After the Friendship Games

Chapter 1

After The Friendship Games

Sunny Flare yawned as she strolled out of the school. She twirled a strand of her hair, while walking towards the bus stop.

She sat on the bench and took out her phone, before texting on it.

"Boo!!"

Sunny Flare let out a shriek, practically shooting her phone up in the air.

A green haired girl with pink headphones fell to the ground, laughing. Sunny Flare quickly grabbed her phone before it hit the ground.

"Lemon Zest!" she said, glaring at the laughing girl. "That's not nice, you could've given me a heart attack!"

"It was worth it!" Lemon Zest chortled, as she got up.

"It was rather entertaining to see you flip out like that,” a flat and emotionless voice said.

Sugarcoat, a white haired pigtailed girl with orange rimmed glasses walked up to the two Shadowbolts. She had a very small smirk on her face, but other than that, she looked like she just didn't give a damn.

"Thanks, Sugarcoat. You're always here to make me feel better,” Sunny Flare said with a rather large hint of sarcasm.

"Your sarcasm is duly noted. My pleasure to do so,” Sugarcoat said, adjusting her glasses.

"Ha ha,” Sunny Flare said. Then two new girls arrived, Sour Sweet and Indigo Zap.

"Oh, look! We're all here! The super duper annoying girls of Crystal Prep!" Sour Sweet said, with a forced smile.

"Good to see you, Sour Sweet. You too, Indigo Zap,” Sugarcoat said.

"You're kidding,” Indigo Zap said. "You're happy to see us? More importantly, her?"

Sugarcoat smiled. "Have I ever lied in my life?", she asked.

"...no..." Indigo Zap said.

Sugarcoat just took out her phone and started texting on it.

"Don't even think about it,” Sugarcoat said, when Lemon Zest was about to get behind her.

"You're no fun,” Lemon Zest pouted.

"So, spring break, huh?" Indigo Zap said.

"Where do we go? Or what do we do?" Sunny Flare asked.

"I don't know. Wanna go to Sugarcube Corner?" Lemon Zest asked. "I'm in the mood for a drink."

"Mint chocolate mocha!" Indigo Zap said, excitedly.

"Yeah! Let's go to the little cafe in town where our school enemies happen to go to!" Sour Sweet hissed.

"Shut up, you're ruining the mood,” Sunny Flare said. Sour Sweet just seethed angrily.

Sugarcoat smiled. "I am craving a vanilla and strawberry milkshake,” she said.

"Drinks are on me,” Lemon Zest said.

"OK, let's dump our drinks on Lemon Zest when we get them,” Indigo Zap said.

Sunny Flare giggled. "I like the sound of that.", she said. She pressed a button on her electronic bracelets before she took out her wallet. "I'll be paying for my drink, thank you very much."

"OK. Fine with me,” Lemon Zest said.

"Cool! Let's walk!" Indigo Zap said.

The five girls walked away from the school and towards the city, where Sugarcube Corner was.

"Hello, and how may I take your order?" Mrs. Cake asked.

"One medium sized vanilla strawberry milkshake, one large mint chocolate mocha, a small mocha iced coffee, a small vanilla milkshake, and a medium s'mores latte. And five slices of vanilla cake.” Sunny Flare said.

"On it,” Mrs. Cake said, as Sunny Flare and Lemon Zest paid for the drinks.

The five Shadowbolts sat at a table, waiting for their orders.

"This place is nice,” Sunny Flare said.

"Yeah. Very social,” Sugarcoat said.

Lemon Zest was busy rocking out on her music, while Sour Sweet and Indigo Zap were texting other people.

"I didn't know you were capable of sarcasm.", Sunny Flare said.

"What? No, I was talking about everyone else.", Sugarcoat said.

Sure enough, everyone was all busy talking and laughing with each other.

"Oh,” Sunny Flare said. “I haven’t really seen much talking between individuals.”

“I feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t do big talking,” Lemon Zest said, lowering her volume a bit.

“Ditto,” Indigo Zap mumbled.

“By the way, I am capable of sarcasm,” Sugarcoat added.

Then Mr. Cake came over with their orders. He gave the vanilla strawberry shake to Sugarcoat, the mint chocolate mocha to Indigo Zap, the small vanilla milkshake to Lemon Zest, the mocha iced coffee to Sour Sweet, and the s'mores latte to Sunny Flare. Each of them also got their slice of cake.

"Thanks.", Lemon Zest said. The man nodded and walked back to the counter.

"So, what are we gonna do for spring break?" Indigo Zap asked,

"I dunno. Maybe we can check on Twilight or something?" Lemon Zest suggested.

"Really? She's a Wondercolt now." Sunny Flare said.

"And we weren't exactly nice to her, so I'm not sure she'll be thrilled to see us again so soon,” Sugarcoat said.

"Yeah...", Indigo Zap said. “In fact I doubt she’d ever wanna see us.”

"She must be so happy at that crappy no good school!", Sour Sweet said, before violently sipping her drink under the looks of her friends.

“You know, your sweet side seems to be taking a break today,” Sugarcoat said.

“It’s been on break since the Friendship Games a few weeks back,” Sour Sweet said, not as sour, just neutral.

"You know, it's actually not that bad of a school,” Lemon Zest said.

“Huh? What makes you say that?” Indigo Zap said.

“Uhh...I may have...uhh...” Lemon Zest mumbled, as she started fumbling over her words. The green haired girl was immediately dog piled by stares at the table around her.

“You may have what?” Sugarcoat asked, merely sounding curious rather than intimidating.

“May have...befriended a Wondercolt?” the music junkie croaked.

Sunny Flare turned and glared at Lemon Zest. "What's wrong with you? Are you gonna transfer to Canterlot?", she asked.

"No. I...I just gave a friend in Canterlot High, nothing more,” Lemon Zest said.

"Lemme guess, that DJ blue haired red eyed swirly glasses girl?", Indigo Zap asked, before forking a piece of cake in her mouth.

"...yeah,” Lemon Zest said, sheepishly.

"I see why you would become friends.", Sugarcoat said.

"Thank you!", Lemon Zest said.

"Though I also see why the others would despise you for it.", Sugarcoat added.

"Thank you,” Lemon Zest deadpanned, taking a sip of her drink.

"She seems cool, so I don't really despise her, or care about her,” Indigo Zap said. “So I just don’t give a damn.”

"Thank you?", Lemon Zest asked, a little bit confused.

“Don’t worry about it, it’s not like people will notice your friend anyway,” Sour Sweet said, as Lemon Zest snagged her drink.

“Gee, thanks...” she mumbled, before sipping it.

Sunny Flare rolled her eyes, before sipping her s'mores latte. "You know, I actually do kinda miss Twilight,” she said.

"Yeah. Me too. It totally sucks having no one to pick on!", Sour Sweet said.

"Sour Sweet!" Sunny Flare said, in a bit of surprise. "That's a bit rude."

"Says the one who started picking on her in the first place,” Lemon Zest said.

Sunny Flare was about to retort, when she realized she was right.

"Wow, I really do know nothing about friendship,” Sunny Flare said.

Not just that, I think we’re all bitches to her at some point in our life...that some point being every day,” Indigo Zap said, biting her cake.

"And I believe that goes for the rest of the whole school,” Sugarcoat said.

Indigo Zap and Sour Sweet nodded, and the five sat there, degrees of guiltiness crossed on their faces.

"We should pay them a visit,” Sunny Flare said.

"Yeah. Let's finish up and go,” Indigo Zap said, as she began downing the rest of her mocha.

“Wait, really?” Sour Sweet asked.

“Why not? Us Crystal Prep students are sure as hell not bullies,” Sunny Flare said.

“I beg to differ, Sunny Glare,” Sugarcoat said, a cynical eyebrow raised look on her face. Said girl glared at the pigtailed girl, before looking away.

“I don’t look that mad...” she grumbled.

“I beg to differ,” Indigo Zap said, a hint of smug attitude in her tone.

The five finished and left the cafe, on the way to Canterlot High.

The five Shadowbolts walked towards Canterlot High School. Sunny Flare was on her phone, while Sugarcoat read a book. Indigo Zap and Sour Sweet were just walking, and Lemon Zest just jammed to her music.

Lemon Zest nodded her head to the beat of whatever demon was playing on her music, which could easily be heard from way beyond her headphones.

Indigo Zap glared at the green haired rocker. "Geez, how're you not deaf yet?" she asked.

Lemon Zest paused her music and took her headphones off, slinging them around her neck. "I'm immune to being deaf,” she said.

"That sounds about right,” Sugarcoat said, bluntly, as usual.

"You know, if you keep listening to loud music, your brain will just produce earwax faster, and your ears will pretty much be plugged,” Sunny Flare said.

Lemon Zest picked at her ear. "What?" she asked.

"...never mind,” Sunny Flare said.

"So much for being immune to being deaf,” Indigo Zap muttered.

“I’m not immune to smart ass comments, dude,” Lemon Zest said.

Sour Sweet and Sugarcoat just ignored them.

"We're here,” Sunny Flare said.

"Wow. It seems like not long ago that we've been here,” Sugarcoat said.

"It has been a few weeks..." Sour Sweet said.

"Hey, there's Twilight!" Indigo Zap said, pointing to a familiar violet and purple haired girl, along with a familiar looking fiery bacon haired girl.

"Isn't that the other girl that turned into an angel while Twilight turned into that she-demon?" Sugarcoat asked.

"Yeah,” Indigo Zap and Sour Sweet said, sighing.

"Come on, let's go say hi,” Sunny Flare said. She hurried over, as did the other tour.

Twilight Sparkle turned and saw the same five Shadowbolts at her old school. Her smile disappeared as she turned back to her friend, Sunset Shimmer, panic now etched on her face.

"It's them! What do I do?" Twilight asked.

"Act cool, say hi,” Sunset said, as the five girls walked towards them. “I don’t think they’d walk over to this school just to do smack at you again.”

“I hope not,” Twilight said, clenching her shaking fist as the five girls came over.

"Hey, Twilight!" Sour Sweet said, cheerfully.

"H-hi, Sour Sweet,” Twilight said, nervously.

Sour Sweet growled and turned to the other girls, a scowl on her features. “I said hi, can I go now?” she hissed.

"Why're you here?" Sunset Shimmer asked sternly, crossing her arms.

"We...we wanted to apologize,” Lemon Zest said. "Apologizing for all the times we've been dicks to you."

"Not me,” Sugarcoat said.

"Sugarcoat!” Sunny Flare cried.

"What? You know I can't lie,” Sugarcoat said.

Twilight sighed. "Thanks for the honesty, Sugarcoat, but-", she said.

"I may not want to apologize for being a jerk, but I want you to know that we all still miss you,” Sugarcoat finished.

"Oh. Thank you,” Twilight said, a little bit relaxed now.

"Seriously, dude. We actually feel bad about being a jerk and a bully. Especially at the Friendship Games,” Lemon Zest said.

"We hope you can forgive us. And if you can't, then...I beg that you can trust us,” Sunny Flare said.

Twilight Sparkle looked over to Sunset Shimmer, who shrugged.

“Well...” Twilight said.

“How about we go to the arcade next week? Our treat,” Indigo Zap said, slapping an arm on Twilight’s back.

“Well, I-I...” Twilight said.

“Or a day at the spa?” Sunny Flare asked.

“I...I suppose-“

“Concert?” Lemon Zest suggested.

“Umm...”

“A week without getting nagged constantly by us so you can do whatever you want without any constant apologies for being manipulative pricks during the Friendship Games?” Sugarcoat asked.

Everyone looked to Sugarcoat, looks of confusion and disbelief around her.

“What?” she asked.

“Wow...” Sour Sweet said.

“Too far, man,” Lemon Zest said, a look of slight hurt but other than that, annoyance on her face.

“C-can I speak?” Twilight asked. The five Shadowbolts looked to her.

"I...I think I can trust you to not be mean and cruel anymore. Sugarcoat will still be blunt, so...might as well get used to it.", Twilight Sparkle said.

The Shadowbolts smiled, seeing as they had a chance in gaining Twilight Sparkle's trust.

“Thank you, you won’t regret this!” Sunny Flare said, excitedly.

“Totally! Not totally regret it, but totally not regret giving us a chance!” Lemon Zest said.

“OK,” Sugarcoat said.

YAY!!” Sour Sweet cheered in a tone that was impossible to tell whether it was sour or sweet.

Sunset Shimmer smiled, before walking up to Twilight and putting a hand on her shoulder.

"We both have to go, there's after school Rainboom practice, so see ya around, I guess,” Sunset Shimmer said.

"Bye!" Twilight Sparkle said, before she and Sunset Shimmer ran back to the school.

"Bye!” Lemon Zest called.

“See ya!” Indigo Zap yelled. There was an awkward silence, before Indigo Zap broke the silence.

"Should we've asked if we could see their practice?" Indigo Zap asked.

"...oh,” Sunny Flare muttered.

“I heard they make good music,” Lemon Zest said.

"Maybe next time. If we still have to visit her!" Sour Sweet said.

More awkward silence.

"Wanna go somewhere else?" Sugarcoat asked.

"Sure,” Sunny Flare said.

"Cool,” Indigo Zap said.

The five Shadowbolts left, heading back to the city to spend some more time together.
