The Unknown King

Canterlot remake

After returning the six people to Ponyville I was taken to a chariot towards Canterlot. As the ride went on I was actually holding on to the bars as I had a major fear of heights. As we flew I tried not to look down, or up... really I just had my eyes closed till we landed.

As we landed in the courtyard they guided me to my room. Passing through a few halls and short turns they reached our destination. “Thank you.” I said as I sat on my bed. Wondering what was Celestia wanted to ask me?

After a while of looking around my ‘room’, I decided to go for a stroll through the gardens. Walking on stone pathways leading to different part which leads to other statues like three peoples standing on each other with highest and bottom holding the flag. Flower stands in few places most likely at corners.

As I pass by statues or some plant placements my eyes spotted a jumbled up form of Discord’s statue and a few other too before returning to my room. That would have been if a voice spoke out.

“Hey. This area is off-limits to civilians.” A royal guard said sternly, stopping me while I look at her. Gold rim and purple armor with the royal guard's emblem, can’t really tell but by the way, the shape is it's a she.

“But I’m a guest.” I said.

She didn’t believe me as her eyes furrow. “Okay, where's your pass.” She asked as I froze, was there a pass in my room, I hadn’t checked to be sure.

“Pass?” I asked as she looked at me as though I was joking.

“Nice try buddy now come with me!” She said walking towards me to apprehend and probably kick me out of the castle.

Thinking quickly I point behind her. “Oh look it's Celestia.” I said, she turned to salute only to see no one as I ran passed her.

“HEY!” She shouted as I ran as fast as I could, hearing footsteps behind me. As I got closer to my room I was tackled to the ground. “Nice try buddy now-” She started but was interrupted by Celestia walking by.

“Gleaming Shield why are you holding my guest down?” Celestia asked as Gleaming let me go though she pulls me up from my shirt in her grasp with my arms being cross on my back in a magical grasp.

“Because he didn’t have a pass ma’am! I was chasing him and since he resist.” ‘Gleaming’ reported as Celestia looked at me.

“Why didn’t you carry your pass, Huxley?” Celestia questioned.

“I didn’t know I needed one nor did I see one in my room.” I said.

“Alright then... Gleaming Shield, would you come with us?” Celestia said as Gleaming nodded and followed us back to my room. No one spoke throughout our stroll, taking a similar path to my room. “Gleaming, make sure nobody comes in.” Celestia request as we walked inside and sat on the bed.

“So what did you want to talk to me about?” I asked.

“...Well, you're all alone, and have no family as far as I’ve known. I want to change that.” Taking a soft breath she continued. “I want to adopt you in the royal family.” She asked as I looked at her confused.

I stared at her for a good second thinking of what to say to her before answering. “Look I appreciate the offer but no I’ll pass.” I said, getting up from the bed and grabbed the pass that was on the dresser and began to walk towards the door.

“Wait, you can’t be serious. Think on what your declining.” She said flabbergasted.

“Why do you even want to adopt me?” I asked while looking behind me to her.

“Well... You have knowledge about creatures that I have never heard of. And a weapon, I have never seen one like that before. Plus, like I said, you're all alone. I want to give you a place and family.” Looking at me before continuing. “I understand why you denied it. You wish to never abandon what’s remain of your family. But it isn’t so. Besides, I’m not asking you to be my son.” She explain though that got me confused.

“Wait, you're not? Then what are you asking?” I asked again confused.

“All my nieces and nephews are adopted into the royal family, they choose to join. Was a great honor... Just think about it, you don’t have to say yes but, just, think about it.” Celestia said.

I sighed, decided to go out for a walk around the city.
---

Maybe I should take the offer. I am on limited funds and I’m not sure how long I can take care of myself... But I don’t know anything about politics, and nobles might try to use me, not to mention there could be the problems with both assassins and peasant revolts. I thought as I walk across the marble road. Peoples in fancy clothes talking to others, but there are those that just walk by, probably for work or food or probably some stuffs. Though I did see some peoples wearing work outfits like constructor, engineer, waiters, chiefs, even window cleaners.

Wasn’t paying attention on where I was going as I bumped into someone with me on my haunches.

“Hey! Watch where you're going.” The person said.

“I’m sor-” I started before getting a good look at the woman who kinda looks like- “Twilight?” I asked, getting up on my legs before offering my hand.

She smacked my hand away before standing up on her own. “Please don’t say that name.” She grumbles as she knees down to pick up a book. Now that my mind caught up to see the difference.

She was peach with signs of sand yellow skin, her red hair with purple and lavender stripes, tied up to a ponytail. Wearing a casual glasses, helping her purple eyes or maybe just to look smart. Wearing warm black shirt, shaded maroon skirt thats halfway down her thigh, long white stockings and casual shoes.

“Why?” I asked, gaining no response as she grabs another book. I noticed the scattered mess of books from our collision. “Would you like some help carrying your books?” I asked.

She seems to be suspicious of me. “... Fine, follow me.” She said as she got up, I picked up the rest of the books and followed her.

“So, what's your name?” I asked.

“Moondancer.” She replied.

“Nice to meet you Moondancer.” I said as we walked to her place.

When we got there it looked to be a pale blue wall and wooden door. Its at least decent...

Unlocking the door while opening it, she walked inside before saying. “Put the books on the table.” Pointing towards a somewhat cluttered table with books up to twenty books tall! Each one having a bookmark from previous reading but some doesn’t have any at all in one side, probably the ones done reading.

I put them down where I guess is an empty spot and took a quick look around before saying. “Nice library you have here.” Not kidding, a row of books on shelf after shelf leaning on several walls. If it wasn’t with materials like food, kitchen and few entrances to other parts of the house it would have been an actual library!

“Why are you still here?” She mannerlessly asked.

“Wow, you’re just as rude as her, really got the attitude down.” I said.

“Her?” Moondancer asked.

“Twilight,” I responded.

“Twilight Sparkle?”

“Well I never got her name down but she did have a pet dragon.”

Assistant;” She corrected, being offensive for him. “he hates being called a pet. That's her alright, jerk leaving town to skip my party.” Grumbling to herself as she start making coffee for herself.

“I thought she was there under the princess’s orders?” I said as she looked at me funny.

“That's what she wants you to think,” She muttered in suspicion.

“So why would she want to skip out on your party?”

“... Because she hates me.” She spoke in a sad tone.

“I’m pretty sure she doesn’t hate you,” I said, try to reassure her.

“How would you know that?”

“Well, considering the Princess ‘rented’ the Library that she was staying in months in advance. I think you just had a party at the wrong time.” I told her.

“You think so?” She muttered to herself and probably me too.

I saw the time and got up. “Well, I have to go, it was nice talking to you Moondancer.” I said.

“Wait, who are you anyway?” She asked.

“Oh, right, I never introduced myself. I’m Huxley.” I answered as I walk out.

(Back at the castle,)

I was about to enter the dining hall when I was stopped by Celestia. “Hello Huxley, have you decided on joining my family?”

“Yes, I’ve decided that my mind hasn’t changed I don’t want to be royalty,” I said as she looked a little disappointed.

“Alright it's your choice.” She said walking into the dining room as I followed her in. It was clean white room with a few suited butlers and two people sitting at the table.

“Auntie who’s this?” A pink haired woman asked in curiosity. Pink, yellow and purple long hair, bright peach skin and lavender eyes. Wearing a small crown, waist held pink dress, lavender long silk gloves and white heels.

“This is Huxley, Cadence.” Celestia address.

“Why is he here?” A blond man asked. Brushed blond hair that’s wavy up around the neck, light blue eyes and bright peach skin. Wearing a full white tuxedo with a blue bow around the neck, and wrist glove and shoes are pale light blue.

“Well Blueblood, Huxley is here because he help me with something.” Celestia said.

“What did he ‘help’ you with exactly?” Blueblood asked.

She looked at me, said in an unsure tone. “I’m afraid that's still between us.”

Their attention is on me before Cadence asked. “How old is he?”

“17.” I answered and she smile widen.

“Auntie, does that mean what I think it means?” Young women looked and sounded way to hopeful that can call upon childrens cheers.

Unfortunately her expression drop when Celestia shook her head. “He declined the offer to join our family.” Celestia said calmly and sadly.

“Why?” Cadence asked.

“Because I didn't want to join, its as simple as that.” I answered.

“Well, all the better, I wouldn’t want some peasant joining our family.” Blond man haughty stated in that noble accent.

“So what's your excuse to being in the family? You don’t seem like the type Celestia would invite into her family.” I said miffed, Blueblood looked insulted and wanted to bring his own thought into discussion but Celestia intervene.

“That's enough, Huxley!” Celestia said sternly, frowning and furrow look at me before turning to Blueblood. “As for you Blueblood, you need to show him with some respect.” She requested.

“Alright Aunt.” He said as he got up. “Hmph, this event has spoiled my appetite.” He muttered before walking away.

Celestia gave me a look of disappointment before sitting down at the edge of the table. “I was hoping everyone was going to be here.”

“Here for what?” Cadence asked curiously.

“To introduce my Sister,” Celestia said. Luna came out from behind the dramatic revealed curtains, her expression however was a face of nervousness. “Luna.”

“Hello.” Luna said meekly as she sat down beside her sister.

“Hello, Auntie Luna,” Cadence said happily.

“Hello Luna.” I said as she looked at me for a second before turning away.

[...]

After dinner, Cadence excuse herself from the room since she has things to do. I decided to confront Celestia and Luna as they were talking. Probably try to catch up with the times or something. “Hello Celestia, Luna.” I greeted.

“Hello, Huxley. Is there something you need?” Celestia asked.

“Well, there is still the matter of Luna’s nobody to deal with.”

“If her Nobody is around, we’ll find her.” Celestia said.

“Well, there are two problems with that.” I said getting their attention.

“Well, if she is an Organization Nobody, she may still hold a grudge against you and she may not even be on this world.” I explained.

“This ‘world’?” Luna asked in a unconvence tone though it felt strain for some reason.

“Right before I explain you two must promise that this leave the room under no circumstance.” I said as they both nodded. “Alright every star you see in the night sky is a different world and Luna’s nobody could be on any number of them.” I explained. They seem not surprised by this.

“Alright, then I’ll send you with Twilight and her friends to help with the search.” Celestia calmly said.

“That might be a bad idea.”

“Why?” Celestia asked.

“What if you need them and we’re off on a faraway world?” I asked but more on the main point.

“Well-” Celestia started but I cut whatever thought she was going to say.

“And a group that big might attract the wrong crowds to this world.” I said. Seems I threw her thought out the window with Celestia started thinking again.

“Hmm, what do you suggest?” Celestia asked.

“I don’t know yet, let me think about it.” I said as I walked off.

Once arriving to my room my mind flung in my head. Celestia’s not going to let me go at this alone... I’m going to need a gummi ship. I thought to myself as I went to bed.
