Chapter 2: The prophecy of the night (Part 1)
In the sanctuary of her bedroom, Twilight rested underneath the thick quilt on her bed. The sun's light pierced through the curtains, bringing life into her home. She stretched her hooves over her head and let out a soft yawn.
Suddenly, Spike entered the room holding a scroll. “Twilight, Princess Celestia sent a letter” He said, snapping her out of her daydream.
"Well, read the scroll please" The mare said rubbing her eyes.
The baby dragon cleared his throat. “My dear Twilight, I wanted to thank you again for helping me with the Summer Sun Celebration. Equally, I wanted to inform you that Gohan decided to go earlier to Ponyville, be-”
Interrupting the dragon, Twilight's horn glowed, emitting a strong purple glow and teleporting she in front of the dragon. "What do you mean, that Gohan decided to go earlier?!"
“Well, It says here that he needed to verify something in ponyville” Spike said moving away from the mare's face. “It also says that a chariot is waiting for you at the castle gate and-”
The lilac pony took the baby dragon with her magic, galloping out of her room and descending the spiral staircase to the castle...
Inside a golden chariot, Twilight hung her head annoyed by the last thing the dragon baby said. Princess Celestia wanted her to make FRIENDS in Ponyville, she always preferred the studies before the friendship, although she had some friends like Minuette, Lemon Hearts and Moon Dancer… right?”
Spike waved his claw in front of the pony, freeing Twilight from his trance. “Look on the bright side, Twilight. The Princess arranged for you to stay in a library. Doesn't that make you happy?”
Twilight's eyes widened enthusiastically, showing a smile. “Yes, yes it does. You know why? Because I'm right! I'll check on the preparations as fast as I can, then get to the library to find some proof of Nightmare Moon's return”
“Then... when will you make friends, like the Princess said?” The dragon asked confused.
She rolled his eyes. “She said to check on preparations. I am her student, and I'll do my royal duty, but the fate of Equestria does not rest on me making Friends”
"Come on Twilight, How hard can it be to make friends? Besides you have a new friend already, Gohan counts as a friendship, right?" Spike Asked.
Twilight had not thought about that. She only fulfilled the princess's requests by showing the city of Canterlot to Gohan, although being honest with herself the tour around Canterlot was really fun. “Well ... I suppose so, besides the tour was very fun”
“Yeah, but I'm not sure "fun" is stays in a library for 4 hours” The baby dragon said.
Twilight’s face flushed, easily with embarrassment. “Well, He asked me to teach him about the history of canterlot and… I think I was excited when I discovered that he liked books”.
Instantly, A sly smile broke over Twilight's face. “Hmm…I can remember a certain dragon who lost by challenging Gohan in a food contest”.
Spike crossed his arms. “Well, I practically could not win, you saw how Gohan ate all those donuts. Also, all the donuts sold out at the end.
Twilight stifled a laugh. “Like our bits”.
She laughed with the dragon as they got closer and closer to their destination...
In the town of ponyville, Gohan was sitting on a bench thinking about the strange dream he had the night before. He could swear he heard someone's voice, it sounded very distorted and altered.
Although, it was barely heard as an incomprehensible babble, maybe should just ignore it, but... that can't explain the strange thing that happened when he woke up. He got up abruptly and with an uncontrolled breathing of the bed, hitting the nightstand and destroying it. His powers were back for a moment and maybe that was the reason why he could feel that strange and dark ki.
‘Now what?’ The hybrid thought. ‘I'm not sure what I came to check and I can't tell anything to Twilight’
He sighed. “I just hope Princess Celestia is right”
Near there, a unicorn hid behind a bush, poking her head from time to time.
The mare had been following the eared-haired pony since morning, noticing particular behaviors, as now with his strange way of sitting. She had been researching humans for some years and it was obvious that this stallion knew something.
“And now it's time to discover it” She said hiding her head again.
Back in the same bench, Gohan was lying on her back looking at the blue and beautiful sky. ‘♪Cha-La! Head Cha-La! No time to hesitate, go on and search the-‘
“Psst” Whispered a voice from the back of the bench.
“-Earth?” The half saiyan turned his head confused. “That bush just talked to me?”He frowned before lifting his upper body and resting it on his forearm. “Wait, That bush has ki…?!”
“WHAT’S KI?!” A pony with aquamarine coat and cyan with white mane screamed emerging from her hiding place.
"OH GOD!" The hybrid yelled, staggering backward and falling off the bench.
The mare ran next to the Saiyan with a worried look in her eyes. “Are you ok? I'm really sorry about that, I just wanted you to tell me about hoomans”
Gohan rose from the ground. "Don't worry, I've received worse blows" He said wiping the dust off his body. “But, what did you say you needed me for?”
“Oh well, I just need you to tell me everything you know about hoomans” She said with an excited smile.
The hybrid stopped in his tracks, how in the world did this unicorn know about humans? Only Princess Celestia and her guards know that he isn't really a pony and better yet, only Princess knows what humans are…, right? "I-I have no idea what you're talking about”
Pony's smile disappeared. “Are you sure you don't have the slightest idea?”
“Yup, totally su-”
“So if that is the case, how can you explain your strange behavior?!”
“Well, now I have no idea wh-“
The unicorn edged closer, her face inches from his. “I have to talk about your strange way of sitting too?”
“My way of sitting? what's wro-"
“And what about that thing called ki anyway?” She said pressing her face and shrugging the Saiyan on the ground. "That sounds anthropological"
The half saiyan gulped.
“¡¿ LYRA, ARE YOU DISTURBING THE PONIES WITH YOUR HUMANS THINGS AGAIN?!”
Both ponies turned their heads to find an angry beige earth pony. She took the unicorn from the tail removing her from the face of the half saiyan.
“Sorry about that, Lyra is often excited when it comes to humans, although they don’t exist!” She said this last looking at the aquamarine pony.
“Hmph” Lyra said turning her head.
Gohan got up from the ground. “Don't worry about that, I like to meet new Peo-, I mean Ponies hehe, but what's your name by the way?” He said with a nervous smile.
“Oh sure, my name's Bon Bon and she is Lyra but I think you already know her and what is yours?”
Gohan bowed his head. “My name is Son Gohan, a pleasure to meet you”.
The two ponies were surprised by the polite attitude of the young stallion. It is not very usual to find ponies with an educated personality.
“Oh, I almost forgot. If it's not too much trouble, I wanted to ask you if you've seen anything weird or suspicious around here?” The hybrid asked.
The pony put her hoove on her chin. “Well, Ponyville has been a little busy for the Summer Sun Celebration, but I have not seen anything weird around here”
The half saiyan sighed disappointed. “Thanks anyway”
Gohan decided to say goodbye to both ponies and meet with Twilight and Spike, his mind had been feeling their ki for a few minutes, so he supposed they were close.
Once the stallion disappeared from the sight of the mares, Lyra walked towards Bon Bon.
"There's something weird about that pony and I'm gonna get to the bottom of it"
Bon Bon sighed. "Are you going to start with your human follies again?"
"This time it's different I can feel it" She said with a confident tone.
"Whatever, I need to meet some friends right now, see you later" The earth pony turned.
"Fine! But we're going to talk about this later!" The unicorn screamed as she watched the mare walk away. "Oh, and don't forget we have to go to Pinkie Pie's surprise party"
"Got it" Bon Bon said raising her hoof as pulled a pair of sunglasses from her mane…
On the outskirts of the city, with the warm and beautiful sun in the highest, indicating it was noon. The half saiyan walked at a moderate speed barely raising the dust of the ground.
Suddenly, a pegasus with a rainbow mane flew over him at a high speed in the opposite direction and as if time had stopped for a couple of seconds Gohan and the pegasus crossed glances, being able to see a determined face on the part of the mare.
Ignoring this last, the saiyan simply continued on his way. Twilight and spike's ki was close and could not be distracted for any reason. Princess Celestia does everything possible to return him to his home and at least he can return the favor in this way.
Finally, Gohan could see the unicorn and the dragon talking in the distance. "Twilight, Spike!" He yelled trying to get their attention.
“Gohan?” Twilight said turning to the voice.
He walked over to the mare and the baby dragon's side. “It's great to see you both again”
“I'm glad to see you again too, but where you were all this time?!” Twilight said, confusion evident in her voice
A shy smile appeared on Gohan’s face. “Yeah, sorry about that. You see, I just ah... uh... wanted to explore the town. You know, uh... the library and the other places.”
She sighed. “It’s ok, just let me know next time, right now we really need to get to the library as soon as possible and we have no time to lose”
“It's because of prophecy, right?”
“Of course yes! I need to convince the princess that this prophecy is true, if not all Equestria will be doomed!”
Spike walked forward and closed the gap between the mare and the saiyan. “Yeah yeah whatever, how about if we leave the pony tales for later and start with this list”
“This is no joke, Spike! Now start looking for the next task to over with this!”
“Ok ok just let me see, hmm... here says we need to supervise the food in Sweet apple acres”
“All right let's move there's no time to lose” She said before turning around and running towards the farm.
“Uhh, Spike it's normal for Twilight to behave that way”
“Well, Usually it happens when she has an exam or a task from Princess Celestia. This is the first time he behaves like that for a silly prophecy. I mean, I know he has proofs that it could happen, but if Princess Celestia said to ignore it, I guess it can not happen”
“I don't know Spike, the first time I heard of the prophecy I also thought it was just an old pony tale, but if you think about it better a pony that tried to conquer Equestria by covering it on an eternal night and that later she was caught on the moon doesn't sound so crazy”
“Seriously? It does not sound a bit crazy to you”
Not at all, it should?
“Nevermind, let's just reach Twilight before gets to that farm”
The saiyan simply scratched his head in confusion and proceeded to follow the baby dragon to the farm.
“Finally” Twilight sighed entering the farm with the baby dragon and the half saiyan.
Entering the farm, the trio noticed something instantly this place was completely empty, there was no pony around and you could hardly see a couple of animals walking or playing among them.
“So, now we should ask someone about the banquet or something?" Gohan asked.
"Oh yeah, sorry I almost forgot that” The baby dragon said smiling.
Twilight growled giving the dragon an annoyed look, causing the dragon to reread the scroll.
“Gosh, you really need to relax a bit” He said looking on the piece of paper. “Ok… Applejack! That's our pony"
"Spike, What pony are you talking about, this place is empty"
"Maybe she can help us," Gohan said, indicating a filly pushing an apple basket with her head.
The saiyan approached the little pony of red mane. "Hi, I'm gohan, nice to meet you, I was wondering if you could help my friends and me find a pony called Applejack"
The filly stopped to look at the hybrid with her amber eyes. "Of course I can, she is my big sister, but I think she is now busy with the banquet for the summer sun celebration"
Sister ... that word reminded him of his brother Goten, he had just been born 4 years ago and they had a good relationship, although his mother sometimes scolded him for wasting time playing with Goten and not continue studying, however, He really hoped that no one is worried about his disappearance.
"Well, that's exactly what we came to supervise" The half saiyan chuckled.
"Oh, in this case let me finish with these baskets and I'll take you with her right away" she said pushing the baskets again.
"Don't worry, we can help you with that and thanks for the help ... ahh ... uhh"
"I'm AppleBloom," She said stopping her attempt to move the basket and showing a smile to the saiyan "and it's nice to meet you too"
Ten minutes later, the two unicorns and the dragon were carrying the last two baskets to the kitchen that was inside the immense red barn. Gohan had not failed to notice the immense amount of ki that was inside the barn, apparently everyone was in here after all.
“Well, Applebloom said that we wait here while she talks with her sister” Gohan said sitting on the floor and leaning against the nearest wall.
“That sounds good for me, I'm really tired of those apple baskets” He said sitting on the floor.
“Spike you were on my back all this time”
“Exactly. You two are taking so long, I missed lunch”
Suddenly, a thunderous sound echoed throughout the room, alerting the mare and the baby dragon.
Did you hear that, Twilight? The baby dragon asked giving a quick glance of right and left for the whole room.
"I did it, I was reading a bit about the creatures that live near Ponyville, so maybe I could be a dragon or one of the creatures that live in the Everfree forest. What do you think Gohan?”
Gohan exchanged looks with Twilight and Spike while a blush appeared in the middle of his face. "Actually, that was my stomach, when Spike mentioned the lunch, I remembered that I had not eaten anything since I left Canterlot this morning” He said with a smile and scratching the back of his head.
Twilight opened her mouth to say something, but the sound of the door opening suddenly hit her attention again. A pony of orange coat was standing with a full face of concern.
"Is everypony okay around here? I swear I would have heard a dragon in this room" She said approaching the trio as turning her head from side to side.
Gohan watched as Twilight approached the new pony, probably to explain about the dragon. "Jeez, I never thought my stomach could cause so much trouble" he whispered to himself. Well, it is a hybrid after all, it was inevitable to avoid these saiyan behaviors that his body had.
"Oh, then it was that, well my family and I just finished with the banquet. why not your friend and you stay and try some samples "
“I’m so Sorry, but we have an awful lot to do and-“
Interrupting the conversation of both ponies, the same thunderous sound resounded throughout the room. Causing a look by the mares towards the young saiyan.
"That was me again hehe ..." Gohan said with an awkward smile and and waving at both ponies.
“So…, Is that a yes now?”
Twilight sighed, letting out a moan of exasperation at the same time. "... Fine, let's just finish with this" She said before heading to the front door of the barn.
Gohan watched as the unicorn came out of the kitchen with annoyance evident in her eyes, closing the door of the room forcefully as she was followed by the baby dragon.
Applejack approached the saiyan. “Hey partner, Is everything all right?. Your friend didn't look very happy when accepted my invitation”
“I dont know, I think I really messed up this time”
“Aw, don't be hard with you sugarcube, nopony no one can control himself when really needs to fill something in his belly, right?” she winked.
“Well it's not about that exactly. You see, we -
“Yeah Yeah I know that” The mare stopped the saiyan. “Twilight explained me everything, y'all were sent by Princess Celestia and she really really wants to finish on time”
“If you knew…” The hybrid whispered.
“But that was the reason why I decided to invite her, she really looked very stressed so I thought it would be a good idea"
"I see, so ... some idea to solve this situation"
"Well I'm not an expert in this, but someone has thought of separating. You know divide the tasks to finish faster “
“Divide us?...” Gohan's eyes widened. "Divide! That's it, how I did not think about that before. Applejack that's a fantastic idea. If we separate we can finish everything faster, Twilight will not be upset and I can continue investigating this strange ki.
“Investigate what?”
“I- I do not have time to lose, I need to meet with Twilight and Spike and propose this to them right now”
“Whoa Hold it right there, partner! Applejack said blocking Gohan's path. “I really don’t think that JUST NOW is the best moment"
“Oh sure, I almost forgot. So I think I'll tell her after lunch” the hybrid began to head towards the barn.
"Oh wait before you go, I wanted to thank you for helping my little sister. We were very busy with the summer sun celebration and we did not really have much time, but I really appreciate your kindness"
"Oh no problem, it was nothing really, I'm sure anyone I mean anypony would have done the same"
Well, I really like that attitude. Come back whenever you want to the farm we could use some extra hooves now that the Apple Family Reunion is about to end”
Gohan nodded with a determined look. "I'll keep it in mind"
The door behind Gohan began to open slowly, showing the head poking out of the same filly with red mane. She took a quick look at the whole room, stopping her gaze on the saiyan in front of her.
“Gohan, is waiting for you to meet them, oh and your Friends too, especially the unicorn that does not look very happy"
"Well for my apples. I think we'll see each other later, plus I still have some things to do here in the kitchen. See ya later! "
“Y- yeah, thanks for the help” He said with a shy smile.
“Are you two finished? because many ponies are impatient near here”
Gohan turned quickly “Yup I'm ready, let's do this!”
With the sunset falling over the sky, the two unicorns and the dragon were walking back to Ponyville with a deep and uncomfortable silence. The small lunch had lasted longer than expected, with each member of the Apple family showing up really seemed like it was not going to end. Although it was not so bad after all, hey, there was even a food contest (how convenient) and with the hunger that the hybrid felt ... well I think it is not necessary to go into that topic anymore.
The best thing is to concentrate on the present, right now they were going to supervise the decorations, Gohan hadn't had the opportunity to talk with twilight and for some reason he could not muster the courage to approach her.
It seems that it would be best to talk with the baby dragon and with twilight walking in front of the group, this should be easy.
“Hey Spike” The saiyan whispered approaching him.
“Is something wrong?” The dragon baby asked.
“Well I think I have an idea that will help us in this supervision”
“Really?! In that case I'm all ears”
“Great, so how about if…
Literally near there, Twilight was deep in thought. She was really stressed by all this, she could not even imagine what would happen if she failed Princess Celestia, maybe it prevented her from continuing with her studies or could stop being his student or could even banish her from Canterlot or Equestria. Really needed to finish this task here and now!
A quick gallop took the unicorn out of his thoughts, passing by her side and raising his hair in the air for a couple of seconds. Twilight watched Gohan walk away without any explanation, they were supposed to try to do everything right since now and finish the list to be able to go to the library, how difficult is to follow that!
Spike! She yelled, causing Spike to raise his brow at the lilac mare that stared at him intently. “Where is Gohan going? we're supposed to have a list to follow”
“Ahh..uhh… divide and conquer?” He said with a nervious smile.
“WHAT IN THE HAY IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?!”
Back in ponyville, Gohan walked through the huge city talking from time to time with somepony, the indications that had given the hybrid were very scarce and confusing, you have to turn in the corner of sugarcube corner or go to the left from boutique carousel.
"Yeesh, maybe this was not a good idea after all" The young Saiyan said rubbing his head in frustration.
A couple of minutes had passed since he spoke with a pony, for some reason the number of ponies walking around him had decreased. There were still a few hours until nightfall so that did not seem to be the main reason, well at least he had managed to get a couple of clearer indications.
Going south, Gohan left Ponyville again as indicated the pony with yellow mane and gray coat. On the way, he could notice the immense amount of animals that were in the vicinity including a couple of houses with roofs that seemed to be made of leaves and a huge clock tower.
Gohan began to see in the distance a house completely surrounded by leaves and a few bird houses that seemed to indicate the end of the route, however before he could take another step, a small and beautiful melody caught his attention. He let himself be guided by the sound through a pair of bushes with hundreds of annoying twigs that got stuck in his hair from time to time.
Finally, the middle Saiyan came to the origin of the music, finding a pegasus flying while directing a small group of birds. 'Wow man, that brings me back many memories' He thought as watch the pony fly in different directions along with the rhythm of the music. The saiyan sighed 'It will be better to continue with supervision'
“Hi there!” Gohan said preparing to make her way to the mare's side. “My name is Go-” Before he could continue, a small root from the bush became entangled in the Saiyan's hooves, causing him to fall to the ground.
The pegasus jumped in the air, getting scared by the strong blow and causing all the birds to fly in different directions due to her sudden fright. She turned around to find the stallion on the ground. “Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness” She said flying y landed next to him.
"Um..." a voice whispered, bringing Gohan's eyes up to find a pair of large blue eyes matched with a beautiful flow of pink hair. "Are you okay?" she asked, brushing her hoof against the back of another.
Shaking his head, Gohan got up off the ground. “Don’t worry, I'm fine I guess today is not my day” he said chuckled.
The pony simply didn’t respond and continued to brushing her hoofs.
“So… how about if we start again? I am Gohan, What's your name?”
“Um... I'm Fluttershy” She said very quietly.
“Well, it's nice to meet you fluttershy, you see I'm here to check up on the music and it sounds incredible.
“Um... Thanks” She said.
It was almost like seeing himself in a mirror, the saiyan thought in his mind, this pegasus reminded him completely when he was just a child, those times before raditz appeared and his whole life took a different direction.
“You know, the way you made music with your birds reminded me of my old friend Icarus”
“Who’s Icarus?” The pony asked now with more curiosity.
“He's just my friend baby dragon back home, I used to play and make music with him"
“Did you saw a BABY DRAGON?!” She flew closer to the saiyan.
"Yeah, but to be honest, they do not look anything like the baby dragons in this place"
“Oh my gosh, that's amazing I'd like to be there to watch a cute baby dragon dance. You think I can see it?” She said approaching her face closer to the saiyan.
“Well, that happened a long time ago when I was 4 years old I guess, which means that now Icarus must be a huge and strong dragon”
The pony descended slowly from the air without saying a word until her hooves could touch the ground. “Nevermind, I'm fine, I do not really need to see it” She said quickly
Gohan chuckled. “How about I teach you the song that I and Icarus used to play, would you like to learn it?”
“Oh yes please I really would like to hear that song. I mean.... if that's ok with you”
“It will be a pleasure for me, in fact ... try to teach it to your birds, maybe you can perfect your music.
The pony nodded with a smile approaching to her birds.
‘Here we go’ The hybrid thought joining his lips to start his melancholy melody.
(to enter the environment)
Gohan continued whistling and playing his old song, the pegasus pirouetted in the air with the rhythm of the music, while some birds sang following the hybrid and trying to imitate the music as much as they could.
Gohan began to look around, seeing the birds that flew around him, the small amount of ponies that had come attracted by the music, the joy that this place gave off to the naked eye, had never experienced anything like this since his childhood.
El saiyan glanced to the sky, focusing on the thoughts that echoed throughout her mind. 'You know maybe this place is not so bad after all' he smiled. 'It may not be easy at the beginning or I may have difficulties along the way, but I'm sure everything will be resolved over time, I JUST NEVER HAVE TO GIVE UP!
