Kingdom of Silence

Prologue

4,000 years ago...

Celestia cursed as she fumbled with the tightening on her armor. The goddess felt a shiver sprint down her spine as she heard the laughter from her insane sister. She waved away guards who tried to help the princess.
"Do not fret about me. I shall handle her. Guard the Elements with your life." Celestia smiled. The guards looked at each other, worried before nodding, bowing and running off. Celestia sighed.
They're good soldiers... Celestia thought and gulped as she heard sounds of battle. She started to run but slowed when she reached the almost demolished throne room of The Castle of The Two Sisters.
Nightmare Moon threw down a solder she had in her magic grip. She turned her cat like eyes to her golden sister.
"Tia... I hoped you were dead from that blast. But looks like you just wanted to show off your pretty armor." Nightmare laughed as she spread her bat like wings. It scared Celestia to see her sister like this..
"Luna.. please stop this madness." Celestia tried to reason. Nightmare sniffed.
"Why should I? You started this mess." Nightmare snarled, magic sparking from her horn. Celestia blinked.
"Wh... how..?" Celestia breathed. Celestia took a step back as her sister was suddenly in front of her.
"HOW?! YOU LOCKED DISCORD AWAY. AND SOMBRA. HOW COULD YOU THINK YOUR CRIMES WOULD GO UNPUNISHED!" Nightmare roared, making Celestia stumble back.
Celestia quickly unsheathed her golden sword.
"They all begged for mercy... Even Chrysalis. Your rise caused them to fall. Chrysalis wanted food, Sombra wanted to be known and Discord wanted to have fun and me... who just wanted to be LOVED." Nightmare stalked toward Celestia who deflected blasts from nightmare as best as she could.
"You let them down. And you let me down as well." Nightmare hissed.
"Luna, I'm sorry if I ever upset you..." Celestia gasped as a blast burned her cheek.
"YOU'RE SORRY?! IT'S TOO LATE FOR SORRY, CELESTIA. IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO PAY FOR YOUR CRIMES. I, NIGHTMARE MOON, BANISH YOU FOR 10,000 YEARS." Nightmare screamed. Suddenly, much to Celestia's horror, The Elements of Harmony were around Nightmare Moon. They started to swirl around the demoness.
"Tell me, sister," Nightmare spat the words out like they were posion, "how would you like to be locked away?" Celestia's eyes widened as she emitted one final scream before the Elements snatched her up, carrying her to the moon.
Nightmare grinned at her work. She turned to the soldiers that were now marching in and going to surround her. she formed a staff with her magic and banged it on the cracked stone floor.
"Bow." Nightmare demanded.
"We will never bow to you!" An unfortunate soldier cried. Nightmare slowly turned her gaze to him.
"who will you bow to then, hm?" Nightmare asked. She was greeted by silence.
"Exactly. The sun won't rise for a while. get used to it." Nightmare snapped. The soldier leaped at her and Nightmare smacked him away. she banged the staff again.
"I want this castle fixed up-" Nightmare stopped. She didn't want to be hidden away! She wanted to shine like her idiot sister.
"No I don't. I want a castle built in the mountian. A large city." Nightmare smirked. Everyone was still.
"I'm not going to ask again." Nightmare snarled. Soldiers scrambled. Nightmare looked to the moon. She turned her gaze from it. She had work to do.

Nightmare looked at the statue of her friend. Her heart cracked a bit.
"Leave us." She ordered. The gaurds glanced at each other before rushing off. Nightmare Moon looked at Discord.
"You hear me. I know you do. Celestia has been imprisoned. I'm going to set you free. You shall have domain over the west of... Equestria... It shall be your kingdom, my friend." Nightmare Moon bent down to the base of his statue. She ignited all the chaotic spells she could find and pushed them to her horn and poured them into Discord's statue.
A deep laughter rang out. Nightmare stepped back. Discord stretched as the stone around him cracked away to reveal the Draconaquus.
"Ah.. Thanks Luners. I was starting to think no one cared about me." Discord grinned. Nightmare raised an eyebrow.
"Do not get any ideas. Just keep your chaos over to the west of.. Equestria." Nightmare Moon sighed. Discord bowed.
"Sure thing." Discord snapped and the remains of his statue turned into jaw breakers.

"He couldn't have picked the desert to take over?" Nightmare shivered as she walked though the snow. Even though her armour was designed for it to withstand anything, her obsidian body was not. The black alicorn made a cloak appear and fastened it around herself before it could fly away by the hollering wind. She finally reached what she was looking for.
There was a black patch in the snow. A small, darkened red crystal was sticking out in the middle of it. Nightmare Moon bowed her head.
"King Sombra. I, Nightmare Moon, hereby set you free from your kingdom of isolation. You shall make the Crystal Empire in your own image. Bring the Empire back, Sombra!" Nightmare Moon whispered as she ignited her horn. She stepped back as the spell seeped into the crystal, making it crack. There was a deep, menacing laughter that should've scared Nightmare Moon. But it didn't.
Sombra appeared in front of her in a mist like shadow, similar to her own way of transporting herself if she didn't want to fly or teleport.
"Luna..? I see you ignored my warning to back away from the monster you have now become." Sombra raised a smoky eyebrow. Nightmare Moon narrowed her eyes.
"I'm not Luna anymore, Sombra. I. Am Night-"
"I know who you are, Moon. I will take back what is mine." With that, King Sombra vanished with a deep cackle.
"One more to go... I don't think this one will be easy." Nightmare whispered as she turned into her own wisp of purple smoke and sped across the lands.

Nightmare Moon stopped as she turned back into her normal form and looked up at the towering Hive. She turned her cat-like eyes to the entrance which was guarded by two Changelings. Nightmare Moon walked forward. The two thrust their weapons at the demoness but Nightmare didn't seem to care.
"Take me to your Queen. I'm not going to ask again." Nightmare ordered. The two looked at each other and talked in a language Nightmare couldn't understand.
The Changeling language was similar to a bird's or foxes. It was filled with clicks and trills, making it impossible to decipher. They nodded and lead Nightmare though the maze that was the Changeling Hive.

Nightmare Moon looked in a bit of awe at the coccoons overhead, filled with ponies the Changelings were feeding off of.
"Ah... Nightmare Moon." Queen Chrysalis spat out the name like she had eaten something rotten. Nightmare internally winced but met the other Queen's gaze evenly.
"Queen Chrysalis. I, Nightmare Moon, give you the right to have domain over the east of Equestria." Nightmare said. Queen Chrysalis raised an eyebrow.
"You? After you and your sister killed half of my army and my son and heir to the throne?" Chrysalis asked with narrowed slits. Nightmare winced.
"I'm trying to make up for that, Chrysalis." Nightmare replied.
"Doesn't look like it. The Elements of Harmony?"
"Destroyed and shattered."
"Fine. Just don't harm my children. Also, you're going to kill us. Ponies need the sun to love." Chrysalis replied and waved Nightmare away. Nightmare growled and followed the guards out.

Nightmare sat on her throne. She looked at her scarred moon.

Celestia groaned as she picked herself up. Dust rolled across the white area. Celestia looked at the dust. 'Snow...?' Celestia thought to herself. Then she gasped at her limp light pink hair and the chain around her neck. She gazed at the turning world below. She reached out her hoof in hopes to touch the world she was banished from.
