Wild Flights

II. Meeting The Wonderbolts

The next couple of days flew by in a flash, Rainbow continued to teach Spike about flying with no results. She would rub the side of her head in annoyance, there was the fact that she had to keep him from ever meeting Cloudchaser.

The cold voice, the fact that she just doesn’t care about any pony other than herself. Rainbow bumped into her one early morning, near Sugar Cube Corner. With the fresh winter snow on the ground.

“Hey, Dash,” Cloudchaser said, giving the cyan pegasus a smirk.

“Put in a good word for me yet?” She asked Rainbow growled.

“In your dreams,” Rainbow said, anger with each word spoken.

“Only Princess Luna knows about that. Wait, are you still mad about Soarin? Trust me, I had no idea that you liked him.” Cloudchaser said she placed her hoof on her chest, “Honest.”

“Please, you’re lying through your teeth. Spike is perfectly happy and I won't allow you to ruin it!”

“Well, you see Dash. I just hate happy endings, there are just boring and easy to see coming. The handsome stallion gets the beautiful mare after slaying the fearsome dragon. Personally, I like crushing those endings under my hoof, showing all those boys and girls that life isn’t a fairytale and I can’t stand to see Spike that happy.”

“It has nothing to do with you, I swear. It just all me, and I going to love every second of his heart breaking into little pieces. Well, Chao for now, Dash. Spike and I will meet sooner or later.” Cloudchaser said, a cackle escaping her lips.

Rainbow never knew that one mare could be so evil. The cyan pegasus wondered how small Cloudchaser's heart might be, a cold empty place, with only enough love for herself.

Inside Sugar Cube Corner, Rainbow saw Spike having breakfast with Limestone and Maud. The cyan pegasus guesses that Marble must be here somewhere, she sat down, overhearing the conversation.

It was nothing that important, only that he was going to be in Fillydelphia for the next few days. Rainbow noticed Maud giving her a stare, The Element of Loyalty had no idea what that stare was about. All of Maud’s expression looks the same, it was hard to tell when she was happy or when she was upset.

Rainbow took a bite from her cream donut, turning her head away from Maud, it not like she’s afraid of Pinkie’s sister.

Time kept moving on, soon it was time to wait for the train to arrive. One full day, from Ponyville to Fillydelphia, Rainbow was afraid she might die from boredom. Being trapped in a small space with no real room to fly around.

She saw many ponies waiting for either her train or the one that was heading to Canterlot. Spike soon arrived, carrying two brown suitcases in both of his claws. Rainbow could only raise her eyebrow at him.

“Really dude?” She asked

Spike didn’t bother to reply, sitting on her left side, where her hoof rested behind him. The ponies that passed by gave looks until Rainbow moved her hoof away, smacking the back of Spike’s head.

“Thank you, Rainbow. For well everything that you had done for me.” Spike said, Rainbow waved her hoof.

“Eh, it’s no problem dude. It’s what friends do.” Rainbow spoke, giving the male dragon a light punch on his arm.

“Rainbow, tell me the truth. Are you trying to set me up?” Spike asked Rainbow let out a laugh.

“What makes you think that?” She asked the dragon

“I was talking to Limestone and Maud early today and they told me they were fine for me to add more mares to my harem. I’m just wondering if I should put my A Game on or not.” Spike said

“Caught with red hooves, Spitfire and Fleetfoot. Just be yourself, that’s all you need.”

“And what about you? Do you want to win me over?” Spike asked

“What is this, a game of Twenty Questions?”

"Just to let you know. I'm a lady killer." Spike said, smirking at Rainbow, who only rolled her eyes at the male dragon.

"Sure thing, Casanova. Whatever you say." Rainbow said, watching the train pull in.

"Stopping at Ponyville, next stop Canterlot!" The train conductor shouted, with the stream from the wheels filling the air around the small train station.

Rainbow leans her head back in annoyance, she just wanted to leave. But sitting here, waiting. She even watched Spike leave to go indoors, from the strong winter winds that blew through the town. A soft yawn escaped from her lips, her eyes felt rather heavy, the cyan pegasus, kept moving around in the wooden seat, trying to find a comfortable spot.

Rainbow somehow turn herself upside down, with her head touching the ground, hearing the doorbell ring, caused The Element of Loyalty yet out a small yell. She fell to the hard ground, the cyan pegasus looked up with her rose color eyes to see Spike. Wearing his concerned about my friend face, while holding two cans of soda in both of his claws.

"Rainbow, are you feeling alright?" Spike asked

"Remember, I'm awesome, and awesome ponies are always alright. You know what happens if you look up awesome in a dictionary?" Rainbow Dash asked

Spike gave an eye roll at her, "Let me guess, there will be a picture of you."

"No, it's the definition of awesome. Which I am!" Rainbow spoke, using her two front hooves to point at her chest.

"Whatever you say, Miss Dash. Whatever helps you sleep at night." Spike said Rainbow let out a laugh.

"You're just jealous. That you will never get me as a girlfriend." Rainbow spoke, looking into Spike's eyes.

"Oh, is that a challenge Miss Dash. Then you are on, by the time we return to Ponyville, not only will Fleetfoot and Spitfire be apart of my harem, but you will too." Spike said

"Don't get cocky, pipsqueak. Let's make a bet, if you don't get with those three mares, then you have to umm, you have to... Rainbow spoke, tapping her chin in thought.

"Give Prince Blueblood a kiss." Rainbow finished.

"And if I win, then you have to wear whatever the girliest dress Rarity has ever made. Deal?" Spike said, Rainbow growled.

"Deal." She said, shaking his claw.

Stream from the train flooded the air, the wheels against the metal tracks rolled and the train carts shook. Rainbow held on her seat, feeling the train shaking, slowly starting to speed up.

Spike wrapped his wing around her, Rainbow’s face turn red while he held her close. She muttered under her breath, but stay close to her dragon friend.

From across the train, Cloudchaser looked over her shoulder seeing the dragon next to Rainbow Dash. She heard her twin sister let out a soft sigh.

“Something on your mind, sis?” Cloudchaser asked

“Come on, you can tell me.” She said in a soft voice, wrapping her wing around Flitter in a hug.

“Well, it’s about Spike… Are you sure I just can’t join his harem?” Flitter asked

“I’m trying to help you out sister. If you join a harem, then he’ll just forget about you. Once his heart breaks, then you’ll be his angel and then you two fall in love." Cloudchaser said, sticking out her tongue in disgust.

“I mean I like Thunderlane and you said you could help me. Then there was Soarin, I just think that it will be easier if I just talk to him.” Flitter spoke

“Please, I’m your older sister…”

“By one minute,” Flitter said

“Still older. Trust your older sister, hmm… The dragon is quite cute, I gonna to enjoy this.” Cloudchaser said

Flitter lean her head against the window. Cloudchaser walked up to the dragon and the pegasus.

“Hey there Cutie.” She gave him a wink. “The name’s Cloudchaser, what’s yours?”

“Umm… Spike.” He said, a light blush

Rainbow glare at him, the cyan pegasus grab his right ear pulling him to the side. He cries out in the pain, Rainbow threw him against the wall, she flapped her wings to stay in the air, while she places her two front hooves on her hips.

“What was that?” She asked

“Well, I always had a small crush on her. But, she just seemed to cool for me, but she thinks I’m cute! Maybe I have a chance with her.” Spike said joy filled his eyes.

Rainbow bit her bottom lip, looking away.

“Look Spike…” Rainbow started

“I just can’t believe it! Hey, do you think I have a chance with her?” He asked Rainbow let out a soft sigh.

“Well, it just…” Rainbow spoke

Spike learn against the wall, a goofy large smile on his lips.

“It’s Cloudchaser! Dash, she’s beguiling and spectacular and…”

“She using you Spike!” Rainbow almost shouted those words.

“It what she does, she feeds you lies until she gets what she wants and moves onto the next guy,” Rainbow said Spike fell to the ground.

The train bumped once again, Rainbow sat next to him.

“Sorry, you had to hear that.” The cyan pegasus said

“Don’t be, it’s the truth. No matter how much it hurts to think about it.” Spike said

They heard the doors shaking, Rainbow jumped in fright, hugging Spike. He let out a chuckle, holding her close. His claw ran through her mane, he gave her a light kiss on her forehead.

Rainbow pushes him away, using her hooves the brush her forehead, repeating ‘yuck’ over. She punched his arm, Spike gave her a light push, the train cart soon opened. Cloudchaser walked in, she gave a cold glare towards Rainbow Dash before stopping in front of Spike.

“So, how about it Spyro? You and I dinner tonight on this train cart?” Cloudchaser asked, waiting for the yes that is bound to happen.

“No thank you, I already have a date tonight, with the lovely Rainbow Dash,” Spike said

Cloudchaser and Rainbow’s jaws dropped at the same time. Cloudchaser let out a growl, she glared over at The Element of Loyalty for a second.

“Fine, enjoy your date Sic. Don’t worry we’ll be together soon.” Cloudchaser gave Spike a wink before walking away in a huff.

Rainbow soon broke down in laughter, she had never seen Cloudchaser that upset before, tears of joy ran down her face. Then her laughter slowly dies down, realizing that Spike basely asked her out on a date.

“Fine.” She said in a huff, “But don’t you dare tell The Wonderbolts about this.” Rainbow said, her hoof striking Spike’s chest.

“See you tonight… Dashie.” Spike said, leaving the enrage pegasus alone.

The night came faster than normal, well for every pony beside Rainbow Dash, for the fastest flier in Ponyville each second felt minutes. She was nervous, she wasn’t fancy or upper class like Rarity, she was upbeat like Pinkie and Rainbow knew she was not cute like Fluttershy.

But, here she was. Sitting face to face with a guy that she liked, while the two waited for the train food. Which is just a little bit better than whatever they serve in the Sandwich shop in Ponyville.

Silence overtook the pair, Spike’s fingers tapped against the wooden table, the loud tapping echo through the room. Rainbow slapped his claw, causing him to stop.

“This is the worst date ever!” Rainbow finally broke the silence.

“It up there. My date with Marble and Pinkie wasn’t that spectacular either, but I love both of them.” Spike said

“Heads up Spike might want to stop talking about your girlfriends if you want to score more,” Rainbow said

“Honesty is the best policy.” Spike quoted, Rainbow rubbed her forehead.

“You’ve been spending too much time with Applejack.”

“Rainbow, if Spitfire and Fleetfoot can't stand being in my harem it’s fine. But they must know before anything else. Manners Makes The Man and only a true gentleman will be honest to his date.”

“You are so doomed.” Rainbow said, her head hitting the table.

Fillydelphia, where there wasn’t a drop of snow during the winter. It was sunny, bright, but with a strong chillingly wings that blew through the town.

Two pegasi waited for the train to finally arrive. One on the left and the other on the right.

The pegasus mare on the left was Fleetfoot, with her moderate cerise color eyes, a light grey mane, and her coat being a light arctic blue color.

The other pegasus, the one that any pony who was any pony knew her name; Spitfire. Captain of The Wonderbolts, she had orange color eyes, her mane is a vivid orange with light brilliant amber stripes and her coat is the Brilliant color of gold.

“When is Crash’s train arriving?” Fleetfoot asked

“In about five more minutes. Be patient Flatfoot, the train will get here soon.” Spitfire spoke

"But it feels like it has been forever!" Fleetfoot whined, Spitfire only rubbed her head in annoyance.
