Nightmare Moon let out a happy sigh as a beam of sunlight cracked through the window. She opened her eyes, and smiled at the head resting closer to her own. Burst looks so peaceful. Like a sleeping dragon. Nightmare Moon thought to herself as she pulled Burst Stream closer to her. It's almost hard to believe how close we've gotten. How intimate I've been towards him. Then again, could anyone really blame me? He's given me so much.
"Wakey wakey sleepyhead." Nightmare Moon said as she nuzzled against Burst Stream. Waking the Element of Power. "As nice as it is dreaming of you, I prefer to spend time with you when you're awake."
"Really?" Burst Stream said as he stretched. "I would've thought you'd prefer keeping me up all night long. Then again, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the morning would we?"
"True enough. I could say the same for everyone though." Nightmare Moon said as she stretched her arms and wings. "It's pretty easy watching over everyone's dreams when you're used to peering into the dreamscape as a spirit."
"About that." Burst Stream said as he grabbed his clothes for the day. "How are you able to watch over everyone's dreams and still get a good night's sleep? Celestia always told me that Luna kept herself up all night until the moon had to be lowered. So how come you don't need to sleep in all day long?"
"Well, I guess it's because I'm used to the dreamscape so much." Nightmare Moon said as she headed for her own room. "Dreaming was something I did often when Luna and I were banished. I was able to observe the dreams of everyone and still maintain my own sleep."
"Cool." Burst said as he stepped out of the bathroom clad in jeans and a t-shirt. "You know, it kind of makes sense that you were crowned the Princess of Dreams. Ever since you underwent reformation, you've strived to be someone worth accepting. To be better than who you were, and reach for your dream of a world where you felt just like anyone else."
"That's one way of looking at it." Moon said as she had finished changing. "The way I see it, I've been the source of nightmares for kids ever since I first appeared. After being the stuff of nightmares for so long, I know what it takes to craft a sweet dream."
"You certainly look like you've coem straight out of a dream." Burst Stream said with a loving smile. "Especially in your outfit that you wore for the Grand Gala. Our second dance together was a lot more fun than our first."
"Don't I know it?" Nightmare Moon said with a giggle. "It's the most frequent dream I've had ever since we became a couple." She then slid up to Burst Stream and gently embraced him. "The two of us on a beautiful, starry night. Gazing into each other's eyes. The first real kiss between us. "
"Not to mention the two of us falling asleep together." Burst said with a slight blush on his face. "We've barely gone out together except for that party Pinkie threw for your coronation, and yet I wake up every morning with either your forehead touching mine or my head resting on your chest."
"Oh." Nightmare Moon said with an embarrassed look on her face. "I'm sorry if me being so intimate with you while we've not spent that much time as a couple bothers you."
"What?! No, no no!" Burst Stream frantically waved his hands in front of himself! "You've got it all wrong! We might not have been a couple for all that long, but we've gone through a lot together! Especially when we hit low points where either one of us was done. Either you or me was there to lift the other up and offer some comfort. And. . . well, I think it's kind of sweet that you're so intimate with me. To me? It just means you don't want to hold back how you feel about me."
"Could you really blame me?" Nightmare Moon said with a fond sigh. "It's thanks to you that I've come so far from my past. And to think all it took was me knocking you around a bit and the both of us tanking a beam of friendship to the everything to make it all possible."
"Well Moon, you're not wrong about the two of us not going out that much." Burst Stream said as he poured some cereal into bowls for the both of them. "Fortunately, I've got a fix for that."
"Oh?" Nightmare Moon tilted her head in interest. "And what might that be?"
"The two of us are going out dancing at a night club in Castalot." Burst Stream said with a smile. "You said that your favorite dream was the two of us dancing. And I won't lie, some of my best dreams involve that dance too. So I figured why not dance the night away?"
"I hope the music is good." Nightmare Moon said with a smirk. "The club can look as nice as it wants. But if the music can't get me moving, then it's not worth going to."
"Moon. The club's going to have Vinyl Scratch as the DJ." Burst Stream said flatly. "I don't think we're going to have anything to worry about when it comes to getting down."
". . . Nice." Nightmare Moon said with a smile. "It'll be an excellent time to break in the dress Rarity picked out for me just for a night out."
"Can't wait to see you in it." Burst Stream said with a nod. "Want me to dress up for the occasion too?"
"Oh, no need for that." Nightmare Moon said as she wrapped one of her wings around Burst Stream. "I wouldn't change you for the world my precious light."
". . . You still want me to wear my coat, don't you?" Burst asked with a chuckle.
"It's your signature garment." Nightmare Moon said with a smile. "Just like my jacket. Which I'll be wearing until we hit the dancefloor tonight."
"Well. Now all we need to do is kill a couple hours." Burst Stream said with a nod. "I'm going to find Inferno. The two of us can probably make the hours pass by. Especially since the Junior Heroes want to try and name my team's weapons. See ya in a few!"
Nightmare Moon simply smiled as she waved goodbye to Burst Stream. She then decided it wouldn't be much fun staying inside Burst's house for hours on end, so she decided to pass the time with the Main 6 by doing some of her usual activities with them. Baking with Pinkie Pie, having a race or two with Rainbow Dash, caring for the more nocturnal creatures in Fluttershy's care, being the subject of a new line Rarity had been inspired to create based on the appearance of the princesses, giving some assistance to Applejack at Sweet Apple Acres, and finally spending a couple hours at Twilight's library.
"So. Did you enjoy the infinite library dream I gave you last night?" Nightmare Moon asked as she closed the book she'd been reading. "I know you're quite the bookworm of your group. Of course, you do live in a library."
"I sure did!" Twilight answered with a warm smile. "So what's the reason for occupying yourself for these couple of hours? I never would've thought you and Burst would want some space from each other. The two of you are normally pretty close to each other."
"Don't worry. Burst and I are still pretty close." Nightmare Moon said with a dismissive wave. "We're just passing the time until our date tonight. Burst Stream's taking me out dancing at a night club. But enough about my love life." A smirk crept onto Nightmare Moon's face. "Your interest in relationships begs a certain question. How's it going over at Club Single?"
"I-I'm totally fine!" Twilight answered as her entire face flushed red! "Sure, I'm the only one of my friends not to get a romantic partner, but it's fine!"
"Hmm. Some of Burst's friends are still available." Nightmare Moon said with a mischievous giggle. "Maybe I can inform Burst of your plight. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to set you up with a few of them." Moon left once she saw Twilight nearly faint from the thought of multiple guys trying to court her. "As fun as this has been, it's almost time for the highlight of my day to happen."
Nightmare Moon went back to Burst's house, and noticed Burst Stream changing into the platinum dress shirt he'd worn at the Grand Gala. However, his outfit aside from that consisted of his usual attire of jeans and sneakers plus his signature white coat.
"Going the extra mile always pays off." Burst said with a loving smile as he exited his room. "But something tells me you'll look good no matter what you put on."
"You'll just have to wait and see." Nightmare Moon said with a flirty tone in her voice as she headed into her room and closed the door. Burst waited for about five minutes. Five minutes that were well worth the wait as Nightmare Moon stepped out of her room. "Well? Do I look good?"
Moon's outfit was a royal purple dress that covered a good portion of her upper legs and a pair of heels. It was the kind of outfit she enjoyed wearing. Showing off plenty, but keeping just enough covered. Completing that moment was the fact she was posing by holding her jacket over her shoulder.
". . . Sexy." Burst Stream said. Blushing intensely at the sight before him. "I-I mean-!"
"Sexy, am I?" Moon asked with a smirk as she walked towards Burst with an added sway to her hips. "Well, this dress does hug my body quite well. However," Moon draped one of her arms around Burst. "It doesn't hug me quite as well as you do. Not to mention it's not as warm."
"I'm. . . glad you enjoy me holding you that much." Burst said with a loving smile. "As much as I'd like to compliment you all night, and as much as you'd enjoy that, we'd better focus on the reason we've gotten dressed up." He then extended his hand. "Shall we your highness?"
"Show me the way to a good time my precious light." Nightmare Moon said as she returned the smile and took Burst's hand. The two had decided to take the train to Castalot since they could afford arriving a bit later than planned. "Hey, Burst?"
"Hm?" Burst turned his attention to Moon. "What's up?"
"Is it. . . normal to feel nervous on a first date?" Nightmare Moon asked with a slight blush forming on her face. "I know we've spent a lot of time together, but this is our first outing as a couple. I've never had a lover before, so I really don't know what to do."
"Don't worry Moon." Burst said with a reassuring smile. "I was panicking during my first date with Celestia. I almost thought she'd cancelled on me I was waiting so long." He then took hold of Nightmare Moon's hand. "And don't worry. Just follow your heart, and you'll be fine. It's what I've done. And considering I've wound up being the lover of two goddesses, I'd say it works pretty well."
". . . Thank you." Nightmare Moon said with a relieved smile. Sure enough, the train came to a stop in Castalot Station. "So. What are the chances we're going to have to wait in an impossibly long line just to even stand a chance of getting in?"
"Don't worry!" Burst said with a chuckle. "Vinyl managed to score me some VIP passes for me and my friends as a little 'thank you' gift for how many times we've saved the world. Of course, you're the latest princess. Chances are they'd let you in the instant you walked up to the door."
"How about we test that out?" Nightmare Moon asked with a smirk as she teleported the two to the club's entrance. "Hi there! I was wondering if you'd-" The doormen immediately flung the doors open. "Huh. Talk about the royal treatment. Thank you." The bouncers remarked that having one of the princesses of the night party at the club was the greatest honor a night club could have.
"Well, we came here to dance the night away." Burst Stream said. He then gestured to the dance floor. "So who do you want to lead?"
"You're the one who planned this." Nightmare Moon said with a smile as she took in the lights and music going on around them as they got closer to the dance floor. "Shouldn't you finish what you've started."
Burst didn't need any more of an invitation as he took Moon by the hand, and led her to the dance floor. Much to his surprise Nightmare Moon moved quite well. Gyrating her body to the music that was playing. The way she moved was almost hypnotic as Burst was entranced by her movements. Moon was also quite taken with Burst's dancing skills.
They had come as a couple, so Nightmare Moon decided to get a bit more intimate with her movements as she gradually closed the distance between herself and Burst Stream. Eventually, the two of them were only a few inches apart. And Moon gave Burst a look that seemed to ask him what he was going to do about their closeness. Burst's response was to grab onto Moon's hips as the two of them danced together. Moon happily pulling Burst's head closer to hers with a pleased smile. Their movements slowing down to enjoy how close they were.
Sure enough, Vinyl Scratch put on a slow song. Every couple on the dance floor immediately slowed themselves down to enjoy the calmer pace. Burst and Moon's dancing was practically slowed to a crawl as they just rocked to the music.
"I love the way you're holding me." Moon whispered to Burst. "It makes me feel like we're lovers."
"Hey. That's what we are." Burst whispered back as he nuzzled against the princess of dreams. "Also, I'm pretty sure you've been dreaming of a moment like this ever since our dance at the last gala. I know I have."
Hearing this made Nightmare Moon's heart flutter. "You know, I think all this dancing's built up my appetite."
"Mine too." Burst Stream said with a smile. "Best times to grab a bite to eat is after we've had our fill of the party." The couple exited the club, and grabbed a quick bit to eat before Moon teleported the two of them back home. "So, did you have fun tonight?"
"It was better than any dream I could've had of our first date." Nightmare Moon said with a fond sigh. "But there's one thing that could make it better."
"Really?" Burst Stream asked as he removed his coat, and had just taken off his shoes and shirt. "What's that?" Burst then saw Moon in little more than her undergarments walking towards him.
"You kissing me." Nightmare Moon said with an affectionate smile before wrapping her arms around Burst Stream. "That would make tonight complete."
"But don't I kiss you all the time?"
"No." Nightmare Moon shook her head. Her teal eyes staring longingly into Burst's brilliant blue eyes. "I've been noticing that it's usually me who initiates the kiss. I'm normally the one bringing my lips to yours." Saying this gradually made her blush, and she then whispered into Burst's ear. "I want to know that I'm yours just as much as you're mine."
". . . " Burst was silent as he put his hands on Moon's hips. "All you had to do was ask." And with that, Burst Stream put his lips to Nightmare Moon's. The two falling onto Burst's bed as the intensity of their kissing soon turned into a make-out session. The two falling asleep in each other's arms. This time, Nightmare Moon was the one whose head was resting against a chest.
