Ah, Canterlot. Home of the noble ponies and, most important, the Princesses Celestia and Luna, the Sun and the Moon.

What about Sunny and Moony? Those are good names!

Anyways, let's continue. The time had arrived, and Nightmare Night was going to be celebrated, so Princess Luna asked for making the night longer (for the party, not for another reason), and Princess Celestia gave her permission to do it.

At Canterlot, the moonlight bathed the corridors. At Ponyville, ponies had already decorated the town and were getting their costumes.

But let's get back to Canterlot. Not because of the Princesses. Not because of Nightmare Night.

Actually, we're going to focus on a certain Pony. Or, more exactly, a certain Batpony.

Jimmy Hook, a Female Lunar Guard-

Wait! How can a Female have a Male name?

I don't know, Pinkie. Maybe she likes that name.

Oh. That makes sense.

Anyways, if Pinkie doesn't interrupt me again, I'll be able to tell this story about Jimmy Hook's first Nightmare Night.

This is getting exciting!





Jimmy Hook, a Female Lunar Guard, was perched beside a pair of doors in Canterlot Castle.

"Well! I already checked the hallways, didn't detect nothing and stood here, beside these doors. Not having any problem, like the last 200 days... Booooring!"

Jimmy looked around, finally spotting something.

"Oh, where are my manners? Hi there, dear reader! My name is Jimmy Hook, and I'm a Bat Pony. If this wasn't a story, I would be shaking hooves with you. Or do you have claws? Or maybe hands? Whatever, it's so nice to meet you."

"Ok, so you'll probably want to know more about me, right? Let's see. I'm a female Bat Pony. Don't worry, I don't drink that. I have black fur with a pair of wings and red eyes, like most of the Bat Ponies. My mane and tail are red and black, and also purple for some reason. And no, I'm not Moondancer. I also have a pair of cute fangs! And my Lunar Guard Armor, which is also cool. Don't touch it, ok? I just don't like that! Oh, and my mane goes through the top of my helmet. Others put their helmets on and their manes stay below, but my mane is special. Anyways, that's me! So, any questions?"

And now, back to the story...





Jimmy Hook was right: her time at Canterlot had been rather boring for the last 200 days she had stayed as a Lunar Guard. She wanted some entertainment. Not villains, although the last one surprised Jimmy because it was... a filly.

No, Jimmy wanted to have fun: games, ponies, whatever. And she couldn't choose a better night than Nightmare Night.

"Well, I guess I could also celebrate it! But... where?" Jimmy said, thinking.

Canterlot? Nah, she didn't think the noble ponies would like to be in costumes.

Ponyville? Well, she hadn't seen Ponyville since a long time ago.

"That's it! I'll go to Ponyville. I just need Princess Luna's permission."

And she went to the throne room in search of the Princesses.





Doing a small summary, Jimmy encountered Princess Luna and told her everything: Nightmare Night and her intentions of going to Ponyville. After thinking about it, Princess Luna agreed with Jimmy, saying that she had time until Nightmare Night was over.

Of course, Jimmy couldn't contain her happiness and gave Princess Luna a nice hug before saying goodbye and disappearing, leaving the Lunar Princess with a smile on her face.

"That guard won't stop surprising me." She said, giggling.





Some time later, the train arrived at Ponyville. Ponies were amazed to see a Lunar Guard was in the train.

"Ah, finally! Here I am!" Jimmy expressed, looking at the tranquil town. Pumpkins and fake cobwebs adorned the houses as ponies were in costumes. Every disguise was well-made, and Jimmy liked it.

"Wow... Ponyville is such a nice place for celebrating Nightmare Night." Jimmy wondered.

Approaching the Town Hall, where everypony was, she heard a scream and looked around, only to see a shocking event.

"Ah! That mare is burning!" She exclaimed, scared.

"Nah, don't worry. It's just a special disguise." The mare replied. Before Jimmy could ask, the mare jumped into a basket full of water with floating apples. The water extinguished the "flames" as the mare revealed her true identity.

"Well, that was fun, don't you think?" Sunset Shimmer said.

"Haven't you got hurt?" Jimmy asked, confused.

"That's my favourite costume for Nightmare Night. The flames are a vision created by me. And it always works." Sunset replied.

"That sounds great! Then, let me say your costume is so cool." Jimmy claimed, making Sunset laugh.

"Oh, thank you." Sunset said. "Well, I guess I'll stay over here."

"No problem. I'll be going now. Have a nice Nightmare Night!" Jimmy said.

"You too!" Sunset said, before hiding under the water.

As Jimmy kept wandering around, Sunset spent a nice time scaring others thanks to her costume.





At some point, Jimmy encountered Twilight and her friends, disguised as monsters and villains (except for Pinkie, who was dressed as a cupcake). However, Fluttershy and Rarity were nowhere to be seen.

"Hey, Twilight! I knew about you and your friends. You have come to Canterlot quite a few times, so I can't forget." Jimmy said.

"Oh, hi there, Jimmy! Why have you decided to visit Ponyville?" Twilight asked.

"Well, these days have been rather boring for me, and I didn't know what to do. But then, I heard Ponyville was celebrating Nightmare Night, so I asked Princess Luna and she let me come!" Jimmy replied.

"That's awesome, Jimmy!" Rainbow exclaimed.

"Heh, indeed it... wait, where are Fluttershy and Rarity?" Jimmy asked.

"Well, Fluttershy told us she would be at her cottage, but we dont know anything else about her. As for Rarity, I have no idea." Twilight explained.

"Maybe she went to Manehattan, for seeing how her boutique was doing? Or looking for gems? I could try and make a Diamond Cupcake!" Pinkie said.

"Spike says he didn't see Rarity at Carousel Boutique, so Ah guess she isn't here." Applejack said.

"Oh, by the way, where's Spike?" Jimmy asked, because Spike wasn't there.

"He is having fun with Big Mac and Discord. In the meantime, we're trying to-" Twilight was interrupted when two small black hooves erupted from the ground.

When the rest of the body came out, everypony was terrified: it was Apple Bloom, but her body was completely black and her mane was a mess. She shrieked loudly, making the others scream.

"Wow! Ah didn't think Ah would be able ta scare them!" Apple Bloom exclaimed happily.

"Ooooh, it was a simple joke for Nightmare Night!" Pinkie said, giggling.

"I have a question: how the hay have you come out of the ground!?" Rainbow asked.

"Oh, Ah had some help!" Apple Bloom answered, still happy, as her help walked towards them.

"And that was another prank by The Great and Powerful Trixie!" the magician shouted. "Oh, and Applejack, remember the pumpkins you prepared for a game? There has been a small incident, and Cheerilee got her head stuck in one of them."

"Oh, Ah'll go there! Thank ya, Trixie!" Applejack said before leaving.

"Anyways, I'll also go away. There's a show I must attend!" Trixie said, teleported away.

"Oh, Ah think Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo mentioned somethin' about goin' ta the Corn Maze. It has been transformed into a more technological thing!" Apple Bloom said, and she ran away.

"Wow, that sounds nice! Maybe you all would want to come to the Corn Maze?" Jimmy asked.

"Uuuum... Sure! Why not?" Twilight answered, and the others agreed.

"Ok then, let's go!" Jimmy said, and they walked to the Corn Maze.





After a while, they finally arrived at the Corn Maze. Apple Bloom wasn't lying: it was technologically improved. A sign beside the entrance mentioned things about the attraction, including the presence of animatronics inside the maze, and there were carts going along a rail, transporting ponies through the maze.

"Ok, that was totally cool!" They heard Scootaloo, who was beside Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle. Scoots was dressed as a Changeling, and Sweetie's disguise was a robot version of herself.

"Have you already went inside?" Jimmy asked.

"Yep, and we enjoyed it! I would tell you what's in there, but that would ruin the surprise." Sweetie Belle said.

"What are we waiting for? Let's get in!" Pinkie exclaimed, as she pushed Jimmy, Twilight and Rainbow forward.

At the entrance, they saw the attraction's owners.

"Are you kidding me? Flim and Flam?" Rainbow asked, annoyed.

"Those are our names! I think someone didn't want to see us, brother." Flim said.

"Well, too late for that! We're already here! And we used some technology for improving Ponyville's Corn Maze!" Flam announced.

"Applejack told me about the times you two tricked ponies into believing what you said. Why should I ride in there?" Jimmy asked.

"For starters, your pink friend is on the cart already." Flam said, pointing at Pinkie. Jimmy, Twilight and Rainbow stared at her.

"What? It's cheap! Only three bits!" Pinkie said.

"Besides, on those times you say, something on our system was faulty. But we made sure every single piece of this attraction is correctly placed." Flim explained.

"Is there a reason for us to believe you're telling the truth?" Twilight asked.

"There's only one way to find out!" Flam said, as he got beside the buttons for the attraction, getting his hoof ready on the button for starting the cart.

After each one of them paid, Jimmy and the others went inside the cart.

"Ok! The main mission is to survive as you go through the maze from here to the exit. You have those fake unicorn horns so you can use them to shoot the enemies you'll find, aiming for the lights. You, try it!" Flim explained, encouraging Jimmy to try the laser horn. Jimmy fired at the first light she saw, which was located on Flam's hat.

"Nice shot! You gained 10 points for it!" Flam said.

"Wow, this is cool!" Jimmy exclaimed.

"Indeed it is! And now, the adventure starts. Good luck to you all!" Flam said, pressing the button, and the cart started working as it took Jimmy and the others inside the Corn Maze.





The cart went along the rail as our friends kept an eye opened.

Different animatronics appeared: first, a timberwolf tried to pounce on the cart, but they deactivated it. Then, they saw Big Mac as a mummy, scaring others, and an animatronic that looked like Angel Bunny.

After going through a tunnel with fake eyeballs, two animatronics appeared: a manticore and a bugbear. They fired at them with the laser horns until they stopped moving.

Some seconds later, Derpy went across the rail, from one side to the other, and disappeared.

"Huh... She was dressed like me..." Twilight said, making the others laugh.

There was a moment when they saw a familiar shadow moving.

"Um... Correct me if I'm wrong but... was that... Rarity?" Jimmy asked.

"I think so! If I'm not wrong, that looked like her shadow!" Pinkie said.

"Is she part of the attraction?" Rainbow asked.

"I don't know, but let's stay in the cart until the end. We'll ask her later." Twilight answered.

Just then, everything went dark as the cart went into an underground cave...





While they were going through the cave, the cart started malfunctioning and it accelerated, going really fast. They shouted, surprised by the sudden event, until the cart derailed and they fell down.

"Uh... Is everypony ok!?" Jimmy asked as she recovered.

"Yes! We're all fine!" Twilight replied, as they stood up.

"Ok, the exit is right there. Let's go." Jimmy said, and the others followed her towards the exit.

Outside, they found a shocking event: Ponyville was under attack.

"What!? What's happening!?" Twilight exclaimed.

"I see somepony! Is it Nightmare Moon?" Pinkie asked.

"I'm afraid that's not Nightmare Moon." Jimmy said.

Rainbow flew high as she looked at the dark figure at Ponyville.

"Oh, no... It's Rarity." She said.

"Something must have happened to her. Well, you know what we have to do?" Jimmy said, and she turned around.

"We have to save Ponyville!"





Ponies were running away horrified as Nightmare Rarity cackled.

"Oh, seeing them run is such a beautiful thing." She said.

"Maybe for you!" Rainbow said as she tried to kick Nightmare Rarity, who turned into a dark cloud for avoiding the attack, before transforming back.

"What do you think you're doing? You're weak against me!" Nightmare Rarity said.

"Well, she's not alone!" Jimmy was standing there, with Twilight and Pinkie.

"Oh, well... This night has turned to be even more amusing than I thought." Nightmare Rarity said, before firing a magic beam at them.

Twilight conjured a shield and blocked the beam. "Rarity, it's us! That's not your true personality!"

"Au contraire, darling! I feel even better than before! When Ponyville falls, I'll make sure the rest of Equestria follows its way!" Nightmare Rarity said.

"Not if we have something to say!" Jimmy said, and she flew towards Nightmare Rarity, avoiding the beams she fired, but she teleported.

"You're interrupting my time! I suggest you stop doing it... NOW!!" Nightmare Rarity stomped on the ground, making dark tendrils crawl until they grabbed Jimmy's left hoof.

"Ah! Let me go!" Jimmy exclaimed, trying to get free of the tendrils.

Nightmare Rarity, distracted while seeing Jimmy's struggles, didn't notice Rainbow chatting at her, and the Pegasus kicked her on the side. Meanwhile, Twilight and Pinkie helped Jimmy with getting rid of the tendrils.

"ENOUGH!" Nightmare Rarity shouted as she knocked everypony with a spell. Jimmy tried to attack her once more, but a magic grasp got her.

"My apologies, dear, but I cannot let anypony stand between me and my victory." Nightmare Rarity grinned as she prepared a spell, and Jimmy closed her eyes...

And then, she heard a bite and her enemy screaming in pain as she felt herself falling down, hitting the ground. She opened her eyes, and saw Nightmare Rarity caressing her flank.

"Wait, what?" Jimmy said, noticing somepony else flying around.

It was Flutterbat!

"Wow... She saved my life..." Jimmy thought as she stared at the vampire pony.

"Don't think you'll do that again, because you won't!!" Nightmare Rarity said angrily, as she tried to fire beams at Flutterbat, who avoided them.

With her distracted again, Jimmy and the others recovered, attacking their corrupted friend with all their potential. Nightmare Rarity wasn't prepared for this and, slowly, succumbed.

After some time, she finally fell unconscious after Rainbow and Twilight combined a hit to her head. She was defeated.

"Well... thank you all... We..." As she was the most tired, Jimmy passed out.





She woke up later, bandaged on a bed at Ponyville Hospital. Twilight and the others were there.

"Finally! She's fine! I told you!" Pinkie said.

"What... happened?" Jimmy asked.

"I guess you were so tired after the battle, so you fainted. We took you to Ponyville Hospital and Nurse Redheart has checked your injuries. Nothing really bad, just some bruises here and there." Pinkie explained.

"Thanks. What about Rarity?" Jimmy said.

"She's there. Ah carried her while the rest helped ya." Applejack said, pointing at another bed. Rarity was there, eyes closed.

"She's gonna wake up, right?" Jimmy asked, worried.

"Nurse Redheart has also checked on her, and she says Rarity will probably spend a little time here, but she'll eventually wake up." Twilight reassured.

"How are you feeling?" Fluttershy was also there, not turned into a vampire.

"Better, thanks for asking." Jimmy answered, smiling. Fluttershy nodded.

"You know something curious? That's my first Nightmare Night and I actually fought a villain!" Jimmy said, and the others laughed.

"Anyways, what are we gonna do now?" Rainbow asked.

"Oh, oh! Maybe telling Nightmare Night stories? I know it's over until next time, but that shouldn't be any problem!" Pinkie said.

"Sure thing, Pinkie. Good ahead." Jimmy encouraged Pinkie, who bounced in happiness.

"Okie dokie lokie!" Pinkie said, and she started telling a story while the others smiled and looked at her.

"Ah, such a nice Nightmare Night..."
