“Come on Twilight, you can do it!” Spike cheered on as Twilight struggled to do a spell.
“Okay, here it goes.” Twilight said as her horn started to glow. Spike felt a tingling sensation on his upper lip. A long, black mustache grew on his face.
“You did it! Spell number twenty five.” Spike said as he checked that off of the checklist. Twilight grinned happily. Her horn started to glow again, making the mustache disappear. She stood up and stretched her legs.
“Let’s go outside, we both need some fresh air.” Twilight said as she walked towards the door. Spike followed closely.
“How can you just be so blunt about this, you learned twenty five new spells in half a day.” Spike said as they walked through town.
“Is it really natural for a unicorn to learn so many spells so quickly? I know unicorns that struggle to do one simple spell in a week!” Twilight said.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s natural or not, as long as it make you happy and doesn’t hurt anyone you’re fine. Besides you’re the most talented unicorn I know.” Spike complimented. Twilight blushed.
“Aw Spike, that’s not true.” Twilight said bashfully. Spike nodded his head.
“But it is! Most of the unicorns I know can’t even get past the levitation spell!” He said. Twilight smiled happily. They both turned their heads when they saw a large group of ponies walking over to a large stage. In the middle of the stage, there was a blue pony with a purple hat and cape with stars on them.
“Come and be amazed by the great and powerful Trixie!” She shouted loudly, attracting more ponies over. Twilight and Spike walked over in curiosity.
“Watch in awe as the magnificent Trixie preforms the most spectacular feats of magic ever witnessed by ponies eyes!” Trixie shouted as fireworks exploded from her cart in display. Spike flinched at the noise.
“My my my, what boasting.” Rarity said in a snooty voice.
“Oh please, nobodies as magical as Twilight.” Spike said. Twilight glared at him.
“Spike hush, I don’t want any pony thinking I’m better than them.” Twilight said barely above a whisper.
“It looks like we have a nieghsayer in the crowd. Who is so ignorant as to challenge the magic ability of the great and powerful Trixie? Do you not know they are in presence of the most powerful unicorn in all of Equestria?” Trixie said.
“We don’t need her when I’m here being better then the rest of us.” Rainbow Dash said cockily. All of her friends glared at her. “Uh I mean, magic shmagic, boo!” She corrected herself.
“Just who does she think she is?” Rarity asked.
“Yeah we all know that Twilight is the most powerful unicorn in Equestr-mpphh!” Spike was cut off in the middle of his sentence when Twilight covered his mouth.
“Quiet Spike, I don’t want you to bring attentions to ourselves.” Twilight whispered to him. Spike looked around to notice a few ponies staring at them. He glared at them, making them quickly turn around.
“If you don’t believe me, you’ll believe when I tell you how I vanquished a dreaded Ursa Major!” Trixie said dramatically. The crowd gasped, making Spike roll his eyes.
“When all hope is lost, the ponies of Hoofington had no one to turn to, but the great and powerful Trixie stepped in, with her awesome magic, vanquished the Ursa Major and sent it back to the deep cave within the Everfree forest!” Trixie said, setting off more fireworks. Some ponies gasped in amazement while others rolled their eyes and scoffed.
“What a show off, she actin’ like she better then us with her fancy magic.” Applejack said. Twilights ears flattened at that comment.
“I’ll believe it when I see it.” Spike grumbled out. “Besides, Twilight is way more powerful than you’ll ever be.” He said cockily. Twilight snapped her head in his direction and shook her head.
“Spike no.” Twilight said through her teeth. Spike noticed the look of uncomfortableness on Twilights face.
“Oh would you look at that, the Princess is calling, we have to go.” Spike said as he started to back away. Twilight nodded her head and followed him. They soon made there way out of the crowd and enetered the silent streets of Ponyville. Everybody in town was a Trixie’s show.
“I’m sorry if I was forcing you to do something you didn’t want to do, but you need to show that ‘show pony’ whose boss.” Spike said confidently. Twilight shook her head.
“You saw how everypony looked at her, what if they think I’m a show off too?” Twilight said anxiously.
“But isn’t standing up for your friends with magic different than showing off with magic?” Spike asked.
“But it’s exactly the same Spike, I’ll be just as bad as her! All of our friends will hate me!” Twilight, tearing up slightly.
“Woah calm down, no ones forcing you to do this. If they were your real friends they wouldn’t care.” He said as he wiped her tears away. “Besides, no one would believe her unless a giant Ursa Major came walking down the street for her to vaniquished.” He said as they walked through town.
Snips and Snails walked behind them. “Hey Snails, you thinking what I’m thinking?” Snips asked.
“What is it called a flea market if they don’t sell fleas?” Snails said with his tongue sticking out.
“Yea- what no! Just follow me.” Snips said as he walked away and Snails followed.
Spike leaned on Twilights side as she peacefully read a book. Spike let his eyes close as he listened to Twilights soothing breathing. He almost fell asleep, but was interrupted when a loud bang came from outside. His eyes snapped open and he sat up. Spike looked over to Twilight to see she had put down her book and looked around confusedly.
Loud screams came from outside as the stomping got louder. A loud roar echoed through the town. Spike and Twilight looked out the window to see an Ursa Major making it’s way towards the library. Spikes eyes widened and he pulled on Twilights forleg.
“We need to hurry up and leave before the Ursa Major gets here!” Spike shouted as he pulled Twilight out the front door.
“Great and Powerful Trixie, you’ve got to vanquish the Ursa Major, it took a lot of work for us to bring it here.” Snips said as Snails nodded his head in agreement.
“Wait you brought that here?!” Trixie shouted in disbelief. Snips and Snails nodded there heads.
“Remember, you’re the Great and Powerful Trixie, you can do this!” Snips cheered her on.
Trixie swallowed nervously. “Yeah, piece of cake.” She said as her horn started to glow. A roped snaked out and wrapped around the Ursa Majors jaw. “See like I said, piece of cake.” She said cockily. The Ursa Major opened its mouth, letting the rope rip open with a big snap.
“Stop playing around a vanquish the Ursa Major!” Snails said. The Ursa Major stomped closer. Trixie’s legs started to shake.
“I MADE IT UP, I’VE NEVER DEFEATED AN URSA MAJOR.” Trixie shouted fearfully.
“WHAT?!” Snips and Snails shouted in unison.
“Twilight lets go!” Spike shouted as he tried to get to the train station, but Twilght just stood there. The Ursa Major lifted up its paw to strike at Trixie. Twilights horn started to glow and a small breeze wiped across the down.
A song like a lullaby spread through the town, making the Ursa Major lower its paw and rock back and forth sleepily. Her horn started to glow brightly and a nearby water tower got lifted up. The water got poured and it made its way over to a barn.
Loud mooing and shocked gasp inside the barn. The water tower was now filled with warm milk, making its way to the Ursa Major. The Ursa Major started to tip over as it fell asleep, almost crushing Trixie. With a struggle, Twilight managed to lift up the Ursa Major. Ponies stared in shock and awe at the sight.
She gave the Ursa Major the water tower, which was now being used as a bottle. It drank from the bottle as Twilight slowly put the Ursa Major back into its cave. Her horn started to dim as she caught her breath.
Everybody cheered at the amazing show. Spike rushed over to Twilight. “Are you okay, that didn’t hurt you did it?” Spike asked concernedly. Twilight giggled.
“I’m fine, that was just tiring.” She said. Spike let out a sigh of relief.
“That was awesome!” Rainbow Dash shouted.
“Heavens to Betsy! We knew you had an ability, but not that much!” Applejack said in astonishment. Twilight gave a scared look.
“Please don’t hate me.” Twilight begged.
“Darling why would we ever hate you?” Rarity asked.
“I know how much you hated Trixie showing off, so I thought-“ Twilight was cut off by Rainbow Dash.
“Whoa whoa whoa, magics got nothing to do with it. Trixie’s just a loud mouth.” Rainbow said. Rarity and Applejack nodded their heads. Twilight gave a look of relief.
“So you don’t mind my magic tricks?” She asked with a smile.
“Of course we don’t mind sugar cube, your magic is apart of you and it makes you who you are.” Applejack responded.
“And after whooping that Ursa Majors hindquarters, we're even prouder.” Rainbow Dash said proudly. Trixie cleared her throat.
“So how did you vanish that Ursa Major anyway?” She asked.
“When I left your show, I did a little reading on Ursa Majors. And that wasn’t an Ursa Major, that was an Ursa Minor.” Twilight said. Trixie’s eyes widened.
“That was a baby?!” She said in shock. Twilight nodded her head.
“And it was just cranky because someone woke it up.” Twilight said while looking at Snips and Snails. They both cowered back.
“Trixie will be back to show you off!” Trixie shouted as she let off one her smoke bombs. Once the smoke cleared up, she was running far out of Ponyville.
“Why that little...” Spike said as he was about to chase after Trixie.
“Let her go, someday she’ll learn her lesson. Now about you two.” Twilight said as she faced Snips and Snails.
“We just wanted to see some awesome magic.” Snails said. Snips nodded in agreement.
“Yeah and whats more awesome than putting the entire town in danger for a magic show.” Spike said sarcastically.
“You both need to clean up the entire town.” Twilight said. Snips and Snails eyes widened. The whole town was covered with broken wood and parts of houses.
“The whole town!? But it’s a mess!” Snips shouted.
“Well you should've thought about that before you let a Ursa Major into town.” Spike said. Snips and Snail grumbled and got to work.
Spike hugged Twilight tightly. “You’re my favorite unicorn.”
