Twilight Sparkle, student of Princess Celestia opened the doors to the castle to see five mares standing before her, each wearing pajamas and carrying pillows. She giggles at the sight.

"You three didn't make your way all the way over here dressed like that did you?" she asked, still giggling.

Rarity laughed and responded, "Of course not darling. What do you think we are? Barbarians? I mean really darling, we would never--"

After sharing a laugh, the six mares headed into the living room where a giant Television Screen was already set up.

Rainbow whistled, "Whoo! Twilight. Using up those princess bits I take it? I see ya, I see ya."

"It's not like that. This was Princess Celestias and she's decided to give up television for the next hundred years. She didn't want to waste money though and said I could have it until I ended up in the same boat as her."

Twilight put the tape into the VCR and sat down on the couch between Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie. On the ground lay Rarity, Applejack, and Fluttershy.

"In one of the boxes we moved last week. I'm not sure what it is but--" she topped as the screen glitched. It glitched again several times until words appeared on the screen.

The mares glanced at each other wearily, side from Pinkie who was eating popcorn.

The words glitched and frizzled about every now and then, emitting weird sounds.

The screen faded into white. It then faded into a picture of a baby Twilight in her mothers arms. It then changed to a photo of her being held by her father, and next her brother. The screen slowly went black again.

The screen faded to a video of Twilight with her family, just a bit older. She was in her high chair throwing food around.

"Now, now Twilight, eat your food. you want to grow to be as big and strong as your older brother don't you?

The little filly threw the bowl of mush on the floor in response. the six mares giggled at Twilight's embarrassment. Before they could speak however, the footage changed back to text.

The glitched a few times until it appeared to blink as if opening it's eyes. On the screen was Twilight, a little older than before, in her bedroom. The camera was slightly concave so things were little distorted. the filly Twilight looked right into the camera and smiled.

"Hold on, hold on. Let's start with that first question. My name is Twilight. Can you say that?

"Oh yeah. One second." Twilight ran out of view of camera, which followed her for a short ways. It looked back and down. It observed two claw like appendages attached to itself, and wheels on the ground as well. The entire room was full of similar things, some burned, some mangled, some thrown away. Suddenly Twilight came back with a squarish object. She proceeded to stick it into one of the claws. When she did, displays appeared on the screen with names and commands as well as coding. As this all happened, it could be noticed that present day Twilight was leaning forward slightly, in shock.

"And you are a race of pony known as a unicorn, capable of magic of all types and the leading ones in science and technology, due to precision eye for detail."

"You are one of four races: Earth Pony, Pegasus, Unicorn, and Alicorn. Being closest to alicorns, unicorns are considered the highest in the evolutionary stage."

The fillies smile faltered ever so slightly as the robotic voice continued to speak, "There are many sapient species in the world. Manticores, hippogriffs, griffons, zebras, dragons, Breezies, Centaur, Diamond Dogs, Minotaur and countless others. the screen began glitching worse and worse as he named them off.

The filly grabbed the sides of the camera and looked right in the center. Her eyes were so soft and kind, they could have calmed down a raging bull.

"But what is a 'me'? What am I? I don't ...I...I don 't...und....understastastanddddd…"

The screen began glitching terribly again. The six mares gasped as it got worse and worse, until suddenly the sounds ceased and only Twilights voice could be heard.

"What friend is someone who cares about you, someone who is cared for by someone else. A friend is always there by your side. Every species, every race, can be a friend. So no matter what you are, you are my friend, and I am yours. Will be friends with me?"

Despite the strangeness of the whole situation, the six mares watching held their breath in anticipation.

"Yay!" Filly Twilight jumped up and down and hugged whatever device was controlling the camera, causing all the mares besides Twilight 'awe' over the cute scene. The filly stepped back and thought for a moment.

"Of course you can. I programed you to think so that's you can do. What would you like."

The voice thought for a second until he responded, "M.A.T.. I want to be called M.A.T.."

several videos, showing moments between Twilight and robot showed upon the screen. In one clip they started a fire that her older brother Shining was lucky enough to put out.

"The other kids at school made fun of me. They said I was dumb and would never get into the school. That hate, I know it!"

"Of course they are! They pushed, called me means names. They're just a bunch meanies!" she threw one of the pillows across the room. Mat seemed unsure as what to do. The screen pulled up an image from a folder on his screen. Red appeared on the screen saying 'UNRECOGNIZED FILE'. He pulled it out and initiated it.

Twilight looked at Mat in bewilderment for s second before smiling. She rushed up and hugged him.

"Thanks Mat. I needed that." The filly then rushed out of the room to her parents to talk with them. As she did the screen glitched again and the text at the very bottom of his visuals changed.

THE NEXT DAY, HE SHOWED UP.

In this clip filly Twilight came through the door with her parents holding a green and purple dragon her arms. It showed pictures and videos he little baby dragon with the family, but as it progressed, Mat could be seen slowly backing out in each picture, slowly becoming part of the background. The screen began fading into black again.

The screen faded into a dark scene. Mat was crawling and his screen was glitching as he crawled. His metal scraped against the ground his claws barely strong enough to move him. His tires were shot, and his sensors were damaged. He slowly made his way to one very particular box. He managed to open it and pull out a picture and a VCR tape. He plugged a wire into the tape and stared at the picture. The photo showed him and Twilight sitting in her room drawing. the footage glitched and went black.

I MANAGED TO LOAD THIS INFO ONTO THE TAPE.
I CRAWLED SEVERAL MORE FEET UNTIL I MADE IT TO A SEPERATE BOX, ONE I KNEW YOU'D FIND HOPEFULLY.
I CRAWLED BACK INTO MY LITTLE SPACE SO YOU WOULDN'T SEE ME SO TERRIBLY,
AT LEAST I HOPE I DID.
FOR ALL I KNOW, YOU GUSY MOVED AND SOMEONE ELSE THREW ME AWAY.
