It was a normal day in Ponyville, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and everything looked very peaceful. In Ponyville, there was a purple alicorn princess walking around named Twilight Sparkle. She was just enjoying a nice stroll through town when she suddenly found a book. Curious by its random appearance, she stopped and levitated it up.
“Hmm, that’s strange. What’s with this book lying around here?” She wondered why it was laying there, as she looked around her surroundings trying to find the owner.
Suddenly, she felt something grab her hoof and as soon as she felt it, she got pulled away. “Gahhhhh” She screamed as she got yanked until she ended up hanging upside down on a tree.
“W-What’s going on?!” She panickily said until she started hearing familiar giggles. “Oh no, not this again.” She grumpily exclaimed. “Should have realized it was a prank.”
Their laughers grew louder as they came out of the bushes. Two ponies came out from hiding. A tomboyish cyan pegasus named Rainbow Dash and a pink ball of energy named Pinkie Pie.
“Oh man, you should see the look in your face as you got grabbed.” The cyan pegasus laughed uncontrollably. Pinkie Pie nodded and laughed alongside Rainbow Dash.
“Ha Ha, very funny.” She said sarcastically as she teleported herself out of the tree.
“Come on Twi, it’s just a prank.” Rainbow Dash giggled.
“Yeah, and we got you good.” Pinkie Pie agreed as she gave a hoof bump to Rainbow Dash.
Twilight said nothing at first, before rolling her eyes in disgust and sarcastically saying, “Yeah sure, that was a great prank.
Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie continued to laugh at how successful the prank was which started to annoy Twi the more they laughed. Eventually she teleported away, after saying her goodbyes
“Oh no, did we go too far Dashie?” Pinkie wondered.
“Nah, relax. Twi will forgive us later, she just needs time to cool off like always.” Rainbow answered.
“Yeah, I suppose you’re right.” Pinkie giggled.
Later that day, Twilight arrived back home to the Golden Oaks Library, to contemplate all of the events that had happened. She was all by herself as Spike had been away on an important business trip.
“Those two always like to pull pranks on everypony all the time. I wish there was someone who could teach those two a lesson.” Twilight ears perked up after she said that and she smiled sinisterly at her own words. She started to search her library, looking for the perfect book.
Ten minutes later, she found just what she was looking for, a work titled “Pranks for Eggheads.” She sat down by the table and started to read every page of every section of every paragraph of every chapter and everything that book had to offer. Eventually, she decided to go with the prank under Chapter 7 Paragraph 12 Section 3. Titled “The Horrifying Ghost of the Forest”. The requirements are: This spell book, potent magic, and of course a forest. Twi has the book and the powerful magic to perform the spell, but she would need a forest. She hesitated, due to the risks of going there, but she decided to use the Everfree Forest. Now there was one thing left to plan, how to get her friends where she needed them for the trick. After thinking about it for a while, she decided to fake a friendship problem that’s in the Everfree forest. She forged a fake message on a scroll and quickly rushed to Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie acting extremely worried.
She quickly rushed to find them and found them at Sugarcube Corner.
“R-Rainbow, P-Pinkie. Emergency message from Celestia!” Twilight panted as she gave them the scroll. Both of them looked at Twi with concern, while Rainbow placed her hoof on Twi to calm her down. “Relax Twi, now please tell us, what’s the emergency.”
Twi looked at Rainbow a bit teary eye, as she levitated the scroll to the pegasus. The blue mare grabbed the scroll and read the emergency. Dash kept the same expression throughout her reading. Once she finished, she closed the scroll and looked at Twi with a smirk. "So, this is the thing we have to worry about? Come on Twi, this creature doesn't seem like it'll be an issue at all. I’ll take care of this with one hoof tied behind my back."
"You don't understand Rainbow, this creature can not be hit by anything physical. No matter what you would try to do, you can't hit it, but it can hit you." Twilight explained
"Oh, I'll find a way to hit it. Let's go to the Everfree forest and show that creature what we're made of!" Rainbow yelled as she flew to the Everfree Forest as fast as she could, while Twilight and Pinkie Pie followed her as best as they could.
Rainbow Dash reached the Everfree Forest first and landed in a small clearing, looking around the area and hoping to find this mysterious creature. As Dash observed her surroundings, it gave Twi and Pinkie time to catch up. While they approached, the two could see the cyan pegasus standing still but moving her head, due to her searching the area. Eventually, she notices Twilight and Pinkie drawing closer to her, and the pegasus mockingly called, "About time you two showed up. I've been waiting you for far too long."
The comment drew a glare and a snarky remark from Twi, "Well excuse us for not being as fast as you. I'd like to see you try to find us in a dark forest."
Rainbow rolled her eyes to Twi's remark as she started to fly, slowly scanning the area, before she looked north. Pinkie looked in the opposite direction, as Rainbow Dash while Twi looked West. The three of them continued to search for the creature. Slowly, but unknowingly to Dash and Pinkie, the creature is nothing more than a lie, all set-up by Twi as when she got far enough away from them. She jumped into the bushes quietly, without giving any hints to where she went. Twilight grabbed her book and used a spell to keep her location completely hidden from Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash.
After an hour of searching, the pink and blue mares ran into each other with no signs of the creature anywhere. Pinkie began to notice that she hasn't seen Twi around in a while which gave her a shiver of fear. Dash blew it off saying, "Twi is fine, she can take care of herself no problem at all". However, the very moment she said that, a loud roar could be heard, a roar that caught them both by surprise as they both jump up in fear.
"W-W-W-W-W-W-W-W-W-W-W-W-W-W-What w-was t-t-t-t-that?" Pinkie stammered, trembling with dread.
Dash tried to make an excuse saying, "I-It w-was just a harmless bug that can r-roar. Y-Yeah that." She was trying to keep her cool, while her terror can still be clearly seen.
The creature roared again, but louder than the last time. This noise was so loud and scary that it made both of the two friends paralyzed in fear. They said nothing, as their pupils shrunk and they looked around trying to find where the source of the roar is coming from. but to no avail. Suddenly, the forest’s trees begin to blow from the wind and a giant creature began to form; slowly but surely revealing itself as it came out of a tree.
The giant, ghostly creature resembled that of a pony with tentacle like mane but with no eyes to speak of. It was fifty times their size, and it’s screech was almost ear piercing. The sudden appearance by this monster completely froze Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie in their tracks. The two were left screaming in complete fear, as they didn’t know what to do, other than stay there, hoping it wouldn’t notice them. They soon realized how pointless that plan was, as it got closer and closer to them with each passing second. Unbeknownst to them, Twi was right behind that tree, holding back her laughter to how well the prank was working. After just a few seconds of screaming, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie collapsed on the ground, unable to take the fear they were experiencing, they fell unconscious.
Once Twilight heard the screams disappear, she stopped the spell and, almost in an instant, the horrible beast had disappeared. She popped out of the bushes and checked the unconscious ponies, cautiously approached them to see if they had been faking their reaction. She poked them both for a few minutes, and checked any signs of them pulling one over on her, but none appeared. Twi then smiled and laughed out loud, happy to finally succeed with turning the tables on the two. She proceeded to quickly teleport herself and her friends back to her library. Placing them on the floor before creating two buckets filled with cold water. She looked at their unconscious faces once more, before waking the two up with icy water
In an instant, the two quickly woke up from their slumber. Their entire bodies reacting to it, like they just got electrocuted. It was quite a wake up call for the two pranksters. “Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”, they both yelled, as they observed the surrounding area and releasing a sigh of relief once they realized they we safe. Once they had calmed down, Twi explained the whole thing and showed proof that she did in fact prank them.
“I-I don’t believe it…We actually got pranked…By Twi of all ponies.” RD pondered aloud at that fact, her mouth staying open and her eyes unfocused, walking away and then sat down
Pinkie trotted over to the cyan pegasus sitting on the ground; speechless, before letting out a soft giggle leaving RD even more confused than before.
“Yeah, it’s strange that we got pranked by Twilight but you have to admit. She pranked us really good.” Pinkie expressed.
“I get that Pinkie! But the fact that it was Twi that pranked us...It just feels awkward.” Rainbow Dash responded.
“Instead of thinking about Twi being the one that pranked us, we should focus on the fact that Twi did prank us. I think it’s super-duper awesome that Twi joined us in being a prankster.” Pinkie let out a smile to Rainbow Dash who turned around from her comments.
“Yeah, you’re right. It is really awesome that Twi did pull off a prank.” Rainbow slowly smiled, as both stood up and looked at Twi. “Hey Twi, I’m sorry for reacting the way I did. I just couldn’t believe an egghead like you could pull of such a prank, but I was completely wrong. You’re one incredible prankster and I’m happy that you can be one whenever you want to.”
Twi smiled and giggled from the remark. “Well, it’s not something I’m going to do nearly as often as you two will do it but I must admit, it was absolutely funny to play a joke on you two the way I did. It was a lot of fun to pull off such a prank.”
RD softly smirked at Twi’s response with Pinkie jumping for joy in the process. “And that was one of the best pranks ever!” the pink mare loudly exclaimed. Twilight and Rainbow were silent at first, but eventually joined in on the fun. The three of them laughed in enjoyment and shared their various high jinks. After Twi’s very first big prank, RD and Pinkie never took Twi’s practical joke skills for granted ever again. It was a moment they would never forget.
