//------------------------------// // The Harvesting Time // Story: BloodHeart Cherries // by BronyWriter186 //------------------------------// One day in the middle of a large forest three friends were running around when the ran into a large tree with red heart shaped leaves, the three colts remembered what one of their friends told them about a tree just like this one. “Hey, Golden Wing go up the and see if there are any ripe fruit,” the earth pony colt said. “Why is it always me? Why can’t Blue Glow use her magic to grab the one on the branch right there? Or how about you, Lunam Lacus, you are the son of an Apple,” Golden Wing complained. “Because that one isn’t ripe and we all know we can’t be seen with these. Aunt Twilight would kill me if she caught me with a BloodHeart Cherry. Also you can fly, oh great son of SpitFire, captain of the wonderbolts,” Lunam Lacus replied. “Fine,” Golden Wing huffed. Golden Wing flew up the tree to check for any ripe fruit. “Um, Lunam Lacus what do they look like when they are ripe?” he asked. “They should be a deep red, it should be shaped like heart, and have seven large green spikes in a ray arrangement,” Lunam Lacus reminded him. “Okay, I can see three ripe Bloodheart cherries up here. Do you want me to grab them all?” Golden Wing asked. “Yes, but be careful not to touch the spikes, they are painfully sharp,” Lunam Lacus said. “Duh, of course the spikes are shar-OWW!” Golden Wing said. “You touched the spikes didn’t you?” Lunam Locus sighed. “WHAT DO YOU THINK?” Golden Wing yelled. “Will you do stop fighting? Lunam just move the branch out of the way so I can use my magic to grab them,” Blue Glow demanded, “Also why do I always have to be the mediator between you two?” “Because out of all of us you are the most mature,” Golden Wing answered. “Ugh, it was a rhetorical question. Even I knew that,” Lunam facehoofed. After Golden Wing moved the branch for her, Blue Glow charged up a spell her Aunt taught her to grab fruit from trees while helping Lunam with his work on his family farm, Sweet Apple Acres. “Why is it not workin- nevermind only remember an Earth Pony can harvest BloodHeart Cherries,” Blue Glow remembered from her agronomy class. “But if I buck the tree any ripe fruit will fall...unless,” Lunam started to say when he started to look up towards Golden Wing. “Nononono, you remember what happened last time I flew while carrying you,” Golden Wing said, realizing what Lunam was thinking. “Unless Blue Glow knows a levitation spell you’re the only option we have that won’t get us caught,” Lunam smirked. “Fine, but first Blue Glow, can you perform that strength spell that I told you about?” Golden Wing asked Blue Glow. “I have been practicing it but I am not sure how effective it will be,” Blue Glow stated. “Just cast it on my whole body,” Golden Wing asked, “Please.” “I will try, but I can’t guarantee that it will work,” Blue Glow said as she cast the spell on Golden Wing. At the same time in Canterlot “Your Highness, I believe that the use of BloodHeart Cherries should be legalized. It has been found to have useful medical properties,” Doctor Whooves suggested to Princess Celestia during her day court. “As much as I value your input in matters of Science you do not have a medical science degree so I must say until you have undeniable proof or a well-known doctor can back your claims they shall remain illegal,” Princess Celestia stated. “I knew that would be a problem that is why I brought my old roommate from college with me Doctor Horse,” Doctor Whooves stated, “He was stopped at the door. May I go get him?” “No need,” Celestia said as she charged up her horn, a couple seconds later Doctor Horse was teleported in front of Princess Celestia. “So, Doctor Horse Doctor Whooves says that BloodHeart Cherries can be used for medical purposes, is this true?” “Yes, Doctor Whooves and I have found that BloodHeart Cherries can be used to prevent horn and wing cancer, prevents dangerous heart conditions, strengthens the tendons of the hearts of almost every race of creatures, and last but not least it acts as a nature steroid in almost every species of animal and every race of creatures,” Doctor Horse confirmed. Back in the Forest with the three young ponies Golden Wing grabbed ahold of Lunam and started to fly him up to the lowest of the BloodHeart Cherries. “Okay, when you have it off the stem toss it down to me I will catch them with my magic,” Blue Glow told them. When they got to the the lowest ripe fruit Blue Glow got a message that was sent to every single member of a family in government positions, her mom was the Mayor of Ponyville. However for Unicorns it comes through their horns. At the same time Lunam just dropped the cherry. “Oww,” Blue Glow was thrown back by the recoil of the spell the just hit her horn. The cherry was smashed on the ground. “Blue Glow what happened?” Lunam asked, sincerely. “Shh,” Blue Glow said while reading something in front of her face, her face slowly turned into the face of someone who just won the lottery,” Moon Apple, I need you and Golden Wing to go get as many baskets as you can carry. We are rich!” “Let’s go Golden Wing we need to go NOW,” Lunam said, “She is serious. She never uses my real name!” Lunam Lacus and Golden Wing went to Sweet Apple Acres to grab his Aunt Applejack, Uncle Big Mac, and his parents Applebloom and Button Mash to help ‘bring in the harvest’ a new crop. “What are you taking us to harvest, son?” Button Mash asked Lunam. “The newly legalized BloodHeart Cherries. Blue Glow got a message from Princess Celestia directly stating that BloodHeart Cherries are legal to grow, sell, and use,” Lunam answered. After the family got to the BloodHeart Cherry Tree they noticed that 10 more fully developed trees replaced the several oak and pine trees near it. Blue Glow used a spell she read about to speed grow trees from a tree splice. For the next three hours the seven of them gathered as many BloodHeart Cherries as they could carry, with Golden Wing flying back and forth between Sweet Apple Acres and the trees with baskets of BloodHeart Cherries.
