Twizzle

Firsts and Fiestas

Twilight was finishing up her hair, which was wavier than usual, similar to her coronation hairstyle. Her dress was a dusty rose color, and sparkly, and flowed beautifully. At last, she was ready. She doesn’t usually dress up for most parties, but this one was going to be special, she just knew it. She was a bit nervous to show Fizzlepop, but excited nonetheless. She walked out of her room, after taking one last look at a picture of her and Fizzle on her mirror.

I’ve got this.” Twilight thought, before leaving her room and walking towards the throne room.

Twilight walked through the door to the throne room. Her friends, Spike, and Starlight were clumped together at the opposite end of the room, then they parted to reveal Fizzlepop, who was wearing a teal dress that matched her eyes, and the rhinestones on the poofy skirt sparkled in the light. Rarity dimmed the lighting with her magic to set the tone. The glowing, multicolored crystals from the tree chandelier are illuminating the room in a romantic way. Twilight is in awe, blushing at the beauty of her marefriend, and the sparkle in her eyes. Fizzle blushed and smiled.

“You- you look stunning, Fizzle...” Twilight finally said, maintaining her stunned expression.

“You too, Twi,” Fizzle said. They both walked towards each other. Before Fizzle could ask Twilight to dance, Pinkie jumped between them with her party cannon, and screamed,

“IT’S PARTY TIME!” Pinkie then fired her party cannon, getting confetti on the two ponies’ heads.

“Pinkie...” Fizzle said, upset that Pinkie ruined the moment.

“Sorry!” Pinkie said as she grinned nervously, and scooted back by her friends on the sides.

“What was it you were saying, Fizz?”

“I was going to say, care to dance?” Fizzlepop asked, extending her left hoof.

“I would love to,” Twilight replied, placing her right hoof on Fizzlepop’s. Fizzle took her other hoof, grabbing Twilight’s back, and bringing her closer. Twilight wrapped her left hoof around Fizzle. They proceeded to dance gracefully to music Rarity had chosen, and for quite a bit. Rarity had playfully asked Spike to dance, and he blushed fiercely, as Rarity swept him and and used her front right hoof to dance with him, rather than both, because of his height. Finally, when the song ended, they grabbed some of Pinkie Pie’s punch, and mingled with their friends. After awhile, Twilight pulled Fizzlepop aside.

“Come with me, I have something to tell you,” Twilight took Fizzlepop to the balcony.

“Isn’t somepony going to see us?” Fizzlepop asked. Twilight pointed up. Fizzle saw a translucent magenta, sparkling, swirling dome above them.

“Bubble of invisibility. It’s around the door, so our friends can see us, but nopony else can. Come sit,” Twilight explained, then walked over to the middle of the balcony. Fizzle followed and sat next to Twilight. Noticing that Fizzlepop and Twilight and left the party room, the Mane 5, Spike, and Starlight set out to find them. Starlight walked past the closed balcony doors, and looked back. She saw Fizzlepop and Twilight sitting together, and alerted the group with a ‘psssst’ and pointed at the door. She didn’t want the two to hear them, and be disturbed from their moment. The dragon and 6 ponies peered through the glass door.

“So, what was it you wanted to tell me?” Fizzle asked her marefriend.

“I’m ready.”

“For what? A fireworks show? Because I can do that for you,”

“No, not that. Remember what Rarity asked us earlier?” Twilight hinted. Fizzle thought, then blushed as she realized what Twilight was thinking of. The night sky was beautiful and clear as ever, and the mood was right. The two situated themselves towards each other, and blushed. They awkwardly smiled, unsure of how to start. Fizzlepop was especially red, extremely nervous for this moment. She hesitated as Twilight waited.

“Oh, come here!” Twilight said as she swiftly leaned in and pressed her muzzle against Fizzle’s. Fizzlepop‘ s eyes widened, then she embraced it, returning the kiss, and wrapping her hooves around Twilight. The ponies outside of the door blushed, and let out a series of “awwwww”s. Rainbow Dash and Spike were a bit grossed out, but at the same time thought it was cute. Rarity smiled.

“I knew they had it in them,” Rarity said, entranced in their romance. Fluttershy was red, as she’d never seen her friend for many years kiss anypony. She giggled.

“I haven’t seen Twilight this happy since she decided to have that booksortcation! It makes me so happy to see her so happy!” Fluttershy added as she clapped her hooves. Starlight had silenced Pinkie Pie, as not to draw attention to them. Pinkie looked as if she was going to explode.

“Pinkie, why don’t you go back into the throne room and celebrate in privacy?” Starlight asked. Pinkie dashed off and they heard distant screeches of excitement and multiple party cannon firings. On the balcony, the two ponies separated, and Fizzlepop was still red.

“Wow... that was amazing... Can I tell you a secret of why exactly I was so nervous?”

“Of course, Fizz, you can tell me anything, I am your marefriend now,” Fizzlepop still wasn’t used to that word, but she knew she could trust Twilight. “Well...here’s why I was so nervous about......y’know.....kissing you....” Fizzle took a breath. “You see.... I’ve never actually kissed anypony before. When I left home, I was too young to have had a special somepony, and my parents never actually kissed me other than on my head or my cheek. Then I was alone until I went into the Storm Guard, until I met you, of course...” Fizzle sighed. “I’ve never told anypony a secret like that before.... You’re just the first pony I could ever truly trust,” Fizzlepop admitted. Twilight smiled, and teared up.

“Well, I hope I was a good first, you certainly were to me,”

“It’s your first relationship too?”

“Yep. I was very introverted before I moved to Ponyville, and once I met my friends, I didn’t think I needed anypony. I did have one crush once, but that never became anything. It was...complicated. Anyways, Flash is a story for another time. But that was years ago, and nothing serious happened between us other than awkward interactions. I haven’t had anything romantic since then. Well, until you, that is,” Twilight explained. The ponies in the door “awwwwww”ed, and the two mares turned to face them. The ponies quickly dashed next to the door, and Twilight playfully rolled her eyes, then giggled.

“Should’ve figured that once they found us they would watch,” Twilight giggled. Fizzlepop blushed, then shook it off, and made a confident face. She knew she had to conquer her shyness towards this romance. She took a breath, and pressed her muzzle against Twilight’s. Twilight blushed again, and used her wings to bring Fizzle closer. They hugged as they both embraced the love. Fizzlepop saw it all so clearly now, she had been wrong before. The best way to survive wasn’t all alone, it was with the ponies you love and care about.

“Why don’t we give them some privacy,” Rarity hinted.

“But this is so good!!!” Pinkie pleaded.

“Come on,” Starlight said as she walked away. The rest followed.

The two ponies kept embracing their love for quite awhile, until finally, they went back into the throne room. Starlight was sitting in Twilight’s throne, and Spike in his. The rest of the ponies had left.

“Where did everypony go?”

“They all went home, they figured you wanted your privacy, and it had gotten late. The party festivities seemed to be over anyways, so Pinkie Pie had nothing left to be excited about,” Spike explained.

“Oh, okay then. What do you want to do tomorrow? I assume you still want to keep this a secret, so we shouldn’t do anything too suspiciously romantic. I don’t want to be cooped up in the castle anymore, though. Unless you want to have a booksortcation. Then I’d be down for that,” Twilight mentioned.

“Should we tell the princesses?” Fizzlepop asked.

“Are we ready for that yet? I mean, I’m not concerned about Cadance and Luna telling anypony, but Celestia enjoys gossip from time to time over cake! I don’t know if she can keep a secret this big!”

“Twilight, you were her student, and you’re very close to her. I’m sure you can trust her. She gave me a chance, maybe we should give her a chance?” Fizzle replied.

“Okay, I trust you. We can tell them, but maybe just not tomorrow? I kind of wanted to do something fun tomorrow, and not stressful?”

“I have an idea, why don’t we go to Canterlot tomorrow, tell the princesses, then go have some fun around Canterlot? That way, we don’t have to worry about telling them, and we can just have fun! We can go to the Canterlot Library, go shopping, and hang out! And if anypony asks, you’re just visiting and I’m doing my job. I’ll even wear my armor,”

“That’s a great idea, Fizz! I’ll have Spike send Princess Celestia a letter letting her know that we’re coming, and to have Princess Cadance and Shining Armor come too. Sunburst can watch Flurry Heart in the Crystal Empire. Starlight, if you want to go to the Crystal Empire and help Sunburst with Flurry Heart, I’m sure he would love that. You can also tell him about us, I don’t think he talks to enough ponies to worry about him telling anypony,”

“That would be great! I would love seeing Sunburst and Flurry again, and I’m sure he would be very happy for you,” Starlight replied.

“Spike, can you please send a letter to Princess Celestia?”

“Sure! This feels so weird, like I should be in the Golden Oak Library, and you should be a unicorn doing this,” Spike said. He soon realized that he shouldn’t have said that, as that moment brings up PTSD-like moments for Twilight. She starts to tear up.

“Oh no. I shouldn’t have said that. I really shouldn’t have said that,” Spike said concerned. “I’m so sorry, Twilight, I- I wasn’t thinking-“ Twilight starts sobbing. She flies up to her tree chandelier and hugs it.

“OH, HOW I MISS YOU MY LIBRARY” Twilight sobs, still hugging the roots of the Golden Oak Library. Fizzle was worried, as she didn’t know why Twilight was suddenly depressed.

“Why is she like this all of a sudden?” Spike sighed, as he had to tell the story, which would only make her worse. Starlight used her magic to pull Twilight down, maintaining her hugging position, and wraps her around Fizzlepop. Fizzlepop sits down, and wraps her hooves around her distressed mare.

“Twilight, is it okay if I tell Fizzlepop the story?” Twilight kept her wet face in Fizzlepop’s chest.

“I- I guess so” Twilight sobbed, muffled, as she didn’t move her head. Fizzlepop gently stroked Twilight’s head.

“Alright, so not long after Twilight became a princess, Tirek- do you know who Tirek is?” Fizzlepop shook her head. “Alright. Tirek was a power hungry horned beast from Tartarus, almost like a Minotaur, but not, I’m not sure what he is. Anyways, he can consume the magic of ponies- any type of pony, and he grows with its power. His power and body grows with the magic he consumes. Anyways, the three princesses knew that Tirek would want their magic, and didn’t think he knew about Twilight being a princess. So they took their magic and gave it all to Twilight. All of it. She almost exploded. Well, one thing led to another, and Tirek knew about Twilight having the magic. He battled with her, in an epic magic duel of destruction. In that process, he destroyed the Golden Oak Library, which is where Twilight has lived since she moved to Ponyville. She had so many of her favorite memories there. She still gets flashbacks. They defeated him with friendship as usual, and this castle grew out of the ground. That’s what happened,” Spike explained. Fizzlepop was speechless. She was in awe of that massive story and event. She hugged her still sobbing mare tighter.

“It’s okay, Twi. It’s over now, and now you have this amazing castle, with a bigger library, and room for all of your friends. You even still have some of your old home here in your new home. It’s okay now, you have me. You’ll be okay,” Fizzlepop said sweetly, still petting Twilight. Finally, Twilight calmed down, and pulled her head away to see that Fizzlepop’s entire chest was wet at that point. She blushed, and wiped her eyes.

“I’m sorry about that, Fizz,” Twilight pointed at her chest. I’m sorry you had to see me like that. Thank you, you’re right about what you said. And you’re great to snuggle, it really helped me calm down and feel better,”

“Where were we...oh yes! Spike, can you get a scroll and a quill?” He went and fetched the two items. “Are you ready?” Spike nodded. “Dearest Celestia, Fizzlepop Berrytwist and I request to meet with you, Luna, Cadance, and Shining Armor tomorrow morning. It is of high importance, but there is no need to be worried. Your friend and fellow princess, Twilight Sparkle,” Twilight announced. Spike finished writing, then sent it off in a burst of green fire. Fizzlepop was terrified.

“SPIKE! You just set that letter on fire! Why in Equestria did you do that??” Fizzle panicked.

“It’s how I send letters to Celestia. It’s just how it works, I’m not sure why or how, but that’s just how it is,” Spike explained. Fizzle sighed in relief. Spike started gagging, and coughed a breath of fire. The fire morphed into a scroll, and Twilight picked it up to read aloud. Fizzlepop was baffled at what she had just witnessed.

“Dearest Twilight, I will contact Cadance and Shining Armor, and tell them to have that orange wizard dude watch their child. Luna and I are free whenever. We are looking forward to the meeting. Your faithful sun goddess, Celestia. P.S. If you can bring cake, that would be wonderful,” Twilight read aloud. Their faces were blank. They could not understand why Celestia had written that way, but they decided not to question it. They were all getting tired, and decided to call it a night. They had to head to Canterlot the following morning, and needed quality sleep. Twilight and Fizzlepop hugged goodnight, and went off to bed.

“They’re such a cute couple,” Starlight mentioned to Spike, before they headed off to bed.
