Episode 11: A Somber Revival

The icy winds of the Frozen North howled as snow blew through the air. However, it all seemed to be centered around a single, broken-off horn. The howling wind seemed to die down as a lone figure approached the horn. "After so many years, I've found you once more." The figure's voice was a woman's. She then picked up Sombra's horn, and carried it with her into a small hut. The woman then removed the hood she was wearing.

She had purple skin, light blue hair and eyes, and the mark of a caduceus staff on her hand. This Magi was Radiant Hope. The only friend Sombra ever had. "Don't worry Sombra." Hope's hands glowed with the light blue aura of her magic as she channeled a healing spell into Sombra's horn. "You won't be alone much longer."

The remains of Sombra's horn were wrapped in the healing spell! The horn itself seemed to dematerialized and rematerialize! A moment later, and Sombra lay on the ground. However there were two major differences about his regenerated form. He had no horn, and no armor. The former tyrant gasped as he felt his heart beat once more. "What. . . what is this?! Why do I live again?!"

"Sombra!" Hope cheered as she embraced her old friend. "It's been so long! But now we're together again! And we don't have to be alone anymore!"

Sombra distanced himself slightly. "Hope? Is that you? How are you even alive?! A thousand years have passed! But you haven't aged!"

"It was thanks to your people Sombra." Hope said with a smile. "I was put into stasis because they knew you and I were close. I heard that you'd been killed. That some 'hero' had cut you down!" Radiant Hope clenched her fists. "You didn't deserve that. Or to be isolated." She then reached out her hand towards Sombra. "You have every right to be mad at me for telling the princesses about y-"

Sombra slapped away Radiant Hope's hand. "That's the reason you have for me thinking that you betrayed me?" Sombra looked at the ground, and his whole body trembled. "You really think that's the betrayal that made me feel so alone in this world? No. What you did was FAR worse." Tears fell from Sombra's face as his body continued to tremble in both sorrow and rage. "You said you were my best friend. That you would save me and always be there for me."

Radiant Hope was about to reach out toward Sombra when he snapped his head upward to meet her gaze! Tears and dark magic were leaking from his eyes. "SO WHY DIDN'T YOU TRY TO STOP ME YOURSELF?! WHERE WERE YOU WHEN PRINCESS AMORE TRIED TO TALK ME DOWN?!" Radiant Hope was about to answer, but Sombra already knew what she was going to say. "The answer's simple. You were afraid. Afraid that you couldn't handle me because of what you saw me do."

"Sombra. . . please calm down." Radiant Hope pleaded. "You're right. I was afraid. Afraid that I'd lost you forever and that I couldn't save you myself. Please, understand! I. . . I love you."

Sombra snapped his head in Radiant Hope's direction. "You 'love' me? YOU STILL DON'T GET IT!" Sombra took one step towards Radiant Hope. "When I came to steal the Crystal Heart, something inside me kept hoping I would see you when I was about to do the deed. Part of me hoped you would get in my way! That you would be able to save me, and heal me like you had done before! BUT WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Sombra's tears were of both rage and sadness. "YOU RAN AWAY FROM ME AFTER I TURNED PRINCESS AMORE TO CRYSTAL AND SHATTERED HER! LEAVING ME WITH THE MOST GUILT AND SORROW I'D EVER FELT IN MY LIFE! ALL BECAUSE YOU REALLY THOUGHT I HAD FULLY BECOME THE MONSTER I SAW IN THAT DAMN VISION!" He then pointed right at Radiant Hope! "THAT IS YOUR BETRAYAL OF ME!"

Sombra's dark magic cut off. Leaving only his tears. "I did deserve what happened to me Hope. Because I willingly did all those horrible things to the people of the Crystal Empire. And that made me no better than the children who mocked me and treated me as an outcast. Because I became the monster that I saw I could become. It was only when the Umbrum betrayed me that I saw the truth of all I'd done. The hurt never went away. It just kept growing. And now? I need to leave."

"NO!" Radiant Hope screamed as she latched onto Sombra's arm! "You've already paid for what you've done with your life! Both of us have been through enough isolation and loneliness! I would have done anything to get you back Sombra! I would have unleashed the Umbrum or made an alliance with the foes of the Elements of Harmony! Just because I couldn't bear a world without you!"

Sombra was horrified. "You're not Radiant Hope." He said quietly. "The Hope I knew would never go that far. Because she hated seeing others hurt and would never wish harm on anyone. As far as I'm concerned, King Sombra and Radiant Hope are dead." He opened the door and was greeted with a blast of chilling wind. "Farewell."

Sombra journeyed his way over to the entrance of the Crystal Empire. He was chilled to the bone by the time he stepped through. To his surprise, he didn't feel the Crystal Heart sapping his life away. "I guess my death as a man let me be reborn as one." Many of the people were wary of his sudden revival, and the guards instantly rushed onto the scene! Shining Armor at the front.

"King Sombra! What are you doing here?!" Shining Armor demanded! "The Crystal Empire is under my protection now! And I refuse to let you take it!"

Sombra blinked in surprise. ". . . Do you have any vacancy in the dungeon?" A few minutes later, Sombra found himself in chains and in a cell. "Well, I guess I'm back in old house technically." Only question is what to do now?
