//------------------------------// // A bad grade - the only chapter this needs // Story: A bad grade // by Xenont //------------------------------// "Okay class, now, I want you to listen very carefully. I am about to give back your exam papers, I want you to check through your papers for any mistakes." The teacher said, handing out a thick stack of worksheets to the class. "Some of you did really well, and some of you had off days..." Ha! I got a good feeling for this one! Twilight thought as she took her paper, turning it over with pride. I have studied so hard for this class test! But what Twilight saw on her worksheet made her think twice as she rubbed her eyes, making sure that she was looking at what was written clearly. Wait what?! Twilight stared blankly at her paper as she world around her started spinning. How did I fail!? She looked at the score again : 46%. There was no doubt that Twilight had failed. Twilight felt light headed as she placed the paper on the table, panting slightly. "Yes!" Next to her sat Sunset, who was really happy with her results. "Heh! 98%! That's a new high score for me!" She smiled as she looked towards her purple friend. "What ya get Twi?" She asked, unaware that Twilight had failed. "Erm Twi? Are you okay?" Sunset looked at the girl. "Hello?" She waved her hand in front of a stunned Twilight as Rainbow came running over. "Sunset! Twilight!" She yelled. "You would never believe this! I got an 'A'!" She waved her worksheet around."This is the first time I got above 70%!" She looked at her friends. "Hellllllo? Why aren't you happy?" She slowed down and looked at Sunset, who was staring at Twilight. "Hey, what's going on?"She asked. "Twilight?" Sunset tried again. When she got no reply, Sunset's eyes drifted to her test paper sitting on Twilight's table. "Oh no....." She held up the paper, reading it closely. "46%? Twilight....." Sunset lowered her hand, trying to comfort her friend, but Twilight stood up, grabbing her paper, staring at Sunset and Rainbow, a wild look in her eyes. "Don't 'Twilight' me!" She shouted. "It's over! It's all over!" She breathed. "I'm done! Failed! Argh!" She sat back down. "Go Away!" She balled her fists, crushing her paper. Sunset's heart skipped a beat at Twilight's outburst, but she quickly calmed down. "Twilight, it's oka...." Sunset began. "No, it's not okay!!" Twilight interrupted. "What do you know anyway? You were always Ms top of the class. Why? Are you here to gloat about my marks? Here to tell everyone that I failed Go on, you blabber mouth, you can tell the whole world! See if I care!" The bell rang as Twilight stormed out of the classroom, leaving Sunset in a daze. Although Twilight had said those words in a fit of rage and confusion, it hit Sunset badly. Very badly, in fact. Sunset slowly sat down, her eyes still staring at where Twilight had been. "Sunset?" Rainbow said. "Are you okay? I'm sure Twilight didn't mean to say any of that..." Sunset stood up, her eyes rimming with tears. "Yeah, the heck she did." Was all she said before she left for lunch, leaving the classroom empty with only Rainbow, trying to piece together what just happened. Rainbow walked into the crowed cafeteria. Oh...what just happened between them? Rainbow grabbed at tray as she stood in line, looking out for either of the girls. Spotting Twilight sitting alone at a table not far away, she instantly ran towards her, dropping her lunch tray. "Twilight!" Rainbow panted as she sat down. "Hey..." She rested her hands on the table. "Please don't be mad...but what happened that made you so mad?" She asked. Twilight, who looked much more composed than earlier, took a deep breath before explaining. "Well, I got a bad grade for my test....." Twilight said. "Then I realized that I had studied the wrong chapter! Silly me!" Twilight looked up. "Why?" Rainbow looked at her friend, unable to think of an answer. "Erm...." She said. "Well, you see, you kinda shouted at Sunset and she....." Rainbow scratched the back of her head. "Uh, she....." Twilight's eyes widened. "Oh dear, I didn't mean..." Twilight released what she had done. "I didn't mean to....I was just..." Twilight searched her brain on what to do next. She knew what she said to Sunset would affect her friend greatly. "How's she taking it?" Twilight asked, hoping for good news. "Uh, I don't know." Rainbow said. "She just walked out off the classroom, I didn't see where to..." Rainbow looked around. "But, she did seem fairly upset..." Twilight covered her face in despair. "What am I gonna do?" She asked. "I have never had a friend until I met you guys, I don't know what to do!" Rainbow patted her friend. "Lucky I know how." She stood up. "After school, just go and apologize to her, easy. I can be there for moral support if you like." Twilight nodded slowly as she continued to eat her lunch. Oh...I shouldn't at Sunset over a grade....I hope she forgives me..... As soon as Twilight walked into the classroom, she caught sight of her friend, resting her head on her arms, staring into blank space. Twilight slowly waked to her seat, avoiding all eye contact with Sunset. Oh, she does look upset...What have I done.... Sunset sat up as she took her pen, beginning to work on the assignment. "Okay class!" The teacher said. "Now, we are going to engage in pair discussion on the test that I handed out before lunch. I would like you to work with the person sitting next to you. You can ask them questions on how to do the questions you are unsure of." Twilight froze. What? What? Really!? I don't want to! I can't!!!!! Twilight's chain of thought was cut short when Sunset cleared her throat. "So are you gonna discuss or are we gonna wait until the teacher comes to scold our heads off?" Sunset asked, smiling slightly. "I'm so sorry!!!!!" Twilight cried as she looked at Sunset, causing the whole class to look the two of them. "Sorry...." She said. "I mean, I'm so sorry Sunset, I didn't mean to, I was just mad that I failed and, and...." Twilight felt her vision blurring. "...And, lemme guess, you studied the wrong chapter?" Sunset finished. looking at Twilight's shocked expression, Sunset shrugged. "Meh, I could tell by your answers. And I forgive you, one grade and an argument would never split our friendship up Twi. Now, do you need any help?" Twilight wiped her tears as she hugged Sunset. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Sunset fell back in her seat. "Thank you for forgiving me Sunset!" Twilight said. "And yes, some help from Ms top of the class would be great!" Sunset punched Twilight lightly as she took out her paper "Here, you have to take this number......." The two inseparable friends sat down at their seats, smiling as they discussed the class test paper that Twilight had failed.
