//------------------------------// // Chapter 3: The Murderer // Story: Doctor Whooves And The Wonderbolt Assassin // by Whooves235 //------------------------------// As Commander Hurricane walked away from the group, they finally all passed out onto the ground, tired and exhausted from the training. "I knew Commander Hurricane was known for his excessive training," Rainbow said, catching her breath, "but this is ridiculous." "Well, we did all sign up for this," Orion said. "I signed up for The Wonderbolts, not the military!" Thunder Colt said. "Dude, The Wonderbolts ARE the military," Rainbow said. "Guys, gals, we shouldn’t argue, we’re all supposed to be a team," Tiny Dust said. "Yeah, let's all be friends!" Surprise said. "Hey, I’m all for being friends, as long as none of you get in my way," Thunder Colt said. "Hey, who said we would get in your way!" Rainbow said. "I did, you Filly-Fooler," Thunder Colt said. Rainbow froze in anger. There was that word the one word that she was always called. "Nopony Calls Me A Filly-Fooler!" She knew that while it was the truth she needed to keep her identity a secret. "Oh I’m sorry, I just got confused by that stupid mane you have," Thunder Colt said. "Why I oughtta-!" Rainbow said before Spitfire grabbed her hoof."Hey, let's not argue. After all, we could all use a break," Spitfire said. "*Humph* Fine, I was getting bored anyway," Thunder Colt said before heading towards the mess hall. "You ok, Prism?" Spitfire asked. "Yeah, I’m ok. I just wish I didn’t have to deal with guys like him," Rainbow said. "Hey, there’ll always be ponies like that" Orion said. "Yah...I know" Rainbow said Spitfire would then walk up to Rainbow. "How about me and you go race a couple of laps, ya know to fly out the tension eh Prism?" "Oh, you’re on!" Rainbow said. The Mess Hall "Wow, you are a fast flyer," Spitfire said as they sat at the table eating their hay fries and cakes. "Yeah, I could have gone faster, but my accident has made it kinda hard to go as fast as I used to," Rainbow said. "If I may ask Prism, how did you lose it?" Spitfire said. "Got caught under a pillar, doctors had to amputate," Rainbow said. "Well that's a shame. It must have been hard to adjust to flying again," Spitfire said. "Actually, that's why I’m here. I thought, ‘who better than Commander Hurricane to whip me back into shape?’" Rainbow said. "Well, you’re right about one thing: Commander Hurricane will definitely whip you into shape," Spitfire said. "So what about you, why did you join?" Rainbow asked. "You know, to be the best of the best," Spitfire said. Just then the door slammed open and Commander Hurricane, followed by royal guards, came in. "All right maggots, listen up," Commander Hurricane said. "The whole camp is on lockdown, one of the workers was just stabbed and was found dead." "What?!" Spitfire said. "Impossible!" gasped Thunder Colt. As the other cadets and staff tired to figure out how this could have happened, Rainbow Dash snuck out the back. "I’ve got to get the Doctor." The TARDIS The Doctor was bored, which was never a good thing. As he played around with the monitor he thought about the coming years. He knew the outcome of the future and holding the truth from all those whom could get affected by it was torture enough. The TARDIS beeped. "What do you expect me to say?!" The Doctor said to the TARDIS. It beeped again. "Well obviously they will find out eventually, but I’m not the person to tell her. Besides if I do who knows what kind of time line changes would happen." The TARDIS door slammed open and Rainbow came barging in. "Doctor, there's a situation!" she said. "What happened?" The Doctor said. "Commander Hurricane has just put the camp on lockdown, and one of the workers was stabbed to death!" Rainbow said. "Murder? At the Wonderbolts?" The Doctor said. "That’s impossible, the history books would have said that..." "Well, it looks like the history books lied!" Rainbow said. Canterlot High - Other Dimension 2018 ANM (After Nightmare Moon) As Twilight walked with Sunset in Canterlot High, she stopped in her tracks. "Twilight?" Sunset said. "Is everything ok?" "Why do I have the feeling a book was just insulted..." Twilight said. "Ok then..." 2001BMNR (Before Nightmare Moon's Return) "Ok Mrs. Dash, if there was a murder then something is definitely wrong," The Doctor said, then looked at the TARDIS monitor. "Aha, here we are!" "What?" Rainbow said "What does it say?" "According to the TARDIS monitor, time is in flux," The Doctor said. "Flux?" Rainbow said. "What does that mean?" "Think of time like a line," The Doctor said as he pulled a chalkboard next to him, drawing a long thick white line. "When time is in flux it means that the timeline is sorta, thin." Then he made the chalk line from thick to thin. "When the timeline is thin it means that the timeline has the potential to change drastically, like right now. Because of the murder the timeline has the potential to change." "What does that mean for us?" Rainbow said. "It means that when we go home, things could be very different" The Doctor said. "How can we stop it from changing?" Rainbow asked. "Since the murder was done to someone who is not significant to the timeline," The Doctor said, "it stays intact, but if someone important, say, Commander Hurricane or Spitfire, were to be killed..." "The Wonderbolts could cease to exist!" "Mrs. Dash, it looks like we have a mystery on our hooves," The Doctor said. The Mess Hall As Spitfire, Thunder Colt, Tiny Dust, Orion, and Surprise sat in the mess hall, Commander Hurricane stood in front of them. "All right, I have sent the janitors and roadway cleaners home until further notice. The only people who remain here are me, the Royal Guards, you guys, and a killer." Commander Hurricane then looked around and noticed someone was missing. "Where Is Prism?" As the mess hall door opened, Rainbow and The Doctor walked in. "Sorry I’m late, gents," The Doctor said. "Mr. Smith, you better have a good reason for barging in here unannounced," Commander Hurricane said. "And Prism, who gave you permission to leave the mess hall?" "Yes, about that. You see, my metal wing was cutting into my side and I needed Mr. Smith to bandage it up," Rainbow said. "Yes, yes, now that that's all cleared up I will take it from here, Commander," The Doctor said. "What?" Commander Hurricane and Rainbow both said. The Doctor pulled out his wallet and flashed it at Commander Hurricane. "My name is not John Smith, I’m The Doctor. I was sent by Celestia to oversee preparations here, and I am also a Royal Detective." "Well," Commander Hurricane said as he looked at the wallet, "The credentials look legit." "Now then, I hear there has been a killing. Is this true?" The Doctor said. "One of the Janitors was found dead behind the barracks," Commander Hurricane said. "And the only people to be near the barracks at the time of his estimated death were the cadets." "Well, I know for a fact that Prism didn’t do it," The Doctor said. "She was with me last night for her daily check up, so that only leaves Spitfire, Thunder Colt, Tiny Dust, Orion, Surprise, and you, Commander." "Me?!" Commander Hurricane said. "You think I’m a suspect?” "Just taking precautions, dear Hurricane. After all, you can go wherever you want at whatever time you want, unlike the cadets who have a curfew," The Doctor said. "Fair point," Commander Hurricane said. "Um, Doctor, can I talk to you a for a moment?" Rainbow said. "Of course, Prism. I'll be right back. If anyone moves, he or she will automatically be accepted as the killer," The Doctor said as he and Rainbow went to the corner. "Doctor, are you sure you know what you are doing?" Rainbow said. "Of course Mrs. Dash, I have been in hundreds of murder situations before," The Doctor said. "Now as for how to solve this, we will have to find some suspects. Any idea who it could be?" "What about Thunder Colt? He’s really suspicious" Rainbow said. "Ok, do you have evidence to support your claim?" The Doctor said. "No, but he just seems like the type of person who would kill," Rainbow said. "That’s not enough to go with," The Doctor said as he he put his hoof up to his chin. "I think I might have an idea." "What is it?" Rainbow said. "Go with the others and do exactly what I say," The Doctor said, then turned around and faced the group. "For now the killer is unknown. I have a plan, but it is risky." "What Is it?" Tiny Dust said. "Does it involve a party?" Surprise asked. "I want everyone to keep doing what they came here to do, and when the killer strikes again, I’ll have a better idea of who it might be," The Doctor said. "So what we are just supposed to do, walk around with a killer?" Thunder Colt said. "Correct. Don’t worry though, I have a feeling the killer is not after the cadets," The Doctor said. "Commander Hurricane, I want you to go and give me the files for all the cadets. I want their birth records, sign up sheets, anything that will help." "Ok, I’ll go do that right now," Commander Hurricane said. "Oh, and Tiny Dust, I want you to go along," The Doctor said. "But what if Tiny or Hurricane is the killer?" Orion said. "Then whoever comes back alone is the killer," The Doctor said. "Oh, he is good," Surprise said. "Now all of you go and try to be safe," The Doctor said. "I hope you know what you’re doing, Doctor," Rainbow said as she joined the rest of the cadets. "So do I."
