Chapter 1

Equestrian Legends: Dawn of a New Beginning

Prologue

Hi, journal. Been awhile since I’ve written in you lately, what with the whole saving the world. I still couldn’t believe me, my little brother, Sparx, and my bbbff would be the saviors of our world. Oh? You forgot who my big brother is? Silly journal, how did you forget Spyro. Well, adopted brother, along with me. Though back then, neither of us knew that. We actually thought we were just like Sparx; dragonflies.

It’s still hard to think how silly and oblivious we were being back then. Not realizing we were actually completely different species. It took encountering these nasty creatures called apes, and a meeting with a great old fire dragon to learn what we really were. Who we should have been! It was also interesting to meet others close to our age as we went through our journey. Others who became our friends and still are at the time I’m talking to you. We’ve had so many great parties…..oops getting off track again.

We got to meet another with the old fire dragon who became our first friend, we were taught by this friend and the old one to use the element of fire and how to fly. Then we wooshed out to save the day by rescuing a bunch of other old dragons and the other younger dragons who were following them. It was a really fun adventure filled with learning the other three main elements of ice, earth, and electricity and making new friends.

We also taught those nasty apes just who the bosses are around here. They are so mean. They are a bunch of meanie pants. I can’t believe I ever thought I could throw them a party. They are too mean to make friends with. We also saw these weird flying bird creatures that kept trying to carry us off. Luckily we were able to scare them away with loud noises. So we basically fought off a bunch of dangerous monsters, apes, and other creatures.

What was strange and scary was to learn that they were all under the control of this great big black dragoness, who everyone called The Terror of the Skies. It turned out her name was Cynder and we met her on more than one occasion. She tried to get rid of us multiple times and we always seemed to escape in the nick of time. Except that once where I got separated from Spyro. Actually, that’s how I met that other purple dragon who looked like my brother, though he was even funnier than my brother, and he kept saying odd things like skateboards and video games. He helped us through the rest of our journey before he returned to his home through the portal system.

It turned out that in the end, Cynder wasn’t the great big evil mastermind that we all thought she was. Instead, after we beat her she turned into a young dragoness our age. Apparently, she was being controlled by this big scary monster thing that called itself the Dark Master Malefor. We still don’t really know who this Malefor is or was just that it’s still around and out there somewhere. I hope that we don’t have to fight it anytime soon. I’m still rather tired from the big adventure we just finished.

Signed, Twilight Sparkle.

Ps. I also found where I’m from. Apparently, I was found around a portal near a scary forest with a huge head injury that caused me to lose my memory. Soon I and Spyro are gonna head there to see who I was to them.

Twilight closed her journal up just as Spyro turned the corner into the room as he gave her one of the smiles that he had just for her, “Hey Twilight. Have you seen Cynder around anywhere? The guardians haven’t seen her all day.”

“No. Sorry Spyro. I was just been reminiscing about the past and how our adventure started.” Twilight said, looking up to the night sky. “Sometimes I wonder what our lives would have been like if they hadn’t shown up. Also, I still can’t believe I thought I could fly like you when I have no wings.”

Spyro let out a small chuckle, “Yeah. I had to carry you all over the place and you’re not as weightless as you seem to be. You’re actually quite heavy.” He teased.

“Hey!” Twilight shouted, throwing a ball at Spyro with her magic, *I’m not as heavy as you mister ‘i must eat my weight in food’. My back nearly gave out when I had to carry you after you went unconscious when we were tackling Dante’s Freezer. That ice skeleton guarding Volteer was not fun to fight by myself.”

Spyro easily sidestepped her ball of magic as he let out a shrug, “I’m a growing dragon what else would you expect from my eating? Besides, I’m not the one who went crazy from eating those mushrooms that I told you weren’t safe when we were younger.” He looked up at the two huge twin moons in the sky, one of the blood red. His body shivered as he looked back at her, “I don’t think that we should head out for your village just yet, it feels like something big is going to happen any time. And I’m rather concerned about Cynder.”

He looked back at her after a moment in silent contemplation before asking quietly, “Would you be alright if were to wait on the portal thing for another week or so to see if things calm down here?”

“Fine. But you are going on a diet. I’m not going to make you my triple cheese gem crusted jalapeno pizzas until you lose that gut.” she said sticking out her tongue.

He frowned and looked at his body, upon seeing he didn’t have a gut at all, he looked at her with an exasperated look, “Really twi-” he started before he was cut off from the water balloon hitting his face. He ended up face-clawing as he shook his head, “and to think this all started when we were trying to have a water balloon fight 5 months ago in our old home.” He started to reminisce on what happened completely ignoring Twilight.

“Yeah. Sometimes I wish we could go back to the time when we were painfully oblivious ‘dragonflies’ again. “She said with a sigh as she leaned against her brother. “Those were fun times.”
