//------------------------------// // Band: Nunavut Bay // Story: Sly Cooper: Family of Thieves // by Blackdrag-rose //------------------------------// The first thing that Sly and the others did was get into contact with Secretary Sen the moment they stopped for the night, where Bentley sent him an email explaining what had happened at the Contessa's castle and that they had managed to save Carmelita from a terrible fate. Fortunately, when morning arrived, there was a response email from Sen that told them of a safe house they could use for some time, to help Carmelita recover a little before they moved after Jean Bison, though at the same time he also informed them that he was sending in an expert, one that was going to check Carmelita's mind and make sure that the Contessa hadn't done anything to her. For the most part the only thing that Carmelita could tell them was that the Contessa forced her to eat foods that were covered in spice, the same illegal spice that she used on the inmates in her prison, though Sly was quick to tell her that, once she had a rage induced episode, which she had against the Contessa, the spice would be cleansed from her body on its own. Still, despite that fact, Carmelita spent the majority of the ride to the safe house cuddling with Sly, not wanting to let go of him since their separation, though at the same time Sly wasn't about to complain, since he had been hoping for this some day... though, in all honesty, he had hoped that it would have been under different circumstances. Along the way to the safe house Carmelita heard the tale of how Bentley, Derpy, Gilda, and Diz broke Sly and Murray out of their own cells, which allowed her to understand why Diz was still in his female form, something that she was still trying to reverse and wasn't having any luck... though eventually they switched to a different topic, since speaking of what happened to them was a touchy subject still and it only reminded Carmelita of what she had been through. When they arrived at the safe house they found that it was large enough to accommodate all of them and had an area where Murray could hide the van for some time, to which he parked it and they unloaded their gear, preparing themselves for the arrival of Sen and his expert. Thirty minutes after their arrival, however, they found that Secretary Sen's expert was none other than Mz. Ruby, who immediately told them that, after the time she spent with Derpy, Gilda, and Diz, training them in the art of wielding magic, she had decided to turn over a new leaf. Carmelita was a little nervous, since she was entrusting the safety of her mind to someone who had stolen the Thievius Raccoonus, but Secretary Sen said that Mz. Ruby's gesture was real and that she wasn't faking any of it, to which she nodded and headed into the room that the Voodoo Priestess wanted to work in. At the same time, however, Sen pulled Sly and the others aside and shared some additional news with them, that the Contessa would be receiving a life's sentence, with little chance of parole, and that all her assets were being claimed as they spoke... meaning that, by messing with the Cooper Gang, the life she had built for herself was gone, everything she owned was gone, and everything that she ever cared for was gone. Sly didn't know if he should feel pleased or displeased with the outcome, since they had pretty much destroyed the Contessa's life for messing with their gang and she might even be trying to beg for something, anything, that would make everything better... but, since she had ignored a direct order from a Secretary, there was nothing he or his gang could do in this situation, as the Contessa had brought this upon herself, and this was the fate that was awaiting Neyla as well. "Sly, would you spare me a moment?" Sen asked, surprising the group for a moment, though after a few seconds Sly nodded and followed him outside, leaving the others to discuss what was going to happen next, when they went after Jean Bison and his Clockwerk parts. "Sir, is something wrong?" Sly inquired, though while he knew that there was already a number of things that were wrong at the moment, with the way that Carmelita was being treated being at the top of his list, he had to wonder if something else had happened. "It's about Neyla," Sen replied, making sure that he was out of Carmelita's earshot, because he didn't want to cause her any unnecessary pain and was only telling Sly because he was the person that cared for Carmelita will all his heart, and who would do anything to cheer her up, "I'm afraid that, given all of the events that have transpired in the last week or two, that got something terrible planned for Carmelita, something worse than what the Contessa did to her, yet Barkley insists that she's unavailable and is currently in the field. I heard from one of Carmelita's co-workers that Neyla asked them a bunch of questions and recorded their answers... so be careful the next time you see her out in the field." "We will sir," Sly said, though he wondered what Neyla was even attempting at the moment, and he was sure that the Secretary was thinking the same thing, before he turned towards Sen, "If we find out what Neyla was planning with those questions, we'll send the information to you immediately." Secretary Sen nodded his head, pleased that Sly was going to do everything in his power to save Carmelita from being hurt by Neyla again, because Carmelita was, in his opinion, one of the greatest cops of her generation, especially with her talent to mimic and learn the Cooper techniques from simply watching them in action. Even if Carmelita never caught the Cooper Gang, which she'd never be able to do unless they broke the rules, she could use those techniques to help her catch other criminals, but right now that bright future was in jeopardy because of a corrupt Constable and another corrupt Inspector. He needed the Cooper Gang to get to the bottom of why the Klaww Gang wanted the Clockwerk parts and the purpose behind their spice operation, though something told him that there was something sinister going on here... and, if his feelings were correct, it had to do with the resurrection of Clockwerk, something that he hoped he was wrong about. After his talk with Secretary Sen, and hearing what he had to say, Sly and the gang spent an entire week in the safe house, letting Mz. Ruby examine Carmelita and her mind, though at the same time he asked Sen if it was okay for them to leave the Clockwerk parts here, under the watchful eyes of people he trusted. Fortunately the Secretary agreed and even helped unload the various parts into a room of the safe house, where he would call in some backup once the gang had left for the next member of the Klaww Gang. When the seventh day arrived, however, Mz. Ruby had good news for all of them, Carmelita was perfectly fine, much to the joy of the entire gang, with Sly being the happiest of them all, while making Sen happy that nothing had happened to her as well. Whatever the Contessa had been trying to do to Carmelita hadn't taken a hold and there weren't any triggers that would cause her to change, which was good news for the gang when they heard it, though as the day moved on Carmelita remained in her room for some time while the others gathered their gear as they prepared to depart for Canada. Sly wondered what was she thinking about, as there were a number of things that could be going through her mind at the moment, though when Bentley said that they were getting ready to leave the safe house Sly knocked on the door and found that it was open... though when he entered the room, however, he found that Carmelita wasn't wearing her Inspector attire anymore, rather she was wearing her thief attire and her mask. "Carmelita, is something wrong?" Sly asked, as while he knew that Secretary Sen approved of Carmelita doing this, being a thief part of the time to assist with recovering the Clockwerk parts, he wondered why she was choosing this over her cop attire. "No... I'm just eager to get back to work." Carmelita replied, to which she packed away her cop attire and her shock pistol, before she picked up her pack and walked out of the room, where she made sure that Sly was walking beside her the entire time, "Come on, let's go see what Jean Bison is up to and take his Clockwerk parts back." Sly smiled a little, as it appeared that having an objective in mind was helping her improve, to which he walked alongside Carmelita and they climbed into the van without leaving anything behind, though once they were ready Murray got underway and they left the safe house behind as they headed towards where Jean Bison was located. Based on the information that Secretary Sen had given them, and the trail of spice shipments themselves, the gang made their way to Nunavut Bay, Canada, which happened to be the secret hub of Jean Bison's shipping empire and, more importantly, their next target. Thanks to their information they knew that, as a young man, Jean Bison trekked across Canada to strike it rich during the Gold Rush of 1852, where he was an avid prospector and took some chances, though one ended with him being buried alive in an avalanche. Miraculously, the quick freeze kept him alive, and one hundred and twenty years later, thanks to global warming, he thawed out of his icy prison and returned to civilization, though he kept the mindset of his time, which included taming the 'Wild North', which Bentley described as damming every river and chopping down all the trees with progress delivered at the sharp end of an ax. Bentley was also able to determine that shipping spice for the Klaww Gang proved a lucrative way for the man to bankroll his one-man war against nature... and yet the gang actually felt a little sorry for him. Jean Bison, based on his appearance and habits, was just a normal guy from the 1850s, where back in his day he would have been a hero, but today, unfortunately, he was labeled as a villain. Despite those facts, however, the gang knew that he had more than his fair share of the Clockwerk parts, though Bentley had no idea what a low tech guy like Jean Bison was doing with robot parts... and it was only a matter of time until the gang figured out what he was going with whatever parts he had taken. When they arrived at their destination they found a building on the pier, the only one as it turned out, that had more than enough room for them to set up their base without Jean Bison's guards figuring out that they were there, but, at the same time, they needed some information on the area before they did any major objectives. As such Bentley had Gilda, Derpy, and Diz go out and survey the area for a few minutes, make notes of the major structures that were around them, and anything else of importance, while he, Sly, Carmelita, and Murray made sure the safe house was ready for their operation. After ten or twenty minutes the magical trio returned to the safe house and gave Bentley the pictures that served as his notes for the area, which he compared to the last map of the area that he had uncovered and, after setting everything up, he declared that they were now ready for the first mission against Jean Bison, to which he turned towards Sly and Carmelita for a moment. "Despite not knowing much about this area, before this point, I did have a lead on the Clockwerk parts," Bentley said, where he focused on Sly and Carmelita, as this was the best time to let Carmelita get back into the action and remember what she had been doing before Neyla's betrayal, "Sly, Carmelita, are you two up for a small trek through the wilderness and the cabins around the area?" "Sure, I'm eager to recover the other Clockwerk parts," Carmelita replied, as she wanted to put the torment she had been through behind her, and that meant that she needed to focus her mind on something else, to which she stood up and turned towards Sly, "Sly, are you ready to get moving?" "Whenever you're ready to leave." Sly said, to which he picked up his cane and smiled at her, because he was happy to see that the love of his life was much better than when they had rescued her from the Contessa, and the gang was glad to have her back at long last. Together Sly and Carmelita walked out of the safe house and headed into the small town that was almost right outside their base, to which they snuck into the town and noticed that the guards that were wandering around were mountain goats, gooses, moose, and some moles that hid beneath the ground. What was interesting was when Sly spotted a treasure pocket, from one of the moose guards, and picked his pocket, where he recovered a solid gold bar that surprised both of them for a moment, though instead of letting themselves be seen they disappeared into the shadows and continued towards their destination. Along the way Carmelita, in order to remember some of her moves that she had learned from watching Sly, used the environment to make sure she wasn't rusty with her skills and Sly made sure that she was as skilled as thought she was. At the same time she picked a few pockets, to be sure that she remembered that teaching as well, though she was surprised when she picked a ruby from one of the pockets that she picked, adding it to the treasure that she and Sly were already collecting, so Bentley could sell it when he decided to sell stuff off. Once Carmelita was done practicing her skills, and remembered all the stuff that she had seen in the past, they headed over to the mission area and found that it was in the middle of a river, on a stone that was below a cabin, though when they came to a stop they both pulled out their binocucoms and let Bentley talk to them. "That cabin may seem rustic, but don't be fooled, it's the control center for Jean Bison's train empire." Bentley told them, though at the same time they focused on the cabin in question, as it was one of the key locations that Gilda, Derpy, and Diz had taken a picture of during their survey of the area, "I need the two of you to sneak inside and raid his files, as you're sure to find out where he keeps his Clockwerk parts." "Ransacking his files doesn't sound hard, now climbing up a sheer rock wall..." Carmelita said, staring at the rock wall that was in front of them, because she was sure that there was a way for them to climb it, but based on her incomplete knowledge of the Cooper Techniques she had no idea which skill they needed in this situation, "that'll be a challenge." "The two of you are in luck." Bentley replied, as he had figured out something from the information he had been given, along with the pieces that he was able to gleam from the pictures from earlier, "Before Jean Bison took over this used to be a popular destination for rock climbers. Some of their old wall hooks are still around." "You know, based on the other techniques, I'm guessing that we just need to jump and latch onto the hook." Sly said, as it seemed like common sense when he thought about it, though at the same time Carmelita seemed to be nodding her head, as she understood what he was talking about. "That's correct." Bentley stated, as he was pleased that his simple explanation on the subject was more than enough to get Sly to understand what he was talking about, while also giving Carmelita a chance to see something new and put her mind on something that wasn't what happened to her, "And remember to lean back before you spring off the hook... you'll get more altitude." "Thanks for the tip," Carmelita said, though hearing that there were hooks all over the place, and she could see a few from where she was standing, meant that things would be easier for them once they got moving and practiced this skill a few times while they were at it, "We'll be sure to give it a try." Sly and Carmelita walked over to the rock wall that was in front of them, where they found no guards in their immediate vicinity, before Sly latched onto the hook with his cane as he jumped on the wall, where he leaned back a little and sprung himself forward. Fortunately he was able to grab the second hook that was above him and repeated the process, allowing him to reach the top of the rock wall in moments, much to his delight since he had figured out the technique rather easily, before he turned around and beckoned for Carmelita to join him. He then watched as Carmelita latched onto the hook and propelled herself forward, along with using the second hook to reach where he was standing, to which she smiled at him as she walked over to the cabin's entrance, where Sly smiled and followed her, so that way they could enter the building together. When they entered the cabin, however, they found the Klaww Gang member they were here to rob standing at the back of the cabin, staring at the flames of his fire for a moment, while at the same time a speakerphone was sitting nearby... though, to be sure that they weren't seen, they carefully hid themselves behind some stacked up spice barrels and waited to see if their target had any information for them. "Jackpot!" Carmelita whispered, speaking softly while they stared at the person that was their target, because she knew that the proper course of action was to make sure that neither of them were caught, otherwise Jean Bison would likely raise the alarm and they'd have to come back later, "Sly, that's Jean Bison!" "Yeah, it is." Sly said, agreeing with Carmelita, though at the same time he honestly wasn't expecting their target to be here, especially since he thought that he would have been somewhere else, overseeing his part of the operations that the Klaww Gang put him in charge of, "It looks like he didn't notice us come in." "Let's just stay out of sight for now and take some pictures of his train routes," Carmelita stated, as she had shifted her gaze to the upper part of the cabin and found three picture frames up there, which had to be what Bentley wanted them to find at the moment, "they should help Bentley narrow our search for Jean Bison's share of the Clockwerk parts." "Sounds like a plan." Sly said, not surprised that Carmelita, who had spent her time learning how to be a thief by simply watching how he and the others operated, had come up with a good idea for the beginning of their operation, but at the same time they remained silent as the speakerphone came online. Hello, Arpeggio here. a voice said, though both Sly and Carmelita stiffened, because they weren't actually expecting Jean Bison to be speaking with the other remaining member of the Klaww Gang, though at the same time they remained silent as they listened to what was going on. "Salutations, Mr. Arpeggio." Jean Bison said, though at the same time he started moving around the room, which meant that it was even more dangerous for them to move, especially since he was likely looking around the room while he walked a little, "Y'all got time to shoot the breeze?" Of course, for you, Jean, always, Arpeggio replied, where they heard a slight bit of annoyance in his voice, indicating that something was bothering him, though it didn't seem like Jean Bison heard it, as he continued walking, though must we communicate through that dreadful speakerphone? "Yeah, I can think better while my legs move," Jean Bison commented, where the duo believed that it was more because of his upbringing and not wanting to completely bow his head to the modern world that he had found himself in when the ice thawed, "pumps blood to your brain." Yes, of course, one must keep blood in one's brain, Arpeggio said, agreeing with what Jean Bison was saying, though at the same time the way he said the word 'brain' told Sly and Carmelita exactly which part of Clockwerk the final member of the Klaww Gang had taken, but do tell. Is there some pressing matter you'd like to discuss? "First off, are you still coming on schedule to get that Northern Light Battery?" Jean Bison asked, though as he continued to walk around the room Carmelita carefully slipped her canes into their holders and withdrew a pad that she could write on, something she had taken from the safe house Secretary Sen had set up for them, and carefully wrote down 'Northern Light Battery' with a question mark at the end. Yes, we're well underway. Arpeggio replied, though now he sounded pleased about something, where the shift in his tone told the duo that they might discuss their plan together and that it would be wise for Carmelita to write everything down before they got the pictures they needed, My blimp should arrive at the end of the week. "Bullseye." Jean Bison said, his tone revealing that he was extremely pleased about the situation that they found themselves in, while at the same time preparing himself for another part of the conversation, "For second, when are you going to give me a look-see at that Clockwerk Brain of yours? I'd sure like to buy it off ya." Bison, you covetous troglodyte. Arpeggio replied, though where the duo thought he'd be upset by the statement it actually sounded like they had this type of conversation before and he found it amusing for some odd reason, You've already got the lion's share of the parts. Would you take my meager portion of the robotic bird for your own and strip me of all my earthly pleasures? "Easy there, partner, you're all up in a lather." Jean Bison answered, once more confirming that this was something that they did whenever they spoke to each other, which only made Sly really worry about what the low-tech Jean Bison would have done if he had his hands on all of the Clockwerk parts, "It's just that I found some real use for the Clockwerk parts I got. Why, I put three of them in the engines of my best trains. With those robotic doohickeys feeding the fire them trains will run all night and all day. I call them my Iron Horses. Of course, I gotta keep the plans hidden... stuffed them in my three trophy bass." Sounds like you're making capital use of your share of the robotic loot, Arpeggio said, though at the same time Sly was angry, because while he didn't like Clockwerk, for what he did to his family, he also didn't like how the Klaww Gang was treating the robotic owl's body, but for now, the Clockwerk Brain stays with me on the blimp. Although, when I arrive to pick up the Northern Light Battery I might be persuaded to give you a peek. "That'll do fine." Jean Bison stated, clearly showing that all he wanted was to see the part once more, even though his real reason was because he wanted to take it and add it to his collection, "By the way, you ready to giddy-up into Pari for the final hoedown?" Yes, the blimp's hypnotism wavelengths conform to the specs drawn up by the Contessa. Arpeggio said, to which the duo paid close attention to what was going on, as this was something they were going to be interested in sharing with the rest of the gang, not to mention Secretary Sen when, And Dimitri, before his unfashionable capture, did a bang-up job of distributing spice throughout his nightclub. "Sounds like all you're missing is some northern light electricity." Jean Bison stated, though it was at that point that he came to a stop in front of the fireplace again and stared at the fire, showing that he had done enough walking around for the moment, but at the same time Sly and Carmelita took the change and climbed up into the ceiling area before their foe decided to turn around. You're correct, sir. Arpeggio said, where his tone revealed that he enjoyed talking about the plant that their gang had set into motion, even if Sly and the others had disrupted it a bit along the way, Yours is the final piece to the puzzle. The missing link. Once the battery is aboard, nothing will stand in the Klaww Gang's way. Paris will be ours! "Yeah, yeah, okay." Jean Bison replied, clearly pleased with the answer that he had been given, before he turned around and started heading for the door of the cabin, indicating that he was heading outside, "So, I guess I'll be seeing you at the end of the week?" Right. Arpeggio said, his tone revealing that the conversation was at it's end, though there was one thing he needed to say before the connection was terminated, Farewell, Bison. Stiff upper lip. Ta-ta. Sly and Carmelita remained in the ceiling for a few moments, watching Jean Bison open the door of the cabin and walk outside, though they stayed that way for a minute or two, to be sure that he wasn't coming back in immediately, before they dropped down and got back together. "Well, this isn't good." Sly commented, as he still couldn't believe that the Klaww Gang was trying to take over Paris, but, at the same time, he had the feeling that there was more to the puzzle than what they had heard, because that didn't sound like an endgame goal. "No, it's not." Carmelita said, though as she stared at the door she remembered what the Contessa had bragged to her about, when she was tormenting her, before her eyes lit up and she turned towards Sly, "What did Neyla say about the Clockwerk Eye she had tried to take? Something about one should be enough for the old bird?" "Yeah, something like... that..." Sly replied, though at the same time he realized something, which he suspected that Carmelita had picked up on based on what she was saying, before he brought his palm to his face, "Oh my god, does that mean that..." "If we're right, and I think we're right, then Neyla's been lying to everyone the entire time," Carmelita said, though even as she said that she really hoped that she was wrong, but her gut feeling hadn't been wrong before and she wasn't about to question it now, "She's been trying to recollect the Clockwerk parts, not to lock them away, like I would have done, but to put them back together and reforge the ancient owl's body, just like Secretary Sen feared that they would try to do when the parts were originally stolen. The way the Contessa spoke about Neyla at times makes me think that she's actually a secret member of the Klaww Gang, and my tormentor even said that it was possible to make people hate each other, given the right frequencies..." "Arpeggio's going to try and resurrect Clockwerk." Sly commented, dread filling his voice for a moment, because now the entire plan that Jean Bison and Arpeggio had talked about was now covered in a sinister shroud, though at the same time he seriously hoped that they were wrong, "We have to tell Secretary Sen the news, because Arpeggio needs the pieces that we've taken from the other members of the Klaww Gang... we have been collecting everything that he requires to put Clockwerk back together. Neyla, she's been playing us the entire time... and yet, despite what they're planning, they don't seem to realize that Clockwerk's not gone, he's just been patiently waiting for the day when he's put back together." "Sly, we'll have Secretary Sen send a convoy to pick up the parts from the safe house he let us stay in and move them to a more secure location," Carmelita said, as she wasn't about to let all of their hard work go to waste, before she waved a hand at the picture frames that were around them and the fish that was on the wall, "but right now we have to make sure that we get the parts that Jean Bison has... and then we can focus on stopping Arpeggio's plan." Sly nodded and together they took some pictures of the routes that the various 'Iron Horses' traveled along, giving Bentley an idea of when they needed to strike each one of them and what they needed to do to get inside each train, before Sly claimed the blueprint from the bass' mouth. With that in hand the two of them headed outside, where they found that Jean Bison had left the area, to which they made their way over to the second cabin they had seen when they were walking through town, though when they arrived they found that the duck guards were bored out of their minds and most of them happened to be sleeping. While Sly went and grabbed the blueprints, however, Carmelita approached the safe and had Bentley give her the code, as Gilda, Derpy, and Diz had found the bottles around the base while they were flying around the area, and she input the code, 1-2-9, and took the blueprints for a music box gadget from the safe, before she and Sly headed outside once more. From there it was a simple matter to head to the final cabin, where a bunch of moose guards were stationed, but they were able to get a direct path to the bass and claimed the blueprints before they headed back to the safe house. As they did that both Sly and Carmelita spotted Gilda flying over to the satellite dish that was at the top of the tallest peak in the area, where they knew that Bentley was likely getting the GPS of the trains as they spoke... to which they headed into town and made their way to the safe house. When everyone was together again, and Bentley had a few minutes to look over the information they had given him, after sending an email to Secretary Sen detailing everything Sly and Carmelita heard in Jean Bison's cabin, he was able to figure out that their foe had both of Clockwerk's Lungs, his Stomach, and all six of his deadly Talons. Since three of those parts happened to be inside Jean Bison's trains, his Iron Horses, they needed to one of three things; the first being using the gas in the air, provided by their target's operations, to make bombs and blow the lids off the cabooses of the trains, the second being Derpy using the lightning to strike them, which would be odd for Jean Bison when he heard about it, or figure out some way to boost the power of Carmelita's pistol and use that to blow the locks off. As such Carmelita pulled out her pistol and handed it over, knowing that Bentley would be able to put it back to normal once it was no longer needed to blow the locks off the cabooses, while at the same time she used the downtime to think about what she and Sly had figured out... before deciding that Arpeggio needed to be stopped, something that the entire gang agreed on when they heard what they had found out. About ten minutes later, with the pistol ungraded to a point where it could blow the locks off without overheating, even though it was recommended that she wait a minute or two between shots, Carmelita headed outside, alone since she needed quite to be accurate this time around, and climbed to the best vantage point where she could see all three of the train tracks and the trains that used them. When she reached the peak that the satellite was sitting on, which Gilda had fiddled with a few minutes ago, she pulled out the pistol and focused on the tracks that were all around her, keeping her eyes on the trains as they moved through the town and the wilderness that was around them. A moment later she zeroed in on one of her targets and blew the lock off the caboose, though as she let the weapon cool down she kept her eyes on the other two trains, keeping their locks in her line of sight, and, when the pistol was ready, she fired again and blew the second lock to pieces. About two minutes later, after keeping her eyes on the third train, she blew the lock off that one as well, before she sighed and put her weapon away, though as she started to stand back up she heard the sound of someone stepping through the snow behind her... though, when she turned around, anger rushed to the surface as she spotted Neyla standing behind her. "Carmelita Cooper, I should have known that you'd be here." Neyla commented, though while it was clear that she wasn't using her whip at the moment, as it was strapped to her side like it was when she wasn't using it, Carmelita didn't trust the people that handed her to the Contessa. "It's Carmelita Fox!" Carmelita stated, but she wasn't going to give Neyla the satisfaction that she liked hearing Sly's last name after her name, as, now that they were boyfriend and girlfriend, she often imagined being back of both his gang and his family, before she pulled the pistol out again, "Now then, why don't you just stand still and let me take you out here and now? I'm sure that Secretary Sen would like to have a word with you." "Please, you can't fire that thing for another minute or two, and I'll be long gone by then," Neyla replied, to which she reached into her pack and tossed something to Carmelita, which, when she caught it, was a computer disk that was being held in a protective container, "I just thought that you might want to see what's on that disk, that's all. I'll see you around, Carmelita Cooper." Carmelita growled as Neyla disappeared, angry that she missed her chance to take her down, but once she discovered that Neyla was gone she collected her things and headed back to the safe house, where she told the others that she had done what she set out to do. She also informed them that they might need to be careful, since it appeared that Neyla might be here to collect Jean Bison's parts as well, before showing them the disk that Neyla had tossed her, which Bentley slipped into his computer and showed it's contents to her. What Carmelita, and the others, watched was Neyla when she was asking the rest of her co-workers their opinions on Carmelita, after the Contessa had captured her and her relationship with Sly was revealed to all of them, something that she immediately dreaded the moment she heard what Neyla was asking. What followed was a number of hurtful comments from those that she had considered her friends, as none of the people Neyla had asked had even considered the possibility that Carmelita was innocent of the charges that had been brought against her... and, when Neyla made the comment that someone thought there was the possibility that she might actually be innocent, they were quick to get angry and say that it wasn't possible for her to be innocent. In the end Bentley couldn't let her see all of it, he honestly couldn't, and he ejected the disk from the computer, before Sly shattered it into a thousand pieces with his intense rage, as he couldn't believe that those cops could have been played by Neyla and the Contessa, before comforting Carmelita once more... and promising his crying girlfriend that they would find some way to clear her name, because she deserved better than what she was getting. When she was done the gang would continue the operation, but for now he needed to comfort her, and that was all that Sly could think about as he held Carmelita close to him.
