Sly Cooper: Family of Thieves

by Blackdrag-rose

Band: High Road

When Bentley and Derpy returned from powering up the computer in the Re-education Tower, which pleased Sly more than he was willing to admit since that meant that they were one step closer to saving Carmelita, Murray and Diz set out immediately, as Murray had another task to complete. The only reason that Diz was going along, to help assist Murray in dealing with the tanks, was because she had next to nothing to do and was hoping that she would find some excuse to use her powers, to maybe snap her back to her original form. Murray, of course, was glad to have Diz along for the ride, mostly because they worked well together, though as they walked outside the two of them carefully avoided the tanks that were moving around the area as they headed towards the location of the mission start. That meant making their way through the area that Neyla controlled, carefully crossing over the bridge between the two areas, and walk to the right of the entrance they had walked through, where an entrance to the Contessa's tanks was located.

Once they were in position, and Diz knocked out the guards that were in the immediate area, the two of them pulled out their binocucoms and prepared themselves to receive their instructions from Bentley, as while they knew that the mission was taking out Neyla's tanks they had no idea how many he wanted them to destroy.

"Murray, the tank uses two analog sticks to steer it." Bentley said, informing Murray of the controls that were inside the tanks, because of the fact that Murray had been in the solitary area of the prison he had no idea what the controls of a tank were, which he knew thanks to the information he gained from the book that Sly stole, "You'll need to push both of them in the upwards direction to move forward, both towards you in order to go in reverse, and in opposite directions to rotate. You'll also find that there is a button that allows you to fire your turret. You'll need to take out six tanks to get the job done."

Murray nodded as Diz opened the window that was near where they were standing, allowing Murray to slip into the area that the tank was located in, though as he slipped into the tank he was forced to move the seat so he had enough room to actually sit down and actually use the controls that were in front of him. Diz watched all of this as it happened and, when Murray was ready, she opened the door that was in their way and watched as Murray drove the tank outside the garage area it had been resting in until they came to claim it, before jumping on top of it and riding it outside. Once Murray had the tank outside it's storage area he moved forward immediately, happily charging into battle as he loosed several blasts at the enemy tank that was patrolling the area, destroying it before it even had a chance to fire back. The moment that tank was finished Murray continued moving forward, heading around some buildings and made his way towards the safe house, though while he did that Diz surprised him by using her chaotic power to snap the tread of the closest tank, allowing him to blast it apart as well.

When one of the other tanks spotted them, and started to turn towards them, Diz wove her magic through the air and disappeared from the area that she was in, merely turning invisible so Neyla wouldn't be able to identify who her tank commanders had seen, before using another spell that made the tank miss it's shot, which barreled into another enemy tank and knocked it backwards. That moment allowed Murry to fire at the first tank, knocking it apart, before turning his attention to the second one and blew it up as well, though as he moved forward he found that it was rather easy for him to disassemble Neyla's tanks, making both him and Diz wonder what sort of mercenaries Neyla had enlisted to help her with this assault. The last two were a little tougher, as they were the ones actually patrolling the bank that Neyla had claimed as her headquarters, though at the same time Murray and Diz used their combined abilities to dismantle and trash the tanks, even causing one of them to damage the other again, before Murray dealt the finishing blow and reduced them to a pile of scrap.

"Aw yeah!" Murray said, to which he turned the tank around and headed back towards the storage area he had gotten it from, that way when the guards came around they would find that it was still where they had left it, even though the gas would be a little lower than it would normally be, "Eat that you mercenary scum!"

"Nice work you two." Bentley spoke up, as he had heard the sounds of the battle from inside the safe house, but his sensors told him that they had done exactly what he needed them to do, which made him smile a bit, "That should cool down those mercenaries for a while."

Once Murray and Diz returned to the storage area, and put the tank where they had gotten it from, they headed out through the same window, closed it to avoid raising the alarm, and made their way back across the bridge, where they headed back towards the safe house so they could rest up. Along the way Murray caught Diz looking down at herself, as he knew that she was hoping that the use of her magic would have snapped her back to being a guy again, but then she sighed and simply continued on her way, putting that thought behind her, especially since they were here for one specific reason. When the two of them got back, and the rest of the gang congratulated them on a job well done, Sly and Gilda moved out for the final mission they needed to complete before the heist began, even though Sly's mind was only focused on one thing at the moment. Gilda, knowing that time was of the essence, grabbed her brother and took to the skies, carefully avoiding being seen by the pilots that were bombing the area around the castle, before dropping down in the area that the mission beacon was located in.

Sly chuckled, as once upon a time he had considered using his sisters' wings to be cheating, and had restricted them to use them only when it was necessary, but right now he was thankful for it, as it made things that much easier for all of them, since they could get to places much faster... though he pushed that thought to the back of his mind as he pulled out his binocucom, so he and Gilda could hear what Bentley needed to tell them about their objective.

"The Contessa plans on taking control of Neyla's army by fooling them with a prototype voice modulation device." Bentley told them, to which their view shifted until they were looking at the bank that Neyla was no doubt resting inside, before he continued to speak as they looked down at a pair of guards that were nearby, "To get the thing working she'll have to jack it into the satellite connection beneath Neyla's headquarters."

"So, based on what you said earlier, you'd like us to steal the device and hook it up for our side," Sly said, recalling the briefing that Bentley had given them some time ago, even though his mind was more focused on who the Contessa was currently tormenting at the moment, "giving us control over Neyla's mercenaries. Sounds great!"

"You and Gilda will have to steal a few keys here and there to get access to the more secure areas of the castle." Bentley stated, though at the same time he knew that this wouldn't be a problem for the pair, as they were both master thieves and would be able to get the job done without fail.

"If there are pockets to be picked, I'm your man." Sly replied, as he was going to enjoy this a little, because he really wanted to screw over both Neyla and the Contessa, mostly for different reasons, but at the same time this was another step towards saving the one person he loved.

"First, I need you two to steal a wire tap and the voice modulator," Bentley continued, knowing that Sly might be getting distracted and that he needed to get the mission underway before something else happened, "then head for the sewers beneath Neyla's headquarters."

"We're on it." Gilda stated, to which both she and Sly put their binocucoms away and stared down at the guards that were standing near each other, noticing how they moved so that stealing the keys would take precision and timing that only master thieves could pull off.

What they ended up doing, since the guards were so close together, was that Gilda took the guard who was standing in the middle of the area in front of them, taking his key before he even knew what had hit him, before returning to the area the mission beacon had been placed in, where Sly dropped down and stole the key from the guard who was walking around in a circle. The moment the two keys were in their possession Sly let Gilda pull him into the sky as they headed into the actual castle area, where Bentley informed them that the area the first item was located in was right across from where the Re-education Tower was located. When they entered the room that the keys unlocked they found a number of wolf guards patrolling the room, but as they watched them the siblings found that the guards were more tired that what they would have thought, as all of them fell asleep not even a minute after they had opened the door. Since they weren't about to press their luck, as this was a blessing that they weren't expecting, Sly and Gilda crossed the room as quietly as possible and headed towards the location of the wire tap... though as Sly claimed that, however, Gilda carefully entered the three number combination, 9-6-9, and found the blueprints for a bomb that induced rage, something that Bentley would want to have a look at later.

Once the two of them were outside the first room Bentley contacted them and informed them that the next set of guards were up and ready for them to steal the keys from, to which Gilda discovered that the first key holder was right in front of them, as it was guarding the Re-education Tower's front door. Fortunately that was rather easy for her to get at, because all she had to do was fly into the area behind the guard and take his key, and then fly out before he even had a chance to realize that she had been there to begin with, where she gabbed Sly and carried him off to the other key holder that they were after. The second key holder was literally on the other side of the castle from the first one, standing guard over a little walkway of sorts on the backside of the main part of the castle, but Gilda dropped Sly off behind the guard, letting him take the key before he threw himself off the edge, where she caught him and carried him towards their next destination... the door that was at the very front of the castle, which also happened to be near where Murray and Diz claimed the tank a few minutes ago.

Fortunately, by another stroke of luck, the guards that Diz and Murray had knocked out were still knocked out, almost like their fellow guards thought they were drunk on the job or something, but, once again, they weren't about to complain and used the keys to slip into the area where the real prize was located. This time around, when they entered the next area and saw what was in front of them, they knew that it wasn't going to be as simple as they thought it would be, as a vulture guard stood in front of the stairs they needed to take to move forward. Despite the fact that Gilda could fly over the area, she couldn't avoid the light from the torch the guard was carrying, but Sly had another idea as he looked at the burning torch that was near them, as the moment he whacked it the guard moved from where he was standing, allowing Sly and Gilda to patiently wait a few seconds before knocking him out. The room beyond that one required that they do the same thing, as there was another vulture guard in their way, but he was rather easy to knock out and the duo moved towards the back of the room... where they claimed the voice modulator and made their way back outside, so they could get the show on the road, especially since there was one more set of keys that needed to be stolen.

From what they discovered the next two key holders were patrolling the area around the guillotine, near the area of the second key holder that they had just stolen the key from, though at the same time they found that they were walking in a circle while going in separate directions. Normally this would present a problem, but for master thieves like the Cooper Gang there was always a way, as Gilda landed somewhere safe and let Sly down, before using her wind power to gently encourage one of the guards to come over and investigate, while making the other continue his patrol. Once Sly had the first key, and the guard was knocked out, Gilda made sure to take the second key while the other guard wasn't looking, before carrying them over to the area that they needed to crawl through to reach the door that would allow them to enter the area beneath Neyla's headquarters. When they entered the sewer area they found that all they had to do was ride on some electric wire, which weren't turned on at the moment, swing across a hook, and then knock out the two wolf guards that were down there... before approaching the wall and finding that the Contessa's men had already done the rest of the work for them, which made the two of them smile as Sly opened a link to Bentley.

"Hey Bentely, we got lucky, because it looks like the Contessa's men have already excavated Neyla's satellite cable." Sly said, to which Gilda nodded her head, indicating that she was seeing the same thing, before he decided to ask the question that he thought he knew the answer to, "How should we proceed?"

"Splice in the wire tap then attach the voice modulator." Bentley told them, indicating that there had to be a specific order for this sort of thing to be able to work, which meant that it was a good thing that they asked him before they did anything to the cable, "Once that's done I'll broadcast from the safe house to make sure it works like it's supposed to... this is going to be so cool!"

Sly and Gilda pulled out the wire tap and voice modulator from their bags and carefully connected them to the cable in front of them, where Sly made sure that the wire tap was in position before Gilda attached the voice modulator, though once that was done the two of them headed to the surface and looked out over Neyla's forces... before giving Bentley the go ahead to try whatever he was thinking of doing.

"Uhh, hello mercenary tank forces... would you mind spinning your turrets for me?" Bentley said, though as Sly and Gilda listened they heard Bentley's voice being replaced by Neyla's at the end of his statement, which meant that the device was working like it was supposed to, "Gads, this is cool! I mean... you are all... really cool. Carry on."

Once they were done with their mission they returned to the safe house with haste, where Bentley had them all gather and told them it was time for them to wage war on the castle and, in the confusion they would create along the way, pull off a heist that he called 'Operation: High Road'. The first thing that needed to happen was quite simple, Murray needed to use the codes, provided by General Clawfoot, to take down the spotlights on the main gate, though Bentley would follow that up with him ordering Neyla's forces to attack, thanks to the voice modulator. Sly would then paraglide both himself and Bentley over to the Contessa's getaway blimp, which they would then use to get inside Re-education Tower. Bentley was sure that the assault on the castle will undoubtedly draw the Shadow Guards from their post, exposing the Contessa in the process, who Carmelita was bound to chase after before she even considered leaving with them, which would give them the opportunity to destroy the Mind Shuffler and claim the Clockwerk Eyes before they made their escape with the blimp.

Gilda, Derpy, and Diz inquired what they were supposed to do, as this seemed more like a three person operation instead of a six person operation, and for the most part it seemed like they were supposed to catch Sly and Bentley if they overshot the blimp. Once the blimp was secure they were supposed to do whatever it took to keep the battle going, between Neyla's forces and the Contessa's forces, to which they simply sighed and decided to go with it... because, at the very least, they would be walking out of here with Carmelita.

The moment the gang was ready, and they were done sitting around, Gilda and Derpy helped Sly and Bentley get up to the area that they were supposed to jump off of, while at the same time Diz and Murray headed out for the terminal that controlled the spotlights. Fortunately the two of them were able to make their way over the bridge, avoid the tanks, and not be seen by the spotlights that they were supposed to power off, though they waited for a few moments to be sure that the others were in position before either of them touched anything. A few seconds later Bentley contacted them and told them that it was time to begin the operation, to which the duo nodded as they set down their communicators and turned towards the terminal in question.

"I hope that General guy told the truth or this going to get ugly." Murray said, though while he knew that the codes that the General had given them so far had worked, thanks to the others using them to get their other tasks completed, he was also weary of the fact that this one might be a lie.

Not a few seconds after he pressed the enter key, and let the code surge through the spotlights, both he and Diz watched as the lights went down and the bridge became exposed, which was exactly what Bentley was planning from the very beginning when he got the codes from General Clawfoot.

"The lights are down Bentley, time to call in the cavalry." Diz said, though at the same time she and Murray quickly made their way across the bridge before the other tanks started moving towards the bridge, as they needed to get the van ready for their departure, "We're heading to the van and getting ready to leave before the cops arrive."

"Attention bloodthirsty mercenary forces: the castle defenses are down!" Bentley stated, speaking in Neyla's voice once more, only this time he was ready for the mercenaries to get to work and distract the guards that were around their main objectives, "Seize this opportunity for aggressive military action by pressing an attack on the castle... uhh, Charge! For victory, for Glory!"

"That should be more than enough." Gilda commented, to which the four of them watched the mercenary tanks move over the bridge and start their assault on the Contessa's forces, though that was exactly what they were hoping for when they put this plan into action.

"Now that you're done being a warmonger feel like paragliding over to that blimp?" Sly asked, gesturing to the blimp in question, knowing that his sisters would be more than ready to assist them if anything went wrong, even though Derpy was the one carrying the Bad Mojo Bomb at the moment.

"Just make sure to grab the rope hanging off that thing... I don't want to drown." Bentley said, though the drowning part was also directed towards the sisters, just so they knew that he expected them to assist him and Sly in case they missed their target.

Sly nodded and let Bentley climb onto his back for a moment, keeping himself at the ready for when they got to the blimp, while at the same time keeping his eyes on their target for a few seconds before he jumped off the edge of the part of the castle they were on, where he opened his paraglider and glided down towards the blimp. When he landed on it, however, two wolf guards came out and stood at attention, clearly waiting to take them down, only for Gilda to use the wind and knock them off the blimp, dropping them into the water before Bentley climbed off of Sly so he could direct the blimp towards their destination. Gilda and Derpy landed on the blimp not a few seconds later and let Bentley take them to the Re-education Tower, though when they arrived they carefully entered the chamber that the Contessa was in and remained silent as they stared at the Contessa... who, at the moment, was no longer standing at the controls for the Mind Shuffler and happened to be staring at the guards as they reported what was happening at the moment.

"What! The mercenaries have breached the castle defenses!" the Contessa said, shocked by what she had just been told, because she had been so sure of her defenses, but at the same time she knew what to do next, "All of you go, defend this tower to the last man!"

The Shadow Guard nodded their heads to her command and marched out of the room that they were in, to which the Contessa sighed and turned around, where she headed back to the command terminal that controlled the Mind Shuffler and what she was trying to do to Carmelita.

"Don't worry my dear, I still have time to finish with your 'readjustment'." the Contessa commented, speaking to Carmelita once more, as was apparently her custom when she was working on those that she tried to break, while at the same time not aware of the fact that it was pissing a certain someone off.

"Let me out of here and I'll readjust your face!" Carmelita declared, where she struggled against her bindings once more, something that she had been attempting to do the entire time she had been trapped here, while no doubt wondering when she was going to be saved.

"Okay partner, looks like the Shadow Guard is out of the picture." Sly quietly said, though despite the fact that he was being as quiet as possible Bentley, Derpy, and Gilda could hear the sheer anger in his voice as he stared at the Contessa, all while imagining the pain Carmelita had to be in, "You ready to free our violent little princess?"

"Affirmative, that Irontech 2-50 is a fully integrated system," Bentley replied, knowing that Sly was deeply concerned for Carmelita, though at the same time he was focused on the task at hand, and the Clockwerk Eyes that were still attached to the Mind Shuffler, "access to Carmelita's restraints has to be in this old terminal somewhere."

Bentley turned towards the computer and immediately started hacking into it, though while he worked Sly, Gilda, and Derpy stared at the people in front of them, despising one of them while caring deeply about the other one, though it was only a few moments later when Bentley stepped away from the terminal... and, at the same time, the cuffs that were around Carmelita's arms and legs came undone. The moment that happened Carmelita, sensing that something had changed, rolled to the side and fell off the Irontech 2-50, though it appeared that the sound of her hitting the floor didn't tell the Contessa that something was wrong with the situation. For a few seconds nothing happened, as Carmelita just laid there and didn't appear to be moving at all, though Sly smiled when he saw her head shift and she looked up from where she was resting, before turning to the side and looked at the area that Sly and the others were standing in, where a light smile appeared on her face. That was swiftly followed by a look of rage appearing in place of the smile as she picked herself up and gripped the table where her weapons were located, though she picked up her miniature canes and slipped them into their empty containers... before lifting her pistol and primed it, where she turned around and leveled her weapon with the Contessa.

"Ah-ha! I've isolated the brain pattern," the Contessa said, sounding happy about something, though it was surprising that she hadn't considered the possibility that things weren't going exactly as she had planned, "you and I are about to become the best of friends."

"Okay, new 'best friend'." Carmelita growled, to which she powered up her pistol, intending to blast the Contessa here and now for everything she had done to her since she had been arrested when Rajan was being taken down, "Hands up, and I mean all of 'em."

"My dear you really..." the Contessa started to say, though as she turned around, to stare at Carmelita once more, she immediately noticed something that was wrong and managed to avoid the incoming blast that erupted from Carmelita's pistol, which blew a good sided hole in the wall behind her, before she ran away screaming her head off, "Shadow Guard! Shadow Guard!"

"Carmelita!" Sly said, hoping that she could see through her anger and not run off after the Contessa, to which he smiled as she turned towards them as the iron barred wall in front of them came down, allowing him to drop down into the room and embrace Carmelita when she ran into his arms.

"Sly! I knew you'd come and save me," Carmelita said, though as Derpy started to attach the Black Mojo Bomb to the Mind Shuffler, however, she couldn't help but embrace Sly as tears started to flow, as she was extremely happy to see him and the rest of the gang again, "That thought kept me from letting the Contessa break me, despite her best efforts to try and turn me into something that I wasn't."

"I couldn't let the love of my life suffer in such a way," Sly stated, to which he kissed Carmelita, letting her know that she was safe now, before he pulled back and led her to the other side of the room, the one that was opposite of the Mind Shuffler, "We're going to blow the Mind Shuffler to pieces, take the Clockwerk Eyes, and then get out of here... and we're sure that the cops will catch the Contessa without needing our assistance."

Bentley didn't give Carmelita time to say anything, as the timer was set and everyone cleared the area near the Mind Shuffler, to which the Black Mojo Bomb detonated and tore the entire machine apart, though while that happened Sly could see the two Eyes separate from each other before they were shrouded.

"Sly, I've located one of the Clockwerk Eyes." Bentley stated, speaking when the smoke cleared because the Eye in question happened to be in front of him, though as the rest of the smoke started to clear he looked for the other one, since it was the other item they had come for, "can you find the other?"

"No worries chaps, it's safely in hand." a voice said, to which they found Neyla standing nearby, how she had gotten in here a question that was on everyone's minds, though strapped to her back was the other Clockwerk Eye, "Thanks for clearing out the Contessa... nothing I did could pry her away from the Clockwerk Eyes. Hmm, one should be enough for the old bird. Ta-ta."

"Bentley! Take the Eye and escape on the blimp." Sly stated, because the moment Neyla had stopped talking she headed through the opening that the Contessa had escaped through, though at the same time he spun his cane as he prepared himself for what he was going to do, "I'm going after Neyla."

"No!" Carmelita said, to which she slipped her pistol into it's holder and withdrew her canes, before pulling out the Cooper Mask that had been placed on them by the Contessa when she was brought here, before slipping it over her face once more, "We'll take care Neyla, together!"

Sly stared at Carmelita for a moment, honestly surprised by the fact that she wanted to help him tackle Neyla, after all the torment that she had been through, but not a few seconds later he smiled and nodded his head, to which the two of them headed through the opening in front of them and followed after Neyla, though as they started to leave Gilda tossed Carmelita a paraglider that they had purchased for her earlier... before escorting Bentley to the blimp so they could get out of here before something else happened. As the two of them headed outside, however, they heard Neyla call out to her bombers and ordered them to focus their attacks on the Contessa's blimp, though at the same time it was clear that Bentley didn't need to worry, as the first bomber that came near the flying vehicle got blasted out of the air by a bolt of lightning that Derpy summoned. From that point forward Sly and Carmelita chased after Neyla, like they had done back in Paris and the jungle, though this time around it was because she had something that they wanted, to which they followed her throughout the castle, dodging her attempts to blow them up by hitting explosive barrels, and followed her whenever she used spider web jump pads... all while making sure to use their paragliders to keep up with her as she used her own to try and get away from them.

They chased her throughout the entirety of the castle, never letting her out of their sights, though when she decided to return to the Re-education Tower, however, she was ensnared in some spider webs and the Eye happened to fall from her back... to which Sly and Carmelita stood in front of her, while Sly claimed the artifact that was in front of them.

"You know, you should really watch where you're going," Sly commented, though at the same time he smiled, because with both Eyes they were one step closer to claiming all the Clockwerk parts that had been taken from the volcano his body had been dumped into, "this place is dangerous."

"Don't you dare!" Neyla shouted, staring at the Eye that Sly now held in his hand, the very one that she had stolen, with a look of rage on her face as her enemies claimed what she was trying to take from the Contessa, "That Eye is MINE! IT'S MINE!"

It was in that instant, where she proclaimed that the Eye belonged to her, that the Contessa, who must have been hiding nearby, revealed herself and smacked the trapped Neyla in the side of her head with one of her legs, knocking her off the area they were standing in, before touching down and staring at them.

"Actually Mr. Cooper, the Clockwerk Eyes belong to me." the Contessa stated, almost as if she believed that her statement would force Sly to willingly hand over the stolen artifact, which at the same time pissed Carmelita off, since it wasn't her item to begin with, "And I want both of them back."

"No way. Do you honestly think that I'm crazy enough to hand this back to you?" Sly asked, though once he said that he remembered all the information that he and the gang had received on the Contessa before they came here, and the bits that Secretary Sen was able to get for Bentley earlier, "Actually, on second thought don't answer that, I really don't want your professional opinion."

"I don't think your crazy, just stupid." the Contessa replied, though at the same time that statement made Carmelita growl as they stared at her, to which the Contessa ignored her even more, "You're an ignorant child playing dress-up in his father's legacy. Oh, I know all about you and the Cooper Clan."

"How dare you say that about the man I love!" Carmelita snapped, causing the Contessa to actually look at her once more, while at the same time she really wanted to beat the stuffing out of her and make sure she was locked up for the rest of her life, "Sly Cooper is one of the greatest thieves in the entire world, a Master Thief that honors and abides by the teachings of the Cooper Clan, who have always stolen from other criminals since the day their line was born, and he is the heir to the Cooper Legacy. Clockwerk has been the ancient enemy of his line for who knows how many years, decades, or even centuries, and they are powered by a soul whose hate is so great that he forced himself into a foul immortality... so when someone says that his parts need to be destroyed, then you listen and obey, or get out of the way!"

"Short-sighted fool!" the Contessa snapped in return, her tone indicating that she wasn't going to listen to what anyone else had to say, though that, in turn, caused both Sly and Carmelita to ready themselves accordingly, since they were sure a fight was going to start any moment now, "I've no interest in your narrow interpretation of morality. I'm above all that, above good and evil."

It was in the instant that followed that the Contessa attacked them, swinging her arms like they were going to cut and wound whoever she was fighting, to which both Sly and Carmelita avoided her arms at all costs and smacked her with their canes, while also smashing the small spiders that she called upon so they didn't get overwhelmed. It seemed that, while the Contessa was skilled enough to fight someone one on one, she had some difficulty going after two people, almost like she had a hard time keeping track of what they were doing at any given moment, but at the same time Sly and Carmelita weren't fooled by the act. The Contessa was smart and was likely trying to lure them into a false sense of security so she could smack them and take the Eye from Sly, though after everything she had been through, and all the torment she had suffered, Carmelita wasn't going to back down and let this witch have her way. Together the two of them hit the Contessa with all their strength, dodged her attacks to the best of their abilities, and, when the time came, they slammed their canes into her chest and knocked her backwards... where she fell back onto the ground and looked like she was defeated, though at the same time neither one of them lowered their guard, not around an opponent like this.

"Enough... you've shown me the error of my ways." the Contessa said, forcing herself to sound like someone who was actually defeated, though at the same time neither Sly nor Carmelita got close to her, since they were sure that this was a trap that was just waiting to be sprung.

"Sorry, but we're not falling for your tricks." Carmelita stated, to which she and Sly raised their canes and beckoned to the Contessa, as they knew that she was far from defeated, as she had gone down way to easily for someone that had stolen one of the Clockwerk parts.

The Contessa growled as she picked herself and started to run away again, though as she did so Sly took the Eye that he had picked up and tossed it into the air, where Derpy flew through the area and snatched it the moment it left Sly's hand, before taking it back to the blimp that was heading away from the town. The moment the Eye was secure, just like the other one, he glanced at Carmelita for a moment and nodded his head, to which the two of them chased after the Contessa, intending to take her down and make her pay for everything that she had done to the Cooper Gang. Fortunately she hadn't gotten far, as she was standing at the same place that Sly had used the paraglider to reach the blimp, though as they stepped onto the roof the Contessa growled at them and started the battle anew, though without one of the Eyes to aid her, or even both of them, both he and Carmelita knew that she didn't stand a chance against the two of them. Despite her best efforts the Contessa found that the two of them were simply too much for her to handle, though what was interesting was that Sly, at one point, backed off and let Carmelita fight alone... and yet, even with it being one on one, the unbridled anger that was in Carmelita's eyes, and was pushing her forward, made her a force to be reckoned with.

In the end Carmelita used both the tools of a thief, her own Cooper canes, and the tool of a cop, her own shock pistol, and knocked the Contessa out, though as she cooled off, and finally regained control of herself, she fell into Sly's arms as they waited for the others to arrive... though when they did Carmelita smiled at the gang that had gone through so many obstacles just to save her, even if it meant letting the Clockwerk Eyes be taken by the Contessa if necessary, but she was happy the gang had succeeded in saving her and claiming another piece of the ancient owl.

As they landed near where the van was located, however, Sly and Carmelita got as close as they dared so they could see the outcome of the 'Neyla vs Contessa' war, where they found that Neyla must have called some cops the moment the assault was underway. From what they could tell the Contessa was arrested right then and there, and would no doubt be brought to trial for the crimes she committed while working at Interpol, as well as the fact that she had gone against one of the Secretaries that governed Interpol. Unfortunately for them, though more so for Carmelita, Director Barkley was there and he actually promoted Neyla, who was called the 'Hero of Prague' by some, to the rank of Captain, giving her a shining badge to wear as well. Another bit of bad news was that Barkley had an order for Neyla, one that was the capture of both the Cooper Gang and Carmelita, meaning that he was either really stupid to disobey Secretary Sen, or he was bold enough to think that Neyla could capture them twice, though it was plainly clear that he no longer viewed Carmelita in the same light that he had in the time before the Clockwerk parts were stolen.

In the end the gang, now fully whole for the first time since they defeated Rajan in the jungle ruins, departed from Prague and headed for somewhere where they could hide and help Carmelita recover from her torment... and, as Murray drove away from the castle, Sly sat in the back with Carmelita, silently wondering what it was going to take to help her get her life back in order before Neyla shattered her career beyond repair.
