Do not be threatened, Armorhide. I will not punish you. But I must know. How did he do it?"
"We suspect that Virtue Dragon has obtained a strategist to defeat our formation." Strict Stalker said with a suspicious frown on his face. "I hate to admit I was surprised and amazed by the tactic."
"I think he's the guy, who looked like a kid, with cutie mark of turtles." Laxtinct said thoughtfully. "That guy's name is... I think... It's Master Cooler..."
Twilight gasped, "Sandbar... That means he and others must be with Ben now..."
"Right, at least another student is accounted for." Spike whispers in relief. Hopefully all of the students are okay, and not hurt.
"I can only pray the meanies don't hurt them." Fluttershy whispers in agreement.
Azure Phoenix hummed, "This is most disturbing and unsettling. Having a strategist means a great danger to realizing my ambition. What do you suppose we do about him?"
"We must dispose of him at once before he could do more damages to us." Master Ratio suggests sternly to Azure.
Woren nodded while adding, "Yes. But a better suggestion is that we invited him to join our ranks, rather than forcing him. We just need to do a little research on his background."
"Yes. You could be right." Azure said thoughtfully. He turned to Twilight to ask, "Tell me, Oracle, what do you make of this?"
Twilight sighed, "Master Cooler is not the pony you should be worried about. But rather The Sleeping Dragon is the one, who will become a threat to you."
"The Sleeping Dragon?"
Gallus scoffed, "So, a dragon is sleeping peacefully is a big problem to him?" His head got smacked by Strict Stalker. Ow! That hurt! I was just joking."
"In military, we don't joke." Strict Stalker said to the griffin sternly. No one ever jokes around here and not get punished for it.
"He's dead serious." Laxtinct whimpers. He then shows his back with lots of whip marks to prove his point. "I've got proof! It's damn painful."
Silverstream yelped, "I hate to imagine of that."
"Still, who is this Sleeping Dragon?" Strikespell asked the others. If this Sleeping Dragon is true, perhaps he could be a use to the army....or a threat to expose of.
"Please, allow me. I've heard rumors. It is said that the Sleeping Dragon possessed ingenious and magnificent highly intelligent mind for military strategies, politics, economics, commerce and even scholarship." Snaptrap explains. "He is also known for inventing formation, strategies and even weapons that are far more advanced then we could ever imagine."
Everyone chatted in shock and surprise about 'The Sleeping Dragon's capabilities and strength.
"I know I've met Skysoar once, but I didn't think he's good as you are." Fluttershy comments to Twilight in bewilderment.
"Actually, he's way better as Starswirl the Bearded." Twilight explains, though cringed at the idea of somepony being more better than that of her idol. "And truthfully, I heard a rumor that he actually met the Starswirl the Bearded and learned everything from him before he became the Mystic Pony."
"Wait, you're saying that Skysoar Intellect is also Starswirl the Bearded's apprentice, other than Clover the Clever?" Nyx ask her mother in surprise.
"Yup."
"Wow. How many apprentices do Star Swirl got?" Spike asks the others in disbelief.
"More than you possibly know." Nyx answers her Dragon brother, surprising him.
"Geez; I am not sure if this guy's a pony....or a Dragon like his name is." Gallus comments uneasily. If it's the latter, he may be in for some trouble.
"Is he that intelligent as Schemetrick? I do not enjoy comparing anyone else to him. None can match his intellect." Azure said to Twilight sternly. He ponders if he's as smart as Schemetrick ever was.
Twilight pauses to think before answering truthfully, "Truthfully, I would say he's equal to Schemetrick."
"I must know who is he, and also recruit him before Virtue Dragon gets him. If he does, he will become a greater threat."
"May I suggest some spies will follow Virtue Dragon? He might led them to the strategist's home." Woren suggests thoughtfully. If they know where this "Sleeping Dragon" is, then they can get to him before Virtue Dragon's army does.
Strikespell hummed, "Father, Master Woren's right. Once we know where he lived, we will sent agents to get him. I nominate Lieutenant Blazefist and Private Silvestream to go."
Everyone sans Azure Phoenix gave a shock and worried expression.
Silverstream gulped, "I... I don't think that's a very good idea." She then laughed uneasily while remembering the irony. Blazefist doesn't like her in this time. "Maybe I shouldn't be involved of it at all."
Blazefist bowed to Azure Phoenix as he spoke, "Yes, my lord. For once, I agreed with her. I don't need anyone's help or even this thing. She would cause more problem than helping. I don't trust her kind."
Silverstream looked down in shame as she groans, "Ooh..."
"Hey! Silverstream is more than just a happy Hippogriff. She's tougher than you think, jerk!" Gallus scowls angrily to Blazefist.
"As surprising as this mean seem, I also agree with the griffin." Strikespell spoke up. "In light of her kind's actions, she has proven himself indeed."
"Come on you two. Give each other a chance." Spike spoke up in concern.
"I agreed with my son and Gallus. The Hippogriff has to prove herself that she can be trusted." Azure said thoughtfully, much to Blazefist and Silverstream's disbelief. "Lieutenant, you and Private Silverstream will head to the Jing Province to find and recruit the Sleeping Dragon, no matter the cost. Understand?"
Blazefist and Silverstream spoke out in protest, "What?! But my lord, I-!"
"Is that understood?! I want the Sleeping Dragon to join our side, at all cost. I don't care of your personal matters to each other. I want results."
Blazefist and Silverstream sighed in annoyance and bowed down firmly, "Yes, my lord."
Gallus groaned, "Me and my big mouth."
"You think having those two together is a good idea?" Fluttershy ask her group in concern. Blazefist doesn't like Silverstream because of her kind, and Silverstream herself is not used to Blazefist's pre-attitude.
"I am more worried as to what she may do to him, than him to her." Spike said seriously.

After defeating and repelling Azure Phoenix's Army, Master Cooler led and guided Virtue Dragon and his allies to Skysoar Intellect's home, which was located somewhere deep in the bamboo forest.
"It was a battle of minds. Master Cooler cleverly directed Virtue Dragon and his allies, and successfully repelled Azure Phoenix's army. It was he, who recommended to Virtue Dragon the land's brilliant strategist: Skysoar Intellect. Virtue Dragon believed he had finally found the pony he had long been searching for."
Over a year have passed, Virtue Dragon and his allies weren't able to meet Skysoar Intellect due to latter has left for travelling or not able to meet him.
"However, despite paying two visits to the hermit's home, he still had been unable to meet Skysoar Intellect."
Blade Dragoon and Warpath were annoyed and angered about unable to visit Skysoar. Virtue was determined to seek and visit the pony, no matter how many visits he must pay to.
"Blade Dragoon and Warpath Temper were deeply offended, but Virtue Dragon continued on, paying yet another visit to the home. For it would help him save the Ma Ponies, he would pay as many visits as he took."
On their third visit, Virtue Dragon and his allies, consisting of Blade Dragoon, Warpath Temper, Dragonspear, Ben, Applejack, Pinkie, Sandbar and Smolder, were waiting outside for answer. Master Cooler is with them as well.
"And so, it was then that Virtue Dragon has finally found the answer..."
Warpath groaned, "This better worth our troubles. And so far, he hasn't shown his face at all. Are you sure this guy really can help us?"
"Positively. Why?" Master Cooler asks Warpath, wondering why he questioned this idea.
Blade Dragoon explains with annoyed sigh, "We have paid two visits to him, and yet he refused to meet us. I'm actually having doubts that he's The Sleeping Dragon."
"Master Blade, have you forgotten what Master Cooler has done from 'The Battle of Xin Castle'? With a greater strategist on our side, we might have the chance to turn the tide." Dragonspear points out to Blade Dragoon. With the Sleeping Dragon on their side, they will have a chance.
"That's right, dude. He's way better than me." Master Cooler chuckled as he points a hoof at himself proudly.
Warpath just scoffs at this, "If you ask me, you're enough to become a strategist, we don't need another one."
"Warpath is right. Why do we need him when we have you?" Blade Dragoon questioned this idea.
Master Cooler sighed, "I told you before. Skysoar has the ability to see a bigger picture. I know that because I tried to beat him in Go Board, but he defeated me at once for almost 20 times. I've won nothing."
"Besides, our lord wished to see him. I hope he's here..." Dragonspear said in concern. If the Sleeping Dragon isn't here, they came all this way for no reason!
"I sure hope he is here." Applejack said in concern. "We need all the help we can get to get our friends back and probably get out of this mayhem."
"Right, and about time too. Jus has been delaying this chapter for too long." Pinkie complains, much to the amusement of her friends.
"What is she on about?" Smolder ask Sandbar quizzably who just shrugs at this.
Virtue Dragon remained firm and calm. He was looking at thatched cottage, waiting for the pony he wanted to meet. Suddenly, the door opened in two. A young beautiful tanned unicorn mare with long lighter brown mane and tail with lighter greenish and light yellow streaks, her cutie mark is juggernaut and wood ox inventions worn a white Chinese Ancient dress emerged from it.
The Unicorn Mare spoke gently as she bows to the newcomers, "Welcome, Lord Virtue and Master Cooler. My husband has been expecting you all."
Everyone was in shock and surprise by the mare's greeting, as well as they were expecting their arrival.
"Whoa! How did this Dragon guy know?" Sandbar asks in amazement.
"What, he can see all now?" Smolder ask in amazement.
"Okay, we're all amazed, Jus." Pinkie said to me boredly. "We get the idea, no more."
Luckily Virtue didn't hear Pinkie as he spoke, "We were expected? Your husband knew that we're coming here."
The Unicorn mare nodded, speaking, "Of course. My servant has informed me and my husband that you were seeking him out. He knew that you would come here sooner or later. This is your chance now, my lord."
Virtue sighed, "You have no idea how long I wanted to hear that. Can you take us to him?"
"I will. My name is Lady Marvel Invent. Welcome to my lord's home. This way..."
Lady Marvel guided and led the guests into the thatched cottage. Within the cottage stood a young green Unicorn has a black and white mane in bun-shape, tail, and has shortened yet sharp mustache and goatee worn his Taoist-like white robe. He was levitating the crane feathered war fan.
"That's Skysoar Intellect? He doesn't look like a smart guy." Smolder spoke skeptically. She would've imagined Skysoar himself to be smarter.
Sandbar hushed Smolder, "Don't get us into trouble. You sure it's him, professor?"
"Eeyup. That's him. I met him once." Pinkie answers truthfully, and it's true, folks. She did met Skysoar once before.
"So do I." Applejack said truthfully.
Skysoar bowed humbly before Virtue and his allies. He spoke calmly and firmly, "Welcome to my home. I've been expecting you."
Warpath just scoffs at this, "The nerve of him to say that after we paid last two visits. He is no show."
Blade Dragoon nodded firmly while adding, "I agreed, Warpath. He dare claim that we were expected."
Dragonspear sighed, "Master Dragoon. Master Warpath. Please, don't start the problem."
"This is your third visit. What is it that you want so badly from me?" Skysoar ask the newcomers curiously. What is it that they want that they will visit him a third time to speak with him?
"I wish to benefit from your wisdom. Tell me what must be done." Virtue explains calmly. Skysoar remained silent yet calm and firm. He sighed, "I know what I want to do - I want to ease the ponies' sufferings. But..."
Skysoar climbed down the stairs while looking at his eyes, calmly saying, "But you saved one pony, and it just bring suffering to another."
"What should I do?"
"Yeah. If you've got some wisdom, then tell us! I'm getting annoying." Warpath demanded more than he asked.
"Or maybe he's gonna be bore us to death for nothing? Coz I hate philosophy nonsense." Smolder remarks boredly as she sat on the ground, looking at her claw while wondering if she should be elsewhere than here right now.
Dragonspear whacked Warpath and Smolder's heads, scowling, "Manners, you two. We're their guests."
Skysoar smiled, answering, "Benevolence..."
"Benevolence," Ben asks Skysoar puzzled.
"That's all we came here for?" Smolder ask in disbelief then moves to avoid another whack by Dragonspear. "Hey, I was just asking!"
"Still manners," Dragonspear snapped sternly to the female Dragon.
"What do you mean by that?" Applejack ask Skysoar curiously.
Skysoar smiles as he explains, "Good question... Benevolence is a trick thing. Come, let us go inside and have a talk about your future."
"Future? What do you mean?" Virtue asked, a bit startled by this from out of nowhere.
"I will explain inside. Please, follow me."
Skysoar entered his cottage while leading the guests inside. Lady Marvel closed the door but not before she pulled down the level, activating a mechanism. The whole thatched cottage was covered by group of crossbows with magical aura as they were looking around and keeping out for the enemies.
Unknown to anyone, Blazefist and Silverstream were inside the bushes. They have seen everything.
Silverstream shivered in cold, groaning, "So much of getting inside the cottage. Can we go now?! I'm so tired and hungry."
"Not until we get Skysoar to our lord."
"You heard what he said! Skysoar doesn't want to join Imperial Phoenix Army, unless he come to Lord Azure."
"I don't take orders from hermit. I make them obey the order, whether he likes it or not." Blazefist snapped sternly and a bit cruelly towards Silverstream.
Silverstream sighed, "You do realize that you're gonna make things worse."
"Shut up..."

Skysoar led his guest to his study chamber, where he can explain and talk about 'benevolence'. Virtue was sitting down before Skysoar, who also sat down.
"So, Skysoar; what's with the benevolence stuff," Smolder ask the pony curiously.
"Come on, Smolder. Don't be rude." Applejack spoke to Smolder sternly. She then turns back to Skysoar though. "So uh, what she asked?"
"Benevolence means valuing the feelings of the ponies over efficiency and profit. Azure Phoenix's way is to seize control of the land through brute force." Skysoar explains clearly to the new comers.
"Well, that does make sense." Ben said with a nod of thought. "Azure was a nice guy when we first met him.....now? He's turning into the same kind of tyrant his former Emperor or that traitorous jerk would ever be."
"Yeah. What a hypocrite!" Pinkie remarked with a scoff of disgust.
"Yeah, but his ways and what his enemies did are kinda different." Sandbar commented with a sigh.
"While your path leads ponies to a land of benevolence; And this Princess Twilight's path..." Skysoar pauses a bit before he sighed, "is truly mysterious..."
Everyone looked worry and uneasy about him talking about Twilight.
"I have heard about her. I was told that she believed in Magic of Friendship. Her intention of helping and protecting ponies and even guiding them to become good friends with each other is well-intended." Skysoar explains as he scratches his chin thoughtfully. "Yet she sided with Azure Phoenix. That's what puzzle me the most. "
Ben hissed, "It's... It's complicated..."
"Yes, but she has no choice but to work with the enemy." Applejack remarked with a frown. "And I don't hate that."
"So do we," Pinkie complains to Applejack sadly.
"Yeah, what gives?" Smolder asks the professors in concern.
"Remember? She did it to keep us safe from Azure and his army's wrath."
"If you ask me, that plan stinks."
Skysoar looked at Virtue to continue onward, "Your path is that of a true leader of Ma Ponies. But to make it more than just a dream, you have the courage to unite the land."
"I fear I am incapable because I couldn't help and save all of my friends." Virtue explains sadly. "They're either dead or forced to serve another warlord..."
"Virtue..." Ben said to Virtue calmly and understanding. He knows how difficult it is.
"If you truly want to make it happen; then, listen for I can help you..." Skysoar said as he prepares to give some advice to Virtue to help him out in time of need.
"Brother..." Blade Dragoon and Warpath spoke gently.
Master Cooler patted Virtue on the arm as he spoke to the ones who spoke, "Don't worry, my friends. You can trust him. He is the one, who can help us."
Virtue sighed, "Alright, what can we do?"
Skysoar narrowed his suspicious eyes before looking at the window. He spoke out sternly, "We have unwanted guests. Sandbar and Smolder, am I right?" Sandbar and Smolder nodded in confusion. "I need a favor."

Blazefist and Silverstream were on top of the tree's edges of branches. The pink Hippogriff was holding tightly on the crimson Pegasus's armor as the latter was using his ear trumpet in eavesdropping the conversation.
Silverstream groaned, "This is stupid! They could find us sooner or later! We'd be dead."
Blazefist sighed, "Would you relax, Hippogriff? I've done this couple of times. I'm great at being spymaster. There's never been one time I get caught, hippy pinkie."
Silverstream groaned, "Stop calling me that, Hothead. I hate that nickname."
"Get use to kid, hippy pinkie. You're working for me now, even though I hated to have a Hippogriff."
Silverstream groaned, "Believe me. I don't like working with a jerk like you. But..." She sighed in sadness, "I didn't have a choice because I'm doing this for Headmare."
That may have been a bad thing to say. Blazefist turns to Silverstream and pointed blazing knife at her throat and making her yelp. The pony snapped, "It's Oracle now, kid. From now on, you refer her as Oracle, not 'headmare'. I'd never heard such a word before in my life."
Silverstream groaned, "Suck to be in this ancient world." She yelped in concern, "Blazefist!"
"What?!"
"In front of you!"
Blazefist looked at the front as he found Skysoar was glaring at them. Both Blazefist and Silverstream looked worry and uneasy.
"You weren't clear of my message at all. I've already given my answer. I will not serve Azure Phoenix." Skysoar snapped furiously at Blazefist. And only him; He can tell that Silverstream didn't wish to work with him.
"Like it or not. I'm taking you to him! You are the key of bringing order to Qin Dynasty!" Blazefist said furiously to the defying one.
"I know. But I'm afraid Qin Dynasty or Azure Phoenix will not control the land. Lord Virtue Dragon is. So, begone; Fire Attack!"
Skysoar ducked down at once. Smolder fired her dragon flames and Sandbar used the Fire Magic Paper at Blazefist. The crimson Pegasus panicked in shock and fear of the attack. Luckily, Silverstream quickly pulled Blazefist's tail as she flew up to the sky.
Both Blazefist and Silverstream sighed in relief.
"You'll regret for turn against my lord. Lord Azure will have your head! We'll be back!" Blazefist scowls furiously and determined.
Smolder calls out to Silverstream in worry, "Silverstream! Come with us! Don't work for the bad guys!"
"Yeah! You don't have to do this." Sandbar said with a nod. He hopes Silverstream would at least come to her senses, even though she already did.
"Come on! Come back!"
Silverstream sighed, "Sorry. I wish I can, but Headmare Twilight needs me more than I need you. Don't worry, I'm not alone. Take care!"
Blazefist and Silverstream flew off at once as they're returning to Xuchang Province.
Blazefist turns to Silverstream suspiciously. He demands, "Why didn't you do it? Why didn't you go with them? You could have escaped."
"I could. But I know Gallus and Headmare Twilight needs more help than my own. I won't abandon them." Silverstream explains calmly to the nasty future Mystic Pony. It's not that she would've used the chance. Twilight and Gallus needs her right now.
Blazefist sighed, "You're a very strange Hippogriff I ever met. You'd be dead by a second if any Imperial Phoenix Officer find suspicious about your decision of staying with us."
"Hey!"
"Lucky you; I won't kill you since you're my second-in-command now. I'm counting on you, hippy pinkie."
Silverstream smiled as she hugged Blazefist. She teasingly spoke, "Aye-aye, Captain Hothead!"
Blazefist groaned in annoyance, "I hate it when you call me that..."
As soon as Blazefist and Silverstream flew away from the thatched cottage, Skysoar and his guests remained firm and worry.
"What is next?" Virtue asks in concern, wondering to do now. Blazefist doesn't like the response at all, and it won't be long before Azure and his forces will come.
Skysoar narrowed his eyes firmly as he spoke, "Prepare for the next battle. Azure Phoenix will send the best ones to finish us off. And by the best - I meant One-Eyed Anger, Blazefist, Strict Stalker and Laxtinct."
"Ugh. I hate this." Applejack remarked with a sad groan. "Why can't we y'all just get along?"
"Unfortunately, everyone is being meanies and jerks than we were if we were turned evil by a nasty wicked pony and only Spike is one of the few whom we tortured wickedly." Pinkie explains, getting disturbed looks from her friends. "Of course, that's just me."
"No time for the randomness, Pinkie." Ben said to Pinkie seriously. "Things are about to get serious from here on in."

Blazefist and Silverstream have returned to Xuchang Palace. They all reported to Azure Phoenix and the rest of his allies and warriors.
Azure Phoenix narrowed his eyes as he speaks, "Such a waste... No matter. Time to see what he's made of. One-Eyed Anger, Strict Stalker, Blazefist and Laxtinct," He then called by their leader, the generals stood out and bowed before him. "You will have 100,000 soldiers to lead. Anger shall be the leader of the vanguard units, Strict Stalker will be his Second-in-Command, Blazefist will be guarding the supply cargo and Laxtinct will be the scout. Your mission is to bring down Virtue Dragon and his allies. Capture Skysoar Intellect. I want him alive."
Anger smirked proudly while bowing. He speaks, "Don't worry, cousin. I do not intend to lose this so-called 'Sleeping Dragon'."
"Before you leave, take Fluttershy with you. When you're in dire situation, use whatever you have to do. She can take it."
"Me," Fluttershy spoke in horror and alarm.
"Azure, with all due respect, are you nuts?" Spike spoke to Azure in worry. "Fluttershy may be one when provoked, but deep down, she isn't a fighter!"
"Right, you're putting Auntie Fluttershy in a matter she isn't good at!" Nyx said in agreement.
"Do not worry. Anger will 'take care' of her." Azure spoke calmly to the two protesters.
Anger hummed before showing reluctant and concern, "Understood. I may not like what you have in mind, cous..."
"Lord Azure. With permission, I would like Gallus to help Fluttershy. Just in case if she doesn't get lost during the battlefield." Twilight said calmly. Needless to say, a certain griffin doesn't seem thrilled at this.
"Me; Why," Gallus ask Twilight in disbelief.
"I'll tell you later."
Azure Phoenix hummed suspiciously, "Very well. And do not worry, Anger knows what he's doing. By two months, I want the army march out. Dismiss."
Imperial Phoenix Officers and Advisors left the palace at once. Twilight gestured her friends to move out while held Gallus to stay put. Though reluctant and worried, her friends nodded and left it.
As soon as everyone left, Twilight can have private discussion with Azure Phoenix and Gallus.
"You didn't want Fluttershy there as a warrior. You're gonna use her as a hostage against them, weren't you?" Twilight remarked suspiciously to her mentor/friend. It's no surprise that Azure will pull a crazy stunt like this....again!
"What; how could you?!" Gallus scowls angrily at Azure. He would've tear his eyes out if Twilight haven't kept him back.
"I wish to test Skysoar's ability. I want to know how good and intelligent he is. If he truly is that intelligent as Schemetrick, then I must deal with him. Be captured alive or dispose of." Azure explains calmly to the two, unnoticing or caring by Gallus's anger or disrespect towards him.
Gallus groaned, "That doesn't mean you have the right to use her like hostage! I won't allow it! I can't believe that I have respect for you! I was told that you're the most bravest and greatest leader in history, but now I found out of how cruel you really are! If you think you could get away with it, I'll just have to bash your head, you asshole!" Azure Phoenix summoned and aims his Imperial Phoenix Sword at Gallus's throat. He gulped, "Should have shut my mouth."
"If you want to protect Fluttershy so badly, then work very hard to protect her. Even if it means to sacrifice your life; But I will ask you this. Which quotes do you choose - mine or hers?"
"What are you saying?!"
"'I rather betray the world than let the world betray me'." Azure explains calmly to the upset griffin. "From what I can tell about you, you will betray and abandon your friend to live. That's what you and your Griffonstone are good at."
Gallus gasped, "Never! Guess what?! I rather let the world betray me than betray them because Friendship is Magic!"
Azure Phoenix smirked as he taunts, "Prove it then..."
"Fine... I will..."
"Azure..." Twilight said, getting more worried. Somehow, she wishes that she could just leave and forget this monster that would become the Azure that she knows; But what then?
"Do not worry, Oracle. Anger knows what he's doing." Azure explains in assuration to Twilight, "If I wanted her dead so badly, I would have done it when she came to my home. How stupid do you think I am?"
"Making sure I stay with you till the end, no doubt. But I already told you that I will."
"We shall see..."
As Twilight turns to leave, she gave an angry scowl towards him secretly. Somehow, the Alicorn princess is beginning to question if it's all worth it at all.

Two months have passed...
Inside the living chamber, both Blade Dragoon and Warpath were annoyed and frustrated ever since their older sworn brother invited Skysoar to the army. Virtue became very close and friendly to him a lot. Both Rogue and Twinkle Star were with their adopted fathers. They're worried and uneasy.
Starlight and Sandbar entered the chamber as she spoke quickly, "There you are! Everyone is gathering at war council. Azure Phoenix is making his move now! We've gotta be prepare for repelling the invasion."
"Why should we?" Blade Dragoon asked Starlight with a rude scoff.
Warpath scoffed as well, "Yeah. After all, brother has 'Sleeping Dragon' to deal with them. We're gonna rest and enjoy our relaxation."
"Indeed. We're saving our strength when we're really needed."
"Father," Rogue spoke, a bit shocked by his father's attitude problem.
Twinkle Star spoke in disbelief, "How could you be so selfish?!"
Starlight groans in disgust, "Unbelievable! What is wrong with you both?! You both trust Master Cooler, why not Skysoar?! He is smart too, you know."
Sandbar gasped, "I get it! You guys are jealous!" Everyone yelped in shock and surprise. He smirked. "Admit it. You're jealous of Skysoar Intellect!"
"That makes sense. You reminded me of somepony else when I make a new friend."
"We are not jealous!" Blade Dragoon and Warpath spoke in protest, yet the tones in their voices seem to suggest otherwise.
Virtue entered the living chamber as he shown angry and annoyed looks.
"Then, you wouldn't mind prepare the army?! This is not the time to fool around!" Virtue snapped at the two sternly as he frowns. "Skysoar relied on his intelligent while you two have brute strength. If you combined them together, we can overcome the threat together."
"Brother..."
"Go and prepare it now!"
Blade Dragoon and Warpath grumbled in annoyance and anger as they marched out at once.
Rogue sighs as he turns to Virtue, "We're so sorry for fathers' behaviour."
Twinkle Star nodded while apologizing as well, "We'll make sure that they get the job done, uncle."
Rogue and Twinkle Star headed off at once.
Starlight sighed, "Wow... That doesn't bode well. I hate to imagine that in battles, they will probably ignore Skysoar's order and screw the mess up."
"Yeah. I hate to imagine if we lose this fight." Sandbar said in concern. If they lose this fight, it may make things even worst!
"That's what worries me..." Virtue spoke out seriously. He fears the worst if that were to happen.

Virtue returned to the war council as he was talking to Skysoar, Master Cooler, Ben, Saber and Applejack about the problems he has.
Master Cooler sighed, "I don't understand. They trust me yet they trust you? I felt they're being unfair to you, Skysoar."
"Yeah, I know some ponies whose make the same mistake as they do." Applejack comments as she shakes her head.
"Eh. Ponies, whatcha gotta do?" Phobos remarked with a shrug. He yelps upon Applejack giving him an annoyed look. "Hey, not like that, AJ!"
"Watch it, Moon Dragon!"
"What can we do?" Virtue asks, wanting some ideas.
Saber pauses to think then he spoke, "Well, if you're the leader of the army, you should pass sword and seal to Skysoar as the proof for you accepting and trusting him to lead the army. And therefore, uncles have no choice but to obey. Think of it as Skysoar is you, if they disobey his command, then they're not dishonoring him but you, father. And it means you have the right to demote them."
"How would you know?" Phobos asks Saber curiously.
Saber took and show ancient military book as he explains, "I read the manual, genius." He turned to Applejack and Ben. "Is he always a smart alerk?"
"Oh, more than you know." Ben admits, rolling his eyes at Phobos's smart aleck comments.
"When he's with Nyx, the two are likes peas in a pod....a very disable pod." Applejack admits to Saber, recalling Nyx and Phobos's friendship.
"That's Phobos. All talk; no bites."
"Hey!" Phobos exclaims, a bit annoyed by the remark.
"Impressive, Young Master Saber; Very impressive; you might become a strategist." Skysoar said to Saber, impressed with his idea.
Saber chuckled uneasily, "Not really. I'm just following the rules. That's all."
"Right, well, ever get the saying "Buck the Rules, We're Doing What's Right'?" Ben ask Saber who looks at him oddly. "If not, it should've been made by not."
"Or 'Screw the Rules, I Got Money'. At least, that's how rich ponies does it." Phobos comments with an amused chuckle.
"Yeah, I think they get it....or not."
"Maybe... Or maybe more than that, son... Either way, I believe that's the best source to make sure my brothers follow your every command to succeed our mission." Virtue said with a nod. At best, his brothers will follow Skysoar regardless of their attitude.
"Good. Here they come." Skysoar said, seeing a group coming towards them.
Virtue Dragon's Forces have arrived at the war chamber. Military Officers stood on right lane while the advisors and Ben's Team on left lane. Ben, Applejack and Phobos headed to the left lane while Saber headed to right. Dragonspear approached to the war council's table.
Virtue stood up as he raised sword and seal. He announces, "Before we begin, I want to make an announcement. I'm passing these items to Skysoar Intellect as the Commander-in-Chief of the army. And therefore, you will take orders from him. Failure to do so mean you won't just dishonour and fail him, but only me. I will either demote or execute you. Do you understand?"
"Yes, sir," The army exclaims as they bows towards Virtue. Blade and Warpath looks on in chagrin at this. Why are they not surprised?
"I'm trusting you, Blade and Warpath."
Blade Dragoon and Warpath sighs in defeat, "Yes, brother..."
"Let us begin the war council. Dragonspear, what do you have to report?" Skysoar ask, turning his attention to Dragonspear first.
Dragonspear nodded as he placed some chess pieces on the map. The map shown the picture of small hills, forests and grasses. Imperial Phoenix Army pieces were placed on the north while Virtue Dragon's pieces on south.
Dragonspear explains as he points a hoof at certain locations, "Our scouts have confirmed the enemy positions. Anger is leading the army. Among his officers are Strict Stalker - Second-in-Command, Blazefist and Laxtinct were there as well. Fluttershy and this new recruit called Gallus are there as well. They're currently marching on Serpent's Tail Outskirt."
"Fluttershy; what the heck is she doing there?!" Applejack yelps in shock and disbelief. Fluttershy is no warrior, only when she has to do so!
"Yeah; Fluttershy is a peacemaker, not a warrior! She could get killed by any second. Could be us or them!, Pinkie exclaims meekly and alarm.
"Oh great; Bad enough Azure is doing all this horsecrap, now he's doing this to Fluttershy!" Phobos exclaims angrily as he threw his claws into the air in disgust. "What is this world coming to?!"
"Worst things, very, very worst," Smolder said to Phobos seriously.
"No. We can fight them." Ben motions but slams his hoof onto the table furiously, "Damn that Azure! He knew we wouldn't fight her."
"Don't worry, everyone. As long we can achieve our goals, your friends will not be harmed. I promised." Skysoar said calmly to the ones worried. They are concerned about hurting Fluttershy and any of their friends caught in this madness Azure has made.
Blade Dragoon hummed seriously, "If you don't mess it up..."
"Yeah; otherwise, you'd be no better than he is." Warpath said to Skysoar sternly.
Rogue and Twinkle Star scolded, "FATHER!"
"Honestly you guys?" Sandbar asks, rolling his eyes at the brothers' usual attitude.
"Give him a chance, for bucking out loud!" Ben scowls at the two who just scowls in annoyance towards him.
Virtue spoke out sternly, "Enough with this talk nonsense! Skysoar, can you provide strategy?"
"As you wish," Skysoar respond, putting pieces on the battlefield map. "Rather than fighting them head on, we'll use both fire attack and ambush on them." Skysoar turned and looked at the officers and advisors. "Blade Dragoon and Applejack, you will take 1000 troops on the hill to ambush the enemies. Warpath Temper and Pinkie, you will lead 1000 troops from the forest to burn down the supply depot. The fire attack will be your signal to engage. Saber Dragoon, Rogue Dragoon, Twinkle Star, Phobos and Sandbar; you will take 500 troops and prepare fire attacks When enemy entered and advanced deep into the forest about the dusk, you will set the fire. Dragonspear and Sandbar, you will lead the vanguard but when you encounter the enemy, pretend to lose and must not win, lure them deep into the forest. Lord Virtue and Master Valorheart, you'll lead the reinforcement to assist him. But like him, you must pretend to lose and lure them deep into forest. Master Cooler will make sure that everyone follow and execute plans. I will remain here to guard the Xin Castle, along with Starlight, Hook and Bullock as guards. This plan has been set. There can be no failures..."
Everyone sans Blade Dragoon and Warpath bowed as they spoke, "Yes, sir."
"So, that's it? You'll stay behind to hide while the rest of us will risk our necks for this bloody battle!" Blade Dragoon exclaims, not impressed or happy by Skysoar's strategy. To him, it's more like he's a dirty coward!
Warpath huffed, "Sound like unfair if you ask me."
"Father, please!" Rogue and Twinkle Star protest to their father in concern.
"Come on, guys, stop this!" Starlight scowls at the two, not wanting any fight.
"Right; you want Virtue to throw you out of here?!" Phobos scowls, but yelps as the mentioned two gives him death glares. "Hey, come on!"
"Still...."
Skysoar calmly interrupts Starlight before turning back to the protesting ones as he points out, "May I remind you the sword and seal I have been given from?"
"Brothers, that is enough. You must follow Skysoar's plans to win this fight, whether you like it or not. That's an order." Virtue said to the two sternly, making them groan. They hate it when he pulls rank or such on them!
Blade Dragoon grumbles, "Very well. We shall follow your plan."
"If we screw this up, I'm gonna kill you for it!" Warpath snapped at Skysoar furiously. If this whole thing turns to Hell, he will be given Hell!
"Rest assure, generals. We can win this fight." Master Cooler assures to Blade Dragoon and Warpath calmly. As long as they used Skysoar's strategy, victory is assured.
"You all have been briefed. Dismiss. Prepare for war!" Skysoar orders as he dismissed everyone. It won't be long before the enemy gets here, and they must be ready for when they do!
"Yes, sir," Everyone exclaims, bowing before heading off to get ready.
Sandbar turns to his group, asking hopefully, "Think we can win?"
"We can, Sandbar. I just hope we avoid fighting and hurting Fluttershy and Gallus." Ben said to Sandbar calmly.
"Yeah, but what if the unpredictable happens?" Starlight asks before turning to Pinkie, "Pinkie?"
"Hey, even my Pinkie Senses can't predict what would happen that far." Pinkie reminds Starlight in worry. "And that's what scares me."

The army of 100,000 Imperial Phoenix have began their march to Xin Castle of Jing Province. They were led by One-Eyed Anger - the commander of the vanguard, Strict Stalker as his Second-in-Command, Laxtinct acted as the scout, Blazefist was guarding the supply cargo, and both Fluttershy and Gallus as the privates. They all have arrived at the Serpent's Tail Outskirt. Anger ordered his army to halt at once. They all halted at once, right in front of the forked road - left road is the forest while right road is completely empty and rocks only.
"Which was do you think it's best, Strict?" Anger asked calmly.
Strict Stalker hummed calmly while looked at the forked road carefully, "I think it's best that we should avoid entering the forest, and use the right road to the XIn Castle. I fear there will be an ambush."
Anger nodded while hummed thoughtfully, "Yes. You could be right about it..."
SCREAMED! Imperial Phoenix Army yelped in surprise to hear the battle cry. It came from the left road, where Dragonspear and Sandbar emerged, along with 500 soldiers. They all stood firmly and proudly before the enemy troops.
"What's this? This can't be the army they have to fight us. This is a joke!" Anger exclaimed in annoyance and disappointment, "And to think that Oracle Twilight worries for nothing. What a disappointment! This pony doesn't even possessed any talent at all! This will be easy than I thought"
Dragonspear scoffed, "I wouldn't be certain of that. Prepare yourself, General Anger."
Anger smirked, "Fine by me. I will capture Virtue Dragon and Skysoar Intellect alive! Prepare yourself!"
Dragonspear nodded, "I am ready for it!"
"Dragonspear, remember the plan!" Sandbar reminded Dragonspear.
Dragonspear nodded firmly. He nudged his white Speed Dragon as he charged and engaged with Anger, who also charged and had a clash with him at once. Both sides of their army cheered wildly and proudly to their officer to win the fight. They both held the attack for the moment before departed. They both swung their spear and scimitar in clashing and striking down at each other for ten times. Dragonspear thrust his spear at Anger, who dodged down and swung his scimitar at the former's throat, which was barely missed.
Dragonspear 'grunted' in fake tone, "Damn it! He... He's too strong! 'There's no way I can hold him longer'!"
Sandbar shouted in fear, "Dragonspear, run! Run now!"
Dragonspear grunted in defeat, "Fall back! Fall back!"
Order has been given, Dragonspear led the army to escape at once while Sandbar used the bow and arrow in firing back at Anger and some of his troops, who barely dodged the surprise attack.
Anger scoffed in disappointment, "Retreating?! Really?! You've disappointed me! Hunt them down!"
Anger led the army to chase after Dragonspear and his soldiers into the forest for a few meters. Sensing danger ahead, Laxtinct moved to the front and talked with Anger.
"Wow there, sir! Don't chase after them! There could be an ambush!" Laxtinct exclaimed in concern and worry.
"Like this? Attack!" Virtue's voice shouted.
Virtue Dragon, Ben and the soldiers charged out from the forest. Both of them swung their twin blades and Master Sword at Anger, who blocked and held the attack for the moment, The one-eyed general glared at them both.
"So, we meet again. I've been looking forward to capture you both alive," Anger said firmly, "And trust me, I will win!"
Ben smirked, "Think again!"
"Let's do it. I'll cover you!" Virtue said firmly.
Virtue cried as he slammed his one of twin swords at Anger's scimitar, allowing Ben thrust his Master Sword at him. Anger trotted backward at once before swung his scimitar at them both. They dodged down while blocking and deflecting his multiple attacks. They both clashed and held Anger's attack for the moment. The one-eyed general screamed firmly as he pushed and thrust his scimitar ahead, making both yelped in surprise while being pushed back. He then swung his scimitar at Virtue's head, luckily Ben came and blocked the attack. But he got his head kicked by Anger, who then slammed his scimitar at Ben but he got blocked and pushed back by Virtue.
"We must fall back now," Virtue said firmly, "We cannot hold him!"
Ben nodded, "Don't need to tell me twice!"
Virtue and Ben gave the order to their army to retreat at once. They all entered the forest at once.
Anger scoffed, "This is a joke! Ambush or not, we will not miss that chance. All unit, attack and hunt down Virtue Dragon! But leave Ben Valorheart to me. I will take his life and head personally."
"No!" Fluttershy and Gallus gasped.
Strict gasped, "But my lord, you mustn't! Lord Azure has-!"
"If my cousin thinks that Ben is not a threat, think again, I will not let him get away with it!" Anger snapped angrily, "All unit, attack! Take him down! Blazefist, remain behind. Fluttershy and Gallus, you're with me!"
"I've got a bad feeling about it," Laxtinct said in concern.
"Gee, you think!" Gallus asked sarcastically and annoyingly.
Anger led most of his main unit and charged into the forest. Strict Stalker, Laxtinct, Fluttershy and Gallus followed him at once. For more than few meters have passed, the sun began setting down. Anger and his army still haven't found any sign of Virtue Dragon and his allies. There was no sign of him. Regardless, they all remain firm and guarded to keep their eyes sharp on anything. The dark forest scared Fluttershy, making Gallus to pat her in comfort.
Worried the danger ahead, Laxtinct marched towards Anger and said, "General Anger! We should pull back now!" Anger groaned before glared at him. He yelped meekly, "Wow! Wow! Wow! Don't start the argument with me! I really got bad feeling about this. We're too deep in the forest. There might be really ambush up ahead!"
Strict looked uneasy and worried, "He might be right. The road is too narrow, and its covered in forest! We need to fall back now before it happens."
Anger grunted in anger as he hated to retreat but knowing there will be an ambush, "All unit, halt! Fall back now! Fall back now!"
Order has been given, Imperial Phoenix Army quickly halted at once while turning and moving around to fall back. Unfortunately, the road is too narrow for them to do so. Anger was in shock and worry of what he just saw. It might not be good for them now.
Saber, Rogue and Twinkle Star were hiding behind the forests, along with Phobos, Smolder and 500 soldiers. Seeing the enemies are in positions, three teenagers stood up and shouted, "FIRE! BURNT DOWN THE FOREST!"
With order has been given, Virtue Dragon's army thrown some lighted torches on the forest while the dragons fired their Dragon Flames. The forest has been lighted up and burning in blaze. It shock and scared Anger and his army. The Imperial Phoenix Army got panicked by the surprise attack.
"Damn it. It's a trap!" Anger snapped in frustration, "All unit, fall back! Fall back now!"
Anger and the rest of Imperial Phoenix Army struggled to move back and escape while fighting back their enemies as well. Gallus protected Fluttershy by kicking and deflecting his spear in knocking some soldiers aside. Seeing the flames burning on the forest, Blade Dragoon and Applejack signaled and led their army to charge and attack their enemies from the hill. Warpath and Pinkie led their army to attack and burnt down the supply cargo. Seeing the attack, Blazefist got shock and surprised as he struggled and fought back to defend the supply. Unfortunately for him, most of supply cargo have been burnt down.
Seeing Virtue Dragon's Forces and Saber's Fire Task Force are marching and surrounding his army, Anger grunted in anger and frustration as he realized that he has underestimated his enemy. He has no choice but to use his last resources.
"Fluttershy, I need you on the front line. Get us out of here now!" Anger ordered firmly.
Gallus gasped, "What?! You want us to get killed?!"
"No, I need her ability." Anger said firmly. He then grabbed and held Fluttershy up, "Listen to me carefully, Private Fluttershy. Because if we don't get out of here soon or even at least, stopped the enemy, they will burnt down all of us down and even the animals. Is that what you want?!"
Fluttershy gasped in concern before showing firm looks, "No! I can't let that happen! I can't!"
"Fluttershy, don't!" Gallus gasped, "You'll get hurt!"
Fluttershy moved to the front as she used her 'Stare', which put a great shock on Virtue Dragon's Army in freeze state. It scared the hell of them. This given Anger and his allies a chance to escape. They also moved some woodland animals to safety as well. Strict quickly grabbed Fluttershy and joined his allies. Imperial Phoenix Army have made their escape, and leaving the group behind.
Virtue Dragon's Army snapped out of shock and freezing state. They all chatted and muttered in concern of what happen. Virtue, Dargonspear, Ben and even Sandbar have arrived to the scene. They looked shock and worried.
"What happen?" Virtue asked.
Blade Dragoon groaned, "We almost have Anger and his allies here. But..."
"That little shy pony did something on us. What the heck was that?" Warpath asked in concern.
"The Stare. That's her unique and strong ability," Applejack explained painfully while rubbing her eyes, "But now I know why Azure wanted to have her here."
"She's their escape plan," Pinkie said in shock and concern.
"I'd never want to look at her eyes again..." Phobos said fearfully, "It gives me the creeps."
Smolder quivered in fear, "Now I know why so many animals afraid of her. She's damn creepy and scary with her Stare."
"But we didn't capture them alive," Saber said in guilt, "Forgive us."
"No. There's no need to apologize," Virtue said calmly, "I'd say this is our first victory for defeating Azure Phoenix's army. It was all thanks to Skysoar Intellect."
Master Cooler smiled, "I agreed. He got us through it." He turned and looked at Blade Dragoon and Warpath, "I believe you two owe him a lot of apology and mess."
Everyone turned and looked at Blade Dragoon and Warpath, who turned in red and embarrassed of what they have done to Skysoar Intellect about his strategy. All of them then laughed amusingly and happily at Virtue's Sworn Brothers.

Virtue Dragon's Army made their way back to Xin Castle, where they were greeted by Skysoar Intellect, Starlight, Lady Marvel, Bullock and Hook. The strategist smiled proudly and happily to see his allies have returned to home safely.
"Congratulation, my friends and generals!" Skysoar congratulated and bowed before his allies, "You have done well to follow my plans."
Blade Dragoon shook his head before bowed humbly, "No. Thank you, Master Skysoar. If not for your strategy, then none of this could have happen. It's just Master Cooler has said, you're indeed a great strategist."
Warpath laughed happily, "Yeah. If you need anything to complete your plan, you can count on us. We won't let you down."
"All of us will," Dragonspear said firmly, "The next battle we meet with our enemies, we will succeed."
Starlight sighed, "Well, it's about time you guys finally get along with him. So, what's next?"
"Next is we make some necessary preparation," Skysoar said firmly and calmly, "Azure Phoenix will not let us off that easily."
Virtue sighed while nodded firmly, "I agreed. We'd best make preparation now. And maybe, Lord Sozin could help us to fight him back."
Skysoar nodded, "Let us hope so. Our next fight will not be easy as you think..."
"No matter what fight we get into, we will win and defeat Imperial Phoenix Army. My friends and I will get ours and Twilight back. That's promise," Ben said firmly, "I won't lose her again."
Virtue smiled as he held Ben's hoof while looked at him, "I promised that we will help you, my friends. You have my word."
Ben smiled, "Thanks, Virtue."
Skysoar hummed suspiciously while looking at Ben, "That is what worries me the most..."

Anger and the remaining of his vanguard have returned to Xuchang Palace. They made the report to Azure Phoenix about their latest failures. Everyone remained calm and firm to see how he react to the report.
"We indeed have ingenious yet dangerous enemy to face with. If Schemetrick were here, he would have dealt that problem as ease," Azure Phoenix said seriously. He turned and looked at Fluttershy and Gallus. He continued, "I've made a right decision to send you both to help Anger. Thank you both. Sergeant Fluttershy and Corporal Gallus."
Fluttershy and Gallus looked surprise yet relieved as they bowed down, "Thank you, my lord."
Azure Phoenix turned and looked at Twilight, "I told you that Anger will protect her, and never had her killed."
"Maybe... But I'm keeping an eye on you..." Twilight said firmly.
"We shall see," Azure Phoenix said calmly. He turned and looked at Ratio and Woren, "Tell me. What is the status from Jing Province?"
"Lord Sozin is growing weaker and sicker, my lord. Sooner or later, his successor and corrupted officers will surrender to us rather than helping Virtue to fight back," Woren said calmly and proudly, "They're suspicious of Virtue Dragon and his allies will try to take over Jing Province for themselves."
Ratio nodded, "This will be indeed our advantages to trap and defeat Virtue Dragon for good. But for now, I suggest that we should recruit and train more troops. We cannot afford to make same mistakes again, my lord."
"Master Ratio is right, and so do you, my lord," Snaptrap said calmly, "We're indeed dealing the greatest threat in the Land of Ma. We cannot afford to lose them."
Azure Phoenix has his eyes narrowed firmly, "No. We cannot..."
