//------------------------------// // 2 - "Changing The Past" // Story: Twilight Prime (ONESHOT) // by EliteLenny223 //------------------------------// Starlight sighs as she looked towards YOU, in a very empty void with nothing but darkness. But there was enough light for her to be seen and for her to see she was an audience. She frowned before speaking up. “Truth is, it actually began when my first mind was towards revenge. It’s something I wished I never have done… but what would I do? The very first instance I was angered by Twilight and her friends was when she interrupted my plans… to better Equestria by turning one village at a time to having no cutie marks at all. It stopped at one village when Twilight looked into what it meant. In all the better sense, she was able to see past my values and… Here I am. “Twilight and the other Element bearers actually got Equestria to a better place than I did. All I had in my revenge was my past that a foalhood friend of mine had moved on so quickly. Firelight, my father, wasn’t home at the time. And of course if you know about the story I showed Twilight my past, this would be the moment.” Starlight looked up and used her magic before her surroundings started to fade in. That day in the village, she was able to trot to a house that’s just nearby her former home. She then eyed her figure at the time she took Twilight to see her set of events while Spike the Dragon was there with the two. Sighing, Twilight decides to turn to YOU. “This is where it gets very interesting. Well… I’ve steered you here.” Frowning, she felt herself fading from existence, and even looked at her hooves before looking back at YOU. “What Twilight did here for me was both selfless, and selfish since she decided to declare herself a part of my timeline almost entirely. But the sacrifice that was worth in her stay, would be from my actions. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to think it’s a bad thing or not. What I think happened, is that she only wanted to comfort me, to be more of a parent than Firelight would ever be. “Goodbye, readers. Our events are now about to unfold.” Starlight said this with a tear leaving her eye and a smile was made from her face just as she was fading. “So this is how it feels… to fulfill a purpose,” she muttered to herself just before she had completely faded. As the adult Starlight herself had already been witnessing from her filly self, the foalhood friend named Sunburst finally achieved his cutie mark. The time for him to move on had come and he bid his foalhood friend Starlight goodbye and joined his mother Stellar Flare. The little Starlight could only watch as she shed her tears in this. Twilight herself didn’t expect this story could make her sad herself. She never experienced this, but she placed herself in Starlight’s place. Though instead of thinking about her plans, she was saddened, and then she was given the chance to look at how Starlight is doing. The sight of the young filly Starlight crying made Twilight shed a few drops of tears from her eyes. Then she smiled before she suddenly ran inside the young filly’s home, just before hugging the young filly with her hooves. “There there… You poor thing!” “EH?!!” Starlight and Spike both exclaimed not believing what Starlight is doing. And Twilight noticed that the young filly Starlight wasn’t sobbing anymore. “Know what? I’m gonna be your mama. I’ll always be there for you… You won’t have to cry anymore.” After experiencing the pain of Sunburst moving on with his cutie mark, the young filly only felt happiness that a new pony had arrived to bring her joy as a mother. And this made the older Starlight gasp as a new surge of memories came to her. Soon, she was shedding tears herself and she couldn’t believe that the memories were all related to her past, being re-written as her old life was beginning to change, like a paradox. “OHHHHH!! My… All flowing… Mom…!! MOMMY!!!” Starlight cried out and ran in the house before hugging Twilight. The young filly version of herself was surprised but smiled when Starlight was hugging Twilight as the young filly was. Spike gulped at this and scratched his head, finding this quite questionable. “Uh… I don’t know if I should take this well or not?” Starlight pulls away from the hug and wipes her tears away, smiling at Twilight. “You’d… You’d do that for me? You’d sacrifice your life just to see me happy?” Twilight nodded. “I believe I… I had a calling.” “WAIT, WHAT?!!!” Twilight was shocked when she was being told by her alternate version of herself about this story that her cup almost spilled its contents of hot coffee held by her magic. “You’re telling me that you just… decided you’d take care of her young self?!! That’s gonna leave a catastrophe!” The older Twilight nods, feeling serious. “I know. Back then, I knew that the Existence would unravel on itself if I let it remain like that. That was why Starlight Prime back then had an idea.” Back in the past at Sire’s Hollow at Starlights old home, the older Starlight stomped her hoof down. “Okay, this is gonna break time if we don’t do something about it! If you’re really that smart in using magic, then listen.” Twilight gulps at Starlight. “Um… What do you mean?” “You dummy!” Starlight replied. “If you really wanna keep this choice to yourself, then we gotta restore and straighten the timeline out towards my new future. If we don’t, then overactivity of Quantum Theory-” “-would break time!” Twilight finished Starlight’s sentence feeling terrified. “Oh no! What have I done?! We… We gotta undo-” And she was stopped by Starlight who put her hoof on Twilight’s cheek, smiling at her. “Uh… Starlight?” “You wanted me to be happy and never experience pain like this again,” Starlight said. “I say, I wanna keep feeling this way. I don’t care if we fix the timeline and I get erased. I want this to stay, and that’s final.” Using her magic, she brought the scroll containing Star Swirl the Bearded’s magic spell in front of her before completely ripping it in half, rendering its magic useless as she lets go of her magic on it and it falls on the floor. “Don’t doubt on this, Twilight.” Twilight felt terrible realizing what she’d done. Not only did she change the past, but that put her in a situation that it was a permanent. Again, she started to shed tears, knowing not only that Starlight was right, but she felt regretful. “Starlight… I’m… I’m sorry. You’re right and… If you’ll disappear.” “I’ll disappear at peace,” Starlight said. “Um…” the young filly Starlight was looking at both ponies in confusion. “Are you Starlight too?” the young filly asked the older Starlight before smiling. “I’m Starlight too! Are we sisters?” Twilight then gently pushed the young filly away and got on all four hooves before coming beside the older Starlight. “I’m gonna explain it to you in time, but what you should know, was that this Starlight was sad, so sad that her friend left her behind.” She looked at the older Starlight and continued. “And that she needs so much more than just what she got out of life. That’s why she needs to go… to give you time to grow.” The young filly was then starting to cry at the older Starlight. “W-What-? I’ll… I’ll be alone… without a sister!” Starlight approached her young filly self and put her head to touch the young filly’s, feeling warmth out of the life her past self has. “You won’t be alone. The two of us are one and the same. We’ll both experience happiness and she’ll tell you some stories about me… how I learned that destiny isn’t about cutie marks and all that. But…” She looked at Twilight. “…it’s all about appreciating the magic of friendship. And soon, you’ll learn first-hand how it feels.” The young filly felt Starlight kiss her forehead and she quietly shed more tears. “Big… sister…” Starlight then looked at Twilight seriously. “I’m ready.” Twilight nods. “Let’s fix reality! Tell me which magic to use and let’s do it!” And closing her eyes together Twilight Prime - It took only a few moments when Starlight and I had agreed to use a purifying spell that could repair damages over the timeline, routed through the Tree of Harmony in case there was a change done in the past that could undo the same future I still knew. This was one plan Starlight had to make sure the changes were permanent and that there was nothing to break the flow of time. Star Swirl’s spells were really remembered, and she was dedicated to her own mission. And back then, her new mission of keeping the way things back then after my intervention to make her happy was something I’d never forget... Twilight Prime sighed as she drank from her own cup using her magic and looked upon her younger self. “My alicorn magic made it more certain that the spell would work, and it did. Once the cracks were remedied and fixed, she started to fade. She… didn’t say anything. She only smiled before she finally made peace with herself before fading away.” Shedding tears remembering those moments, she held magic on a handkerchief she had near her and wiped her eyes. “I figured back then I needed to be strong. Evidently throughout the years, I was. Firelight, Starlight’s father back then agreed that I would be her close caretaker. But deep between me and that young filly who I saw grew into a pure-hearted and strong pony, the bond between us was one of the best I could have.” Starlight then went beside Twilight before rubbing her head on her lover before briefly kissing. Gently pulling away, she felt content for a while there. “For good reason too. It’s like… Twilight and I are…” And the older alicorn raised an eyebrow before chuckling to herself. “I think you both know I already gave you both my blessing. But I advise you two let time pass some more. Equestria still needs the Princess of Friendship.” “I’m not the only one,” Twilight said, briefly rubbing her head on Starlight before approaching Twilight Prime with a stern look. “It took courage for you to actually raise Starlight for the better. And your knowledge of Friendship made you a mother that was a mother to be envied. Not only did you serve as a model for your actions, but that makes you so much a part of our lives. You might not be the Princess Of Friendship at this time, but you’re always welcome to take part of what Equestria needs. You know the ins and outs of your time. Maybe I could get opinions on you for what-” Twilight Prime chuckled. “I don’t know if I could actually help you there. I was very serious in raising Starlight that I’m really getting rusty in my knowledge for princess duties.” Then she raised her eyes up to think. “Hm… Now that I think about it…” She looked back down smiling at Twilight. “I shouldn’t deprive myself of feeling that way as long as I’m around. Maybe there’s hope for me yet!” This made the younger Twilight grin and was getting eager. “Then I think it’s time I bring you to Princess Celestia for that! There’s no other alicorn who best understands… both of us.”
