Sonata wasn't sure why, but after the basketball game, she was exhausted. She managed to stay awake while eating dinner but she went to bed as soon as her family got home.

Sonata found herself standing alone on a moonlit beach. There was something familiar about this beach. Looking up, Sonata caught sight of the full moon, she saw the silhouette of Nightmare Moon looking back. She was in Equestria!

"My sweet, sweet Sonata," a voice said in the moonlight, "it pleases me that you are the first."

Sonata turned around and found herself face to face with a very beautiful woman, Sonata didn't recognize her at first, but the crown atop her head gave her away.

"Mother," Sonata said with a touch of hostility. The last time she had seen her mother, she had tried to kill her and her sisters. 

"I know that i did some horrible things to you and your sisters," Soprano Harmony said, "and I don't ask for your forgiveness, but I come with a warning for you and your sisters."

"What kind of warning?" Sonata asked as she inclined her head.

"Both the world you now call home and Equestria face a threat that could destroy both worlds" her mother told her, "I have given you and your sisters the power that you will need to face this threat." images of Sunset Shimmer, Pinkie Pie, the rest of her friends, even Scootaloo, floated in the air between them, "look to your friends and family for guidance and strength. You won't have to face this challenge alone"

Sonata woke with a start. The morning sun was just beginning to peak over the horizon. Tiberius was currently curled up in a ball of fur at the foot of her bed. He looked up at her, yawned and went back to sleep. Sonata reached out and stroked the scruff on his neck. She could remember dreaming, but she couldn't remember what her dream had been about.
